@Uncle Creepy When this Lamborghini was first shipped to the US, it wasn't legal, due to the front being so low, so they added the front wing which became the bumber, and it is mounted to the chassis with shock absorbers, and the height made it street legal, and that was how they were able to put it in the movie. This Lambo also has four CB radio antennas on the back, which made it look even better.

This movie introduced me to the Countach when I was 5 years old (about 1982). - A love at first sight moment that locked me in to being a big Lambo fan right up to present day.

Couldn't make it today. Well, partly because modern cars are garbage, but also all the middle ages harpies would be screeching about all the drinking and driving in the movie. Oh, and the Gumball movie was ok, just more "adult" and degenerate.
A great summertime Movie when I was a Kid. At the time i was only 13 and it was a treat to see these kind of Movies Outdoors with my Parents and family.,
My dream car since I saw one for the first time. Even by todays standards it’s still a radical design. Was an absolute masterpiece of an automobile. Was fortunate to get a ride in one and it was the highlight of my life. And what an awesome intro and couldn’t have picked a better ride.
It had its shortcomings but still an unbelievable piece of design and engineering, the chassis is incredible! One of the sweetest rides ever conceived and no matter what shortcomings it did have I’d kill to own one!
I was 11 when I first watched this movie. I lost track of how many times I watched it back then. I watched this movie so many times I think I could have recited the script from start to finish. I expect it's due to childhood wonder but no movie since has inspired this much joy.

I saw one at a car show and when I saw it in person I knew it was the sexiest car ever. That poor Pontiac never stood a chance.
It actually was. In a way... Speed Zone was the 3rd installment. Jamie Farr is in it still playing the same part. John Candy and John Schneider are in it also. It was ok.

In my town in Denmark, one man had a car like this. One day many people waiting for bus in the city center, we suttenly could hear thunder and canon sound, everybody looked where the nois came from, then the car drive very slowly for green light. I never forget that day and time.
Always loved that moment when they match the lambo’s revs to the music at around 0:15, it might even have been the exact moment i got into cars as a kid:)

As a kid in the 80's you had a poster of 1 of 3 cars on your wall, Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 911 or the Lamborghini Countach, I sat in the Lamborghini group. Whilst I love the look of the Ferrari and Porsche the Countach was like a birth of a new era in car design, that tapered wedge shape that so many super cars today still use. The first 10 seconds, that distinctive sound of that V12 engine, and to think it only had 350hp. The Countach is a motoring legend and always will be.
I think it's still the most beautiful car ever made. Editing goof: as everyone is flying by them while the officer has them pulled over, their zippers are down, then when the camera angle goes back to them, the zippers are up. Not that I'm complaining.
For those of you that didn't know, The Cannonball Run (film/movie) is actually a comedic depiction of a true life race. The added irony is it was actually the Countach that killed off the race for future years. RUclips User: "Vinwiki" has lots of video about this subject.

Then I did a bit of research and discovered that that spoiler is actually a hideous rubber bumper, designed to meet California's strict safety rules. Fun Fact that only Italians know: the name of the car, COUNTACH (which sounds 'kuntac' with the "c" sound as in the beginning of "cheese") is actually a local dialect expression from the Modena area meaning something like "HOLY SHIT!" and it was the expression loudly worded out by some of the workers at the Lamborghini factory when they saw the real size bodywork maquette roll out from the design department the first time. Ferruccio Lamborghini and Paolo Stanzani (chief engineer at the time) who were present at the factory during the roll out decided that would have been the car's name even though in later years marketing people would regret that almost nobody in the world pronounces it right. Second Fun Fact: it is the only Lamborghini ever NOT to be named after a Spanish fighting bull breed like Miura, Diablo, Aventador and so on.

They've got a Pontiac that shakes apart at 120 chasing a Lambo- and the scene where they punch it they pull away like a greyhound passing a duck...
Actually, when this movie was made, there was a national 55mph speed limit. So you can actually (legally) go much faster today. The TOLL 130 freeway near my house has an 85mph limit.
@@texaswunderkind The point I was making was that they could shut down a highway and go as fast as they wanted- too often now, for liability reasons they drive slowly and make noises like it's fast and fake it- but you can see the lines aren't going by as fast as they should be...
42 years later and the Countach still looks and sounds out of this world.

I think the only thing Lambo has done since that measures up to it is the Aventador. Which seems very much to borrow from the iconic look.

Countach, 911 Turbo, and the 308 GTSi, were the cars of that era. One of the best car race/duels on film was a 308 vs 911 turbo in “Against All Odds”.

This was such a cool movie one of the best ones ever and I like how they added the front wing to the black lamborghini for this movie.
I remember seeing that Movie when it was brand new, at the Deauxville Cinema, in Conroe , Texas.

I love it- that was back when they could actually get out on a highway and drive 150, not go 70 and pretend it was fast... and there's NO sound like those six downdraft Webers screaming at full song!! They've got a Pontiac that shakes apart at 120 chasing a Lambo- and the scene where they punch it they pull away like a greyhound passing a duck...
Actually, when this movie was made, there was a national 55mph speed limit. So you can actually (legally) go much faster today. The TOLL 130 freeway near my house has an 85mph limit.
@@texaswunderkind The point I was making was that they could shut down a highway and go as fast as they wanted- too often now, for liability reasons they drive slowly and make noises like it's fast and fake it- but you can see the lines aren't going by as fast as they should be...
