I love your podcasts but this episode was a slog. The rules were unclear, very little prep was done beforehand, Greg looked bored, and you ended up with 169 games and then ended the deliberation lol. I'm thankful to have something to listen to over the break, but you shouldn't force it like this. Just my two cents.

I have to agree with this. To each his own, but the thing about making these tops is essentially to be able to choose only the very best, and not just say any game without a set of rules... I think Giantbomb nailed the "Top" format in their GOTY podcasts.
Call Of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare redefined the FPS genre - it definitely is one of the best games of all time

Halo 3 not being under 360 is criminal

I'd put the first game on there because of its unexpectedly horrifying opening and its grittiness and creepiness and dark humour but not 2 or 3. Considering how arcadey Kinda Funny sometimes are in their tastes, I imagine part 3 would have the best chance with them.
Am I the only one genuinely frustrated by the unorganized sloppiness of this episode?

KingLos halo 3 and odst sucked reach was cool and 4 was forgettable. Halo 1 and 2 were the classic games and that's all the halo mentions that needed to be mentioned

while most people are mad that they are making the list on the go, I actually found it more entertaining to see this banter back and forth. It's a fun thing to watch and I want to see them do the same for future lists like this. It's what I think they are better at when they argue about which games deserve the spot.

I know the podcast was getting a little long, but I really wish there would have been some deliberation to try and get the list down to a hundred games. The conversations regarding which games to cut vs. others are always super interesting.

I'm more interested in the modern 100 games but hearing these games reminded me of the time i was playing some of those games. Like Duck Hunt lol I remeber holding the toy gun point blank to the screen and still missing. Fun times.
However i don't see myself going back to these.

Never hear video game pundits talk about some of my favorite games which are definitely less popular in the grand scheme of things...so I was very happy to see that a Prince of Persia game made the list and that Golden Sun at least got a shout out and an anecdotal story from Colin!
Driver for PS1 - Survival mode San Francisco. Holy Mother of God that was some of the most fun I had on my PS1.
Also no brainage to the list? List full of nostalgia. Wonderful
No Suikoden 2, Vagrant Story, Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears, Lufia 2, Secret of Mana, Dragon Quest VII or VIII, Shin Megami Tensei, or Lunar Eternal Blue. I thought Colin was a jRPG fan? At least he got Wild ARMS on there, which has the best intro of any video game ever.
Super solid list here seriously bought half of those just recently on the PSN store... Also what about Grandia 1 and Grandia 2?
Grandia 2 I think is the only one that has aged well, and the music is pretty amazing in that game. Grandia 3 is good, I would shout out that game.
Eh, out of those you listed only Secret of Mana is a definite top 100. Suikoden 2 comes close. I would actively argue to keep Xenogears, Lufia 2, and Valkyrie profile off. Those are all good games, probably make a top 100 RPGs list. I do like Wild Arms more than any of them (besides Secret of Mana).

If you want a tennis game, Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast is easily the best.

Xenoblade is one of the best RPGs of that generation, it deserves a spot.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is my favorite game of all time. You are my favorite youtubers and gaming personalities of all time. My heart is broken.
Not only is Flower on there while Dark Souls isn't, but it just felt overall very half baked. At least wittle it down to 100 next week.

I'm 6 years late to seeing this, but not having Banjo Kazooie while having 20 different MegaMan and Castlevania games is blasphemous 😭
Also, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is the definitive version of that game, imo

Custom Robo I think is a great contender, but I'm not sure if it would actually make the list or if it's just a shoutout. A Wave Race has to make the list however.
Nothing will ever top Metal Gear Solid for me. Best game ever.

Minish Cap is one of my favorite Zelda games. The DS ones aren't great, but I can't see a case for Minish Cap being considered "the worst".

I can't believe yall forgot about folklore for ps3 :O I will stand by that game till I die! there wasn't very many cut scenes but the ones they did have looked amazing on the ps3. for being the first game I played on ps3 I was amazed by how it looked. and In my opinion they made pretty good use of the sixxaxis controls :) 9/10 for me
Can someone please tell me what this list is. Is it most influential, best, favorite, or popular because it's not really clear. They keep putting okay games they liked and then putting on games they don't love but are super important

Arcade lacked Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Ninja Baseball Bat Man, Violent Storm, Alien vs Predator, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Cliffhanger: Edward Randy, Battletoads (very different from console), Rastan Saga, Joe & Mac, Willow... and this is just the beginning of the list, AND I've excluded the superior arcade versions of games you guys already mentioned as console ports. Hell, the way I see it, you could make an entire list just for arcade games to be honest.
Also shout out to to Kevin. He didn't make my top host list, but shout out. Chill out Colin it's just a shout out.
Sounds like you guys didn't know about a lot of good Saturn and Dreamcast games. And Crash Team racing over Diddy Kong or Mario 64 is insane.

Fiery Muffin Battlefront 2 is the reason I bought a ps2. I still think about how much fun I had with that game.

I'm curious, which version of Twilight Princess? I would stand by the Wii Version but there's people who don't like wii controls and prefer the GC version

Everything on the SNES was by default better than the Genesis version. Even Mortal Kombat with the grey blood.
Dreamcast: Shenmue 1 & 2, Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Set Radio, SoulCaliber, Crazy Taxi, Headhunter, Sega GT
Eh, SoulCalibur should definitely be in a top 100, along with Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star Online. Maybe Jet Set Radio and Shenmue 1 just for it's innovations. None of those other games you listed even come close. Crazy Taxi is a fun time for a couple of hours, it's not making any greatest games of all time list. Sonic games are trash.
I'm an hour in and I don't know if you change up the rule set later but I would have really liked it if you had limited the amount of games in each franchise to one, two maybe three at the most.
I get that all the megaman games are great but I don't think it's necessary to put all of them on the list. You could eliminate all of them except 2, & 3 (which are the best). Mario, Megaman, Castlevania & FF take up like 15% of the list.
Colin said it himself and it's obvious that he has a NES bias and I don't think that gives a fair shake to all the other consoles and it almost feels like he's dominating the list, clearly a lot of these games Greg or Tim did not play and wouldn't stand by, but I guess you'll have that, these three like very different games. I just hope at the end the list reflects all of Kinda Funny and not just Colin, which is what it feels like right now.

I think people act like Pokemon Colosseum and DX Gale of Darkness don't exist, because they aren't what we asked for. We wanted a fully realized 3D version of Red and Blue or Gold and Silver on consoles. Instead we got Pokemon Snap, Stadium, and eventually the biggest slaps in the face Colosseum, and DX Gale of Darkness. The request was simple, Pokemon Snap and Stadium were good games, but were only steps towards what we really wanted. Then Nintendo overshot what we wanted and over complicated the request fans had been making for years.
I would have put more Mega Man games.

Bayonetta on 360 was fine but in PS3 sucks... I would put Bayo 2 for WiiU. Definitely one of the best exclusives in that console

You could make the top 100 list and franchises or ones that are super good count as 1. Like if 3 games they count as 1.
These list do seem to need clearly defined rules because people start swapping from favourite games to influential to most important etc. Like how your counting Galaga. Yeah it's great and I have it everywhere but there are so many other games I would rather play so you need to decide on criteria. Maybe you need Seperate lists like most important, most influential, your favourites or fun etc.
It's ones that they like that they also think many other people could play today and have a good time. So not most important or most influential , as those can sometimes badly age, and not necessarily their personal favourites as I'm guessing they know that 'many people' won't necessarily like really weird stuff. There's probably a bit of them wanting to give a bit of gaming education in some of these games but it must still be enjoyable today.
I love the gamecube love, my first home console, but why no love for rouge squadron and the like, not even a shout out. Oh and hyrdo thunder for arcade, shit's legit.

I was listening via Podcast when you were going over 360/PS3, did I miss Red Dead and Platinum Games games? Odin Sphere should remain on the list, and in addition Persona 4. Good watch though. stay up!
I think Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden both deserve to be on the list.
id say a sims type game should be in and i think twilight princess and diffrent other games shouldve been in

MGS3 is the worst in the series??! Wow. I consider 2 to be the worst in the series. 3 may actually be my favorite game of all time. But to each their own. Also sad to see FF9 on the list over FF8. Also Silent Hill for PS1 was an iconic masterpiece of survival horror. This is a good list overall though. Love your guys podcast.
In many ways I find 3 to be the best in the series, it was fantastic.
