Their names, ethnicity, language, culture and traditions are all Chinese. Their ancestors came from mainland China and not Europe. If those people in Taiwan hate China so much, they can emulate some of the Hong Kongers and take a one way ticket to America and leave the island for the Chinese. The reality is China would copy our tech and steal our tech if we let them manufacture it. We would be giving away billion of dollars of research and intellectual property and they would further the strength of the communist party and benefit their loyalist. China is currently spreading tons of anti-American propaganda and America needs to protect US company interests for the benefit of American citizens. As an American, I am not naïve to the fact that US companies and the US government benefit from my personal info for marketing and other B S but I emphatically say hell no to China having access to my info. and they do the same by protecting their interest. Now that the importance of AI is becoming realized the race is on. Nvidia thought it was the rabbit and only turtles were in the race. Wrong! Nvidia has found that their pricing attracted competitors near and wide. Not only is Huawei in the race, but Tencent, Alibaba, and unknown Chinese dark horses are starting to raise their heads. Even AMD and Intel are suggesting that they too have or will have horses in the race. This decade will certainly focus on semiconductors and China will rise as the main suppliers, especially dominated by legacy chips. The crown jewels are with AI and where that leads is anyone's guess today. Performance and price will guide the sector, so Chinese companies have a fair chance with several horses in the race. China is the inside bet because it has the government on its side. US semiconductor companies have one hand tied behind their back by their government so their ability to capture the world market is handicapped. My hunch is that China will win the AI race because it has the technical depth, a huge database to draw from, and a strong government backing both in funding and as a customer. The US is making a strategic mistake by not collaborating seeking a winner take all and in that vein, China will take it all.

Where are U.S. chip manufacturers going to replace China's raw material supply chains? How do you manufacture chips without raw materials?
The U.S. relies on China for approximately 90% of its gallium supply.
The U.S. sources around 50-60% of its germanium from China.
The U.S. depends on China for 70-80% of its antimony needs.
The U.S. relies on China for 60-70% of its graphite supply.
The U.S. sources around 30-40% of its silicon materials from China.
The U.S. depends on China for 85-90% of its tungsten supply.
The U.S. sources 80% of its bismuth from China.
The U.S. imports about 80% of its other related rare earths from China.

Secondly, you're absolutely right that this will increase the cost of chip manufacturing, which will, in turn, drive up chip market prices. The world's earliest NPU was produced by Huawei. Huawei was truly the world's number one when it released the Ascend 910, and then the United States began imposing sanctions.
What the United States does in science and technology is the same as what it does in the Olympics. Competition is nothing more than seeking all kinds of unfair competition, using hegemony and overdrafting its own credibility.
