Found your channel, your hands on experience is much appreciated. Thank you. what info can you ad regarding this info: "If an intensifier tube is exposed to daylight or to a flash of bright light at night while it is on, it may become damaged or burn out. To prevent this, some night vision products incorporate Bright Source Protection (BSP), a feature that turns the photocathode voltage off when it is exposed to bright light."
Thanks! The bright source protection is pretty much a gimmick, is unreliable, and isn’t something I’d ever count on. For example, in daylight outdoors, a device equipped with BSP like a PVS-14 will turn off after about 10-30 seconds of exposure when the device is turned on. However, most indoor lighting or incoming daylight isn’t bright enough to trigger it. The sensor from my experience with multiple devices absolutely does not shut the device off when exposed to a bright light at night. I’ve tested it with 1000 lumen flashlights and it never turned off. Autogating does a better job of protecting tubes in mixed lighting conditions or around bright light sources.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION If I wanted to run a PVS-14 and a thermal, is the FLIR Breach the way to go? Could you please give me some recommendations on a Gen 3 PVS-14 and a good place to make my purchases? I value your recommendations with all your hands on experience.
@@mrwongus It depends on your budget. The Breach is around $2,400 and the next step up would be the Iray MH25 at $4,000+. The MH25 has a lot more performance than the Breach but IMO the Breach works great for about up to 75 yards. As for the PVS-14, same deal, it depends on your budget. You can get a lower cost -14 with an Elbit thin filmed XLSH tube in it, green or white phosphor for around $2,500. L3Harris Unfilmed WP is anywhere from $3,300-to-over $4,000. If you're doing a thermal/NV setup like this IMO you can get away with an average performance tube in the PVS-14 since you'll be relying on the thermal to scan/spot and the -14 to navigate and/or target with an IR laser/illuminator. Once you turn on the illuminator, a lower performing tube will work as good as a higher one. I recommend from experience with past purchases TNVC/Night Goggles & JRH Enterprises. They both are offering the PVS-14's with XLSH tubes for around $2,500 and the both sell the Breach. For an unfilmed WP PVS-14, I'd go TNVC because they get regular large shipments and seem to get very good specs from L3H. They also don't charge extra if you want them to hand select a higher spec tube. Their lead times can be long however.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION So the Iray MH25 plus a TNV/PVS-14 L3HARRIS GEN3 UN-FILMED WHITE PHOSPHOR I'm looking at about $9500 including the mounting hardware. That would put me at premium gear. Alternatively $6000 for the Flir Breach and a PVS-14's with XLSH tube including the mounting hardware. I am estimating $1000 for the mounting hardware. Slap it on a HardHeadVeteran bump helmet, I should be good to go. Where do you recommend I pick up a iray? is ultimatenightvision.com reputable?
5.2ounces are about 147gramms. So about 8AA batteries would be needed as counterweight to offset it. Did you put a magnet to the screws? If they are steel, you could get titanium screws to save a bit of weight. For less important screws you might be able to get away with aluminium screws.
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION This is an old video but I was just wondering if you knew about Kommando store's panoramic goggles and if you planned to buy them. I ended up selling my basically new DTNVG and going back to my bridged 14, and I used the money to order those panos. Its a two month wait time (because they order the housings from china) but IMO its worth it vs dedicated duals.
timely video:was actually looking at swapping from the d14 to this kvc bridge for a second set of wp tubes since the kclips allow me to swap in the ptq and has the adjustable PD. I was going to ask where the heck did you order this set, since everyone is out of stock or asking msrp+ but I see you wrote it was sourced used. darn... either way, thanks for the video. anyone know if tnvc will have any discount codes this month for a back order?
Yeah, I got super lucky finding them used. Best bet right now is probably ordering on back order. I’d hit up TNVC about discounts. I don’t know what the got going for discounts. I do know they offer discounts to AR15.com forum members since they are a site sponsor.
I have 2 agm mum-14a's I have been unable to find any mounting adapters. The mod armory mum adapters, jdapt plate don't work because they're to narrow. Are you aware of anything that would work?
Possibly if you can machine an adapter to attach a mini-rail to it. If you can, then you could also use other bridges like the Rayvn Rail or Panobridge (with the Panobridge mini-rail adapter).
@@NITEWALKER-NIGHTVISION yeah I wonder if it uses the same piece as the mum rails and or kclips stuff I need to have someone who's got the item try and put a kClip on it or dovetail adapter of some sort and see
The D-14 with the dovetail adapter (basically their K clip) didn't work for me. The dedicated Breach arm may be better but I can't say for sure since I haven't used it. It's a lot more money but it's a safer bet to go with the KVC with OSS & K clip or the Wilcox since they both offer more adjustments than the D-14. I talk about it in the previous video before I was able to get them to work together: ruclips.net/video/DP2fzKR7uRY/видео.html
The Wilcox binocular bridge is a close second. Unfortunately, there isn't another bridge at this moment that offers the same type of adjustability as the KVC.

Oh man the sticker shock of the KAC pricing! But they're worth it, especially when it comes to quality and features. At first I was looking at the cheaper options for bridges. I researched and noticed a pattern of people not being fully satisfied with them, and in the end buying a KAC bridge. So that sold me on the KAC being the one to buy.
Thanks for the review. I own one and still found it useful. Quality on this bridge is excellent. Clear amber lenses were also a good buy. Thank you.

WHAT PART NUMBERS DO I NEED TO ORDER FOR PVS 14 AND THE BREACH?
You need the KVC Universal Bridge 111793, OSS Shoe Set 111782, and K-Clips 111791. These are the KVC part numbers.
I think it’s a 1/4 threaded mount for tripod mounting
