I watch both you and Wild4Games. Wild gave us good advice to do an indie or new game that not everyone streams yet. It's not going to work for everyone, and people should be picking and choosing advice that works for them anyways, but I played a game called "Super Animal Royale" and got over 25 followers before playing anything else. Now I play other games and keep getting more followers but that Indie game helped me out a ton. It's a plus when the devs retweet you and stuff.
I just want to say thank you. I've been looking to get into streaming/content creation but I have had the feeling like streaming full time was not the way to go, despite my friends constant insistence that it was. You have helped me realize that in order to grow I need to cast a wider net with my content until I find what works best. I’ve been watching every video you have put up since I started streaming in December. All of your tips have slowly started my growth. Twitter was the biggest improvement, I’ve never had or use Twitter but I forced myself on to the platform and which in turn has increased my consistency of viewers. Even last night my channel was raided with 9 viewers because of a relationship I’ve made on twitter with another streamer. If you’re like me, you have a family, kids and a full time job. You can still make streaming an extension of your life if you really want it. Thank you for your content.
Some good advice I've received not mentioned in top comments or in the video is to watch your own stream replays. Understand what you're doing or not doing. Compare yourself to other streamers. What makes you less entertaining or watchable than someone else?

finally a video on the subject, I've always thought streamers tips and tricks have been a bit ridiculous or fluffy. They say mostly general tips that everyone gives because nobody really thinks about the anwer
It's the same with dating advice. "Just be yourself" is a horrible advice when it never worked for you. "Be your best possible self" is an entire different story and doesn't mean to be somebody you're not. But it indicates that work is to be done to achieve any kind of success.
Your advice is the best iv'e heard. I feel the same way. Don't go onto Twitch putting hours and hours of wasted time and content into the abyss where no one is ever going to see it unless of course you're practicing your streaming skills. Don't "Do it for fun" nor "Stream daily for hours and eventually you'll grow". I mean yes you need to have fun and enjoy what you're doing but if you want to grow and potentially turn something into a career, you need to take it seriously enough that you create a plan, put in the work, and actively go after it in the most effective way possible. Otherwise, all you're doing is leaving it up to random chance that someone stumbles across your channel. AFAIK, the Twitch algorithm doesn't care how much you stream in terms of discoverability.
Thank you for doing this, you had a good look into all of those answers. Advice you hear is consistency (schedule, game, energy level, etc), being active on social media and not just posting when you are live, the stream for fun is a big one, play what you like, dont play saturated games, ask open ended questions or have question of the day, etc. Thats all I can think of at the moment.
The don't ignore the numbers tip was really good. I notice that when I stream as well, I used to not pay too much attention to it. But now when I do notice a loss, I realize I wasn't talking at all even to myself to get people more interested. Then when I change that, within minutes or hours, I get more people talking and even a couple follows here and there. Love the videos, love the lessons. I learn something every time

Best piece of advice I ever got for streaming: Instead of streaming every day, take that time you would be streaming and spend it in other peoples' channels learning about what the next "tier" up does (if you're at 5 viewers, check out people with 15-20; at 15-20, check out people with ~50, etc.) and see what you can take away from it, and also meet people and make friends. The more legitimate friends you make, the more people there are out there potentially bringing THEIR friends to your stream to support you. Combining this with your advice, maybe it's best to split your twitch time between: 1) streaming 2) being an active community member of twitch and 3) creating content on (an)other platform(s) to build an audience you can bring to your channel Thanks again man. Solid advice, as always.
I honestly really appreciate how honest you're being about this. I think when people get asked these questions they tend to just give the answers that everyone wants to hear, no one wants to hear that becoming a successful streamer is really f*cking hard work, of course someone is gonna hear "Just do it for fun and you'll grow eventually" because that feels good and reassuring, but the reality is much different. Advice I’ve given, is don’t look at the numbers in the moment. Don’t ignore the numbers though. For some people, myself included, seeing a dip in numbers going from 30 down to 18 or worse....10...it’s disheartening when I’m trying my best. So what I do is I hide the view count. I then after stream look at the view counts rise and dips from my stream report. I take that information, look back at the stream VOD and see what happened. Hosts that worked, when people chose to follow, sub, donate, etc. So I’m very much into not looking and calling out view counts while streaming, but I say never ignore them if you want to grow.
Technically I advanced to affiliate(I had that offer and accepted it) but now keeps reminding me to pass back to being again an affiliate and yeah, I guess it's just because I stopped streaming for awhile and like tries to push me back to my things I was used to do
right like we supposed to have at the least 3 viewers a stream and have 50follower like twitch for some of us 3 viewers on one stream feels like your shroud and you feel f=good for whole day let alone 50 FOLLOWERS we would probs have a heart attack XD

There is the same problem with RUclips advice. I see so many creators just starting out, telling other people to just do it for fun, not worry about the content and just make what they want to make. That's not gonna work. There's so much more that goes into actually being discoverable both on RUclips and Twitch. People are really giving out bad advice and giving them false hope of ever becoming successful. Thank you for talking about this because it drives me nuts.
Cosmic Crouton youtube is so much easier my guy I have a friend who made it to 30 k subs in a few months and is now over 40k and he just made rocket league videos nothing different than everybody else
People should see twitch/growing on youtube as a business. thats a best way how a person can succeed. many times I see that people who do it just for Fun wont even succeed.

I liked the numbers advice one. I used to never look at my views because it would get me down to know I am on 0 or 1.. But actually, when you are getting people drop by and you play one game and you're at 10 views and another game you only get 3, you know to possibly do that 3 view game less and the 10 view game more but if you're not looking at the numbers, you wouldnt know this
Thats why I don't look at the viewer count during streaming but look at the report that stream labs or twitch sends you once you finish streaming. You can see how many people were in your stream, how many chatted, and a bunch of other interesting stats.
I enjoy watching these advice videos, they're so helpful. Yes the advice from the past is not up-to-date but I think the "do it just for fun" is so helpful for the mindset going into it. Nobody is going to have success out the gate. Personally speaking I've been streaming for two years nearly & I see people who only start get affiliate & have more followers. Now my thinking is do those people that rush in to join groups, donate a ton of cash to get noticed, follow everyone etc. Do they have a strong foundation. I honestly don't think so & that could cause them to quit. Who knows
Yea it can help, but people could take that as don't put in the effort to produce professional quality streams. I think you need a balance of for fun, and I want this to look good and be entertaining.
Better cut it off sooner than later. Because the more you grow, the more it hurts you when you eventually change the game because this one right there just isn't fun for you anymore. You can grow with a lot of games that are also fun to you, so focus on finding those and be entertaining in general, so people stay because of you and not the game in particular.
If I may try to answer your question as well, it’s your audience, if you begin to dislike the game then voice it and switch things up, maybe take 1 day you stream each week and make it a different game - you might not retain all viewers but the ones that truly support you will continue to have your back and you won’t be going into a new game with 0 viewers you have to build back up.
Really good advice Alpha. If pepole want to make this their job they have to take it seriously. Streaming on Twitch, RUclips, or any platform is impossible if you can't get discovered, and bringing in an audience is the hardest part. Keeping them there is an entirely different difficult beast, but getting that audience to even find you and give you that opportunity is the ultimate struggle. Always reflect on yourself, your streams, your content, and see what you can do better, how you can improve- because if you don't try and make each stream or video better than the last, you won't succeed. You can't grow when you're ok with mediocrity and complacency. It's hard, it's a lot of time and effort, and it is SLOW but it's possible.
Worst advice ive heard is logos and graphics dont matter which i think is untrue. The very first thing people see before they click on you is your logo...and if its a fortnite skin 😂 no ones clicking on it. Good graphics,logo and a good lit webcam 👍🏼
First thing that matters is the quality. If you're stream is constantly jittery and freezes or has bad audio. People will click off you faster than they clicked on you. Quality is what sells in 2019 on twitch that's the first step in separating yourself from the casuals.
Hi Alpha! Great videos, I've started taking twitch more seriously after watching your videos. I did my first stream a few days ago, it was RE Revelations and I played for an hr. I had two people watching and they never said anything and I tried to talk and there were crickets haha, it was a surreal experience but you videos gave me the direction I needed to give it a shot. I've been doing youtube for years and haven't even hit 500 subs, so I doubt I'll be bringing any followers to Twitch, but I do think Twitch has the potential to out RUclips RUclips, so I want to try to get in on it anyways. And even though I'm new at streaming the only advice I can think of is what I've been telling myself: I'm going to be playing video games anyways, why not try and stream and potentially grow it into something special. Keep making awesome content and if you do a channel review stream or video, I would like to know how to apply for feedback. Thanks!
UNCANNY GEORGE I am not positive but I am pretty sure if you have your chat up you get two bot viewers and they just stay there if you see 3 viewers that’s how you know you have a real viewer

I always have at least 1 viewer which I assume is a bot. But I still treat it like an actual viewer in case someone drops in. I don't always see the notification. Plus it's good practice since I've on streamed a couple times.
I think one of the best pieces of advice, for me personally, is where you said that the people you most often see succeed are the ones that get up early grind all day. Either streaming or making content out of the previous streams, or working social media. Then go to sleep for 4 hours and do it all over again. That's already my kind of work ethic and sleep schedule. Now all I have to do is learn the editing program, and how to social media.
Hey Harris- I haven't started streaming yet as I'm still getting up to speed on how to actually stream. But I have found your advice on streaming quite helpful and also inspiring. As well as thus far being the best overall advice I've seen anywhere on how to stream in general, regardless of the platform, since much of your advice can be carried over on to other platforms. Even when you are talking about the negative, or possibly negative aspects of streaming you are encouraging to your audience. I find you to be direct. honest, and straight forward, which speaks volumes about your character. For those who don't know what they are doing, or are just learning, or those who have started streaming but are looking for tips and ways to improve their streams, you are a great guide! I truly appreciate you and your helpful videos, so thank you very much, and I wish you much continued success!!

I've kind agree on the part where the numbers can help us notice where we can grow and improve and what we are doing it right, but I think what the streamer was really trying to say is that: "Don't be metrics driven" it is actually an advice I've heard from different and very influential Entrepreneurs RUclipsrs, like Gary Veynerchuk for example. That is said for you not to think as the numbers as a definition for you as a person. Your advice for the metrics is really solid, but I think that the stremer expressed himself a little bad and you interpretated based on what you've heard from him. Anyhow was real solid advice, thanks for that ^_^
Yo man. I think what you should add to the "do not look at your numbers" thingy. When you are, like I am, a tiny tiny streamer with MAYBE 3-10 Viewers, or sticking to 1 Viewer for days on days on days. There is nothing you really can reflect on yet, because there was no change yet. Looking at your viewer count always being at 1 can and will be disheartening for everyone once in a while. When you are at a level you can drop 40 viewers, yes than you are absolutely right, reflect on what might have caused it. Now when you say you completely disagree, could you give us tiny tiny streamers hints on what we can reflect on? And just my very own wish, please turn of discord notifications during recording, it made me check my devices where a mention was ^^
One of the best advices I've heard regarding crowdfunging campaign, can, I guess, be applied for streamers. It is: build your crowd/tribe before you start a campaign. They say that you should get 30% of support through other media/channels before the campaign, and then when you start it, and your crowd support you, the others will instantly follow.
I feel like partnered streamers give a lot of answers that work for them now vs. what worked for them growing. It's easy to not worry about the numbers when you have a regular 1k viewers and tons of Subs. When you play a game you like, but your community doesn't and numbers drop it doesn't feel like a big deal, because your base is already strong. Someone like me you goes between 3 and 10 viewers has to really focus on what is working and what isn't. Thanks for pointing out what many people are unwilling to say about Twitch growth.

This is a FANTASTIC video of what I've been saying to my smaller streamer friends. You CAN NOT make it as a streamer the same you could even 3 years ago. It takes hard work, dedication, and analysis of yourself/stream. After 2 years of streaming and following the old advice I got nowhere. Following advice at least somewhat close to this has shown more progress than the past 2 years. So THANK YOU, for making this video and re affirming my thoughts on what needs to be done in 2019.
This was so necessary to make. I'm now at my THIRD (mayby permanent) break from streaming because I got these false expectations. It's so important to look at the whole picture of the advice that is given to you and your video does this well. A way to round up all of this advice is to be obsessed about your stream. Obsession is demonized when it shouldn't be. There's nothing wrong with being focused on making your stream become what you want it to become. Watching this video took up 14 minutes from the roughly 30-60 min I have while my daughter and wife nap. At the same time, I was browsing Fiverr for overlay designers. To add one more piece of advice, which AG has already discussed several times in other videos, it's important to network. Visiting other streamers and raiding other streamers is a surefire to grow your influence. You can show up to another person's stream and give some baseline feedback, such as their mic cutting out or their lighting being too low. I've appreciated every single person who has taken the time to tell me that they can't hear me clearly.
girlfriends a passionate accountant, BUT... she's sitting here with me watching this and loves the content and advise you give just as much as the rest of us. This is not only helping me, but it helps her in several other things (Didn't mention this, but she is not just an accountant, she's been in charge of several things at Green Hills and such, so it helps her in ways you might not be able to imagine). I agree mostly with what you said, but I don't think everyone wants a career out of streaming... Surely, many people do, but some people just stream games for fun and have a different job altogether, let's not forget that.
I'm an Accountant, don't worry you won't have any passionate accountants coming to hound you, cause as you said nobody is passionate about Accounting xD You explained verbatim why I choose the career: "because you're good at it and it's good money, and you do what you want when you're not accounting." I saw about 30 your videos by now and I find this vide MOST helpful from them all. Mainly that part about watching a number of viewers... I was hiding it for years because I was annoyed when I lost some of my viewers... But! Now I realise I have to watch that number and reflect in my behaviour and recognize what I am doing bad and what I am doing right. Thank you!
Right off the bat, that first clip. I've NEVER taken that advice seriously. I started in November with every intention of succeeding. No, there is absolutely no guarantee I will make it, but dang dude. That advice says 2 things to me. 1: Just try it and maybe you'll get lucky, because there is no amount of work that can help you succeed at streaming, and 2: I'm a big streamer, and the more of you that get big too, the less popular I become. So here's some bad advice. I put everything in me into everything I do, which includes streaming.
Some advice I have heard that is both good and bad is to have a Discord. Which is good as you can build a community there. However, there are a ton of Discords out there now and no one seems to have really good advice on what to do once you create a Discord for your stream/channel.
So I usually tell other streamers and I've broken down many things to something I call 'The 3 C's'. 1. Consistency 2. Community and Content. Would you consider this bad advice? Harris I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on this. Btw I LOVE your videos, keep it up dude.

I watch both you and Wild4Games. Wild gave us good advice to do an indie or new game that not everyone streams yet. It's not going to work for everyone, and people should be picking and choosing advice that works for them anyways, but I played a game called "Super Animal Royale" and got over 25 followers before playing anything else. Now I play other games and keep getting more followers but that Indie game helped me out a ton. It's a plus when the devs retweet you and stuff.

I've been looking to get into streaming/content creation but I have had the feeling like streaming full time was not the way to go, despite my friends constant insistence that it was. I’ve been watching every video you have put up since I started streaming in December. All of your tips have slowly started my growth. Twitter was the biggest improvement, I’ve never had or use Twitter but I forced myself on to the platform and which in turn has increased my consistency of viewers. Even last night my channel was raided with 9 viewers because of a relationship I’ve made on twitter with another streamer. If you’re like me, you have a family, kids and a full time job. You can still make streaming an extension of your life if you really want it. Thank you for your content.

Some good advice I've received not mentioned in top comments or in the video is to watch your own stream replays. Understand what you're doing or not doing. Compare yourself to other streamers. What makes you less entertaining or watchable than someone else?

finally a video on the subject, I've always thought streamers tips and tricks have been a bit ridiculous or fluffy. They say mostly general tips that everyone gives because nobody really thinks about the anwer
Thank God someone finally gave an honest answer like this. This whole "just have fun, be yourself" is just a very lazy answer and leads people nowhere
It's the same with dating advice. "Just be yourself" is a horrible advice when it never worked for you. "Be your best possible self" is an entire different story and doesn't mean to be somebody you're not. But it indicates that work is to be done to achieve any kind of success.

Your advice is the best iv'e heard. I feel the same way. Don't go onto Twitch putting hours and hours of wasted time and content into the abyss where no one is ever going to see it unless of course you're practicing your streaming skills.
Don't "Do it for fun" nor "Stream daily for hours and eventually you'll grow". I mean yes you need to have fun and enjoy what you're doing but if you want to grow and potentially turn something into a career, you need to take it seriously enough that you create a plan, put in the work, and actively go after it in the most effective way possible.
Otherwise, all you're doing is leaving it up to random chance that someone stumbles across your channel. AFAIK, the Twitch algorithm doesn't care how much you stream in terms of discoverability.
Thank you for doing this, you had a good look into all of those answers. Advice you hear is consistency (schedule, game, energy level, etc), being active on social media and not just posting when you are live, the stream for fun is a big one, play what you like, dont play saturated games, ask open ended questions or have question of the day, etc. Thats all I can think of at the moment.
I liked the video where you speak about the "find bucket." That's the video that convinced me you know your stuff.
The don't ignore the numbers tip was really good. I notice that when I stream as well, I used to not pay too much attention to it. But now when I do notice a loss, I realize I wasn't talking at all even to myself to get people more interested. Then when I change that, within minutes or hours, I get more people talking and even a couple follows here and there. Love the videos, love the lessons. I learn something every time

Best piece of advice I ever got for streaming:
Instead of streaming every day, take that time you would be streaming and spend it in other peoples' channels learning about what the next "tier" up does (if you're at 5 viewers, check out people with 15-20; at 15-20, check out people with ~50, etc.) and see what you can take away from it, and also meet people and make friends. The more legitimate friends you make, the more people there are out there potentially bringing THEIR friends to your stream to support you.
Combining this with your advice, maybe it's best to split your twitch time between:
1) streaming
2) being an active community member of twitch
and 3) creating content on (an)other platform(s) to build an audience you can bring to your channel

I honestly really appreciate how honest you're being about this. I think when people get asked these questions they tend to just give the answers that everyone wants to hear, no one wants to hear that becoming a successful streamer is really f*cking hard work, of course someone is gonna hear "Just do it for fun and you'll grow eventually" because that feels good and reassuring, but the reality is much different.

Advice I’ve given, is don’t look at the numbers in the moment. Don’t ignore the numbers though. For some people, myself included, seeing a dip in numbers going from 30 down to 18 or worse....10...it’s disheartening when I’m trying my best. So what I do is I hide the view count. I then after stream look at the view counts rise and dips from my stream report. I take that information, look back at the stream VOD and see what happened. Hosts that worked, when people chose to follow, sub, donate, etc.
So I’m very much into not looking and calling out view counts while streaming, but I say never ignore them if you want to grow.

Technically I advanced to affiliate(I had that offer and accepted it) but now keeps reminding me to pass back to being again an affiliate and yeah, I guess it's just because I stopped streaming for awhile and like tries to push me back to my things I was used to do
right like we supposed to have at the least 3 viewers a stream and have 50follower like twitch for some of us 3 viewers on one stream feels like your shroud and you feel f=good for whole day let alone 50 FOLLOWERS we would probs have a heart attack XD

There is the same problem with RUclips advice. I see so many creators just starting out, telling other people to just do it for fun, not worry about the content and just make what they want to make. That's not gonna work. There's so much more that goes into actually being discoverable both on RUclips and Twitch. People are really giving out bad advice and giving them false hope of ever becoming successful. Thank you for talking about this because it drives me nuts.

People should see twitch/growing on youtube as a business. thats a best way how a person can succeed. many times I see that people who do it just for Fun wont even succeed.

I liked the numbers advice one. I used to never look at my views because it would get me down to know I am on 0 or 1.. But actually, when you are getting people drop by and you play one game and you're at 10 views and another game you only get 3, you know to possibly do that 3 view game less and the 10 view game more but if you're not looking at the numbers, you wouldnt know this
Thats why I don't look at the viewer count during streaming but look at the report that stream labs or twitch sends you once you finish streaming. You can see how many people were in your stream, how many chatted, and a bunch of other interesting stats.

I enjoy watching these advice videos, they're so helpful. Yes the advice from the past is not up-to-date but I think the "do it just for fun" is so helpful for the mindset going into it. Nobody is going to have success out the gate. Personally speaking I've been streaming for two years nearly & I see people who only start get affiliate & have more followers. Now my thinking is do those people that rush in to join groups, donate a ton of cash to get noticed, follow everyone etc. Do they have a strong foundation. I honestly don't think so & that could cause them to quit. Who knows
Yea it can help, but people could take that as don't put in the effort to produce professional quality streams. I think you need a balance of for fun, and I want this to look good and be entertaining.

What do you suggest when you grow an audience on one game but you grow to dislike the game and want to play something else?
Better cut it off sooner than later. Because the more you grow, the more it hurts you when you eventually change the game because this one right there just isn't fun for you anymore. You can grow with a lot of games that are also fun to you, so focus on finding those and be entertaining in general, so people stay because of you and not the game in particular.
If I may try to answer your question as well, it’s your audience, if you begin to dislike the game then voice it and switch things up, maybe take 1 day you stream each week and make it a different game - you might not retain all viewers but the ones that truly support you will continue to have your back and you won’t be going into a new game with 0 viewers you have to build back up.
Ok so you can said like example you stream Raid Shadow Legends on twitch or RUclips and most people hates it but some people likes it
Really good advice Alpha. If pepole want to make this their job they have to take it seriously. Streaming on Twitch, RUclips, or any platform is impossible if you can't get discovered, and bringing in an audience is the hardest part. Keeping them there is an entirely different difficult beast, but getting that audience to even find you and give you that opportunity is the ultimate struggle. Always reflect on yourself, your streams, your content, and see what you can do better, how you can improve- because if you don't try and make each stream or video better than the last, you won't succeed. You can't grow when you're ok with mediocrity and complacency. It's hard, it's a lot of time and effort, and it is SLOW but it's possible.
Worst advice ive heard is logos and graphics dont matter which i think is untrue. The very first thing people see before they click on you is your logo...and if its a fortnite skin 😂 no ones clicking on it. Good graphics,logo and a good lit webcam 👍🏼

First thing that matters is the quality. If you're stream is constantly jittery and freezes or has bad audio. People will click off you faster than they clicked on you. Quality is what sells in 2019 on twitch that's the first step in separating yourself from the casuals.
Hi Alpha! Great videos, I've started taking twitch more seriously after watching your videos. I did my first stream a few days ago, it was RE Revelations and I played for an hr. I had two people watching and they never said anything and I tried to talk and there were crickets haha, it was a surreal experience but you videos gave me the direction I needed to give it a shot. I've been doing youtube for years and haven't even hit 500 subs, so I doubt I'll be bringing any followers to Twitch, but I do think Twitch has the potential to out RUclips RUclips, so I want to try to get in on it anyways. And even though I'm new at streaming the only advice I can think of is what I've been telling myself: I'm going to be playing video games anyways, why not try and stream and potentially grow it into something special. Keep making awesome content and if you do a channel review stream or video, I would like to know how to apply for feedback. Thanks!

I always have at least 1 viewer which I assume is a bot. But I still treat it like an actual viewer in case someone drops in. I don't always see the notification. Plus it's good practice since I've on streamed a couple times.

I think one of the best pieces of advice, for me personally, is where you said that the people you most often see succeed are the ones that get up early grind all day. Either streaming or making content out of the previous streams, or working social media. Then go to sleep for 4 hours and do it all over again. That's already my kind of work ethic and sleep schedule. Now all I have to do is learn the editing program, and how to social media.
Hey Harris- I haven't started streaming yet as I'm still getting up to speed on how to actually stream. But I have found your advice on streaming quite helpful and also inspiring. As well as thus far being the best overall advice I've seen anywhere on how to stream in general, regardless of the platform, since much of your advice can be carried over on to other platforms. Even when you are talking about the negative, or possibly negative aspects of streaming you are encouraging to your audience. I find you to be direct. honest, and straight forward, which speaks volumes about your character. For those who don't know what they are doing, or are just learning, or those who have started streaming but are looking for tips and ways to improve their streams, you are a great guide! I truly appreciate you and your helpful videos, so thank you very much, and I wish you much continued success!!

I've kind agree on the part where the numbers can help us notice where we can grow and improve and what we are doing it right, but I think what the streamer was really trying to say is that: "Don't be metrics driven" it is actually an advice I've heard from different and very influential Entrepreneurs RUclipsrs, like Gary Veynerchuk for example. That is said for you not to think as the numbers as a definition for you as a person. Your advice for the metrics is really solid, but I think that the stremer expressed himself a little bad and you interpretated based on what you've heard from him. Anyhow was real solid advice, thanks for that ^_^

Yo man. I think what you should add to the "do not look at your numbers" thingy.
When you are, like I am, a tiny tiny streamer with MAYBE 3-10 Viewers, or sticking to 1 Viewer for days on days on days.
There is nothing you really can reflect on yet, because there was no change yet.
Looking at your viewer count always being at 1 can and will be disheartening for everyone once in a while.
When you are at a level you can drop 40 viewers, yes than you are absolutely right, reflect on what might have caused it.
Now when you say you completely disagree, could you give us tiny tiny streamers hints on what we can reflect on?
And just my very own wish, please turn of discord notifications during recording, it made me check my devices where a mention was ^^

One of the best advices I've heard regarding crowdfunging campaign, can, I guess, be applied for streamers. It is: build your crowd/tribe before you start a campaign. They say that you should get 30% of support through other media/channels before the campaign, and then when you start it, and your crowd support you, the others will instantly follow.

I feel like partnered streamers give a lot of answers that work for them now vs. what worked for them growing. It's easy to not worry about the numbers when you have a regular 1k viewers and tons of Subs. When you play a game you like, but your community doesn't and numbers drop it doesn't feel like a big deal, because your base is already strong. Someone like me you goes between 3 and 10 viewers has to really focus on what is working and what isn't. Thanks for pointing out what many people are unwilling to say about Twitch growth.

This is a FANTASTIC video of what I've been saying to my smaller streamer friends. You CAN NOT make it as a streamer the same you could even 3 years ago. It takes hard work, dedication, and analysis of yourself/stream. After 2 years of streaming and following the old advice I got nowhere. Following advice at least somewhat close to this has shown more progress than the past 2 years.
So THANK YOU, for making this video and re affirming my thoughts on what needs to be done in 2019.
This was so necessary to make. I'm now at my THIRD (mayby permanent) break from streaming because I got these false expectations. I worked so hard everyday trying to make it and there is SO much time going into it with hardly ANY progression. The time of growing out of nowhere is OVER. People need to realise this.

Remember you are an entertainer first, and a gamer second.
This is the #1 advice I've ever gotten.
It's so important to look at the whole picture of the advice that is given to you and your video does this well. A way to round up all of this advice is to be obsessed about your stream. Obsession is demonized when it shouldn't be. There's nothing wrong with being focused on making your stream become what you want it to become. Watching this video took up 14 minutes from the roughly 30-60 min I have while my daughter and wife nap. At the same time, I was browsing Fiverr for overlay designers.
To add one more piece of advice, which AG has already discussed several times in other videos, it's important to network. Visiting other streamers and raiding other streamers is a surefire to grow your influence. You can show up to another person's stream and give some baseline feedback, such as their mic cutting out or their lighting being too low. I've appreciated every single person who has taken the time to tell me that they can't hear me clearly.

I saw about 30 your videos by now and I find this vide MOST helpful from them all.
Mainly that part about watching a number of viewers... I was hiding it for years because I was annoyed when I lost some of my viewers... But! Now I realise I have to watch that number and reflect in my behaviour and recognize what I am doing bad and what I am doing right.

Right off the bat, that first clip. I've NEVER taken that advice seriously. I started in November with every intention of succeeding. No, there is absolutely no guarantee I will make it, but dang dude. That advice says 2 things to me. 1: Just try it and maybe you'll get lucky, because there is no amount of work that can help you succeed at streaming, and 2: I'm a big streamer, and the more of you that get big too, the less popular I become. So here's some bad advice. I put everything in me into everything I do, which includes streaming.
Some advice I have heard that is both good and bad is to have a Discord. Which is good as you can build a community there. However, there are a ton of Discords out there now and no one seems to have really good advice on what to do once you create a Discord for your stream/channel.
So I usually tell other streamers and I've broken down many things to something I call 'The 3 C's'. 1. Consistency 2. Community and Content. Would you consider this bad advice? Harris I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on this. Btw I LOVE your videos, keep it up dude.
