      John Riggs: RIGG'd Games I actually enjoyed WCW vs NWO World Tour over Revenge. Lots of Japanese wrestlers (and wrestlers that wrestled in Japan) that were renamed on that game. Also Hannibal was the best character.

      Because Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 is a superior game. It's basically the Japanese equivalent of WWF WrestleMania 2000, only with more features, and all the moves from the previous games.

      Def Jam Vendetta I'd hardly consider a wrestling game. it's an arcade style fighting game for people who didnt have the attention span to play No Mercy or Virtual Pro Wrestling. AKI had nothing to do with em either.

    I love your channel. I've been suffering from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, social disorder, and some other bullshit but I recently got back into gaming because of you and other You Tubers which coincidentally you know and do videos together at times. You have great content and awesome co-hosts, but what makes this more awesome and you've said more than once is that you don't know everything and you bring in people that do. That's a person that knows his faults and is not afraid to tell others about it and what's cool is that the other You Tubers are the same. You are what you eat is the expression I've heard, this is, you are who your friends are. You and your You Tube friends have a fan for life.

    • @MattDesind
      @MattDesind 8 лет назад

      The xbox one was a very sad joke, i wish there was a better way to play them on new systems, the ps4 should like the ps2 games play so i can have my Returns on my ps4. its sad that they just kind of faded away. but hope one day there can be something other then 2K, the new one is okay, but after a few hours its easy to see its safe and not much to it, just like the few before it. Thanks for the video, it was great. now i got to get my Micro out and start playing some FPW 2! also just as a quick aside, have you played many of the DS ones, they are by no means great, but the last one i think 10 or 11, was like a portable version of no mercy, so it was okay, just bland.

  • @tigermuppetcut
    @tigermuppetcut 8 лет назад

    You mentioned wanting to see a grappling engine like King's Soul (PS1) again, that's pretty much what the King of Colosseum series is (KoC Red, KoC Green & KoC2). Also Final Fire Pro Wrestling on GBA is the best portable game (import only, took me ages to track down in person in second hand Japanese stores). Other games to look at are Toukon Retsuden 2 on N64. Toukon Retsuden 3 on PS1, Toukon Retsuden 4 (Dreamcast), AJPW 3 (PS2), Wrestle Kingdom 2 (PS2), and Champion Wrestler (PS1)

  • @JohnRiggs

The reason I imported it was the fact you got to use kendo sticks in matches and continue to wear trench coats versus them only being worn during entrances. Riggs passion for that game is spot on. Japanese wrestling games, which yes! Finally something I can talk about as well. I agree with the Returns and Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 as being some of the best ever made. Though even Virtual Pro 1 even has a soft spot for me, it's all about that era and nuances that make that game still hold up to me as well.
    Of all the games he showed he left out a couple solid titles on the PS2. One being All Star Pro Wrestling 3 (a simulation game with a great presentation), Wrestle Kingdom 2 (the last Japanese wrestling game every released on a console, used a perfected Day or Reckoning engine), and then King of Colosseum 2. Which the KOC series are the true successors to that All Japan : Ouja no Kon on the Playstation .

    John Riggs ROCKS! The 90s was the BEST DECADE EVER! From video games to TV to movies to wrestling! And I'm glad John Riggs knows this even though he isn't a millennial. He's a full on Gen-X (or probably even a boomer but I don't want to call him that lol) and whenever I speak to older people, they always say the 70s or 80s was the best decade ever for gaming and music and everything else (due to their own nostalgia). Whenever I, a millennial, who was born in the 90s say that the 90s was the best decade, older and younger people always say "oh that's just millennial nostalgia." BUT IT ISN'T! THE 1990s WAS THE BEST. AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE BECAUSE JOHN RIGGS SAID SO!

      River City Ransom/Nekketsu Kunio-Kun was overrated as a beat-em-up series, +Mr. Billy Klub. The Final Fight, Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle, and Rushing Beat (a.k.a., Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers, and The Peace Keepers) games all run circles on that game, and there are also other ones that make that franchise inferior as well, such as Battle Circuit, Alien Vs. Predator (arcade), Fist Puncher, Guacamelee, Odin Sphere, and The Takeover.

    Here Comes the Pain was a shit ton of fun, spent so much time dicking around and creating characters from other franchises.
    It still holds up pretty well today too, thanks to how clean the visuals are and the fact that the roster is still pretty recognizable today overall.

      "How in hell" can you not notice that he was actually pointing out Rey Mysterio and called him Eddie Guerrero? He says "the guy in the mask," and I remember from MANY hours of playing Here Comes the Pain that Mysterio is on the back of the case, not Guerrero. So MJR definitely gets a pass from me on that one. Come on, Riggs.

    Jim Steele was the wrestler who wrestled as Wolf Hawkfield from Virtua Fighter, Steele made his debut in 1991 but Six years later is when he dressed-up like Wolf. Throughout his career he worked for USWA, WCW, ECW, All Japan, New Japan, and WWC.

      Hey, question: is there a reason to play the previous two games in the series or is Giant Gram 2000 better/the ultimate version? I don't think there are more than those 3 games and I'd like to know which is the best choice.

    I was thinking 'they are showing wrestling games and haven't mentioned the Fire Pro series'?! Thankfully you did. I am just as passionate about wrestling games and wrestling in general as John Riggs, especially old school. I've played literally dozens of different wrestling games and I can honestly say, I have NOT played a better wrestling game than Fire pro Returns. After playing it, it made it a lot harder playing the newer WWE games. Great video.

    Smackdown vs Raw 2007 was so great, gm mode, kept track of wins and losses, popularity meter is way better than the momentum meter, you could actually hear the difference between a popular wrestler and an unpopular one, the crowd cheered and booed louder for popular wrestlers, wrestler contracts
