Awesome , saw Tal play with the Allman Brothers at the Beacon on Liz Reed and she killed it . Been a fan ever since . Saw her a few other times with Jeff Beck she is awesome. Great version of a great song . Thanks for posting this 🙏. Never mind Jimmy Hall he really is a legend still sounds great to this day.Wow what a great tribute.
Tal is an amazing bass player! I first fell in love with her when I watched her playing with Jeff Beck on the 2007 live at Ronnie Scott's video ...any true music fan NEEDS to watch that video as Jeff Beck was an brilliant guitarist--he was voted one of top 5 guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone. Incidentally, Vinny Colaiuta, who played with Frank Zappa between 1979 and 1981, played drums with Jeff Beck on that video. I attended the Allman Family Revival 2 years back in Macon and had a great time. Jimmy Hall sounded amazing at a very youthful 72 years-old and playing the predictable, but always enjoyable Keep On Smilin.
Saw them in Macon, Ga last night. We got Chuck Leavell and Butches kids (always a treat) too! And the same host of others you all got! Didn't know Tal sang...until last night..
And then there is the incomparable Jimmy Hall. How do you know the party is rockin? WHEN JIMMY HALL SHOWS UP THAT"S HOW. Lord he's cool. Even at his advanced years he is still one of the coolest front men in the business. I had opportunity to chat with him after one of his literally 1000's of Nashville outings. As good and decent a soul as you'd ever want to meet.
An all around fabulous performance on WP! Jimmy's strong vocals and a great idea having TAL, who always KICKS it in! Solid guitar solos..Duane's got me tearing up.Thank you thank you thank you❤🎶
that mustve been the infamous august jam at the speedway. I was there too. what a wild ride that was. the eagles cxld and ELP had the 4 way quad speaker cluster set up.
I think that is his dad’s original “Goldie” I watched a show where Dickie said he gave it to his kid when he started getting good and going out touring.
Wonderful to see Jimmy Hall singing Allman Brothers song. Jimmy is one of the greatest singers. I have always liked him all the way from the Wet Willie days. He is also very nice and a good person. Met him when he was singing with the Nighthawks. Great experience and he was really nice.
I was about to stop the video when the the guy with the hat n gold top les paul started soloing. He worked the knobs to a solid sweet tone. Well done. I'm here for curly haired, blessings from tomato patch texas. God bless one n all.
Sometime in early '74, I saw a triple-bill: A VERY young Rush opened (Huntington Beach CA). . . the middle act was Wet Willie. . . and the headliner was Rory Gallagher. . . the biggest mis-match I've ever witnessed. . . .or even HEARD of. Felt VERY sorry for Wet Willie!
Superb! And great opening bass solo by Tal, played through a big ol' Fender amp & cab. Sounds awesome, even though the back of a head intrudes on the video at times.
I saw the ABFR in Reading, PA last night. Tal's solo shook the entire theatre. Knowing it was leading into Whipping Post made it even better. Only bad point? A program titled Revival that didn't include the song Revival. I figured it would be the closer, but we got Midnight Rider instead.
Key words being reasonably well. No slight to these great musicians but it's hard to do an Allman song such as this as the original was on a level few bands have seen. Who is the guitarist playing with Betts?
May,,,not beeeee GREGG,,, on stage,,, but,my,,,my my!!!! You've,,,,got to give,,, this bandddddddddddd A10!!!!!!!! And WOW!!!!! What,!!!!!!! A voice,,,, Gregg,,, has,,,,, to be smiling,,,,,, cause I am,,,,, tkx's,,,, FREE. Bird,,,,/John,,,....☮️
For those of you appreciating Jimmy Hall, I recommend you check the back catelogue of Australian singer Matt Taylor, especially, but not exclusively, with the band Chain.
Man. The addition of Tal to this super talented bunch is the stuff of legend. The Allman's ALWAYS HAD TO HAVE a killer base player to make it work. Barry Oakley, Oteil Burbrige, Lamar Williams, Allen Woody, David Goldflies and now Tal. It doesn't get much better.
Tal Wilkenfeld had a pretty good mentor I’d say. Doesn’t hurt she beautiful as well as incredibly talented Bas player. She matched Barry Oakleys energy.
Hope there is more of this show on RUclips. Would like to see what Ally Venable and Sierra Hull did with the band too. Love Tal. Devon and Dwayne git jacked by her opening solo I think.
@@georgestevens1502 you are very welcome. Happy Holidays! Here’s the full playlist. The Allman Betts Family Revival ruclips.net/p/PLIjul7xuj0fg9S0GT8TQcY4UBT6ufgnzE
Well, all right. An Allman Bros. cover band made up pf some of the original members' offspring and an Australian-born bassist. I see Ally Veneable played in this, too.
Well Jimmy is over 70, so he may have lost a step or two. Saw him in Silverhill, Al. a few weeks ago. He sounded very good along with some great local musicians. Rick Hirsch and Randall Bramblett were there also. In high school I lived about 1/4 mile from his home in West Mobile. Wet Willie they were, and they rocked out with excellence.
Her best work with Jeff Beck especially song we ended as lover's solo was crazy that stuff she was playing before whipping post made no sense .She is great but that was weird
You know see how it was when somebody seamlessly sings the blues like Greg Allman sang the living daylights out of that song, forever with incredible feeling and truthfulness… and whoever is singing this now is just trying to push it over the top… to me, it’s just not working.. oh the band is totally cool never will be the Allmans but when it comes to the Vocals.. this just isn’t making it.. I bet Mike Mattison from Tedeschi Trucks band would just kill this !
If I'm Being Honest.Tal and Jimmy are in another league. I've seen Duane numerous times through the years.Other than his physical appearance there is no similarly between him and his dad. To go from Jeff Beck to this poor interpretation of the Allman Brothers is sad. Jeff you are so missed.
This came up in my feed. I like Tal- when I was younger I liked The Allman Brothers. In this case- a beyond boring Bass solo followed by a song best left forgotten- think of the title- pretty awful.
Jimmy Hall butchered this song. He needs to stick to Wet Willie songs like "Weekend" and "Macon Hambone Blues. It was obvious by the looks on the faces of the other players on the stage that they just wanted to get the song over with. I'd love to go to an ABBand reunion show, but if Hall is gonna be there, forget it. However, it would be worth it just to hear Tal play bass. She is an extremely talented musician.
Man his vocals gave me chills.
The Allman Brothers have been my life and direction since a young kid super family thank you ❤

I saw the Allman Brothers 1974 Charlotte NC
that mustve been the infamous august jam at the speedway.

Beautiful! Duane has come into his own!!! Out of the shadows! Excellent!
Fantastic Tal ,,,,just great play,,,🥰🥰
Bad Ass - Love these musicians
One of my favorite songs. Wow brought tears to my eyes. Fantastic version thanks.
Hosted her with her band and Jackson Browne for a private event in Cincinnati a few years ago. She’s an amazing musician.
Nice to see my old Mobile friend is still in the game and sounding great.
I'll never forget his 21st birthday party when they lived off Florida Street.
Taj with Beck were some of the best concerts I have ever seen. He loved her playing, too. It was very obvious....
Great song , good cover.
Wow! The tone on that Les Paul is amazing!! AND Jimmy Hall one of the best white soul singers
I think that is his dad’s original “Goldie” I watched a show where Dickie said he gave it to his kid when he started getting good and going out touring.
❤EXCELLENT
Tal is phenomenal !!!!!!!!!
Love @TalWilkenfeld! Great gig - thanks for posting!
Tal plays with such feeling and passion.

Good thing they had Jimmy Hall to pull them out of the fire.
Bloody fantastic !! ... man 0 man, that is sweet
Wish I was there!
I'll be watching this clip more than once.

Luv me some Tal !!!😊
The road goes on forever.
Jimmy Hall !!
I saw Wet Willie in a tobacco Warehouse in Moultrie, Georgia before they recorded their first album. It was obvious they were going places.
Saw the sister on a recent video. She is still gorgeous. Loved her in the Grand Funk video on.
Jimmy Hall. Nothing more needs to be said.
Not always my favorite but when I'm in that funky mood nothing beats it I'm sure frank would have agreed
Jimmy Hall one of the best white soul singers
Agreed! Tony joe White and Mike Finnigan as well!
Add Gary Stewart to this list.
why did you add white? not necessary...as if blacks or other races have more soul?
Hey hey hey Tal is AWESOME, what a player. GREAT GREAT GREAT, hat's off to Tal...
Jimmy Hall... been on stage with everyone, at least twice.
Older than dirt....and still sings like a master
Jimmy Hall!!!!!!!!
Just love the video of the back of some guys head!
It’s all about the music. I’m sorry my seats weren’t better.
WOW WHIPPIN' POST ON BASS. AWESOME
Superb! And great opening bass solo by Tal, played through a big ol' Fender amp & cab. Sounds awesome, even though the back of a head intrudes on the video at times.
Now THAT was nothing short of superb my friends. I do so hope I see this line up before I pass.
Tal is a bad ass!!
She's actually very well-mannered
I love the way she went into the main riff .
Whippersnappers! 😉
Tal, man!
Tal is everything you'd want in a bassist. Good band.

I don't see why people are dogging on it. It's not one of my fave ABB tunes, but it is being performed reasonably well.
Key words being reasonably well.

Wow! The tone on that Les Paul is amazing!!
Tal used to play with Jeff Beck. She is learning from the best about pure music. I think she has a very bright future.

That is Tal on bass !
Gregg was 22 years old when he wrote this. That's amazing.
Actually he was 21 when he wrote it in March 1969 in Jacksonville Florida.

jimmy Hall
Not even close. Greg Allman often imitated but never captured. Legend!
Many accolades to the bass player. Jimmy Hall still has his pipes.
He just makes you keep on smiling
That lead guitarist is the shit. And he doesn't use a pick wow! Bett'sJR is awesome too

Jimmy did a great job... “Wet Willy” you out there?
Hope there is more of this show on RUclips. Would like to see what Ally Venable and Sierra Hull did with the band too. Love Tal. Devon and Dwayne git jacked by her opening solo I think.

Nothing like the back of somebody's head bobbing to and fro in front of your camera lens
FOR SURE I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
Well, all right. An Allman Bros. cover band made up pf some of the original members' offspring and an Australian-born bassist. I see Ally Veneable played in this, too.
Devin Allman and Duane Betts have progressed light years on the guitar.
Tal is the butterfly bassist. She can mesh with probably any genre. No doubt he's Dickey's son, has a lot of his dad's phrasing and tonal accenting
Greg Allman was in his final year of med school when he joined the Allman brothers.
You should hear Chris Stapleton version... Amazing
JImmys my Monte Vista Basement Bud
Love Tai!!!
Not quite the Zappa version but prettty good
*Duane Betts, named after Duane Allman.
Tal is a beast bassist! She fucking rules!!
When was November 39?
Who's playing the 335?
That is the force of Nature, known as Cody Dickinson. Check out the North Mississippi All-Star's. His brother, Luther is also playing drums here.
Sounds like she's been listening to Shadowfax.
Man no matter who sings it they just can't sing it like Gregg.

I think Tal's great. However, apparently she didn't get the memo. Bass solos should be short and sweet. That was neither!😮
Get that man a wireless mic

Her best work with Jeff Beck especially song we ended as lover's solo was crazy that stuff she was playing before whipping post made no sense .She is great but that was weird

I think she is highly overrated.
You're prolly the kinda person who think Tina Weymouth represents the zenith of female bass players 😂
