    The Pantera shows in the early nineties at The Stone in San Francisco will always be some of my top lifetime shows watching Dime rip ten feet from your face and stage diving. It was god damn electric.
    RIP Abbott brothers🤙🏼

    I saw Pantera and Slayer at Aftershock this year in Sacramento. They were both extremly awesome. I have seen older vids of the real Pantera on youtube and the show this year sounded a lot better. This would be because of Phil's voice. His voice was much better at Aftershock. Slayer sounded amazing, Tom's voice really has held up well.

    Good call on going with Mark. I saw Kerry and his band opening for Mastodon and Lamb of God, they exceed my expectations and bought the CD right away. He's got a good band together and I don't think Phil would have fit in as well as Mark or the rest for that matter.

    I don't care for the whole "rock star" BS thing from kerry king with his "all-star lineup". This is no different on my thoughts about post-And Justice For All "Metallica". Thrash was never meant to be arena rock. It was best when it was an underground style played at clubs. I stopped going to gigs a long time ago for shared reasons. I'll leave it at that because feathers will get ruffled. Anyway, I'll continue to love Slayer from Show No Mercy to South Of Heaven. I saw them on their Seasons In The Abyss tour, but didn't care too much for that album. AND I didn't care for anything after that. Same thing with Metallica. I liked them up until AJFA. After that, in my opinion, they were garbage.

      @@VanWailen Sorry man, it's cool. I took your comment the wrong way I guess. But if I may add, at least in my opinion and in my audio intake of these bands, many times bands have a certain shelf life of their creativity in their songwriting. Again to me, Slayer's first 4 albums were it. Metallica: same thing, the first 4 albums. Venom: Welcome To Hell through Possessed, against first 4 albums (and ALL their singles they released between this time frame: Warhead, Manitou, Nightmare; etc. ) rocked. Then strangely enough, they just weren't the same anymore. Either they lost their songwriting edge, probably due to age, or due to having more wealth and fame, OR purposely trying to "grow as musicians by trying out new styles, but instead end up shooting themselves in the foot. who knows? But when I heard Slayer's or Metallica's later albums (several times), I did not like them at all. Do I think they suck? No. Do I think they're uninspired and boring. Yep. But again I've always said certain genres of rock is a young man's game. Age happens naturally, we can't stop it, and it changes things. And I wasn't old when Seasons In The Abyss or Divine Intervention came out. I was still young. So it wasn't that my ears got "old". This is just my take of many of these bands' releases. I have my opinions of why many people still go to see these bands that are waaay past their prime in arenas now. But I'll end it at that. Cheers.

      I don't agree with that. Repentless sounds like a bunch of rejected songs from From Hell I Arise. I've been undecided on FHIR for awhile, but I think I'll pass. Repentless was a 5/10 album, and his solo album seems like a 6/10.

  • @Gregbaltzer
    @Gregbaltzer День назад +2

    You might as well call Repentless the first Kerry King solo album featuring Tom Araya on vocals, because it wasn't a band effort. There are artist then there are musicians. Kerry is a musician who you'll never get anything different from. Jeff was the artist willing to try new things. A new band is the perfect time to try something new and he painted himself into a corner already. I have no interest in any new Kerry King or K.K. Downing music.

    • @VanWailen
      @VanWailen 15 часов назад

      You’re giving Jeff way too much credit. There’s absolutely nothing different about Jeff’s artistry that you could point to. King on the other hand pushed for the nu-metal sound on Diablo’s in musicas turd burger offering.

    • @Gregbaltzer
      @Gregbaltzer 14 часов назад

      @@VanWailen wow, you got that completely backwards. Jeff wrote most of D.I.M., Kerry had very little to do with that album and hates it. King hates Nu Metal, he openly criticised Machinehead for experimenting with Nu Metal, which started a beef between Kerry and Rob Flynn. And Kerry said he wasn't feeling inspired to write much music during that era because there was little metal he was into. He said after that album he took over quality control to make sure they never did that again. Kerry is the reason why all of Slayer's 2000s albums sound the same. Kerry even said stupid stuff like bands should stay within their genre. D.I.M. Is better then Repentless

    2 things come to mind in regards to Kerry King and his ego . First off the DVD version of the big 4 and in Bulgaria this guy peels off his shirt to show Kerry a back piece tattoo of him and when taking a picture Kerry says stay still so you can be in the picture and be famous like me . Douche move . Part 2 the documentary Get Trashed they ask everyone who's in it to state your name and your band ,so they get to Kerry and he says why do I have 5:57 to say my name everyone already knows who I am. Douchey again. If Kerry fell off his ego he might burn up during re- entry.
