1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle; then turn the key counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new transmitter in the transmitter pocket with buttons facing the rear of the vehicle. The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area between the driver and front passenger seats. The storage area will need to be opened to access the transmitter pocket.
5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press unlock or lock on the transmitter.
To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

thanks for the video - i programmed my 2019 ESV Platinum- one suggestion: if you have multiple fobs- you have to reprogram all at the same time- i tried just programming the new FOB and my old one no longer worked- so i had to repeat the process-
30 min of my time is well worth the $300 i would have paid for the programming and new fob- found one on line for $80!!

FYI: i had both FOBs in the car- the FOB codes are fixed- this process re-writes the vehicle presets- so it doesn't matter where your fobs are until the car is ready to read them -

This is an all keys lost function so it will erase any previously programmed keys and only work with what keys you program back in

We had one of our two keys stolen - when I go through the sequence it will erase the two previous keys saved right?
I can't access learn mode by turning the key 5 times within 10 seconds, no message is shown on the dash, 2018 Cadillac escalade. any tip?
i tried moving on without getting the message on the dash and nothing happened.
I actually re-programmed with the working fob far away and all it did was flip flop functioning fobs. Not sure what else to do.
2018 escalade platinum will not display the "DIC PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN" screen. I have carefully tried to do the 5 CCW door lock key turns several times and the learn mode is not displaying. Any other methods or suggestions?
Will doing this remove the programming of already programmed remotes? For example if I program the new remote and exit the programming without adding original remote into glove box and repeating steps 4-6 with the original remote. will my original remote not work now?
Yes, this will erase any original remotes unless they are programmed back in during the procedure (repeating steps 4-6)
what if i have one good fob and key and one key with loat fob
Does this process work with a 2021 Escalade Key Fob? I have one, need to add another so do I still repeat steps 4-6 with both FOBs to have them both functional?

I have 2 key fobs now that came with the 16 Escalade I purchased but the fobs are a bit beat up so my question is,
can I buy 2 new fobs and use the old keys to program the new fobs without cutting the new keys?
And place the old keys in the new fobs
Am just trying to avoid going to the dealer to cut the new keys.
Can locksmith cut them or is that only done by dealer?
Yes, you can use the emergency keys out of the existing remotes. If the only issue with your current keys is that they are worn, you can also just buy replacement cases and move the electronics into the new cases - then you won't have to reprogram.
Can you program a key fob if purchased from an individual that’s selling one do I need to get that key cut like you mention in the video what if it’s already cut and was used for their own vehicle would it still work
You can use a used fob, but it needs to have been "flashed" or "unlocked" before it will be programmable again. You will need a new key cut to your vehicle.
How do we flash or unlock it? Can we do it ourselves, or how much do dealerships charge
@@zubzero41 You can't do it yourself without the correct hardware and software. It's not something the dealerships do either, they would just try to sell you a new fob. I would just google "remote fob flashing" and look for a website that does it or I believe there are some companies on Ebay selling the service as well.
GM makes it hard/time consuming to add new fobs; must be so profitable to sell the customer spare fobs.
first of all thanks for the video. its very useful. I have one question or concern. i have only one working remote for 2017 Escalade, i am afraid that if i use this method, it will definitely erase the working remote ( but will program the new key fob, which i baught ) will it reprogram my original key fob ? using steps 4-6. what i am afraid is that, my original remote could be locked, like you said that it will need flashing, to reprogram on the same car. just want to confirm, that my original key fob will be reprogramed using steps 4-6 without flashing servise etc.
this procedure will erase your original fob but it can be re-programmed. The fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed but can be re-prgorammed again to that same vehicle an unlimited number of times

this didn't work at first, but then it did. My 2017 Escalade would not program the aftermarket fob on my first attempt. Then, the original key wouldn't work. Disconnected negative battery terminal for a bit. Turned back on and it said to insert key 2. Did the final steps from the video and somehow i got both keys programmed.
The 2017 models can take a fob with either a 413mhz remote or a 433 mhz remote. It’s the only year where you have two possible frequency options for the remote
oh my, Same thing is happening to me i have no keys active now, So now i should disconnect negativie terminal?
I have replaced 2019 escalade door handle sensors but is not working but old ones are working. What should I do
Not sure - I've never replaced the door handle sensors
It doesn’t show remote learning pending on 2016 Escalade but it shows ready for remote 3

How do you define what number remote they are to meet the driver settings for each remote
The order in which you program them in will determine that - so the first remote programmed will be Driver 1 and then count up from there.
I got a 2015 Escalade with this style of key fob, do you know if I can program a key fob from a 2020 Escalade, the one that looks rectangular. Thanks
I'm not sure what key fob you mean - a 2015 and 2020 Escalade use the same key fob
@@PYR-Auto sorry I meant a 2021 style key fob. I read that they supposed to be same frequency as the 2015. So I was wondering if it's possible to program one of those to the 2015.
The 2021 fob is a completely different style, with a different FCC ID so I don't believe it would program to a 2015 but I can't say for certain as I have never tried it.
I have a 2017 Escalade ESV and can’t seem to Enter Programming Mode. I tried turning the key counter clockwise 5 times within ten seconds but my dashboard does not indicate programming mode. What am I doing wrong? Or are the steps different in the different trims of the car?
Some vehicles only show the message for a few seconds right when the door is opened or closed. I would recommend just continuing with the procedure and going off of the time.

I changed the batteries and now both old fobs won’t unlock but will start when placed in the center console. Will this work for me? With the used fobs?
You can re-program remotes with this but it sounds like you may have other issues. Are you sure you installed the batteries correctly? ( not upside down)
@@PYR-Auto the fobs unlock and remote start, but to crank I have to but the fob in the center console slot and no remote detected shows up on the display

every time I try it says remote has left the vehicle.

My fob won’t unlock or lock when pressed after you remove it from the middle console. (It’s a new battery and it’s the correct way)
There may just be an issue with fob - if it is a refurbished fob it may not have been unlocked properly
