Steph’s first time hearing Steelheart, She’s Gone. One of the best voices from the 80s, Miljenko Matijevic did not fail to impress. We react to the Unplugged version of the song because it’s a great display of the raw talent and vocal ability. We were spoiled in the 80s with such great singers. If you enjoy our video please like the video and subscribe to our channel. If you have any suggestions for artists you would like to see us react to, please post it in the comments section.

Steelheart doesn’t get the recognition they deserve but man are they phenomenal!!
They came out about the same of another little band named Nirvana unfortunately.
💯 all of them knew how to play!
@@jacebronson2305 Yep. Unfortunately they came out near the end of the hair band era. A few years earlier and they would have been remembered much better.
This is legitimately the greatest metal ballad of all time
Today's auto-tune era of singers just don't have what these 70s and 80s singers had and some still do.
Auto-tune....uggg! That said, I think the singers are out there, there is just no venue for them to grow and to develop.
People are promoted for the wrong reasons in today's music industry.
Espousing the "correct" social or political views will often be enough to earn you the best promotion, record deals, venues and contracts. Talent is many times the least of their concerns. Although frauds are certainly not exclusive to the current generation. Milli Vanilli being a prime example from the 80s.
@@flickeringboxofficial might check out Tommy Johansson , guitarist in Sabaton and singer and guitarst in Majestica .. he’s done some good covers of steelhart .. he love the 80th music .. also .. the light (20th anniversary) on his channel a re-recording of his own early original .. love that one .. covers are studio but such a good tribute
@Flickering Box
Do a reaction to their song "I'll Never Let You Go."
I’ve seen Steelheart close to a dozen times, and a Milo’s voice was always spot on! Even at a show a few years ago, I was even blessed with the opportunity to play the same stage before they went on. One of the Best Rock voices out there, still! 80’s Rock! 🤘🏽
She would love I'll never let you go by Steelheart. His high range in that song is totally insane.
Agreed
I think he goes even higher in I'll never let you go.
Sheila Likes Tequila was my favorite. the vocal/guitar duel at the end was a blast (especially live)
Yessssss
@@RoadWarrior77 himself admitted that he sings higher in She's gone then I'll never let you go
Back then we had actual artists! I miss the eighties!
Miljenko Matijević Mili born in Zagreb Croatia ,wer proud to have him ❤
Matijevic also sang Mark Wahlberg's vocals in rockstar.
When I saw the movie, I was like, holy shit, I know that music!
I recognized his voice during the chorus of stand up and shout. That was a cool movie.
He, and Jeff Scott Soto…👍
@@forourtroopssake7373Jeff never did the singing voice for him
@@Bryan-wu1ss Jeff Scott Soto was the voice behind “Bobby Beers”. I merely said he sang in the movie. I know he wasn’t Marks character.
Mili is special. I put him head and shoulders over 99% of 80s metal vocalists. Steelheart was criminally underrated. They still tour and his voice is still great.
He had an accident on stage early in his career and it halted his career for a while. He still does music today and yes he is still fabulous.
I saw that video Tammy and it's hard to watch. He is doing well now and you are right, still fabulous!
@@flickeringboxofficial Here’s the video to show Her. ruclips.net/video/F-nyeiKk35M/видео.html
I think without that accident they would have been the superstars they deserved. Still though they are very under rated.
I totally agree 100%. The accident was bad & so was the 'timing' as The Band was on their way up, they'd have been recognisable Superstars especially with Miljenko singing 🧑🎤🎶
Going to see steelheart this October and yes he still sounds like this.
Miljenko Matijevic has the strongest vocal mixed register than any other singer ever. His control is mind blowing.
Thank you for doing this song. It is my favorite.
Love the channel.
More steelheart please, Miljenko Matijevic is one of the best singer in the history
There are more of SH for sure. Thank you AJ
Sing in the Soundtrack of Rockstar
Feel free to watch him in my interview: ruclips.net/video/oW1B6F28nTY/видео.html
This guy was an amazing vocalist, but he did too much too often. Yes, we get it, you have high range.
The rockstar sound track is awesome
In the 90’s I was at a small bar in San Antonio Texas, and Steelheart was having a concert. I stood not five feet from them while they were playing, and they sounded just as if it was a CD, or nowadays streaming! This group to me was going to be the next level rock genre. The lead singer MILJENKO MATIJEVIĆ has the voice of an ANGEL GIFTED DIRECTLY FROM GOD, and I will forever consider Steelheart, one of my my favorite rock bands of all times! That kind of raw talent comes from a higher power!
They don't make humans like this anymore😟
wtf? 😂
Steph & Burch, he is from Croatia. I had interviewed him last year, and he is still sing a lot, toruing around the world. keep rocking guys. A big hi from Brazil!
Hello Facul from Brazil! That is very cool you got to interview him. Was that for a podcast or are you in radio? I have seen some of his recent vids and he still kills it.
It's good to hear he's back in Croatia, back in the beautiful land of our ancestors.
Might I suggest you play Steph Slaugter's "Fly to the Angels", there is a live acoustic version that Mark [Slaughter] really kicks ass on.
Mark Slaughters voice is phenomenal. Between him and Kip Winger, the pure highs are just beyond what the normal human can hit with clarity and longevity.
Mili has never gotten the full respect that he deserves. One of the very best, indeed!
They didn’t have the long term success because just when they were getting going he had a bad accident on stage and his band basically abandoned him. But he’s back and still singing fabulously. He’s been super popular in Asia! Look him up. You’ll see his story! This man is just pure talent! Great reaction!
They are amazing. My favorite is "I'll Never Let You Go".
There are no words sufficient enough to express my amazement and joy when l hear this guy sing, he is just incredible.
Miljenko sang on the Movie RockStar he was the “voice” of the lead singer in all the concert performances
Precisely. That is the mainstream "gig" that he had. Have never ear anyone quite like him since.
You must listen...I ll never let you go... my favourite one
MIljenko is an amazing singer. His vocal range is beyond impressive. Also, he's Croatian.
You know what I love? That man could go to ANY genera of music and probably make more money (unfortunately) but he is loyal to Rock! 🤘
That’s cool. My grandmother was Croatian.
I've watched soo many reactions to this video.
I just love to see the faces of the youngsters when he goes where he goes.
Awesome video… thanks for bringing Steelheart on to the next generation 🙏🏻♥️ Luckily I saw the band live in 1992. A rare moment of rock history 🙌🏻🎸🇺🇸
Tommy Johansson's (Sabaton) cover of this is pretty insane, too. Worth a look.
Angel Eyes was their biggest hit, I believe. Insane vocals on that one, too.
Steelheart was so underrated. ❤️
They were such a victim of timing and circumstance. 4 years earlier and who knows....
Though I lived through this period when Steelheart was coming-up, I somehow totally missed their work, & especially this song which I recently stumbled upon….now I’m totally obsessed w/it & w/Mili’s voice during that period of time- just incredible!! And can’t believe I’d never heard of him until now. Kip Winger & Mark Slaughter were great singers too & more well-known…the “whole package,” but I think Mili had a superior voice, especially in those higher registers.
I'll Never Let You go is a must for sure. Sticky Side Up is another good tune!!!
Miljenko still sings like a god. Please listen to "Lips of Rain" or "My Love is Gone", some of his recent songs. Still gives you chills every time you listen to him.
Steelheart came on the scene at the end of the hair band era, plus his accident on stage. Their CD was the very first CD I purchased. My kids were not even in kindergarten yet and they heard Steelheart everday.
His vocal range is like listening to a sports car shift through all its gears! Amazing! Saw him in 2022 in Vegas and he still can belt it out. Good review you two:)
"I'll Never Let You Go" was the big one that I remember.
Cute video show. Good to see a lot of Hair Metal and the positive reception the guests have. all though the hair metal genre was short lived after it's explosion, no one can ever take away the talent, vocals, lyrics, and overall performance this genre gave. best music genre ever, and because of the misogyny of it all, it will most likely never exist as we once knew it to be. But we can relive it!
Miljenko and Steve Perry, singers with insane talent.
I was a fan back then and still a big fan! I’ve introduced my sons to this genre of rock and they love it! It’s a fusion of Post Malone and 80’s rock, wonderful!!
As someone who lived 80’s metal I miss it and still listen to it today
If you two haven't seen Tommy Johansson covering this song, PLEASE check it out. You WON'T be disappointed.
A lot of the great 80’s hair bands wrote their own songs. Lots of talent.
All of them
"Auto-Tune will come to fear my vocal powers." --- Miljenko Matijevic
Lol
😂
Steelheart was actually used in movies. Miljenko was the voice of Mark Wahlberg in the movie "Rock Star" and the movie featured a bunch of steelheart songs
Also there's a vocal range video for him on youtube that has his lower and higher ends
You should hear Tommy Johansson lead guitarist of Sabaton sing his cover of this. He's got an amazing voice.
Miljenko had an amazing voice
I am so so so sooo sad that i was born in the mid 90's and missed all of this, a golden era with the best singers ever. The music that is popular now does not demand this kind of power and talent, and if it does it is often done with autotune.
You guys absolutely need to watch Nightwish- Ghost love score live in Wacken 2013 with the best female vocalist Floor Jansen.
He was the voice of Marc Whalberg in the movie Rockstar....Steel Dragon
There were a lot of great singers in that time. Tony Harnell from TNT and Michael Sweet from Stryper were tremendous; especially live.
You nailed it. Geoff Tate, Sebastion Bach and especially "Mike" Matijevik were the big 3 from the hair band days with REAL pipes.
I talked to Mike outside a concert in Illinois and when i asked how old he was he said "Dude, I'm old.....23" lol
1) queensryche weren’t glam 2) midnight from crimson glory is better than all of them
Warrel Dane was also better than those you listed
Great video guys!
As a swede I haved to comment on my man Joey Tempest, I think Europe was in their "padawan" years in the 80s, still forming their own identity, trying to figure out their sound and who they wanted to be. They were also SO young when they starting popping off and were just scratching the surface. However I really think they came into their own when they reunited in '03 I personally think they have only gotten better since they started again, since then they've released six albums each one better than the last and sound amazing live to me. I think Joey is one of the best singers from that era who's voice can still carry immaculately today. Their live performances from "Sweden rock 2013" and Wacken are amongst my favorites but their last two albums I think are best
You guys are great!
Let me first say, I still rock Europe to this day. I think, actually I know their musicianship got over looked because of image. Joey and the band are great performers and I saw them on the FC tour in 80's.
@@flickeringboxofficial That is awesome!!
I was also surprised by this comment. Fortunately I saw Europe back in the day in Wash. DC. I remember him sounding excellent then and in videos over the years he still sounds good.
I saw Europe live some 12 years ago I guess and they were great! Joey's voice too!
And John Norum's solo work I fully appreciate too......check out his 'Back on the streets'.
Tony Harnell from TNT I believe belongs in the same class of singer. If you’re not familiar, Northern Lights would be a great example. Love your content!
I was going to write the same! One of my favorite groups back then for sure
amen
tony was a beast
No doubt! Tony Harnell hardly gets mentioned as much as he should in these Rock/Metal vocalist convos. Back in the day that dude was tearing the mic up on jams like "Tell No Tales & Everyone's A Star" to "Northern Lights & End Of The Line." +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls+
I agree
I love the drums , the guitars.. everything about this song is just beautiful, the emotions , everything ❤❤
Another singer that had a phenomenal range was Fred Curci. He was the singer for Sheriff and Alias. Ineresting story is that the Sheriff song "When I'm with you" hit #1 after Curci and guitarist Steve DeMarchi left Sheriff and formed Alias. Both groups would be great reaction material
Great Suggestion!
You named my 3 fave rock singers mili, Geoff and Seb.
The 80’s and early 90’s were the best musicians ever! So much talent
if i ever get that high pitched, someone better be calling 911...no way im in that range unless I'm in distress...lol😂
🤣
Birch, you should introduce Steph to "like never before" I have a feelin' Steph will like this one even more
One of the best rock singers ever!
They did a lot of songs for the movie Rockstar with Donnie Whalburg and Jen Aniston. My kids was watching it one day when I walked into the room and into the next and it hit me … I ran back in the other room and asked them, what are you watching? And they told me. Then I had to share songs with them 😂.
And their biggest Mainstream is probably I’ll never let you go…
I have seen them live twice also… on the first and second albums, met all the guys (they were all great guys) got a corona bottle from the drummer (after missing the tequila bottle that Mili used to hand out, it went right over my head) but they all autographed the bottle for me, my best friend got Milis bottle.
Steelheart.... Mama, Don't You Cry... gets me everytime...
Esse cara canta de mais..
Incrível.
Deve ser um anjo caído.. kkkkk
Miljenko Matijevic.. croata.
Crazy thing is? He still sounds as good today as then.
Dude, What about I'll never let you go? That was a big hit for them! Play that for her!
There’s a live video maybe 2015ish of Steel Heart doing I’ll Never Let You Go and he can still hit the notes!!! Must watch
Hi there, just found your channel and i enjoyed the reaction...bon jovi, skid row, poison, motley crue, guns n roses, white lion, def leppard and many more 80's rock you can share with her..
I allways say to my son who is 17 the ppl that we hear on radio and tv are artists, the ppl and the music we will allways remember are musicians and there music will allways be playing the new stuff we will not remember at all
Yesss this great and amizing voice perfect to her s voice the pormance the guyzzz i love
Thanks for this deep heart reaction of such a great natural singer like Miljenko, Heavy Metal Rock Bands Songs are coming back! Great video guys thanks.
My fave male voice. Just, the feelings he can get from you.... Shivers every time I hear him.
Milo one of greatest singers of all time bar none !
We were definitely spoiled. 👍🏻
Great couple of albums they had
Miljenko matijevic has almost an angelic voice 😀 he's from Croatia
Thought that but didn't want to get it wrong and live in internet infamy :) Thanks Alexander.
@@flickeringboxofficial just happy that you are introducing your daughter to good music 🤘 not the garbage 🤮 we have today.
@@alexandersippel Another kick-azz vocalist hailing from Croatia is Dino Jelusick. Dino's jamming & collabing in projects with a bunch of different rockers. Dino's been with "Trans Siberian Orchestra" for a few years now & David Coverdale recently hired him in Whitesnake as the keyboardist (which Dino also rock's on keys) & picking up the slack for David singing on some tunes.
@@216Numbskull cool 😎
Listen to Skidrow’s i remember you, the live version at Wimbley stadium and you’ll see that Sebastian sounds as good as in the studio version… just incredible!
No auto-tune, just talent. Great to see someone giving Steelheart a go.
He`s/they`re from Connecticut.....His voice was "injured" and never the same after an accident(somewhere on RUclips,I think)onstage when some sort of lighting truss/equipment fell on his head during a live show---you can see after he got back on his feet,he was so angry, started throwing things and was taken to the hospital shortly after......you can probably find it somewhere--it`s been decades since I saw it.....
It really was a shame. I have watched videos of him recently and he sounds awesome. He is a trooper for sure
This dude was born in Croacia and moved to the States around 1970 , Steelheart Is a very good band sadly underrated
I seen them in concert at a club when the power went out due to a storm Miljenko kept singing and hit every note what a great voice. He is up there with Perry and Delp
I bet Steph knows I'll never let you go. That was played at many prom dances. I'm 52 and still remember that. Had Girlfriends 15 years younger than me and heard that at their proms.
You have great taste in music my friend!! You have to let her hear Geoff Tate with Queensryche. The best one is "Take Hold of the Flame" Live in Tokyo 1984. Probably the best live version I've ever heard!! Keep up the great reactions.
I agree
I was in high school and university in the 80s and I never heard of the band. Just stumbled on this today. Fantastic song and singer.
Never let you go was probably their biggest hit
Have interviewed him for my website and what a cool cool guy..Told me how he overcame his accident and yes he showed me the view of the new york skyline as he was in new york at that time and he was doing the interview from a very tall place ..maybe a hotel or something.
New subscriber here! 80's rock bands let's go!!!
"I'll never let you go" Please!!! Love your reaction! Love you Burch for introducing awesome music to Steph!
he said it took them 10 years to get signed, and they practiced so much that when they did get signed, they didnt even need much production.....they went thru the entire 80s without being signed. And he wrote almost all of their material....AND ITS LIVE
The Best Hard Rock Bands was in the 78's - 80's by their Potential Voices ❤
The most popular Steelheart song was (Angel Eyes) "I'll Never Let You Go"
Love this song, it’s so powerful ❤
Michael sweet from stryper another great singer and still can still sing great today
Steelheart were amazing...John Fowler...R.I.P
I feel like she might have heard I’ll never let you go. Definitely played on the radio
Finally someone appreciates Skid Row and Steelheart so underrated and so much raw and pure Talent's. You should do I never let you go from Steelheart. Can't wait for Wasted Time Reaction. Yes, Guys can have long Hair and still looking good!!
He is also the singer of the rock band "Steel Dragon" from the movie "Rockstar". For the folks who love these type of songs, high vocals, 80s metal songs, there are a lot and almost every song of SteelDragon on that movie are amazing. Also Zakk Wylde the guitarrist so it is pure rock.
The song We all die young will show his range still.
And he is still rocking today... better than ever. And...he always chews gum!
Actually interviewed him a few weeks back, here it is ruclips.net/video/oY56UG1JpG8/видео.html
So cool...Since 1989 ..
When I listened to your other reactions this past week, and she was talking about the range of his vocals-- I think it was Skid Row- the hair bands are still my go to for music, even the 80s/early 90s love music - my prom theme was "At this Moment" ( Billy Vera)
Chewing gum gets the saliva going, to help someone sing if they’re a little dry. I hope you guys can react to the band “Giant.” Almost no one reacts to them, because they’re so underrated. I really don’t care what song you react to by Giant, because I would be happy just to hear you guys react to them. The singer is multi talented. I heard he trains guitarists to get better at playing.
My God, finally someone mentioned this band, I'll see you in my dreams is my favourite
@@SneharthoDey Great song, and I believe their biggest hit. If you like that song, you must like “Lost in Paradise” off their next album Time to Burn. If you haven’t listened to it, look it up on RUclips. Their genre of music died by then, otherwise they would have made a music video to that song, and it would have been a hit in my estimation. I have a great sense in what is a potential hit song.
Dann Huff is a guitarist's guitarist. He has done so much studio work for many artists, and with his brother David in Giant, they put out some bangers. And yes... "I'll see you in my dreams" is a classic. The guitar intro to 'I'm a believer' is still etched in my memory
@@ericpegram9737 “I’m a Believer”~I love that song! Also “Innocent Days” which is probably my favorite song by Giant.
Remember when I was a teenage and thanks to the internet I started to found these great bands like Steelheart, Skid Row, Cinderella.. All those bands that maybe wasn't mainstream o too much popular.. So much talent that unfortunately it kinda are lost in these days
Ok. Just found you earlier and watched the Jani Lane video and now watching this and this guy is unbelievable. He is just unbelievably a good singer and his range as you say is like no other!
What a great band!
You should do the song he does with piano about his mother. I can't remember the name, but it's too early in the AM and I've not had enough coffee and I'm old and the 70's are killing me.. LOL
Thanks. I'm going to subscribe!
Yeah, that live version of _Mama Don't You Cry_ exudes his motion. Have to say that all of this live in Tokyo performance is best watched prior to the music video & studio release versions to appreciate his talent - without any of the modicum of vocal layer engineering sometimes applied to vocal tracks - and, yet, regardless, follow through reacting to the studio tracks/music video releases (the latter in a couple instances, IIRC, a shortened radio-edit of the album track but get to see him using his instrument all the while sporting stage presence in one particular song while stretching back into an amazing back-bend when delivering a high note).... Regarding _Mama Don't You Cry_ studio track, you not only hear his emotion alongside his vocal control, you are also treated to a good job of the children's choir which isn't in the live performance. 👍
@@That_Handle Yeah. Very cool stuff. Too bad he was in that accident that stopped the band in their tracks. I think the whole band would have been huge. ♥️🤘♥️
Mama Don't You Cry, I will add it to the list but maybe for later. My mom passes away a few months back and hits to close to home for now. Nobody wants to see my balling on screen.
@@flickeringboxofficial I'm really sorry about your mother. Just whenever you have time and feel like it.
