    My wife and I love the A330 particularly because of the 2x4x2 economy cabin layout. So much better than the 777. This neo version looks even better. Looking forward to flying it one day.

    Airbus truly have a winner with that new wingtip design they have introduced on the A350 and now also use (a bit) on the A330neo.

    I find it amazing that Airbus have been able to take what is basically an aircraft which started development in the late 1960's coming into service in the early 1970's (A300) and have ended up with something which just doesn't seem to show its age (Airbus must have a picture in their attic!)
    Agreed, some of the newer designs with their extensive use of composites might have improved fuel burns, but economics as a whole over whichever part of the lifespan an airline choses to operate it is probably far more important.
    The fact that they have done so much to something so old, or perhaps the newer clean-sheet designs do so little extra with something so new does make me wonder from where the next major improvement will come.
    It also begs the question - What would Boeing have done with the 767 had an Airbus type of Management been running them?
    Loved the video, one of the best so far. I look forward to seeing even more of this type covering how a specific model line has been updated and improved.

      @@oneskyflyer Taking into account that the A330 evolved from the A300 and its derivatives, and that some of those derivatives are pretty much the appropriate size to nicely fill the increasingly relevant gap between the A330 and A320 series of aircraft, I wonder how feasible it would be to create a 'shrink' based on the A330 with new composite (optimised for the reduced size of aircraft) wings and tail section? I am guessing that something rather impressive could be achieved at a far lower cost than Boeing could achieve with either a clean sheet design, or from the 767 which would possibly now require just too much development to make it a viable option. I am thinking that the cross section of the A350 is just too wide to be appropriate for an aircraft capacity of 200 to 250. Perhaps even something to be explored in a future video about how Airbus and Boeing could fill the gap?

    What its surprising to me its that the A330 Neo wing its the most aerodynamic efficient in terms of induced drag. A330 Neo wing aspect ratio its 11 that its higher than a 777X, 787 and A350 so the wing its more slender and generates less induced drag.

    This is what engineering is all about. Passenger comfort. That' what sticks out to me here. Airbus really went all out on this one. Which I can't say for Boeing with they're design of the 787 program which had delay's after delays. And yet they're still delays with the 777-X -9 program. Boeing needs they're engineers back. And if I'm not mistaken. Hasn't the 787 program been suspended. At least that was mentioned on another RUclips feed.

    • @hishamosman4341
      @hishamosman4341 Год назад

      Boeing cut corners and that eventually led to the problems they have now? It is now close to 2 years that the FAA still holding Boeing to account for their various quality issues. Their 777X had fuselage cracks that led it to be scrutinized till now? Hope Boeing get their act back to where they used to be? Airbus is reaping the benefits across all of their model line-up's. If Airbus comes up with a completely new model to sit between the A350 and the A330 Neos, then it will definitely nail the coffin to Boeing for sure. I think Boeing should seriously ponder of creating a new 757 or 767, something to sit between their 777 and 787 because I forsee many airlines may opt for 250-280 seater that can go the distance? A direct hub-to-hub aircraft must be a priority rather then resorting to transit connectivity module simply to save fuel over a span of a fiscal year. Airbus hit the jackpot with their A220 and their new A321 models as most airlines could service domestic routes more effectively. I believe Boeing will eventually get over with their crisis at hand? We now have to wait for financial reports from airlines flying their now recently approved 737 Max in order to gain any significant data of its effectiveness. Pray that the MCAS system is fully sorted out by now?

      @@hishamosman4341 So true. The 767's and 757"s are out dated. But for some odd reason airlines are using them like a work horse. It's interesting to see them in plane spotting on the RUclips vid's. But it's unfortunate that air bus is having some issues with the paint job on they're 350's The CEO of Qatar is not letting them slide on the situation. But regardless the 350 is one of my favorites from Airbus

    • @dmcr9525
      @dmcr9525 Год назад

      @Sebastian Floyd This would likely not be possible and they have already been forced to redesign the fuel tanks for the XLR which are at max capacity as it is. At this point, range would not be able to be extended. This very issue is causing delays for the XLR.

    • @dmcr9525
      @dmcr9525 Год назад

      @Sebastian Floyd That’s just the thing, the LR is an extended range neo, and the XLR is the ultra long range version of the neo. However, it’s at its fuel capacity limit and EASA has made Airbus modify the fuel tanks, which is resulting in a delayed entry into service. The airframe is maxed out to it’s range capacity with the XLR. At this point there is no way it can be further extended. The LR is essentially an ER with a different designation, and the XLR is a further extended range variant. They simply cannot be extended any more than those 2 already are. There is no way to make a safe ULR or XER as you say.

    • @dmcr9525
      @dmcr9525 Год назад

      @Sebastian Floyd If I were at Airbus I would not want to take that gamble. I say this because it would essentially be an A350-900 size aircraft, but not as wide. The wing would have to be modified extensively, and the engines would have to be more powerful than the current Trent 7000’s. This would overall decrease its efficiency, making it less attractive. On top of that it would compete with the A350 as well, which would not be a good idea. The range would also be less than that of the A330-900 which would not make a good business case for airlines. One of the reason I feel that A330neo sales are slow and makes it less attractive is because it has a sole engine option. Another issue would be price point. The -900neo is approximately $298 million at list prices, and would make a -1000 more expensive (about $335 million) than an A350-900 (about $320 million) and would not be as efficient. On the other side of the pond, a similarly sized 787-10 is $338 million at list prices, and would have a greater range, capacity and fuel efficiency. So simply put Boothe the A350 and 787 would blow it out of the water in terms of capacity, comfort, value, and efficiency. I just don’t see a business case for it and I feel even an A350-800 would be a much better plane over all than an A330-1000neo.

    • @aarondynamics1311
      @aarondynamics1311 3 года назад

      I think that, after the A321XLR enters service, Airbus should start development of a brand new A330 replacement. It would be a great time to do it as it would likely enter service in the early 2030s and at that point, the 787 will have been in service for around 20 years and so airlines will be looking to retire their oldest aircraft. It would also allow Airbus to completely fill the gap between the A321XLR and the A350-900, with a base variant designed to replace the A330-200/800, a stretched variant designed to replace the A330-300/900 and a de-rated, 787-3-like variant designed to replace the 757-300 and 767-200
