    He does a good job of describing the various accessories. Not too keen on his recommendations or assigned virtues. I have all of the accessories he mentions,l so I speak from real experience. The waist level finder is a throw back to TLRs and old Hasselblad finders. They are not convenient, and neither is this one on the 67. If you are really into the idea, instead get a technical or "chimney" finder. It works the same, but is rigid,and has far better optics, which makes focusing easy. The flip up prism finder magnifier is okay if you need it, but the flipping up and down is a pain in the ass, so after a few tries, it will go back in the box. The 3-D after-market hand grip is a God-sent. Can't believe I went 35 years without one. The 35mm "panorama" adapter kit is worthless; you'll use it once for the novelty, then put in the box with the prism magnifier.

    The wooden grip together with a lens quick focus ring provides for perfect handling. It's just not the traditional way to focus. Without the quick focus ring you are right that it just gets int he way.
    To many 67 users have not figured out that the two accessories are designed to work together.

    • @SathyaPeacock
      @SathyaPeacock  2 года назад

      @@jsteinberg48 Hey Jeffrey, Knur can correct me here - but I believe it's just called an M65 lens adapter thread mount. Essentially you need an M65 to P67 adapter, an M65 helicoid that mounts to the adapter, then a lens adapter thread mount (this depends on the size of the projector lens you want to use), then the projector lens itself.

    When I bought my Pentax 67 it came with this strap. While it is definitely quite comfortable, I did notice it does do damage to the strap lugs on the camera. It slowly shaves away the brass as it moves around. Not huge deal to some people but I found it to be a deal breaker for me personally

    Hi. The 3d printed handle can be cut down and attached to a piece of wood of your choice to make a wooden handle. Some skill required but looks 10x better than the plastic. It's not as attractive up close as a custom made piece but it is more than passable, requires far less skill and costs way less than a fancy one! And if u have a mate into woodwork then the job is a doddle. Walnut/Huon Pine/ Jarrah/ Mahogany/ etc etc.

    Hi thank you for the video. Quick question, does the 3d printed grip take one side of the lugs, where one end of the strap would connect to?

    • @SathyaPeacock
      @SathyaPeacock  2 года назад +1

      Hi, with this grip and most available in the market yes. So if this grip is attached to one side, the straps would have to be attached in portrait orientation with the other two lugs available on the other side if that makes sense? I did see some grips that connect to the 1/4 thread tripod mount at the bottom of the camera and only use one of the strap lugs but it increases the bulkiness of this already bulky camera quite a bit but that’s another option. Thanks for the question!

    • @SathyaPeacock
      @SathyaPeacock  Год назад

      Hey Jan, thanks for watching. while I don’t have personal experience with these kind of grips, Cameradactyl offers a 3D printed grip that makes use of the quarter inch thread at the bottom of the camera to attach the grip and appears to allow the top lug for straps. This does make the camera bulkier. And this doesn’t seem to fit 67ii - www.cameradactyl.com/buttergrip/pentax67

    So you purchased a" waist level view finder" and sold the hand crafted wooden grip ?? This is where you lost me . I purchased my first 67 in 1993 and I now own 3 . My advice to you is Learn the cameras intricacies , shoot with it more than a hand full of times before you make another Video . #1 the internal light meter works just as well or better than any external meter for normal exposures ,long exposures different story ..#2 Waist level view finder is a waste of money, it's impractical and there's never a good reason to use it with a "6x7", use that money to buy lenses . #3 the 105 f2.4 is an amazing lens but overrated . Get the 150 f2.8 its a much better lens for portraits and easier to focus .#4 Any black rapid strap will solve all of your carrying/budgetary needs. And lastly the only other accessory you need is Film .. HP5 , Tri-x , cinistill 800t and any of the Portras and Lomo's . And to all the shooters .. This world needs you now more than ever Defend the craft.

      Odd lens recommendations here. The 105mm was a $175 lens, now hyped up to $700+. Anyone plunging for one in today's market is just nuts. It has no "secret sauce". On technical points (resolution, contrast, vignetting, etc.), it is poorest normal focal length lens Pentax made for the system, although it is a good average quality lens. The 150mm is another lens which, like the 105mm, dates from the late 1960s. When Pentax went though its lineup of 67 lenses in the 1970s to improve or replace many, the 150mm was replaced by the 165mm 2.8, which is much improved and costs little or no more these days.

      I'm a big fan of the waist level chimney with the big magnification factor as I've used a lot of modified/adapted/tilted lenses and critical focus with the TTL prism wasn't as easy. So I'd say there are some legit use cases for ditching the prism finders (I never had any issues with exposure while metering with the prism though). The left-hand wooden grip is the most useless accessory for a camera that I've ever had a chance to work with (unless you need the cold shoe mount for flash). It makes the camera more bulky and awkward and helps with absolutely ZERO ergonomic issues the camera already has. A custom right-hand grip on the other hand helps a lot, especially if you buy a hand crafted wooden one. The 105/2.4 is a nice lens, but almost everyone forgets that it's very easy to adapt lenses to a P67 and expand on availability of portrait lenses. I also disagree about the 150/2.8, although it's a great lens, I dislike the focal length forcing you to move away from the subject. I shoot portraits and I like to be up close and personal with people, so 80-110mm is the range I stick with.
