As Adam Hay said, the passion is what is so evident, and his fearlessness of creating music in the present tense. Vinnie’s playing often takes time to process and digest and there’s always much to learn. He is always advancing and forever humble. ❤️
I've been watching Vinnie since the Joanne Rivers late night television 📺 show. He had the most unbelievable fills and chops back then that use to signal the Red carpet walk-in for Joanne Rivers to come out on with a very big smile 😃 on her face lol Vinnie is not only a drummer's drummer. But a Master of beat/groove displacements. And "King 👑", of odd subdivisions and monstrous 👹 ghost 👻 notes 📝. Vinnie has won more Modern-day drum awards more than any drummer in history. And still seems to be getting even better too .. Yeah,, I'd say that he is the Greatest living drummer of " All TIME " ..!!!!
Had the pleasure of seeing this group in 2017. Without a doubt, it was the best show I’ve ever seen. Vinnie sounded better than ever, and this band took this music to places I’ve never heard it taken before. 1000/10 would see again in a heartbeat.
Dudes an "ALIEN" NOT OF THIS EARTH!!! Awesome video, awesome view, and awesome venue (love Marin County sooooo beautiful). Had to have been a great show... Thanks for posting!!! 🤘🤩🤘
Hard to type and shake one's head in disbelief at the same time ... It's the passion he plays with that gets me every time. Thanks for posting this vid of this one and only genius from another planet. Been a fan of his since the 80s. Heeeeeeee's a frickin' extra-terrestrial!! All heart crazy genius madman! Vinnieee!!!! Gaaahhhhh!!!!! (thanks again for posting)
I've watched a few Vinnie/Hancock live performances now...and I honestly believe...Herbie can't keep up with Vinnie's playing. It's Herbie that makes these solos drag a little each time. Still...phenomenal performances from all.
When stellar musicians, those considered absolute masters at their craft, are referenced to folks that they got their real career start with Frank Zappa, the sad part is that some folks merely say, "Oh, the guy who sang Valley Girl with Moon." Those stellar musicians know their roots and know they're all in a special band camp.
I like when Vinnie plays what sounds like a "normal" beat, but it's actually a polyrhythm against the actual beat. It's so easy to lose where "1" is, though...
What’s he saying daddy? I don’t know son. It’s too advanced for us mere superluminary travellers to understand. But one day our science will catch up. We’ll come back in another 100 years, maybe then son, maybe then.
Dozo I am obviously attempting humour here. I’m a teacher and player of over 40 years experience. Vinnie is exceptional and deserves to be celebrated. I teach his phrases and whole transcripts quite often because of their creativity and original content. One can learn to imitate Vinnie. This in itself can be satisfying and worthwhile. But I prefer to enjoy his playing on a musical level, to get inside it and try to cultivate an aspirational and maybe deeper musical approach. I find him inspiring, not intimidating. What I was trying to convey, via irony, was the often cited parallel between music and language. It was perhaps a tenuous reference to Spielberg’s Close Encounters climax where the human keyboard player could no longer keep pace with the complexity of the alien conversation and a computer takes over. Various drummers through the last few decades of evolving drumming such as Virgil Donati, Ari Hoenig, Tony Williams take us beyond easy comprehension. I’m not being defeatist. I admire and respect Vinnie’s idea and technique rich displays. It’s simultaneously fun, cool, exciting, challenging and uplifting and all that good stuff, and often with a great sense of humour (which I’m sure Mr Zappa would appreciate enormously).
I think he's actually getting better all the time, best there's ever been for me
Yes, technically. But I prefer how he sounded in the 1980s.
Only Vinnie knows what he is doing.
Apparently not... The band hits always perfectly on his accents
@@cristianogillone3104 Of course they keep time.
So does Hancock.
Even Herbie is like: omg, where beat 1 is?!
@@cristianogillone3104 Seriously? Herbie gets it right 50% of the time, max. James is right there though.
Then he's one of the best of all times you can't even argue that it's not even debatable
Vinnies “actual proof” solo is at YET ANOTHER level. Still cracks me up Herbie misses all those kicks as he is getting lost in VCs metric modulations.
He isnt lost i guess.. thats how it is.. ive listen to every video..same part it happens..
Seeing as it's herb's gig I guess he really looses sleep over it!
MOSS MONACO *loses

Andy M more ghosts than MULTIPLE haunted castles!
Andy M That's great ha ha!!!
DaGretschguy thanks man!
hahahahahahahaha, cool man
Vinnie is simply a one of the best drummer in the world
He's one of the reasons why I love Gretsch drums. Vinnie gets the best sound out of the kit
@@matthewgonano636 Exactly- like the way Steve Gadd can make a box sound good ruclips.net/video/-EhLWGt7AFg/видео.html
@@matthewgonano636 True but play a Gretsch USA kit and then any other kit and tell me there is not a difference in tone!
One of his finest recent solos. GESSHHH
At first, thought that his drum-playing was triggering the synthesizers...Spectacular as always !

Vinnie one of the best of all times
Vinnie is absolutely insane
Best comment a drummer can get get 💯 ✨️
Mondo beyondo. I'll never even be able to get near what he's doing. I could live another 20 years & it wouldn't matter. On another level.

The master.
He had me at 0:01...I mean, just those first few notes were amazing...and yet somehow it got a LOT better...like...holy shit.
Some guys have chops, Vinnie has Balls! Whenever he solos he’s putting it all out on the line!

A True Monster!
The best
Magnífic
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
I thought those were samples of horns triggered by the drums at first like Peart used to do. Nope, just really tight.
Looking Well Vinnie, been a while since a Vinnie Vid was published on RUclips.

0:13 1 million dollars I give to Hancock if he can fall in "ONE" impossible with Vinnie
@satchafunkilus Vinnie just stretches the time like no other!!
Christ that was good.
Sounded like he had to put something straight. And he did.
Just before Vinnie’s solos: “ok boys, let’s strap ourselves in - we’re going on a wild ride”
This guy's good.
Whoa..
Yeah that's just Vinnie being Vinnie...
That was just him warming up, you should see the performance...
Game over

Vinnie at age 2:
"Mom, I want a drum kit."
Mom:
"Yes son, I know."

Does anyone have the full transcription of this solo?!

I'm no expert, but if I had to guess I'd say he'll be quite the little drummer one day.
