Another tip maybe not specifically for uplifting riffs but more for composition in general: When trying not to repeat yourself too many times (like is shown in the video), don't change the embellishments too much to continue giving them a sense of vague repetition, some unity, and also to save yourself from having to come up with too much material to all be cramped into one song. Try things like using the same melodic shape but beginning on one note higher on the scale, and adapting the embellishment slightly to accommodate that. Hope this makes sense and helps any of you guys out there out!
'Hey Steve, check out my new hat.' 'For Christ's sake Clarence, a cactus isn't a hat.' 'Leave me be and swallow thy envy, you cap-wearing oaf. Succulents can be hats.' 'Clarence, we're speakers. We don't wear hats.'
Awesome work Tyler! Loving your work. Music theory is something I've wanted to dig into lately and the super system is definately healing me on my way!
I have been playing guitar for 8 years and I was becoming frustrated for having become stale in my playing. I realized that it was because I was playing mindlessly, without pondering about the intricate details of the instrument. Since I discovered your channel I learned more about guitar than O had ever learn in 8/.
Those chords are so from School of Rock. 'Baaaby we was making straight A's, But we were stuck in a dumb daze. Don’t take much to memoriiiize your lieeee. I feel like I've been hypnotisized.'
Fantastic video, thank you. :) Just started into the first few sections of the super system, and I'm very pleased with it as well. I appreciate your work!
If given the opportunity, would you do shred wars with Jared Dines? I see a lot of comments over there saying he should get you to do it. I think it would be pretty cool to see. PS: Great video, really helps me who is better with solos and stuff, but lacks in the rhythm and riffing department. Keep rocking!
Dude, you are a badass for sharing your wizardry! Thank you! Anyone reading this know this: been playing by ear all my life, and this guy has seriously unraveled the mysteries and vagueness behind the "secret" to learning musical godism on the guitar. Just watch and practice his videos, and it will honestly make perfect sense in due practice. Well done sir, I salute you for sharing, and making me not just a better guitar player, but a better musician!
This is awesome man! I can really tell that building that last little solo you really put music theory to work to articulate the single note solo playing with the chords. I never learned music theory, and because of that my playing has hit a ceiling and I can't crack the code to get further to be able to play in key, jam consistently, and create things on the fly like this. I'm getting a PRS soon and will definitely be getting lessons to checkout some of this music theory and try to crack that code, i'll checkout your system too.
Any specific course you recommend? I've played for over 7 years, and I'm pretty good, although solely from patching together what techniques i've learned from reading tabs. I guess, essentially, I want to know what's going on on the fretboard and know where the pathways are to drive through it correctly.
Tempo is the most important device after you decide on a tonal center and progression, so I look for a drum beat loop that inspires me and drums will often add a little twist to the RIFF cause I would hate to work that hard and not have a beat that goes with it (ie: like The Ocean by Zep) , But you are so, Right the guitar sound has got to groove. Love the info...good work!
Dime BagBarrells depends on the type of headbanging, if you want chicken style headbang, go for gallops, if you want a spinning type of headbang, go for a rather technical riff, if you want a slow but deep one, go for doom metal riff, if you want a super fast mini up and down headbang, go for death metal ones
You can make a really cool and simple riff using D, Dsus2 and Dsus4, for example: D, Dsus2, Dsus4, Dsus2, D. The bridge for AC/DC's Highway to hell is just the D and Dsus4 chords.
You are probably the only person that explains stuff the right way, subbed. :) By the way, I played guitar for 8 year, and my ear is very developed, but I never learned how to read notes. This is ok for rhythm, but not so much for solos , because of the not learned theory :D . Still though, do you think that theory is necessary when you have a developed ear?
I should dislike before you just wrecked myself esteem... i have been working for like two months on a song and i don't even know what kind of chord progression i want. You just go and make an epic rock riff. Still really a freking great video and subscribing to this channel was really really a good choice. Keep it up man!
Hi Tyler, I know it is advised to start slowly and work on basics but is it really negative to occasionally go straight into the deep end to test yourself, or will this effect your confidence and how clean your playing is
Music is about having fun, so the moment you want to have fun, do so. As long as you understand what it takes to improve from an overarching standpoint, there's nothing wrong with cranking up the gain and ripping. Discouragement is only caused by things that are not real. Enjoy yourself, brother!
I want an SE Custom 24 Floyd so bad. Love the tone on every video I've heard, and I've tried a couple in local music shops. They feel great. The neck's a little wider than normal, but I don't mind. Definitely getting one in 2017, if it's the last thing I do.
Steel Panthers 17 Girls in A Row has that exact chord progression in the verses that you played at 3:22 , and the rhythm you made is very similar too lol. Check it out if you havent
If I were to invest in your guitar super system, is there a section that helps with riff/lick writing in scales like the pentatonic major and minor and things like harmonic minor or does it only cover what they are and their five positions
I go over Home Riffs, which is a concept that shows you how to identify home bases among the various modes in order to create your own music and licks. There's a 30-day money back guarantee for all my courses if you don't find what you're looking for, too. Hope that helps!
Can you please do a video on lead guitar tones?? I always end up with a perfect tone for riffs but when it comes to lead, it always lacks sustain, feels kinda "dry" and I play a new Marshall tube amp so the problem is on me Thanks for the help!
So is your Guitar Super System essentially just longer more in-depth videos like these? Was thinking of getting it when I could, and wanted to know exactly what it was.
I recommend the way I learned: 1. Keep practicing EVERY DAY! 2. Get a strumming pattern down. 3. Just work on changing chords, don't worry to much about making the full chord, just keep strumming, change as clean as you can, repeat. Hope this helped!
If you like Pink Floyd, look up the chords for Wish You Were Here. Just try to play each chord as cleanly and accurately as you can and transition between them.
Dave For some reason I feel like I could play a few simple pentatonics and you would be impressed. Or maybe play the tetris theme and you'd give up playing guitar forever.
Watching this channel while being home sick is the best thing I've done all week
I hope I can heal you, friend.
this is a really underrated channel, keep up the good work
Lucas Clomex dude there must be something going around because I'm home sick and watching this too
Hunter Kasper Hillary clinton
has infected us all....
Music is Win thanks man! Keep up the great content!

I sort of did that with my first ever composition when first starting out without actually knowing what i'm doing. Guess i was on the right track :D
Don't forget to add some VAI-brato.
'Hey Steve, check out my new hat.'
'For Christ's sake Clarence, a cactus isn't a hat.'
'Leave me be and swallow thy envy, you cap-wearing oaf. Succulents can be hats.'
'Clarence, we're speakers. We don't wear hats.'
That D-C-G progression made me think of the song from School of Rock.
RanterInShades sweet home alabama innit
Its the last song that they play. "It's a long way to the top" by AC/DC.
saurav roy Wasn't referring to that song.
Obviously Highway to Hell
They don t get what you mean but i thought the same, and there is an anime ost which is called battle for justice which looks like what he is playing
Awesome work Tyler!
Loving your work.

Always love insights into the creative process. Thanks for posting.
Everything about this channel is great. Informative, silly, overall AWESOME. Rock on!
Dude hell yeah, I love a good D-chord. Everyone raves about the A-chord, but dude... That D-chord \m/
mi favorite one is g chord
Jimmy Page style!
Dsus2 is orgasmic
i thing my fave chord is the E7#9! (the Jimi Hendrix chord!)
TheSwedishUploader G chord is pretty nice too!
Fantastic video, thank you. :) Just started into the first few sections of the super system, and I'm very pleased with it as well. I appreciate your work!
wow! yesterday I was just practicing this! Creating uplifting riffs, chord changes etc.
Maan i love your character and your style of playing! You really seem to know what you re doing. You just earned a sub
Why so short, would have enjoyed if that solo went on for some minutes :) it's so Satriani ♥
Nice video! I love how your content is always really simple but very helpful.

That chord progression reminded me of Interstate Love Song. A thousand people have used it, but it's still so fuckin good.
so simple yet so deep and kewl

Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast!
I'm gonna drink it up, while it lasts!
I just subscribed a couple weeks ago and I'm picky about guitar channels. Yours is a great one, thanks!
I could definitely use some uplifting riffs because of the elections last night
*Can't Stump The Trump.*
CharlieTheGuitarist. Trump is gonna ban rock&roll. It's true! I saw it on the internet...

Galloping is the a good way vor headbanging riffs! Like Mothorbreath or the Trooper
yeah like that. headbanging riffs like Pantera Groove and thrashy like sound..
Dime BagBarrells tune to Drop C# or lower, chug on the low string and add power chords at will
haha i see. Fair point.. Black Sabbath tunning... @@

I should dislike before you just wrecked myself esteem... i have been working for like two months on a song and i don't even know what kind of chord progression i want. You just go and make an epic rock riff. Still really a freking great video and subscribing to this channel was really really a good choice. Keep it up man!
I'm glad i stayed for the end.
The progression makes me think of paradise city gone acdc

Nice shirt! What is your favorite track on Shockwave Supernova?
You should make a full jam track from this riff.

Hey! Big fan here.. I'm a kinda beginner to guitar tones, so would you mind if you can tell me the amp/pedal used for generating this tone? Thanks
Can you please do a video on lead guitar tones??
I always end up with a perfect tone for riffs but when it comes to lead, it always lacks sustain, feels kinda "dry" and I play a new Marshall tube amp so the problem is on me
Thanks for the help!
Do you have a PRS endorsement?
4:20 ''What shall we use
To fill the empty spaces'' ;)
So is your Guitar Super System essentially just longer more in-depth videos like these? Was thinking of getting it when I could, and wanted to know exactly what it was.
Precisely!
How long have you been playing? I've been playing since 4 months now but I can't change chords quickly. What can I do to get going?
Hey bro, I'd highly recommend my beginner course to you: bit.ly/BBGCE50
I recommend the way I learned: 1. Keep practicing EVERY DAY! 2. Get a strumming pattern down. 3. Just work on changing chords, don't worry to much about making the full chord, just keep strumming, change as clean as you can, repeat. Hope this helped!
siddu malladi get a metronome it helps out a lot
siddu malladi , try finding a few slightly challenging songs to practice with basic chords and you'll be getting better with practice
If you like Pink Floyd, look up the chords for Wish You Were Here. Just try to play each chord as cleanly and accurately as you can and transition between them.
Could you please provide a link to where u got that guitar it would be greatly appreciated 😊
Love it!
Legend says that Tyler replies if i'm early enough.....
THE LEGENDS ARE TRUE
I KNEW IT!!! Much love from India, Tyler!
Sure man! PM me or something!! Im desperate for jams and meeting other musicians !!!
This channel is Win
Why does this guy have wizards in his fingers

Please demonstrate.
awesomeness2595 I would just embarrass you all.
Watch out, we've got a badass over here.
Dave
For some reason I feel like I could play a few simple pentatonics and you would be impressed. Or maybe play the tetris theme and you'd give up playing guitar forever.
Te amo!

What delay are you using ?
He loves his triads
Whats a pedophiles favourite chord?
A-Minor
What amp are you using? :D
That PRS sounds like Seth Lover's little brother.
Are u in standard tuning?
2:37 school of rock - zack's song
I wish I had the ability to add drums to my tracks. I cant play a beat!
www.toontrack.com/ezdrummer-line/

Judas Priest...

Are you vegan or something, I saw you drinkin almond milk :3
Lord Turtle Ⓥ Drinking almond milk does not automatically classify someone as vegan. Get real.
That's why I asked the question.
Damn D:
i drink almond milk as it doesnt upset my stomach and tastes awesome with vita britts. not really costlier either
AcDc highway to hell
not bad or anything, dosnt seem uplifting or epic to me though. more like classic rocky
bla bla bla!
