"Honestly, they're doing a good job making her reactions very believable." Exactly! lol Everyone's acting frustrated at Sarah's character but the whole point is that she's terrified, confused, and in shock and awe of what's happening to her. Linda Hamilton's performance is excellent and feels completely natural.
@@seandacey8369 I think it's more the fact that movies so seldom have characters responding realistically to stressful situations that some people come to expect all of them to handle this kind of shit as if they were Navy Seals rather than terrified civilians.
Yeah some people got that, others like the diegesus chick are so fucking brain dead. Few things in this world are worse than idiots like that sitting in their comfy living rooms acting like they know how they'd act in a situation like that
Many people know "The terminator" from pop culture but many people haven't seen the original, and don't realize that it's more of a sci-fi thriller/horror movie than an action film!
And the police actually played it semi-smart. They used the press to contact the girl, they told her to wait in public so a killer wouldn't get her alone, they eventually got her to a safe location, and were prepared for a drugged up crazy person to go after her. The police were not prepared for someone who doesn't mind killing in public, who was calmly thinking hisnext attack, and was relatively immune to the weapons used. Figure in-universe the after-attack analysis of the 1984 police station attack was sent to the other police stations around the country, and was part of a lot of curriculums afterwards. SWAT teams would study both sides of that attack to determine what both sides did wrong, and the scary part is that neither side did anything wrong based on what each side knew at the time.
@toddkes5890 It's hard to expect a living tissue over metal endoskeleton time traveler to Uzi its way through Los Angeles to kill the mother of a future resistance leader. Wouldn't even be on my bingo card. I'd rather arrest Reese.
"Which one's the Terminator?!" One went through time and didn't give a rat's ass, the other one went through and was screaming in pain but fought through. The robot's probably the asshole.
This scene is one of the best scenes in movie history: the attention to detail, the suspense, the soundtrack. Absolutely iconic. Even after already knowing how it's gonna end, the suspense still kils me every time in this scene
When it goes into slow motion and the music in the club becomes saturated in reverb as Sarah happens to bend down while the Terminator looks right where she was, is such a genius and gripping moment. How Cameron knew to slow it all down and drown out the music there, I don't know, but you are there with there in that moment. Genius.
6:55 Outstanding edit that gives multiple competing perspectives on a single inciting incident, different people's thought processes. Little things like that are why I subbed. Thank you!
LOL Seriously, there’s a difference between being convincingly oblivious versus being annoying due to a terrible script and bad acting, and Linda Hamilton as Sarah is thankfully the former. Sarah thought Kyle was after her, then all of a sudden he’s actually saving her. She’s confused and in total shock and doesn’t know what to do or how to react. It’s exceptional acting from Hamilton and it’s really a sad that some reactors would rather Sarah act fake tough and badass like nothing important is happening to her. I wish more people appreciated her incredibly convincing performance in T1.
It is hilarious seeing Gen Z realize what we've been telling them all along... The '80s was the best decade to be a kid and movie buff. Mind you, this was 40 years ago as the year is 2024. Watching this in theaters as a 7 year old kid was one of the most awesome experiences in my life. 1984 was a magical year when pit came to movies: This Beverly Hills Cop. Ghostbusters. Gremlins. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Friday the 13th Final Chapter (arguably the best one). A Nightmare on Elm St. The Karate Klid.
7:00 - 7:12 In the part where Reese drives up on the sidewalk, they pass a Thrifty's store as he gets back on the street. I used to work there but around '84-85. Thrifty's became Rite-Aid. Would've been cool to see the set shoot that day but I wasn't there.
Finally you mashup these reactions for this fantastic classic action movie. Thank you from Cairo, Egypt. I just found your amazing channel 4 days ago. Better late than never. Hope you keep it this way with this lovely treats of the reactions. I saw this movie alone for the first time 4 years ago without knowing anything except a warning for the sex scene. But it was fantastic movie and Arnold really nailed the emotionless robotic face.
Pay close attention to when Reese fires the first round with the shotgun - it hits Terminator in the right forearm a fraction of a second before it fires at Sarah, and it's just enough to knock his arm to the side so that he misses her. If Reese shot anywhere else on the cyborg, Sarah would be dead.
As an 80s kid, it does my heart proud to see the younger generation watching and appreciating these old movies. The 80s really was a great time in pop culture. ❤
I love the assumption most of them had that Arnold was the good guy before this scene just because he was the star. May I suggest the dinosaur reveal/ Welcome to Jurassic Park scene
It’s funny because at the time, between his relatively low level career (til this point) in Hollywood and the marketing, it was clear to audiences then that he was the bad guy.
Then if you watch reactions to T2, they think he's the bad guy again until the hallway scene. 😀 What a great reversal from how we experienced it back in the day. These young people benefit from not having seen all the marketing for that second movie, which completely spoiled that reveal.
Always love the behind the scenes on T1, they only had one attempt at smashing the window, a lot of filming was done without permits, so some of the homeless people and nearby people are not aware they are being recorded, Arnold worked to be the same weight etc as T1 in T2 etc, so he looked uniformed like a robot would be and so on
as awesome as Judgment Day is, this one is my favorite of the Terminator franchise. a sci-fi slasher movie with moments like this one that put it at the top of my list.
My dad took me to the movie theaters to see this, I remember clinging to the edge of my seat watching that whole scene. The first two Terminators were absolutely Epic too bad they ended up ruining it.
God getting to finally see this in theaters in 2019 was awesome. I have now seen all Terminator films in theaters, all but 1 Alien and 1 Predator films in theaters as well.
Such a difference in acting from those days and now....they sre so much more believable then...you cant see the acting...thats called AMAZING acting....lol
How the fuck can you live in 2023 and ignore 1) The Terminator is a robot and 2) Arnold Schwarzenegger is the first Terminator? Have this people never heard him being called "Governator" and put 2 and 2 toghether??
Arnold being the good guy in T2 and just T2 in general outshines T1 so much that it's almost incomprehensible. Aliens vs Alien is almost a similar story. And by outshines, I only mean that they are more famous in the average Joe's eye, not that they are necessarily better. Bcoz, imho, they're not, T1 and Alien over T2 and Aliens any day :)
This is my favorite movie ever! I have watched it 14 times now. It has romance, suspense, action, thrill, drama and don't forget science-fiction. The actors are great and the movie is a bit prophetic, if I may say that . 🤘🏼💪🏼
T1 is a mating of the unkiilable killer horror genre with science fiction Sgt Kyle Reese is by far, a PTSD war veteran whose been hunted by the machines all his life. His manic intensity is the polar opposite of the Terminator's souless unfeeling mentality.
TO be honest.....Arnold deserved at least an Oscar nomination.....he doesn't say much but his facial expressions, movements, action scenes......he WAS the t-800.......he was chilling....a freak of nature.....unstoppable.....Don't judge his performance in this movie with some of his other work....He's freaking amazing! This guy gave countless people nightmares after seeing this masterpiece of filmmaking!
People! People! I saw this movie in 1984. The Terminator was made in 1984. Back then action movies were raw and graphically violent. Be prepared if you ever watch 1984 violent flicks. The Terminator scared me and it was a dark story.
Tahnee Cain was the artist that performed this song during the Technoir scene. She also did you cant do that which was also in the Technoir scene but not shown here.
Some of them still asking why is she still there in Tech-Noir, when could clearly see a dead woman body over her. She try to push her away but the body too heavy for her.
imagine.....she doesn't call or calls a few minutes after it's there......the movie kinda ends. It thinks it has killed S. Connor #3, and moves on to the next one......only reason it's rummaging through drawers is because he now knows she's alive and needs to know what she looks like... oh boy
It's important to note, Kyle has never been this close to a Terminator either. Sure he's fought them, with weapons a bit more effective than our own. He just stood 5 feet from an 800 series, with a weapon that only really served to piss it off, and lived. He's freaking out just as much as her. It's why he seems so angry. Because he is. Because he's scared.
What movie did they think they were watching? Are they serious? How is he keep getting up? Why wont he die? Hes fuckin Terminator! Its in the title of the movie. Hes a fuckin robot assassin from the future. The begining of the movie explains all that. It literally says machines are at war with mankind in the future. What did they think machines meant? Next scene in The Terminator (1984) When Kyle Reese tells Sarah Connor about the future and resistance leader John Connor and The Terminator attacks the police station
So...here's a random thought...What would the Terminator do if he succeeded in killing Sarah Connor? His mission would be complete and he'd be stuck in 1984. Would he just shut himself down? And second random thought - what is his power supply? Some kind of battery? Does he need re-charging? (Besides Terminator and Terminator 2 I haven't seen any of the other movies so I don't know if any of those questions are addressed at all.)
Terminator 3 shows that they run on something similar to miniature nuclear reactor cores, when the Terminator recharges his cores he throws the old one out and it explodes in a mushroom cloud. Also, yeah he probably would just kinda linger in 1984 or shut down, either way he's not coming back and I doubt he'd have much of a problem with that lol. Dark Fate showed an alternate timeline where a Terminator shows up and successfully kills John Connor as a kid right after T2, and he kinda just walks away.
I know I'm a bit late with this but you might think on this - if Sarah dies; John isn't born, if John isn't born the terminator never gets sent back in the first place because there is no need to - I think they call it a time paradox.
A lot of them are pissed at Sarah, a character acting like 99.9% of humans would act in this situation. But they’d be cheering if she were an unrealistic badass. It’s just modern sensibilities at work.
"Honestly, they're doing a good job making her reactions very believable." I know it's super frustrating how people don't pay attention.

Wait why tf did some people think Kyle wanted to kill Sarah?
Do a compilation of reactors to the mall scene in T2 when we realize Arnold is a protector Terminator.
Dasha of Russia Reacts is the perfect woman.
Some of them still asking why is she still there in Tech-Noir, when could clearly see a dead woman body over her. She try to push her away but the body too heavy for her.
Because they’re used to watching modern movies where 90-lb females beat up guys three times their size! Lol
your reactors are the best
Arnold before kindergarten cop was the best badass in the movies
Real human response to this situation. Not a Hollywood Woke version of "empowerment". Very fun and scary movie.
