Way better then the Hollywooded up Nicolas Cage version. What you see is what you get. A lot of people don't know, that in the part when he hit , and sheered off that steel utility pole. Halicki movie also had very impressive car chase scenes in its own right and, like the first French Connection film, it was done all in real time and you know how well people loved that part of the movie.

Back in late summer of 1976 I dragged home a nearly mint 71 Mach 1 fast back the last of its kind with that mach 1 logo on it the yellow was much deeper than this movie car so it might not even be all original... It had in it what my uncle grand father said was a toasted possibly run out of oil running but knocking 351C. They spent about 7-8 months refining it and never told me there was a two 4bbl intake somewhere the back with one Holley 850 carb. They did their own magic. The thing turned into an out of control museum piece still currently in my dads recroom museum. Under my dads house is 5 of my own vehicles 4 of his own and a half dozen motorcycles that have not been started since we parked em. My uncle Meinhert is credited with finishing that cars. That Mustang like my Camaro can literally tear a pair rear tires right off it. I had that Mustang up over 100 some shut it down. last time I ever drove it was summer of 88. I just got home from military serv in Panama.. I was hurt and went reserves. My dad revived the speedo that took a dump the summer of 1978 my grand father and uncle beat on it all summer long even raced it a few times locally on the streets. It now sits untouched without a single dent. It has an anti Jane Fonda sticker on the hatch window. We left that there for some reasons. The odd touch to that Mach 1 is the chrome wheel arches and chrome along the bottoms of the doors and rockers similar to the 69 model year. I have seen other 70 body styles like that.

Not just a great car chase film, but a great car film, period. A smorgasbord of classic American and foreign cars and street scenes of the mid '70s. As for the concluding chase scene, I had the good luck to watch this on the big screen when it was first released. I left the movie theater with sweat on my palms, and had to settle down a bit before starting my car. Just wow.
I'm glad that I have the DVD of this movie. Cool movie, certainly worth watching!! This had the Guinness Book of World Records for the most vehicles destroyed in 1 movie.
The continuity in the chase is just impeccable.. so many car chase films have a car lose its door then in the next frame it’s back, then gone again.. dents and scratches on cars appearing then disappearing.
Hi have a good time ,AMAIZING FILME ,great memories wen l was a child, speed, emotions, great MUSTANG,TIME TO TAKE A SEAT AND ENJOY ,THANK YOU.YOUR FRIEND OSCAR FRANCISCO.
73 stang I had one in 1982 with Craggier 5 spoke chrome N 50 15’s she was a beast 4:11 rear end and 2800 rpm automatic stall 351 tricked out. I loved that car!
There NEVER was a BOSS 351 with an automatic gearbox. The ONLY year that Ford produced the BOSS 351 was 1971 with MANUAL 4-speed only! They built a total of 1800 BOSS 351s. I ordered one in '71 W/O pwr steering, but had to have the FM-Stereo Radio ONLY (no cassette). The total price of the car was $4888, $450 for the FM radio (2-speakers only). In today's dollars that would equate to $36,994 for the car, $3375 for the FM RADIO! lol I did a few LIGHT mods: Doug Thorley tuned headers, Holley 850 "double pumper", had intake ports "matched" and heads were "ported and polished" installed 2.5" "straight pipes" hooked to a pair of THRUSH mufflers (tin cans with a baffle). Ran it at Minnesota Dragways, with best time of 14.68 @ 103MPH. Probably could have gotten into the 13s with the original "Polyglass 15-F60s which I traded for Goodrich "radial" 15-G60s (high tech back then) for better handling in the "twisties"! Btw, for "top end" I did manage to wind the speedo past its limit (120 from factory). I estimate 135 ACTUAL speed and did it with 3.91 posi, rev limiter (set at 6150rpm) was disconnected on the FIRST day that I got the car!! The car was QUICK, but NO match for a '69 Camaro 396, blew me in the weeds! The BOSS 351 engine was a "one off" in 1971. The engine had 4-bolt mains, solid lifters (.025"clearance on the intakes and exhaust), forged "mangnafluxed" crank and "shot peened" rods. The "regular" Cleveland engine was NOT built this way!!
This movie makes me miss my medium yellow gold 71 Boss 351. I had to sell it in the early 80's because we were having our 1st child. The guy who bought ended up giving it to his 16 year old son. And his son rear ended a Semi on the highway in the fog doing 100+mph. The officer at the crash scene said the speedo was stuck at 100mph.
So many beautiful cars! If I had a time machine (IDC what people say, I want THE DeLorean) I'd love to go back to those days to drive those beauties day in and day out 😍💯❤

@@scottworsley3218 that's exactly the case production couldn't afford a new one so they started a 71 and halicki did his stunt mods to the 71 dressed up like 73
I remember getting this on DVD back in 2003, and I was like "What?" The only Gone In 60 I knew about was the 2000 version. Regardless, this whole sequence -- as hurtful as it is to see these Classics get wrecked, is low-key GOATED as far as movie chases go.
My Dad had a Mustang like at the start of the video... same rims, Same Color or very close (it's been a while). Fords rusted like crazy! 2nd year, the radio antenna fell through the fender, also there was a hole in the trunk floor large enough for a loaf of bread to fit through. CRAZY !!
You know, if you think about it we really should thank the guy with the pink shirt at 5:25 cause if he hadn't moved out of the way when he did, the chase would've lasted for literally 4-5 minutes.
Bullitt was a superior chase, but the ending of this one is easily one of my favorite chase *endings* of all time. Just casually swapping the wrecked Eleanor for a new one at the car wash was just brilliant.
The police dispatcher calls it a 73 Mustang. It is obviously a hybrid of some sort. 73 grill. 71/72 bumper, front lower valance w/ lights, and side paint scheme.
its a 71 made to look like a 73, they didnt have the budget to buy new 73s so they bought 71s the car that was wrecked there is still around and its brought around to big shows, still looks exactly like that
@@poindextertunes well in 73 and 74 there was only the SD trans am that was still making respectable power as they had forged internals, there were cars that still made decent power for the 74 year, 360 barracudas/challengers, 400 big blocks in the 73 and 74 chargers, the mustang in 73 was still not bad with the 351 cleveland and windsor, also the camaros and firebirds up to 74, with the 350 chevy and the 400 and 455 pontiacs, just a few upgrades would bring them around, they were also underrated to try and hide from insurance companies by the 1975 model year they were killed off due to all the bs regulations and catalytic converters coming out, through 1975-1981 the only good cars were the firebird/trans ams and camaros, everything else was junk and ugly, the camaro was kind of ugly up until 78 but now you can put better bumpers on and they look good, but the vette was still somewhat decent looking, good candidate for an earlier 350 or big block to be put in Ford had the Torino up until 76 but the last good year for it was 74 as they still had the 351 and 4 speed available but 75 and 76 they were only automatic and had really low power it was a big mistake on their part for not offering a respectable performance car until the fox body mustang came out, imo ford should have pushed for a starsky and hutch movie to rival GM with smokey and the bandit and kept building the Torino Dodge just had nothing good from 75 and up for a long time just the lil red express trucks but i think they are goofy

This classic chase was done on s a sunday because the guy in charge of city / events bylaw wasn't working on Sundays .that off ramp pole incident was not planned . 15:11 Eleanor had nascar roll cage installed. That was Toby.
One of the best car chases ever 🎥 The whole film done on a very low budget as well. Remember it well as a young lad.
One of the,if not the best car chase ever put on film. Brilliant.
Use to work at Slauson/Figueroa. Lived in Pasadena. My co-worker had a 74 Mustang.Looked just like this one. Drove just like that too
Must have been a 1973, in 1974 Ford introduced the smaller Mustang II. It was produced on the same chassis as the Pinto.
That’s gotta have at least a 100 gallon gas tank and the toughest and strongest tires I ever seen or heard of and that man can drive better than any other person .
Him backing up the tow truck with a car on it while being chased has my respect, most people can't backup a car and he's outrunning the cops
I saw this at a screening at a Custom Van hotrod show at the CNE in '77. Shag rug mandatory. My friends mom timed the final chase scene on her wristwatch. It just went on and on and we loved it. p.s. The Cadillac full of Cannabis Connaisseurs were the best.
Dumb A$$ watched it 1974
The world sure has changed in 50 years since this movie came out.
yeah i cant belive how little traffic there is in California, especially in that area
Was a shame when H. B. Halicki died doing one of his own stunts for the sequel to this.
that's the life of a stuntman.
yeah thats was in the movie "The junkman" if i remember right

This intro is classic . Never gets old . Between this and Bullit chase hard to defy
No CGI just pure action.
I watched this when it first came out. I was a teenager and loved every minute of this movie. I still feel the excitement even now every time that I view this legendary movie. The best car chase movie ever made for sure. FORD BABY❤
Oh God, it reminds us of those beautiful times
It’s more impressive when you read the history and statistics of the chase.
Wow I recognize these streets! I've crossed the Vincent Thomas Bridge 100s of times. A lot of Long Beach and Wilmington still looks the same 😎
Not just a great car chase film, but a great car film, period. A smorgasbord of classic American and foreign cars and street scenes of the mid '70s. As for the concluding chase scene, I had the good luck to watch this on the big screen when it was first released. I left the movie theater with sweat on my palms, and had to settle down a bit before starting my car. Just wow.
thats a great experience. I bet the roar of that 351 echoed through the whole theatre
This Scene is so much better than the knock-off
OG before IG😂😂😂
The man's confidence is just like the mostang😂😂😂
Great movie 😊
THIS IS THE TRUE ELEANOR NOT A 67 MUSTANG
1968 Mustang! 390!!
You're right
Thank you 👍. Agree 💯. I watched the Nick Cage version and didn't like it.
I agree rest in peace Hal hickey
And Definitely Not A MODERN DAY Mustang!!
I'm glad that I have the DVD of this movie. Cool movie, certainly worth watching!! This had the Guinness Book of World Records for the most vehicles destroyed in 1 movie.
I have both of these movies on dvd and a diecast model of the mustang
Never seen this before good Chase thanks for putting this on!
I seen this movie when it first came out. I also have it on VHS.
you have the best sound track !!! this one is the remix from the re release a few years ago .
Non esiste niente di meglio. Questo è il più grande inseguimento della storia del cinema
I used to own a '73 Mach 1 with the Pewter paint, same rims etc. Mine had the Boss 351 Cleveland engine with the auto trans. Absolutely awsome!
I had a 71 Mach. 351 cleveland. was a cool car.
Someone put the boss engine in it before you bought it. Boss 351 was 71' only with 4 speed tranny.
Круто! Форд Мустанг 71 блестяще показал себя в этих полицейских гонках)
Still my favorite after all these years, saw it in the theater, fantastic movie for stunts
I like the way it’s like oh the movie is over? Lol
One of the greatest car chases in movie history
Much better than the modern Nicolas Cage 60 Seconds👍😎
This movie makes me miss my medium yellow gold 71 Boss 351. I had to sell it in the early 80's because we were having our 1st child.
The guy who bought ended up giving it to his 16 year old son. And his son rear ended a Semi on the highway in the fog doing 100+mph. The officer at the crash scene said the speedo was stuck at 100mph.
The picture is so clear 💙👍💯
35mm film and a good transfer.
I remember this movie when I was kid great movie good car chase too
That mustang is like a Timex watch: takes a lickin' as it keeps on tickin'...
It's built Ford tough.
You gotta love how the opening scene with him in the Cadillac doing 90 was not a sped up scene. CGI will never replace real action!
Amazing stereo sound of chase!!!
So many beautiful cars! If I had a time machine (IDC what people say, I want THE DeLorean) I'd love to go back to those days to drive those beauties day in and day out 😍💯❤
When you try to escape all the wanted stars you obtained in GTA.
😮❤ I'm almost 50 years old. I remember watching these old movies with my dad.
Thought they were so awesome. And they still are even today. Lot more action in realistic without all the computer-animated s***
My dad also had flat black 71 Mustang. 351.
Actually that is a '73 Mustang. The 1971's turn signals in the front grill are horizontal, while the 1973's are vertical.
73 front clips halicki hielly modified to take shit ton of abuse he started with a 71
I read somewhere years ago that they used a 71 Mustang and added a 73 grill. Don't know why.
@@scottworsley3218 that's exactly the case production couldn't afford a new one so they started a 71 and halicki did his stunt mods to the 71 dressed up like 73
all Cleveland power
You are correct.

BEST CHASE MOVIE EVER!!!...and i LOVE the 7-UPS, Bullit, French Connection among others....
30 minute high speed chase and that car never runs out of gas
Or flat tyres
Also, amazingly, it started right up, and never stalled.
there was noting like this scene when it came out. Ppl in the know, praised this movie
أطول مطاردة بالسيارات في السينما الأمريكية على حد علمي .......سيارات السبعينات كانت العصر الذهبي و أحلى حقبة , خاصة مع سيارة الفوردماستونج
CRAZY !!
Salt on the roads during winter where you lived?? ..car not garaged kept?
You know, if you think about it we really should thank the guy with the pink shirt at 5:25 cause if he hadn't moved out of the way when he did, the chase would've lasted for literally 4-5 minutes.
this is filmed so good i miss the 70s and i grow up in the 90s which were also great
とても懐かしい。テレビで放送されたものをVHSのデッキで録画してテープがすり減る迄見ました。傘で車を叩くご婦人のシーン、いまだに覚えていました。
Bullitt was a superior chase, but the ending of this one is easily one of my favorite chase *endings* of all time. Just casually swapping the wrecked Eleanor for a new one at the car wash was just brilliant.
The police dispatcher calls it a 73 Mustang. It is obviously a hybrid of some sort. 73 grill. 71/72 bumper, front lower valance w/ lights, and side paint scheme.
its a 71 made to look like a 73, they didnt have the budget to buy new 73s so they bought 71s the car that was wrecked there is still around and its brought around to big shows, still looks exactly like that
@@cloakedgtnot only that but by ‘73 every american muscle car lacked serious horse power
@@poindextertunes well in 73 and 74 there was only the SD trans am that was still making respectable power as they had forged internals, there were cars that still made decent power for the 74 year, 360 barracudas/challengers, 400 big blocks in the 73 and 74 chargers, the mustang in 73 was still not bad with the 351 cleveland and windsor, also the camaros and firebirds up to 74, with the 350 chevy and the 400 and 455 pontiacs, just a few upgrades would bring them around, they were also underrated to try and hide from insurance companies
by the 1975 model year they were killed off due to all the bs regulations and catalytic converters coming out, through 1975-1981 the only good cars were the firebird/trans ams and camaros, everything else was junk and ugly, the camaro was kind of ugly up until 78 but now you can put better bumpers on and they look good,
but the vette was still somewhat decent looking, good candidate for an earlier 350 or big block to be put in
Ford had the Torino up until 76 but the last good year for it was 74 as they still had the 351 and 4 speed available but 75 and 76 they were only automatic and had really low power it was a big mistake on their part for not offering a respectable performance car until the fox body mustang came out, imo ford should have pushed for a starsky and hutch movie to rival GM with smokey and the bandit and kept building the Torino
Dodge just had nothing good from 75 and up for a long time just the lil red express trucks but i think they are goofy
Went to the theater to see this movie. Lot of car movies back then. 70' were the best
That nice blue SATILITE !
Thank you for posting!
R.I.P for all the cool cars that were wrecked in the making of these scene
Cool cars? Non of them are/were cool. Just rot boxes
I remember seeing this when I was a kid it was awesome my uncle was a stunt man in the 50s and 60s wish he was alive to see the fall of Hollywood it's a tragedy he was a real man

The 73 Mach 1 was almost the Mad MAX interceptor before the 73 xb Falcon FACTS!!! But they sad part s we're have been a pain in the ass to get for it.
The whole time I thought it was a 71 smh
it is a 71 josh, and its not a mach 1 either
