- Steph really enjoyed reacting to Vixen, Edge of a Broken Heart. Exceptional musicians and fierce performers, it is great to go back and see what metal used to be and how much fun it really was. Vixen proved that they were a force and that they were more than just imagery, they were metal! At that time Vixen was Jan Kuehnemund (lead guitar), Janet Gardner (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Share Ross (bass guitar), and Roxy Petrucci If you enjoy our video please like the video and subscribe to our channel. I am from Russia, I adore the group Vixen, an amazing team, I am very sorry for the loss of Jan Kuehnemund in 2013, I pray for her that God would grant her the Kingdom of Heaven.
Ahhhh, the AquaNet days. Leather jackets, parachute pants, and gold-tipped boots. And chains. Thems were the days.
Great reaction and a great song, but my favourite Vixen song is "Love Is a Killer" R.I.P. Jan, you really were nailing the solo.
We will add Love is a Killer to the list Gareth. That song was really under the radar. People expected it to be a sappy power ballad, boy were they mistaken. Love that song! Great Call Gareth
It's my favorite as well. Awesome tune.
I love that song!!
@@flickeringboxofficial there's two main videos of that song, the studio recording but also a live acoustic version, and both are really good. I'd go with studio first, but the acoustic has a live video, so might be better to view.
My fave Vixen song
I absolutely loved Vixen. I cried like a baby when I heard Jan died. Rest In Peace beautiful lady. ❤😢
Roxy Petrucci was considered to take over the drummer's role in David Lee Roth's band. That's how good she was.
That is so cool. I never knew that. Roxy had the coolest drum set.
And if not mistaken, she played for Enuff Z Nuff too
She is still a killer drummer..
I loved her!!!!
I remember Roxy from the Detroit area. She always has been very good.
Richard Marx actually wrote this song and you can find videos of him doing it live
I thought I heard that Hobert at sometime...great to know. I will have to find the version of him doing the song. That would be interesting.
@@flickeringboxofficialRichard Marx - Edge of a Broken Heart ruclips.net/video/HX5S_-UG_G4/видео.html
He has a great story about working with them recording the song in his book.
Thank you.. I wanted them to mention that.. It's written on the sleeve of the tape,cd, and album..
Along with Fee Waybill
R.I.P Jan..she was a phenomenal guitarist.
Lol, I am 5'3" and with hair and heels I was almost 6' Aqua net was a friend to all of us! The 80's were such a fabulous time!
Undeniable for sure Kate! Yours is the best quote of the day :)
RIP Jan! The current singer is Lorraine Lewis, formerly of Femme Fatale! You gotta introduce her to "Waiting For the Big One", and "Fallin' In and Out of Love"!
I still have a massive crush on Roxy Petrucci.
I MET ROXY AT A WALMART IN MACOMB TWSP. MICH IN 2015, VERY NICE LADY
Hi guys! Names Darryl. I'm 51 years old and grew up on 80s rock and roll. I was just in love with these girls. Saw them 2 times and what shows! Been to about 40 concerts in my lifetime. Started with loving pop music and keeping track of top 40. Then I wanted heavier music. Got into alot of the 80s bands. Just loved it! Thank you, ps more 80s reactions please!
A little older Sir..also a Rock Fan.one of the few who spell Darryl correctly!
Vixen and Heart were my favorite female rock bands at that time...
The runaways
It wasn't just a picture of Poison that was Rikki Rocket the drummer of Poison riding the Harley , also when Jan falls off the workout machine that exact bit was in Poison video with Rikki on the machine !!
R.I.P Jan! What a great guitar player. ❤
Jan was well into her mid 30s when this hit. Her first band was signed in the early 70s. She never gave up on her dream.
That is amazing, didnt know that Chris, thank you..
I was gonna mention the solo stop, thanks fir educating her.🤘😎🤘
Jan always remined me of Nancy Wilson in her stage mannerisms.
Saw Vixen in Atlanta in 1989. An awesome show, and beautiful ladies all!
Jan Kuehnemund, with her signature "raccoon tail" in her hair, was a LEGIT trained guitarist (RIP)! Share Pederson was a "trained" Bass Player, and drummer Roxy was a BEAST! Janet Gardner with the looks and Golden pipes! Vixen was a LEGIT BAND full of power houses!
This October will be the 10th anniversary of Jan Kuehnemund's passing! RIP Guitar Angel.... FLY HIGH!
So sad, Jan was amazing. You are correct Axe, all just amazing musicians.
They were good looking and sounded great
In case you didn't know, Roxy and her sister Maxine were in a band together called Madam X. They had a young singer in the band for a while that you know, one Sebastian Bach.
Share's last name was Pedersen, not Pederson. She goes by Ross now, if I'm not mistaken.
@@robertkennedy5414 im 55 yrs old major metal head and i never heard of that ,,,is it really true?
This was a fun reaction. My kids all rode in the truck with me so, they pretty much had to listen to my music. The stereo in my truck cost 3X what my truck did so everyone got to experience the tunes. I lived by the old KNAC radio blurb. If it's too loud, you're too old!
Glad you liked it Walter, can't tell you how much fun it is making them.
I miss KNAC. I have a KNAC shirt to this day with that motto on the back.
Beautiful songs you picked love them, mis the 80's
I’m 29 I’ve always listened to hair metal because of my metal head parents. Jan Kuenemund is absolutely the best. Man do some Warlock for a reaction! Doro is a beast!
My favorite song of Vixen is How much love.
Great react for a great band! Simply Amazing! Next, Lista Ford please! See you at the next, 🤟🏻🦊🇯🇵🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cool video. I got to see Vixen shortly after the release of the movie "Hardbodies." They did a USO tour and performed at Kunsan AB, Korea, where I was stationed. I got a bandana from Janet Garner's leg, and each member autographed it. It's a treasure! RIP Jan.
I saw Vixen play a club in Hickory NC in support of “Rev It Up”. Amazingly tight band. Thirty years later, still one of the best live acts I’ve seen. R.I.P. Jan 🙏
I had a crush on Janet Gardner the singer and she's still beautiful today. Also R.I.P Jan Kuehnemund the lead guitar player, she died of cancer on october 10, 2013 at 59 years old.
Saw Vixen for the first time last summer. They opened for Tesla. They never played anywhere close to me in the 80’s so I never saw them live. They were fantastic last summer. Hoping to see them again someday. 🎉
It’s amazing how many 80s hits Richard Marx was a part of! Jeff Paris too
Love that you’re introducing this music to a lot of people on here!
Now that you say that I can hear Richard in this song wow
@@williambraden3912 pretty sure richard marx wrote this song for vixen, you can see him doing a version of this song somewhere
@@williambraden3912 If you listen to Vixen's songs you can really hear the Marx FEEL in them. They could easily have been songs on his albums. Listen to Cryin and tell me that's not a RM song.
Dad! You gotta let her know, never to stop during a guitar solo! That is a rock n roll no no!
Otherwise, great reaction, love what you guys are doing! Rock on 🤘🏼
I feel so old.... I was at one of those early shows with Vixen and Poison ... Miss you Share... Peace!!!
Hay guys. I'm from Australia, I saw Vixen live in 1988 , they were my biggest crush at 15 , Janet Gardiner got me so bad ! Lol , I saw Poison live at Brisbane entertainment centre in 1989 , such a mad show , Skid Row in 1990 and Warrant , also Bon Jovi same place , ACDC same year , Motley Crue same year and Metallica , then 1993 30th January at Eastern Creek Sydney I saw Guns N Roses live with Skid Row and Rose Tattoo with my always rememberd lovely lady I'll never forget Kylie Weaver from north side Brisbane Australia.
Partied with these ladies... all can drink most under the table. Best group of gals you ever want to hang with after a show.
I got to see them twice. One of times was in a club that had 1200 person occupancy. After the show they came to the front, and spent about an hour just talking to us. They have such class.
Loved this song for years. And good call on the no pausing during a solo 😂
How beautiful was Jan Kuehnemund.
In the dark ages, Vixen played a bar, ad's promised a Sexy set, they wore white turtle neck and century 21 type blazers
Good show
You got a new sub for this one, never seen a Vixen reaction. RIP Jan. 💞
Thank you Chris. We take recommendations too :)
@@flickeringboxofficial I'd love to see some White Lion, not much of that out there.
I was totally in love with the guitar player back in the day!
I was a fan of Vixen as well and got to see them once in concert. That concert will be so memorable because they were a cool band but it was also the night Operation Desert Storm began. They were truly beautiful but Jan could totally jam on that guitar. RIP to Jan.
same got to see them once, still have my ticket stub and a guitar pick from Janet Gardner
Love y'all, because I'm an 80's teen trying to get my kids into my music!!! 😁❤️🎼🤘
LOL The secret to the 80s big hair was Aqua-Net hairspray. In the pink can. That was the super-hold hairspray. Poison singer Brett Michaels talked about it on VH1. "I think between us and Motley Crue, we single-handedly caused the hole in the ozone layer." 🤣
Thank you, that was awesome, Vixen rocks!
"Cruisin'" was my favorite song from them, saw them play it in Charleston when I was stationed there. ♥
Love it !! Lors of sweaty nights in tje Daytona Beach Ocean Center for me too back in the day! Keep hair metal alive!!
One of my most favorite shows at the Ocean Center, Whitesnake, Great White and Trixter in 88 at the height of spring break. That was a weekend for the ages Greg
@@flickeringboxofficial mine was Ratt , Great White and Kix. Ahh the memories. Appreciate the channel!
Hey guys! Just found your channel and am absolutely loving your reactions, especially Steph with the 80's music. I would love to see y'all react to Heart and their song Alone. I know you have a long list to go through but I'm hoping you can add that to it if it isn't on there already. Keep it up, y'all are doing great.
Keep recording those reactions! You two are so charismatic!
Great reaction!! Recommend Forever Young by Tyketto 🔥🎶🤘
Added to the list Sam. You may have just inspired a video for me to do. I could name my top 5 bands that never quite made it but should have. I have a list a mile long for that one. Ones that came around just a little to late, internal issues...might be interesting.
@Flickering Box That's brilliant! So many AOR/Melodic Rock bands should have been massive! I am in the same boat as yourself with an endless list 😂 Greetings from Scotland! 🏴
I remember one of them saying on the show "Bands Reunited" that they used so much hairspray that if you lit a match in their dressing room it would have caused an explosion.
I really like that you're not following the youtube "trends". You got a new subscribe.
Glad to see how well the channel is thriving. If I had kids I'm of the age were I would be doing this too. God the long hair and hairspray. I remember taking my mom's makeup before one of our gigs.. Boy was she pissed the next day when we rolled in.. haha
I love the MTV live Spring Break version of this song. It really shows their true talent live:) excellent reaction:)
For those who may not know, Vixen was the garage band in the movie "Hardbodies" came out in 1984.
no stopping in the middle of a solo are you crazy no more lol
We caught it and went back 😀
I was thinking about doing Vixen 😂😂😂😂😂😂 you can’t imagine how hard you have to laugh as a German speaking. Great Band!
I'm 51 and I I still pop Vixen into my workout/driving music rotation to this day.
I'm pretty sure my kids have had similar reactions to things I've blasted out with them in the car.
80's music was the best - in spite of the fashion choices 🤣
It was sad that the band broke up and we lost Jan - but I think a version of Vixen, with Roxy still drumming, is keeping the flame alive.
They were actually very very good live! VERY GOOD N SOUNDED ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
I saw them twice. vixen, Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne. Those women just had IT. I wore my vixen tank top for years. You could hear the heart influence live.
I saw them with Ozzy and White Lion, and they were fantastic. Vocals were absolutely fantastic!
Great reaction , I love Vixen I still have my audio cassette of Rev It Up.
I think the ONLY glam metal band that ever made it into real glam metal that wasn't a male band , and they rocked , soooo well !
I was in love with Roxy Petrucci lol... Rest In Peace Jan Kuehnemund.
I left a few comments, just want to let you know, I am definitely subscribed 🤘
Thank you for the subscription. I noticed you dropped a few comments. Just so you know, that does mean alot. We don't get to answer all of them but I do try to read them all. Now a days there so many it's hard to keep up
I was lucky to see them at a small venue in Minnesota before MTV made em big was awesome very professional
My favorite Vixen song is Cryin' You guys need to do that one.
I watched a show a long time ago on VH1 "Bands reunited" where they were showcased. Its worth a watch.
Saw Vixen in 89. Vixen. White lion and ozzy. Vixen is currently on tour opening for stryper
love the reactions and the comments!! subscribed!
Man!!! 1988, you couldn't distinguish between Vixen and a male glam band. This song was great!! I loved the register change at the end of the song.
Sure you could
These girls didn't come to play games. They came to kick ass and kicked ass they did AND THEN SOME!
I’ve seen Vixen with Deep Purple as Headliner in 1991 live in Concert in the Grugahalle in Essen Germany .
Sass Jordan was another great female rocker. Saw her live in a small club, was one of favorite shows ever.
Back in high school, I spiked my hair with hairsprays like LA Looks, Stiff Stuff, etc and my mom hated it, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was lucky to see them open for Scorpions on their European tour in the 80s and they were amazing. Another good band around that time was Madam X, also with Roxy Petrucci on drums along with her sister Maxine on lead guitar.
I had a big vixen poster on my wall when I was a teenager.
How much love is it gonna take
I was lucky enough in 1980 to go to a Meet and Greet with Vixen. I still have their Autographs. They were playing in Nashville. I Literally LOVE these Girls.
saw them live back in the day, was a great show.. man i miss the 80s hair bands
Love your daughters enthusiasm!!!🤘
Man! I love Vixen so much. I wore my first cd out and had to get a second. Vixen posters on my wall as a kid... the works.
Steph: "OK, these babes are bad ass."
Yes... just... yes!
I don't know if someone mentioned it, I'm pretty certain that Richard Marx wrote this track for them, and it launched them. He's written so many hits for other bands, it would shock you.
Doro is also amazing. I play Metal Tango by Warlock close to a hundred times or more around Halloween. When she hits that "dance demons".... it just gives me chills, and I just imagine the view from above of a high school dance at Halloween, all the costumes and face paint, and 80's hair, and kids just jamming to it. I really miss being a kid!
Love your reactions, your stories, and the pure happiness on Steph's face. Can't wait for what's next.
You guys are great! I've been enjoying watching Steph's reactions as I'm in my early 50s too and also grey up listening to all these metals bands. I saw Vixen once when they opened for Ozzy on his No Rest for the Wicked tour in the summer of 89.
As for suggestions in this vein, how about Heart - Alone, Never or What About Love.
I'm an 80's guy ,I remember back then, talking about the bandanas rumors said talking about the bandanas on the microphone stand.
They said that Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, that was where he kept his drugs so he wouldn't have to leave the stage. He had pockets sown into them. I don't know if it was true or not but that is where the style comes from.
These ladies were great. Incredible sound, very hard rocking, and totally nailed the glam metal look. Their songs were super strong too, yet a lot of people today have never heard of them. Steph's comments on the '80's are hilarious, but seriously, it was a really cool time and I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in that era. Keep the videos coming. Cheers!
this is a great 80 all female band im glad I was a child in the 80
I've always wondered if they took guys back stage. That's a awesome thought.
True fans, know Vixen was in the very 80's, teen movie Hardbodies.... before the big makeover. And wow, what a makeover. Being an 18 year old at the time,.... hubba hubba. Wow
I'm glad I grew up in the 70s and 80s best time of all
Imagine buying this album on a cassette as a new release...yes I had that chance when I was much younger, the music is still good to this day. I wore that tape out, now own the CD!
I love your content you and I grew up with the same music I love that you’re exposing her to such great music 👍🏻🤘🏻⚡️💪🏻
I love this song and band. We as a high school in Indiana won a radio contest for vixen to have a concert at our school. AWESOME!!! THANKS TO 99.5 WZPL INDIANAPOLIS. IT WAS THE BEST GROWING UP IN THE 80'S AND GRADUATING IN 91.
As far as female groups or female lead singers, don't forget Heart, Lita Ford (& The Runaways), The Go-Go's, The Bangles, and the great L7.
Roxy Petrucci played in Her Sister Maxine’s Band Madam X. And Sebastian Bach was also a member of Madam X before He joined Skid Row.
Birch, I had the Tempest perm too. 🤘🏻. Ladies with the big hair 😍
I like your videos I am a Latin dude I grew up with a lot of Latin music from my parent's but in middle school I discover guns and roses I'm 48 now and I fall in love with this music it's like watching a teacher showing our history of our music and bringing more people to our music keep on doing this.
Yes indeed Vixen was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Janet Gardner, now a dental hygienist and is 61 yrs old now still tours with the band. Guys that grew up in the 80s we all still love the girls big hair like you nothing wrong with that style.
Did you know that Share Pedersen (now Ross) was part of a supergroup called Contraband? The lineup was Michael Schenker and Tracii Guns on guitars; Share on bass; Bobby Blotzer on drums and Richard Black on vocals. Share is that good!
Alright my good people..... I stumbled onto your channel to check it out. Are you kidding me ⁉️ I was privileged to see Vixen twice ‼️ This band was no joke/ gimmick. Solid musicians individually, and a great blanking rock band ‼️🔥💯🔥🎼🎶🎸🥁🎤🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Vixen is awesome and is always great to rock out to and remember the good times. Heart was always my favorite. Ann Wilson could make you feel the music.
I remember when the Drummer Roxy Petrucci played in Her Sister Maxine’s Band Madam X. And before Skid Row was Skid Row Sebastian Bach was in Madam X.
Vixen rocks! Really like femme Fatale as well, in which the lead singer is now the singer for vixen.🤘😎🤘
