Fantastic. Cadillac wanted 130.00 to do this.....crazy....thank you so much
I can’t stand wasting money at Cadillac. You’re welcome.
Broooooooooooo!! I appreciate this vid to the fullest. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you. I tried another video and it was wrong. This worked perfectly first time. Really appreciated!
Great video worked on my xts key fob. Greatly appreciated!!
It sounds like the car programmed your remote as if there were no working remotes. In my reply in the comments to Brandon Holt, I found and posted the programming instructions for programming with no remotes. It sounds like in your programming process it erased all active remotes in order to reprogram the old one that worked and new one. Thanks for sharing your experience that worked for you. This is a good insight that you don’t need a working remote or you can have one working (as long as you have two) on the 17-20 vehicles which I am assuming your car is since it didn’t program the same way as the 15-16 with one remote.
You are the man! Thank's so much for the video. Worked like a charm.
Awesome, glad it worked for you!
Thanks for the video
Very nice 👌 job 👏
Perfect. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Awesome thank you.
You're very welcome
My experience: I have 1 key for an XT5, identified as Key #2. Bought new key. Went to program new key - kept original key #2 in cup holder. Program mode started on car as if no keys were present. Seems that it didn't recognize the original key - maybe because its key #2 and not key #1. So, went through entire cycle and programmed new key. Original key stopped working (as expected). Even though I held the start/stop button for 12 seconds (or longer), when got back into car, it was asking to program key #2. So, I then took original key that stopped working and placed that into the glove box location to be re-programmed and it worked fine! Now I have two working keys, new key #1 and original key #2 (like it was). Manual says both keys must be present to add a 3rd key, but I only had 1 key. Further down in manual it says car will say ready to program #2,3,4, etc. so I assumed it could program a 2nd key without having both. Anyone offer an explanation why original key #2 wasn't recognized by the car so it only had to add a new key?
Thank you!!!
I have a 2017 Escalade and this method did not work at all. I tried it like five times to make sure I was doing it exactly like this video shows.
Is the programming the same for other models that use the same key fob?
Maybe I didn't look hard but I couldn't find programming steps for the ct4 which uses the same key fob...
When turned the key is sais remote left in vehicle, how can access the remote programming mode
I'm waiting on FOB to deliver. Need to program for 2019 Cadillac Escalade, will it work exactly like the video or will I need to reprogram both remotes. Thank you!
I bought my fob from ebay but for some reason the vehicle will not show remote 4 when i push the start button? Is it the key possibly?
Hi that emergency key which you click 5 times is that old key from old transmitter and new transmitter comes without key .
Thanks
Yes, it is the old emergency key that you turn left 5 times. You can order oem key fobs that come with or without emergency key. They are close to the same price. You can even order blank emergency keys by themselves that are OEM or non OEM on eBay/Amazon and then have a gm certified locksmith laser cut them which is what I did. I hear you can also mail them in to certain locksmiths and have them laser cut for pretty cheap.
Does this work on a 2019 Cadillac CTS
We tried to sync our old key fob from our 2015 fob to a 2018 Cadillac and it wasn’t successful. Now we are having trouble starting it at times and getting error codes like, service theft deterrent system with a dismiss tab and action required, ready for remote with a dismiss tab. Do you have anyone there that could help us? We could FaceTime someone if so. Any ideas?
Will this work on a 2018 ATS?
Tried this on our 2018, the process for removing the key cap is different, there's a slot on the bottom of the handle where the key goes in while the handle is held open, then the message was "ready to program vehicle remote" rather than ready for remote 2. Didn't work for me putting the new remote in the slot then hitting the start button, maybe it changed for 2018+?
See you posted the instructions for 1 working remote in another's comment thread, thank you!
Glad the instructions under the reply to Brandon Holt helped you👍
BTW I have 1 working remote.
Do you know if it would be the same process for a Cadillac ct6 ? Thanks
Yes, It is the exact same process for the CT6
any link to buy the key fob
Will this work for 2023 escalade?
Do you have to get the key you ordered cut first?
Yes I just got mine in the mail. You need it cut to put it in the door. They won't cut it unless your on the title. Or at least that's what I've ran into
Would this work for programming an additional (3rd) key fob for a 2019 Cadillac XT5
Yes works for XT5
Same procedure with a Yukon Denali? 2017
Should be depending on how many remotes you have programmed currently. Read the comments under Brandon Holt's reply to see 2017-2020 differences.
Can i use escalade key for yukon denali ? Its the same programming process
That's a good question. I'm not sure. The Tahoe is compatible on the Yukon, but I can't see anything if they are compatible on the Escalade. If you find out, please let us know.
I’m thinking of purchasing a key fob from another individual so I think this key is a used key fob from another vehicle would i be able to program this used key in to my own vehicle
No, you will not be able to program it unless it is new or unlocked. I do not know how to unlock them, and from what I've seen, most dealers don't know how to unlock them either. Good luck to you though. If you figure out an easy way to unlock them, please put it in the comments for others.
Jimmy Newsom ok thank you for your fast respond
What if you have 1 pod and need to program another one ??
Read the replies to Brandon Holt and hopefully you will have the procedure explained
Will this procedure work for a 2018 XTS?
It should. Follow the steps in the reply to Brandon Holdt. Good luck.
While programming my spare both keys stoped working 🤦♂️...
Look under the reply to Brandon Holt. Hopefully a few replies down you will figure out the steps to proceed.
I keep seeing you have to have two working remotes or none. I only have one working remote. Can I do this? I don't want to start it and make it where the one remote I have does not work especially if you cannot program used ones again.
Yes, you are not erasing the programming in your single remote with the steps in the video. You are programming the new remote to match your existing programmed remote, so you don't need to worry.
@@moswenym i appreciate you answering so quickly. I tried it and the prompt that I saw on instructions for no remotes comes up. It says , "Remote Learning Pending Please Wait" . It didn't work after so I stopped.
Is your recognized remote in the car when you turn the key to the left 5 times?... It sounds like it is not or the car thinks it is not, and it is programming as if you had no working remotes.
@@moswenym it says remote in vehicle when I open the door
I programmed an additional remote with my 15 and 16 Escalade in this procedure with a single remote. Looking into the 2017-2020 procedure right now, I see that the 17-20 require the same process, but you need to have two working remotes to program a 3rd like this or if you have none or one, you need to program as if you don't have any remotes (this procedure should also work on 2015 and 2016 with no remotes). Everything should be the same in programming, but with not requiring working remotes in vehicle and you have to wait 30 minutes (10 minutes 3 times). All the steps are below:
GM Smart Key Adding With All Keys Lost 2017-2020. You Must Add Two Keys For Vehicle To Start And Run.
If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters you wish to program must be with you.
1. Insert the vehicle key of the transmitter into the key lock cylinder located on the outside of the driver door and turn the key to the unlock position five times within ten seconds.
The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for ten minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and then press start button.
The DIC displays will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps.
The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket.
The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area located between the driver and front passenger seats. The storage area will need to be opened and the storage tray lifted up to access the transmitter pocket.
5. Press the start button. When the transmitter is learned the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the remote 2.
6. Remove transmitter 1 from the transmitter pocket and then put the next transmitter into the transmitter pocket
7. Press start button
8. Program additional remotes by repeating Steps 5-7 or press start for 30 seconds to exit programming mode
When I try this I get the message remote learning please wait verses program remote 3
Check the reply to Brandon Holt. Sounds like yours is a 2017-2020.
the cover on my door lock dont want to come off
Make sure you have the drivers side door handle pulled open slightly when you push the cover on the right side inwards (to your left). Takes a moderate amount of force.
Where did you buy the extra key fob?
I paid $81 for one on eBay and $90 from another seller on eBay, both of which don't have any for sale right now. You can buy from other sellers on there though, just make sure they are new or unlocked. The new would be the safe bet. New OEM come in AC Delco packaging.
@@moswenym what do you mean by unlocked ?
@@mplscarsales6652 By Unlocked, I mean the programming erased from the key fob by dealer or locksmith if it was programmed for another car. You may be able to program even if it’s locked by following the steps for relearning (not the steps for adding another remote). I have never done this myself so cannot recommend this, but if it works for you let us know. I’m sure people would find that helpful. Good luck to you.
Turning the key five times does nothing on my Chevrolet Tahoe. Any tips or tricks?
Did you leave your already working key FOB in the car? After you turned left 5 times, did your dash say "ready for remote 2" (or 3)?
I did leave the working key fob in the car, but, after turning the key five times, nothing happened at all... tried it many times... no success
Does your vehicle have a push button start? I don't believe this process will work if you do not have a push button start.
@@moswenym so can this work on a non push button start vehicle?
No, vehicle has to be push button for it to work
you need to tell people that they need to wait a full 10 minutes for the ready message to show up.
On my Escalade, it was ready for remote 2 and 3 instantly. Which vehicle do you have? Maybe there is a different process for your vehicle that would help people with that model.
@@moswenym I have a 2018 XT5. I learn the procedure for when there is no other key which had 3 10 minute segments. Just guessed it was needed and it worked. I'm sure other models require it too.
Thanks for the tip...so you can program a new key fob in a similar way when you don't have a working key fob? It sounds like you were able to have your vehicle program the new key fob like this, you just needed the emergency key and 10 extra minutes.
@@jozdaman1 hi, I have a 2018 cadillac xt5 and I'm also wondering how to program a second remote. Can you explain to me exactly what you did please?! I don't want to mess up my only working remote. Thanks.
