Splatoon 3 DLC Species Ideas

- Опубликовано: 13 июн 2024
- With Splatoon 3 receiving DLC expansions through the form of Inkopolis and especially Side Order, now is the perfect time to introduce new playable species. We have gotten this before with Octolings back in Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion. However, there are a ton of specie ideas within the Splatoon world and community that would make perfect inclusions in the foreseeable future. Expect another Splatoon 3 video soon.

Out of all of these, Cuttlefish are the most likely. Taking in lore, Salmonids didn't evolve with inklings or octolings, but cuttlefish may have.
Also, there's a lot of evidence pointing to the Cuttlefish species being in the game
@@DecadoPrime if you think about it, captain cuttlefish doesnt resemble inklings or octolings. he has ears drooping down, his eyes are quite different, etc. which could hint to him being a cuttleling. Marie and callie could also be cuttlelings. There’s dialogue of them where it hints to that, with marie telling callie “squids have bones, remember?” once. also, they look similar to those two idols with the white and grey hair.
@@-cleoleo-3035 Good thing you mentioned this
@@DecadoPrime yeah it popped in my brain outta nowhere tbh lol
@@-cleoleo-3035 hehe
I think we would need a special wave with salmondlings before we get them playable
ello
I agree. Would be nice to get
I have the same opinion as rasicas with this.
@@PA1NBRU5H Rassicas is awesome
No.
I lone these ideas, the Cuttlelings look so cute, although I almost thought their ears were a pair of chubby cheeks, this would most likely also mean we we could get more lore on those two mysterious cuttlefish idols, maybe we could even get an alternate hub world with them as idols, as though they’re still going
I'm surprised we didn't get a new species revealed for Side Order. Very big missed opportunity with all the evidence
@@DecadoPrime With Side Order being revealed and the heavy presence on coral, I’m surprised we didn’t get Coralings or anemones, like Annie and Harmony
I think corallings or anemones would be super cute! They could even have little clownfish buddies, similar to Smallfry
@@DecadoPrime Female coralings could have hairstyles similar to that of Annie I’m and Harmony. Maybe even some bun hairstyles. Whereas male corallings or anemones could have coral man bibs, similar to classic Inkling Boy’s hairstyle, some Mohawks (Anemohawks) anemo-fros. They could even have little clownfish buddies, similar to Smallfry. However since anemones unfortunately don’t produce ink, the corallings or anemones could release a toxin that acts like ink. It could cover a stage in a big that stays there for a while. Again, acting like ink, covering the ground
@@megansutton9699 Oof I didn't even think of that. Genius idea btw! Honesty that's a fun idea
@@megansutton9699 The ink situation is one I feel can be reworked. Like just have Sheldon make them use ink cartridges for refilling their tanks. I mean it would resemble the way those Splatoon toys were back then
Cuttlings need to exist. It completely works as the “Third” playable species and the cephalopod trio would be complete. Since this is Splatoon 3 we’re talking about, It’s clearly LOGICAL!
Facts. With the whole 3 theming, they should just do it
I'm doubtful we'll get a new species in the dlc, but speculation is always fun! If we do get one, my bet's on cuttlings.
(I expect that we _will_ get a similarly dlc-locked customisation option, but maybe something smaller than a whole species... shaped pupils or ombre tentacles like the idols have? some unique tentacle styles?)
Good ideas you're presenting. I'd love it if the developers expanded the customization options for the inklings and octolings. The suggestions you made are what I'm asking for
I rly want ombré hair ahhhh
@@_pursuit_3342 Same, I would be so hype if that was a dlc reward =D
@@PrincessOfTheEnd ya like imagine how diverse and multiplayer lobbies would be
@@_pursuit_3342 and it'd make it easier to colour coordinate your outfits!
Cuttlelings I still have high hopes for. The only ones we have are idols called “Cuttlefish Idol” that never made a physical appearance outside some album art. I like the idea of Salmonlings, I’m not sure how they would fit in the lore, like why aren’t they present the whole time? I would LOVE to see Sharklings and having some resentment towards Shiver’s shark-taming family (Made an OC based on that idea)
When I saw “Harelings,” I immediately thought of the Sea bunnies. I actually made an OC based on the Yellow Sea bunny.
I've heard of Sharklings before. Now that's an idea I really wanna see happen!
i know this wont really come true as a species but i didn't know i needed harelings until now
i love one of the main features in the hair being little antennas, theyre just so dang adorable 😭
I love the artwork of them a lot and would love it if the developers acknowledged it.
@@DecadoPrime very much agreed
Personally for me I’m hoping for mantalings/raylings considering that in splatoon 2 we got an octoling idol with marina and then playable octos in the dlc, it would be thematic to get a manta player race to match big man in 3’s dlc.
I was thinking the exact thing when coming up with ideas. But scrapped it due to lack of time. Cool to see some else having a similar idea
Ok, so for the salmonlings, I’ve cooked up an impromptu story that they could have-
So, since it’s known that a Salmonoid’s life experience impacts how they grow (aka if they become a boss or not), what if some salmonoids just decide that the whole “Being eaten is our true purpose and falling in battle is the most honerable way to go” thing going on with the current Salmonoid community just doesn’t sit right with them and they leave and make a society of their own similar to what the inklings or octolings made? They could adapt to a more human like form to better build a living environment and they lose access to swim in water but gain the access to swim in ink?
If I come up with anything else maybe I’ll edit.
Literally perfect
I was thinking something alike. That'd make more sense if these apart "salmon society" can participate in salmon run since they're not the same tribe or community as the salmon we battle in salmon run. I expect this to be the 4TH wave dlc
@@goomalia23 I hope we get more DLC
Cuttlings, they would probably be like the younger siblings of the squid and octopus. I mean c'mon they're SO COOL. They hypnotize they're prey with basically a light show, they can change their color drastically. And can change the way their tentacles(?) And body are shaped. If we got them in the actual game, their hair might be shaped like thick seaweed, and personality wise, they could be more aggressive then inklings or octolings. But apart of their culture could be how they're more likely to be idols considering their "light show" hypnotized ability, they could have the potential to start out as villains who hypnotized their race using their ability, and now they're trying to take over the inklings and octolings, and actually invade the city. And theres a big event where you get to play WITH ACTUAL PLAYERS together in a Giant turf war match in splatsville. Idk I got carried away
I wish this does happen
I would love to see further expansion and diversity among cephalopods in Splatoon. We know that Octopi and Squids descended into humanoid forms, so of course logically Nautiluses and Cuttlefish would do the same. With the spooky sci-fi lore and this focus on bringing back the past with the villains of Octo Expansion and Splatoon 3, it would also be cool to see races based on extinct cephalopods like Ammonites or Belemnites
Another way to increase diversity that I’ve wanted since Octo Expansion was some sort of Subrace feature, where you could play as Inklings or Octolings based on specific types of squid or octopus. Picture a Mimic, Blue-Ring, Giant, or Argonaut Octoling. Or a Firefly, Flying, Colossal, or Scaled Inkling. Even as just cosmetic options these would be so cool.
Love these ideas so much
I have a really REALLY hot take. We already have cuttlefish as inklings.
Inklings are cuttlefish.
Not a bad take at all. I do see some resemblance between the two
My idea is maybe we might be able to get a second option in the species, i present “ Eelings “ they are look-a-likes like frye but with wavy ears eyes like octoling and maybe very sharp teeth and fingers like octolings but slightly sharper, I was thinking we might get an option like this because I saw some swimming things in the side order trailer. It looked like eels so I decided to make a concept of an eeling, though it’s not finished, we might get eelings or sharklings and more.
Eelings and Sharklings are cool ideas
Oh and one thing, we might get to see the species in probably a lab because the side order theme is everything in order so I was thinking maybe labs will be seen once the Side order comes out. Anyways I’m so excited for the side order cause we might get to see the idols and probably bosses!
It’s so cool to think about a new species for the series, I think the best bet for a new species is definitely either Cuttlings or a Hybrid of Inklings and Octolings. In the Side Order trailer there is a moment in the trailer we see an Octoling girl with Inkling ears and no suction cups on the hair, we also see in the trailer lots of hints to cloning, so potentially we could get half inkling and half octoling clones introduced in Side Order.
Now that's hype
I think salmonlings won't happen, due to their evolution, they don't have what they need to evolve like Inklings and Octolings
True. It does seem unlikely compared to the other options presented
Iirc devs also said they thought Octolings and inklings to be similar enough to get along but salmonids are very different so it wouldn’t make sense
@@zeldalink1855 Makes sense now
The only one I could see happening is cuttlelings the others seem a little too different
Understandable. Even if we get one species, I'll be happy
The vampirplings are good, but there was a version by Owliminati that was just awesome. That said, Nintendo should make sub-species of the Inklings and Octolings. They could even add particular traits and abilities to them. For example, you, could have blue-ringed octolings that do poison damage, a mimic octoling that can camouflage themselves, or flying inklings that can jump higher and use a glide. Would defiantly change the game forever.
Yes this is what I'm looking for
That could only work in singleplayer
These were great ideas! I would love to see salmonlings, it would make so much sense to include them in side order! Great video as always
Thank you so much. Let's hope the developers are aware of these
I need the harelings, they look absolutely amazing, I’ve seen the hairstyles (harestyles) and all, it’s amazing
Those hairstyles are great and love the pun you included
@@DecadoPrime Thanks, I think that’d be a good pun for a possible actual game with the Harelings
@@SeaToon True
There is actually a design for salmonlings on a fan comic called "For Sammy's Sake" and with it they brought some interesting ideas for game modes and abilities associated with the salmonlings.
I'll definitely check it out
So one thing I noticed about those unnamed cuttlefish idols was their hair, eyes, and ears!
They are exactly the same as Callie and Maries. The ears are that odd straight on the top curved on the bottom type and the eyes also had that star like shape and ofc the hair is similar. So we might actually have cuttlefish in game or I'm reading into that too much.
Either way hoping if any specis is added it either cuttlelings or harelings!
(Edit: Also wasn't frye considered a vampire squid??)
I believe she was confirmed to be one, but I'm not entirely sure
I have an OC who's a vampling, it would be so cool to accurately make her in game instead of just using the inkling option!
That would be awesome!
Harelings would be so cool because 1. Sea slugs are awesome and 2. The original concept for Splatoon used rabbits instead of squids, so they could be a kind of middle ground between bunny and cephalopod
When you put it that way, it sounds even better
I recall seeing fanart of what a “mantaling” may look like and fell in love. I am not sure whether Big Man makes these guys more or less of a possibility, but it is fun to consider.
I love the mantalings concept and have seen fan art of it. A definite inclusion if given the opportunity
It would be great to expand the community.
Facts. The more the merrier
Don't forget Nautilus are cephalopods too!
Oof you're right! I feel like a dum dum for missing that
As someone who researched cephalopods specifically for an original species, nautilis cannot produce ink.
I like these ideas. I think it would be nice for a new species
Especially after getting Octolings for Octo Expansion. It just makes sense to continue adding more playable species for added variety
Great video as always! Also congrats on 2k!!
Thanks man that means a lot to me. I really appreciate it and I wish you the best of luck as well!
I really love all of these ideas, but for me, Cuttlings and Vamplings make the most sense because Cuttlefish are part of the cephalopods, so with them it would be complete, meanwhile, Vampire Squids are a type of squid that looks like a mix of octopuses and squids, so it would make sense for them to be a sort of mix of Inklings and Octolings, Salmonlings could make sense because Salmonoids can produce a sort of ink in Splatoon, so they could exist, but Harelings don't look like they could fit, but they are cute and I woul like them to exist
Cuttlings do seem highly likely, but it's up to the developers if we're ever gonna get a new playable species
I. Need. Sluglings. When they get out of water, they mature and become humanoids, they can breathe in water and survive under there, but have to superjump out per law.
Sluglings are awesome
The Vamplimgs sounds so Internetsing and cool
Very true
Hareling is number 1 on my want list when I saw the project before splatoon 3 was released I dreamed of it being a reality
The fan made concepts for Project Splatoon 3 are amazing and it would've been awesome if some of the ideas were implemented into Splatoon 3
@@DecadoPrime I know I remember when the project released it had amazing special ideas like a splash wall that was stronger and larger and a bomb that when hit with ink after being placed would explode
@@ItzFuntimePuppy Sounds awesome
If you really wanted to go back in time to play as a common ancestor, you could make characters based on Orthoceras, shelled cephalopods that lived in the Ordovician era.
Yes they went extinct, but perhaps you could justify their modern existence in the lore as some freak accident like Jurassic park the humans made in a lab
That's the best way they should go for an idea like this. But I love the prehistoric aspect
I feel that cuttlings would be the most likely tbh, but god do I love the idea of harelings. Like those feel extremely full circle in contrast to the other options listed considering early splatoon concepts included the world being full of rabbits, so having a middle ground between that concept with the sea people theme it has now would be excellent.
Both ideas are amazing and have potential to be something special in the series
I think im most interested in harelings! They make a lot of sense in design and lore unlike vamplings which might stick out too much in gamemodes, cuttlings would be cool too but i feel like theyve been around for a while without being playable so not sure if thatll happen. Though im holding out for salmonlings or even a salmon centric story!!
Im okay with not getting another playable species IF we get tons new customization!
The amount of extra customization options we could get for inklings and octolings could be enormous and I'd be on board for it
To be honest... with the increasing number of signs pointing towards that Humans might have somehow survived, I'd like to see them somehow as a playable species.
I know that sounds odd, but I'd like to explore the reason why things got so out of control and how they managed to survive by the skin of their teeth and become the only major mammal species left. I'd love to see how Humans and Inklings would interact given they share a LOT of things in them. It'd also be neat if they allowed Humans to swim in water since they have the ability to swim where everyone else doesn't.
I think they could even be adapted into multiplayer with some sort of super high tech ball form. Starbound has this feature as a tech and maybe it could be a way to allow Humans to have their own form to shift into despite having bones.
Just an idea.
I'm loving this idea and how in depth all the details are. Getting a playable human would change the game and introduce new opportunities
Watching this video I thought it would be so cool if the new DLC included planarians as a playable race but then I realize they don’t produce inc.
Sounds interesting. To be honest the whole not producing ink approach can be substituted with them using ink cartridges instead. That's an idea I had as a work around
I especially like the harelings because before nintendo decided on squids, the splatoon characters were going to be rabbits
Everything would come full circle at that point. Epic
Well that is if they do it, im still not sure if we will get a new species, considering that was the first thing shown for octo expansion, the new species idea. Yet Side Order shows what persumably is Agent 8 again (all tho i have a obsession for Small Fry and would want salmonlings)
It's always possible if we get more DLC beyond Side Order. But for now it just remains as a wishlist
One Kinda missed oppurtunity that I realized was having actual Mammalians in Return of the Mammalians. Like having the Scrapped Rabbits as the Stand in for the Octolings, and other small rats as the Octarian grunts.
Granted the Actual story and characters did make sense in lore, And the actual Boss battles we got were a good twist on the established formula
Facts. That would've made the title have more meaning and be impactful
I’m not sure how salmonlings are generally considered the least likely to get added, when imo they feel like they would be number 1 on the list.
The other species ideas are so good, don’t get me wrong, but they feel out of left field to me. None of these species have been hinted at, other than possible cuttlefish plushies in hagglefish
Meanwhile salmonids are one of the core 3 species, salmon run has gotten a lot of attention in splat3 so far, the existence of little buddy, it makes the most sense thematically to add salmonlings.
Plus, I can’t be 100% sure on this, but one of the banners you can buy at Grizzco possibly depicts a small fry with legs, but take that with a grain of salt.
If that banner exists, I gotta see it as it sounds interesting
bruh the harelings are the most well made ones, considering the *pre-made lore*
I agree
There's a piece of art on the Internet that sees four concepts for splatoon species. Those being a shark, coral, salmonid and anemone.
Awesome. Gotta find it
I really like the Harelings.
Me too. The art associated with them is amazing
I've always liked the idea of alternate playable species based on other squid and octos with different ink properties. One I've thought of are the Blue Ringed Octolings, which would use an ink that would slowly whittle down ink and health if you are covered in it, similar to Toxic Mist.
That's an awesome idea. It helps branch out the species and gives us unique abilities for added variety
Update, we have seen a Blue Ringed Octoling in the new Splatband. They're just an Octoling, so I assumes this acts like her race rather than species.
@@SoggycereaI I've seen the character and love the design
Music from Mega Man ZX Advent, and The Lab music... Nice!
Thanks
yeah no we just got an insanely long title piece in "Intensifying-Harmony", a metal bowl with 2 LEDs on it, a very hard gamemode, and white versions of every weapon
Exactly
A bit late to the party, but I would love to see Ammonites added as a playable species. Ammolings would be like a failed experiment that tried to revive extinct animal, but instead created a new people that lived hidden in labs and abandonned places. You could even have a villain trying to dispose of them, and you (the protag) must stop them.
One word: YES! I love this
here's another idea: axolings (axolotls) now i know that they don't shoot out ink irl (i think) but you could say that with all the years of evolution, they developed the ability to use ink
I'm open to this idea happening
I am somehow hoping for fuzzy octolings to become their own playable species
Yes! I want that to happen
I apologize if this is uncalled for, but I only mean to help: Salmon is pronounced with a silent L :) Great video! I personally hope for cuttlefish, what with the cuttlefish graffiti in Mimcemeat Metalworks.
Thank you for the pronunciation! I honestly don't know if I'm messing up how certain words are pronounced so it really helps with the clarity you provided. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Even if there’s no new species in wave 2, the logo for the dlc’s notably have *four* stickers and not 2, making it likely there will be 2 more waves
I'm hoping we get more DLC because it would be a big missed opportunity
maybe I’m just biased considering what real world culture they’re based on, but I love the idea of salmonlings and I’d absolutely love to play as one. I’d also just like to see an expansion focused on the salmonids in general. they could even preemptively introduce the concept of salmonlings by making them king salmonids in Salmon Run. but two potential problems with adding salmonlings as a playable species would be the ethics of playing as them in Salmon Run and the fact that salmonids can survive in water unlike inklings and octolings. I think they could probably make some sort of explanation for all that if they really wanted to though.
I want them to happen as well because of the potential for introducing something interesting to the series
I think we’re good with what we got. Another species is just them running out of ideas, plus it hasn’t even been mentioned before. “Salmonlings” don’t even make sense. What we would all love is new hairstyles, legwear, and eye color.
New customization options is the best way to go for more variety
I like the idea of cuttlelings, but they honestly seem a bit too similar to the inklings, they don't exactly have the same unique appeal octolings had from the start
True. I had similar thoughts about that as well. Although, in all honesty the Sharkling idea you came up with is my favorite species idea
Im not sure how I feel about salmonlings, but I would like to see a salmonid npc.
Salmonids are warmongers, but not actually stupid, so maybe there could be a defector goldie working as a shop owner or smuggler.
That's a fitting position for them. Smart choice
these are good ideas! however:
- cuttlefish are very similar to squid (considered squids in japan!) but, to be honest there might be inklings in splatoon lore that resemble cuttlefish
- salmonids are actually another sentient species in splatoon, seperate to octolings and inklings... so it would most likely have to be an inkling-salmonid hybrid... which, uh... you know.
- and some of the other species shown here, in real life, don't produce ink, but in that case, they would have to use advanced technology to allow these 'species' to play in turf wars, and other ink-based sports! so i guess some of these can happen!
Glad you liked the ideas and gave your thoughts on the logistics of them. Whether we get any of these or not, I'm just hoping we get a new playable species in the future
I personal would love to see the Blue sea dragon, an extremity tiny (about the tip of your pinky) cute and HIGHLY venous sea slug, sporting a Bright blue back/belly (it's debated if it "swims" belly up or down.) which would translate easily into the link colored.... backs.... faces? of the squid forms we currently have.
Neat idea
Actually, as someone pointed out, Frye is a vampire squid herself!, just a fun fact
Neat!
Maybe we play recovering sanitised, IF the story even revolves around that.
That would be a neat option for more variety
These are some cool ideas! I hope they do Vamplings.
Yeah me too
ima point this out
how would a kraken verison of sea hare and salmon gonna look like?
Like actually i must know XD
"they just bigger verison of their swim form" i know but would their attack look different or they just flip like the normal krakens? is the hare and sallmon gonna be the same side as the kraken? or would they shape differently with their own shape of the hitboxs? also on the talk about salmon, how these guys even leave ink around? or is it like they just came out of the water and whatever left on them drips on the floor
i would love see those as playable race still would be 100% on team hare lol
I would like to know as well if it ever does happen
@@DecadoPrime
Since flow is a sea hare that would technically means, she been arm the whole time, if she technically have a 52 on hand
That also mean sea hares would have their own little buddies XD
@@JustMacaroonKookee Yeah it would mean that
A new species doesn't seem too likely, but I would love to see some new customization options in general. If we do by chance get a new species it'd probs be cuttlefish, salmonlings would be cool but they wouldn't fit with the lore itself.
New customization options is what this game needs more of, especially for the Octolings
I don’t think salmondlings will ever be cannon, but I do think little buddy will become a future merchant dubbed “Chummigo”.
I imagine he’ll be the hight of a chum but will be noticeably longer!
I think Chummigo would trade food tickets for random items, gear or emotes that you don’t already have. Once you have all attainable items he’ll give you mini salmonid eggs and probably ask you to try them and tell him if they taste good
Sounds awesome
@@DecadoPrime Yeah! I think it would be really cool to see a salmonid merchant because we already have the Goldfish staff for recons and salmonids are just shorter Goldenoids
@@Cosmic-Clod I'd love to see them appear in a game one day
WE NEED JELLYFISH SPECIES PLAYABLE
Facts. Those jellyfish are everywhere so why not have one of them be playable
I feel that you missed out by not pointing out that some folks believe Frye is a Vampire squid, if the theory was correct then it'd lead to a good support for the vamplings concept
Oof I forgot that. Sorry
salmonlings could probably be born from golden eggs and that's why they're so valuable
That's a pretty unique reason. I like it
I think is would be cool to have all 4 cephalopods playable, those being Squids, Octopus, Cuttlefish, and Nautilus
Indeed
If I could dream big I’d say sharklings, I want a shark like species even if shark don’t produce ink it would still be cool
You're not the only one who wants Sharklings. I want them too
Call me crazy but salmonlings would rock, i mean what makes splatoon special is the way they do everything in a unique way. If we don't get them on splatoon 3 4th wave dlc we'll get them on splatoon 4
More species will help add variety and make things more fun
I am on the “ 2 species is enough” side
Very understandable. I'd like more customization options for these two
I have a oc who is a "starling" (a sea star) i wanted to see starlings or something similar on splatoon when i saw the game for the first time (bad English I'm using translator)
First time hearing about this idea, but I like it. Fits in with Splatoon very well
What about sharklings
Mantalings could also bcs big man uses a substence like ink in his battle and octavio is a octoling in its "swim form" mybe big man is a similar case for mantas
That would be a solid reason for bringing them in
Sharklings it’s a cool idea
Heck yeah it is
Bro you are not paying attention, we're playing as agent 8. Which is a shame, but at the same time, maybe we can see agent 4 again.
I know. These are just ideas I had in case we get more DLC in the future. Regardless, Agent 4 should return
Very late to this video but i think inktolings (inkling + octoling) might be possible. idk it seems very splatoon like
Alright hear me out....
Harmony is a jellyling
Funny you mention that because at one point I considered including jellyfish as a playable species with how their everywhere in Splatoon
I'd rather have something like the Harelings over Cuttlefish. While adding Cuttlefish would complete the cephalopod trio, I honestly think adding yet another cephalopod would be kinda boring. A playable gastropod species would shake things up a bit and open up many more potential options for future playable species since we wouldn't be limited to just cephalopods anymore.
Facts
I will beg, pleed, sell my soul, go to court, and give all my life savings for the harelings
Yeah
Salmonlings could be like a boss or extra wave boss for salmon run that would be Cool
That's a good compromise and makes Salmon Run more interesting
the cuttlefish characters seems like a cute idea, but to me it feels a little weird if Splatoon 3 suddenly introduced a completely new playable species that we've never even seen in-game before. at least with the octolings we already had 3D models of the enemy octarians and Marina, here we only have one obscure illustration.
I really like the designs for the harelings, but that sadly seems even less likely.
I would still like it if one of these did happen in future DLC.
@@DecadoPrime oh sure, it'd always be fun. It just doesn't seem all that likely to me.
@@birdflox1337 Yeah
I’ve done some research about side order and I found out what side order means in splatoon, side order is “team order won the final splatfest” I was so shocked to see this but this is what will happen if team chaos didn’t win.. someone asked the developers (of splatoon) “why is it about Agent 8?” The developers (of splatoon) said “we are still finding the details we haven’t found the details yet but we will soon..” (I think they said that I can’t remember sorry 😅😅)
Woah this is wild information. Thank you for sharing this
I don't think we'll get species this dlc. Considering it's based off Team Order for Finalfest, we're likely getting a different universe where Order won anyway. So if it's a different universe we likely won't get a species. I hate that though, i really wanted cuttlelings
It sucks, but I'm still holding out hope for future DLC
@DecadoPrime Either way, there is a chance we'd at least get cuttlelings. But we don't even have gameplay yet, so we won't know for a while.
@@falyn715 True. Cuttlelings is still a strong possibility with the amount of hints scattered throughout the game
@DecadoPrime When I first watched the trailer, I was really hoping the character perspective would be a cuttleling
@@falyn715 Facts. It would've helped differentiate itself from Octo Expansion and made the DLC more impactful
Well Squids and Octopus are also known as Gastropods like the Sea hares and also Frey from Deep cut is a Vampire squid. :0

I was actually going to make a dlc for my splatoon au splatoon 4 and I was actually thinking about salmonlings and that’s a good idea oh and there is another species called eellings I got the idea from frye’s eels the dlc for salmonlings is going to be called: flowing poison
Awesome
Cuttlelings and Harelings seem possible, but based off the lore idk if vamplings or salmonlings would be possible…
It's always a possibility
I wait for jellyfing (idk how to name it) but the jellyfishes are in splatoon too and they do nothing what can be in splatoon usefull (ofc they are shoppers) and I bought jellyfishes can do something in splatoon story
It's time for them to be playable with how often they appear
Either cuttlelings or hairlings for me, too lazy too type my evidence here so..
I hope we do get them
Guys we need a starfish based speicies in this
Never thought of that, but now I want it to happen
I would love to see salmonlings
Me too
Wait, if you get to play with Salmonlings would the Salmonids not target you?
Honestly I'm not sure
Isn’t frye a vampire squid? Her long ears and two sharp teeth that look like vampire fangs?
She might be, but I'm not sure
I WANT BELEMNITES AND AMMONITES TO BE PLAYABLE, RAAAHHHHHH
Totally agree with you
@@DecadoPrime I want them to have parts of them crystallized because opals will sometimes fill up their fossils
@@SalmonidSplat That's sounds awesome. I want to see that be implemented in the game
I would like there to be a manta ray playable character. Ik they don’t produce ink but big man somewhat did it. And also because, octoling vs inkling vs mant(lings?) 😭
I'm all for that. I love manta rays and want to play as one
I love all thses species but.... What about sharklings?
I know what you're talking about and I recommend checking out vAqeii's video about it as he did a good job detailing it. Very good idea he proposed
I need cuttings so bad 🥺🦑🦑🦑
Big facts
@@DecadoPrime ye 🦑
Suprised you didn't mention the manta ray idea
Orginally I was good too. But scrapped it due to lack of time
I doubt a new species is gonna happen the two dlcs are
Inkolis for OG fans ( along side a bunch of old stuff from the first two games ) and the second one which seems to be marinas (I think) backstory
You're right. But maybe in future DLC it will happen
cuttlefish make the most sense as a playable species since they are also cephalopods that produce ink. harelings seems fun but idk how they'd justify it, and salmonlings make no sense as salmonids cannot transform and they dont make ink
All valid points. Salmonlings are very unlikely. But Cuttlefish may happen with all the evidence that has been found by various people
@@DecadoPrime oh i just wanna add, the green sign on the train station wasnt a cuttlefish, but a squid with its arms out, instead of down, on the red sign. theyre stop and go signs
@@supercharged5-39 Neat. Thanks for the clarity!
