Wow how cool is it to see commentary about one of my favorite of my dad’s songs on my recommended page! Loved your insights especially about hanging with them after their concert. Cherry Pie was iconic but he always loathed the box it put him in, this song definitely demonstrates his incredible storytelling abilities and amazing vocals. Thanks for including this in your series, he would be proud to see this 😊
I am not going to lie, I read your comment and cried. I think if you read through the comments, it's crystal clear that your father was loved. Of all the bands that I have met, interviewed or just hung out with, only a few stand our for being extremely gracious and your dad was one of them. Jani is one of my go to guys when I am asked, who was the coolest band you ever met. He is truly missed by all of us that had the privilege to hear him perform at any level. You made my day. Thank your kind words Maddi.
Cherry Pie was Warrant's "American Pie." So many bands during the mid to late eighties got lumped into the glam-hair metal genre, because of the mass overload of bands trying to get into the scene. Never considered Warrant as one of them. Great music like this never dies, it just has to be passed on down.
@@flickeringboxofficial Also have always loved JL he was so much better than they let him be... also we shared a birthday Feb. 1st.... hard to forget cause its now a common one..
Warrant punched way above the belt in regards to hair metal bands in general. Their sound was very tight, they were in sync as a band, and they were incredibly gifted in terms of story telling via song. Hair metal is not a genre. It's a derogatory term that some no name music critic made up in the 90s, no one ever used the term hair metal back in the heyday to describe any band. Glam Metal perhaps, if you wish to categorize them.
Hair bands were great. It's only derogatory if that's your intention when you use it. I personally grew up in that era and consider it the greatest era ever. The only era as good musically would be Motowns heyday
@@beyondbeleef1013 what I meant was and I'm sure you probably remember as well, in the 80s no one referred to Heavy Metal bands as "hair bands". The beginning intro guitar was actually Jani Lane's brother who was warming up to play on the song, but the producer Beau Hill was recording an he loved it and kept it and that's what you're hearing.
I had the privilege of seeing him in big and small settings and he delivered every time. One of my favorite concerts was Jani at the HOB. Him sitting, not standing on stage with a guitar and singing I saw red for the entire first part of the song. Absolutely, emotionally spectacular.
Love Queensrÿche. Take Hold the Flame is on the list for sure. If you go their Instagram account and look for their post of a birthday wish for Eddie Jackson the bassist, you will see my photo from the stage. They use my image every year for him. Great group of guys and have had a chance to photograph quite a few of their shows. Thank you James!
Awesome shout out to what I think is a legendary band and singer. This was one of my favorite songs of the 80's, and they had plenty of other bangers as well. And the video is just as amazing as the song, worth watching many, many times. RIP Jani Lane
Jani Lane God rest his soul was an amazing vocalist. Warrant as a whole was an incredible band. From power ballots to in your face rock these guys had all the bases covered.
I loved Warrant growing up. They were probably my favorite of the "hair metal" bands, though I always considered them above that. Fun fact, that acoustic intro was played by Jani Lane's brother on the album.
I was wondering if y'all could possibly do some more Warrant songs to react to, such as Down Boys, Sometimes She Cries, Heaven, I Saw Red, Blind Faith, Undertow, Followed Stronger Now, to name just a few...and Thank You..
You are me dude, I'm 52, lives the 80s like a Champ! Rocked it at Warrant concerts back in the day, man, we partied as teens back then, haha so cool seeing you intro to your daughter, did the same to my , now adult kids, rock on!
Jani Lane was an amazing singer and song writer. I agree, Warrant was amazing live. I saw them so many times in concert back in the day. Originally this album was called Uncle Tom's Cabin but the record company wanted a more poppy song, so Jani wrote Cherry Pie in one evening and the rest is history. I met the entire band in the 1990's when I worked at a rock radio station. RIP Jani Lane. Gone way too soon.
I got to meet all the guys in Warrant, they were all great really nice guys, and in my opinion musical genius. I sat on the tour bus having smokes and just chatting about everything RIP Jani I miss you
Im digging your videos. Popped up on my feed. I grew up with all these bands....its awesome to see her reaction to the stuff i still listen to. Keep them coming. Brings back alot of great memories.
I just found your channel. I love this video reaction. Something was said that got me thinking. You referenced Cherry Pie as being Warrant’s kind of “sell out” song. You simply couldn’t be more correct. That got me thinking. Perhaps we can get either back to back videos of Extreme showcasing More Than Words as the “sell out” and Get The Funk Out as what their real sound was.
I saw them live many times in Hollywood. And had the chance to rock out with Jani. Went to his memorial at the whisky a go go in Hollywood; the place was filled with friends, fans and family. Anyway Jani is an amazing singer!!
The best comment ever heard about calling 80s rock hair metal, was from David Coverdale who said "I seriously doubt the millions of people that bought my records bought them so they could hear my hair swishing in the background"
Circa 1989; fifteen year old me was diagnosed with cancer. Had a 30% chance of surviving. I had a “boom box” 😂😂😂 in my hospital room and I rocked out to Warrant DRFSR, all day. I had the Young Adult Unit at Dayton Children’s rocking!!! That album and those songs got me through such a difficult time.
I was not into the hair metal bands when I was a teenager in the 80's, more into thrash but I remember when I saw this video for the first time and thought, what an awesome song with great lyrics. Still a great song in 2023.
One of my friends who was really into Merciful Fate when we were younger and then bands like Sepultura, he hated "fashion metal" as he called it but he really loved this song and video. Power of music Mike.
Jani lane and warrant was always my favorite.jami was one of best songwriters ever and brst. Frontman in the bussines. Vocally was master of the mic.. My fave always
Watching Steph brings me back to when I saw it for the first time when it was originally released. Then seeing Burch's expressions as he relives it with her, is just magically. I love when Birch tells stories of the past as many of them mirror my experiences too. I'd like to suggest I Saw Red (if you haven't already done that one - I'm new to your channel and going through your videos now). When I Saw Red first came out, I had my first and only real-life episode of seeing red for real myself...which, like the song, was brought on from something my girlfriend had done. The song really clicked with me.
Definitely their best tune. Many 'hair' bands tried this bluesy-metal style in the late 80s; Warrant was one of the superior ones. The title of the song is the same as a piece of classic American literature, which is an 1852 novel by abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe about the experiences of an African-American slave (Tom): it was the best-selling novel of the 19th century (and 2nd-best selling book of that century, only outdone by the Bible).
Jani and the boys had some power ballads for sure. Not sure if I Saw Red would be considered a power ballad but still one of my favorite memories of Jani doing it live at the HOB uplugged. Thank you Bradford.
Tesla - Modern Day Cowboy Cinderella - Shake Me Great White - Mista Bone.....My friend and I seen Jani Lane and Bobby Brown at Cedar Point back in the early 90's....
Awesome song! And like how you’re doing the father/daughter reaction… awesome and wiat I would have thought of that. And yeah! I can’t stand cherry pie myself. I met Jani also, he was a hell of a cool guy!
You guys are gonna be one of my faves. Very insightful commentary. I was 11 when Warrant’s first album came out. Absolutely wore that sucker OUT. This one was really good too, especially this track and Mr. Rainmaker. Dog Eat Dog was highly underrated. Everything after that was a bit lackluster. Ultraphobic had its moments. Looking forward to more stuff from you guys. 🍺
This was awesome! The looks on her face are everything. I remember them catching so much crap for Cherry Pie, and Jani hated it... but I kinda dig that tune... and the video is kinda hilarious. If she's into the country/rock crossover type stuff, maybe she'd like Copperhead Road by Steve Earle? Love your channel, guys. I'm excited. This is gonna be a fun ride. P.s. yeah... I wouldn't tell either. Otherwise, I'd be sleepin' with the gators with cement shoes on. Lol

I got to meet all the guys in Warrant, they were all great really nice guys, and in my opinion musical genius. I sat on the tour bus having smokes and just chatting about everything RIP Jani I miss you
EXCELLENT SONG
Good reaction, Warrant rocked 😁
Im digging your videos. Popped up on my feed. I grew up with all these bands....its awesome to see her reaction to the stuff i still listen to. Keep them coming. Brings back alot of great memories.
RIP Jani
I just found your channel. I love this video reaction. Something was said that got me thinking. You referenced Cherry Pie as being Warrant’s kind of “sell out” song. You simply couldn’t be more correct. That got me thinking. Perhaps we can get either back to back videos of Extreme showcasing More Than Words as the “sell out” and Get The Funk Out as what their real sound was.
Just found your channel. Great choice of songs, great reactions!
Saw these guys back in June of 1989 at Alpine Valley, Wisc. along with Ratt, Great White and Kix, great show!!
A very great song
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This song!!!
I saw them live many times in Hollywood. And had the chance to rock out with Jani. Went to his memorial at the whisky a go go in Hollywood; the place was filled with friends, fans and family. Anyway Jani is an amazing singer!!
This song is from an Amazing album. 'Blind Faith' from the same album was my wife and mine's wedding song!
Greetings from chile southamerica 👍🏻
And greetings to you Nash! Hope you are liking the videos
Such a great song
The best comment ever heard about calling 80s rock hair metal, was from David Coverdale who said "I seriously doubt the millions of people that bought my records bought them so they could hear my hair swishing in the background"
You guys should check out "Diary of a Madman". And just listen how great Randy Rhodes playing that guitar!! You won't be disappointed!
Oh she definitely needs to see and hear Def Leppard, Poison, Cinderella, White Snake and Slaughter!
Oh yea, on the list!
@@flickeringboxofficial Excellent. I look forward to it.
Their best song by far! Always crank it way up when it on!
Heaven gives it a run for it's money. Honestly I can't choose between the 2. Depends on my mood really
Uma das melhores bandas que já existiu nesse planeta.. Warrant com jani lane..
I Love warrant.
Saudações de Curitiba-pr Brasil.🇧🇷🤘
Uma daquelas bandas subestimadas.
I would love to see more of this, the great hair band metal!!! Keep that coming!!
Loved your video! 1st time seeing you guys. Will try to check out more.
I remember his club with the Harley in there and the atmosphere. It was a great time to be alive.
Fantastic song. Even just the intro guitar part on this (by Jani's brother Eric, I believe) is worth the price of admission.
My all time favorite from this band. Thanks for sharing 👍
One of my favorite bands, jani always was my favorite singer
One of the best Warrant tracks...
I was able to see them play that live before it was released. Absolutely loved the song.
My favorite song from Warrant! I got goosebumps listening to and watching your video.😊
Kings of the power ballad.
I saw Warrant when I was in South Korea back in 98. It was amazing. I posted the video of it on my other channel.
A video of the show? well do me a favor and post a link here....would love to see it Jason!
I loved her reaction when the guitars kicked in.
Awesome song! And like how you’re doing the father/daughter reaction… awesome and wiat I would have thought of that. And yeah! I can’t stand cherry pie myself. I met Jani also, he was a hell of a cool guy!
Now here’s a reaction channel I can watch! A real music guy that knows what he’s talking about. I’m going to like this channel.
Lol
One of my favorite songs ! Great choice :-)
