anyone with thumbs down I wonder why? Mr. Coliuta, is clearly the highest level living drummer, whether his playing resonates with any of us more than another drummer is a matter of personal preferences and influences, but straight on, drummer/musician, Vinnie is the greatest living from what I can tell
I am addicted geez, I have spent some times with Vinnie and have to say every moment was a great privilege .. probably the greatest living drummer .. so far beyond mortals like me
Every time I see and hear Vinnie play, I want to practice more. But all the practice in the world likely doesn’t even slightly close the considerable talent gap that exists between us. Vinnie is the drum god, and I have to accept that there’s a god-given element to it, too. He’s got it, I don’t.
Vinnie is my G. A. O. T no one plays or will ever play like him!! There's amazing drummers out there, he just happens to be my favourite... For obvious reasons 🤟😎💜🤍
Incredible always and always keeps expanding n his brilliant use of polyrythmic and best use and knowledge of displacement than any others...I should know I've studied with Vinnie way back 82,and he was showing me this great way of musicality incorporating abnormal groupings like quintuplets, 7s 9,s etc, and we are on recording called Thanx 2 Frank by Warren Cuccurllo and that's some of the best music ever and Warren even said Vinnie said after recording all songs save for the title track I'm playing on from the stony pony gign.j, Vinnie had to rise to the occasion cause it's not the easiest music to play by a long shot!! Well Vinnie you slated those tunes and sacred my track to remain for that alone I simply adore you as a great, compassionate human being and a very humble most amazing musician!! Thx,J.C
Amo a este baterista, su versatilidad y impecable ejecución. Fíjense, como todo gran baterista, sabe que no tiene que esforzar sus hombros, su agilidad y velocidad está primero en sus manos y brazos. Un genio.
can't understand!! why ther's peolple not appreciating this magnificent effort by vinni,, and not only video all youtube has dislikers i dont know why... maybe ther taste is better than perfect,, shame
Today I'm reading in ultimate-guitar magazine, some quotes by steve vai, when zappa was testing him as a 20 year old in berklee...frank sent him The Black Page to transcribe, and also Vinnnie's parts...and Vai says, regarding Vinnie's timing, '...he would super-impose meter on top of meter, and super-impose within the super-imposed meter polyrhythms, and within the polyrhythms that he was super-imposing over the super-imposed meter, he would create nested tuplets within the polyrhythm itself...'. Damn. I mean, DAMN!
Pretty good is a statement that belies quite a bit of ignorance. Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the most amazing contemporary drummers of the 20th century. Period. Where have you been?
Saying that Vinnie went from Gadd-to-buddy-to-unique is not anything like how it went. Vinnie was also heavily influenced by Tony Williams in his early years, and Jeff Porcaro during the dawn of his career, and probably hundreds more drummers and musicians... He was always VERY unique, not a Buddy or Gadd clone at any point during his time in the spotlight.
His playing with Herbie is his best ... It shows more than any other how he's really a jazz drummer ... He wouldn't say it ... But on the level of Tony Williams ...
I cut my teeth on him back in the early 80's. Check out his playing on Kenny Pores "Inner City Dreams"....especially 'the track titled 'Endurance'. Let's not forget Alan Dawson (1929-1996) the drum instructor at Berklee, for close to 20 years, a short list of his students includes, Steve Smith, Terri Lyne Carrington, Harvey Mason, John Robinson. Kenwood Dennard and of course. Vinnie C!
que loco esta vinnie¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡K GRANDE ME EMOCIONA ESTUVE EN ESTA ACTUQACION CON MIS HERMANO SU MUJER Y MIS AMIGOS ALE Y JUSTO ME MATO PERO DE VERDAD gracias DIOS X ESTOS MOMENTOS UNICOS
The way he plays with time between those hits and knows exactly where to come in is astronomical.
True, I used to tell my students, "Drums are not just about what and when to play, but what and when NOT to play." I.e. the power of the rest.
Zappa only hired the best
vinnie is unbelievable he plays phrases & notes that are still not invented yet he is awesome
Vinnie is what drumming is all about. A class, top notch, much respect 🙏
Such a creative voice. He never sounds like he is pulling out a chop. Always sounds inspired , creative, unique and taking chances.
a beautiful freak of nature...................WE ALL LOVE VINNIE!

Simply the best drummer today!
Vinnie; The perfect balance of chops and musicality!
I am addicted geez, I have spent some times with Vinnie and have to say every moment was a great privilege .. probably the greatest living drummer .. so far beyond mortals like me
I’ve been playing since I was nine years old, but he plays an instrument with which I am not familiar
Its called a drumset! Batería en español!
I honestly think the guy was joking. Context like this often gets lost in internet text chatter... :P ;)
EL GRAN VINNIE GRABÓ EN EL AÑO 2002 CON ARJONA Y EN EL 2004 CON MEGADETH. ES DE OTRO PLANETA.
Most solid chops on the planet!
El mejor baterista del mundo... Vinnie Colaiuta...
Every time I see and hear Vinnie play, I want to practice more. But all the practice in the world likely doesn’t even slightly close the considerable talent gap that exists between us. Vinnie is the drum god, and I have to accept that there’s a god-given element to it, too. He’s got it, I don’t.
Dude, Vinnie is Vinnie, i agree. But i swear that if you practice hard everyday, you'll have a fuckin' beast level...
Vinnie is my G. A. O. T no one plays or will ever play like him!! There's amazing drummers out there, he just happens to be my favourite... For obvious reasons 🤟😎💜🤍

Vinnie ❤is improvisation ,it goes on the wings of music, it doesn't stop at the notes!! Its not what you except!!
Vinnies time sense is just insanity. Oh, and he has pretty good hands too. That snare is just a gunshot.
That´s why I love "Joe´s garage" by Zappa.
He is one of my favorites!
Incredible technique and sound! Vinnie rules
I love it!...Even a guy like Vinnie is stoked at the end of the tune!!!:)
Love this.Vinnie was with FZ for years.
he's thrilling, the highest compliment I can think of!
Those ludwigs sound incredible!
BEAST!1 MY #1
Great footage, thanks so much for posting!
His side snare was off as he looks surprised
Insane is all you can say about this youngfella
no other drummer makes me feel like vinnie
A master of the instrument. These Ludwigs sound so much better than his Yamaha kit.
can't understand!! why ther's peolple not appreciating this magnificent effort by vinni,, and not only video all youtube has dislikers i dont know why... maybe ther taste is better than perfect,, shame

Vinnie is awesome.

"I mean Vinnie to me is proof that aliens have fathered children on this planet" - Lee Sklar
I agree with Mr. Sklar...
And this comes from a guy that have played with Billy Cobham so it really matters as compliment.
Best drummer that ever lived.
I don't care what anyone says, I think Vinnie is pretty good.
A bit of an understatement but he's fucking brilliant
Pretty good is a statement that belies quite a bit of ignorance. Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the most amazing contemporary drummers of the 20th century. Period. Where have you been?
Let's put it this way, Vinnie has something to teach every single drumkit player. Even the best of the best can learn something from him.
I mean, who would say otherwise
Saying that Vinnie went from Gadd-to-buddy-to-unique is not anything like how it went. Vinnie was also heavily influenced by Tony Williams in his early years, and Jeff Porcaro during the dawn of his career, and probably hundreds more drummers and musicians... AWESOME!!!! THE BEST!!!
Vinnie's Always ON, Awake!
Long live vinnie! RIP drummers:(

Beautiful sticking control
Tremendo!
Unbelievable! How did you get such great sound on this? Thanks for the amazing post!!!
His playing with Herbie is his best ...
It shows more than any other how he's really a jazz drummer ...
He wouldn't say it ...
But on the level of Tony Williams ...
Extraordinário.

highest level
" Well,Travis Barker fans,--- any questions for the master to answer??"
Hahaha...
Greg Peller ... Good!!!!!
Lol
Travis has more than proved himself, I'll bet Vinnie likes his playing.
I think Vinnie would suck to play Blink-182 music. And Travis would sound bad when playing Sting.
Vinnie is Great:))))
I have an eye for talent and I think Vinnie might have what it takes.
bravissimo!
un grande Colaiuta
QUE BESTIAAAAAA
GOSH, HERBIE! Learn to get those kicks!
Lol herbie is always fucking it up badly.
VINNIE BADASS
Back to the drawing board for me!!! Holy cow!!!!

Genius
took a long time to realise this is the song Actual Proof.
I'm tempted to take up the drums just for the physical workout.
