This video will show you, how i refilled R134a refrigerant in my car. I also used AC manifold gauge to check High and Low pressures, for any leaks.

I have the same car, year and model. One day out of the blue, the AC stopped cooling altogether.. not diminished but just stopped... My father in law replenished the coolant and I left the garage and the air was cold, as I drove around the corner it blew hot air again... any ideas??? I've been driving my car for 6 years with no AC because I'm afraid it will be too expensive and given the age of the car... but I can't afford to get into a new loan payment so this one is staying, besides the AC I love my car! Any idea as to what will it cost to fix it?

      Hi,
Thank you for watching my video and thanks for your question. I am not an AC expert or a mechanic. I understand the situation you are in, Please see my feedback.
I would take it slow and learn, after that check one component or task at a time.
      Good luck,
      1. Check for any possible leaks in the AC system, use a AC UV DYE and then inspect the entire AC system. Fix if you have any leaks.
      2. If no leaks then it could be your AC compressor, you might need a new one, usually AC compressor are $75-85. Sometime you can find even cheaper from the junk yards.
      3. You will need to know how to discharge and refill R134. (“Chrisfix” has a great video on how to refill or recharge your AC” I think it will help you with the understanding of what is involved.
      4. You might need to also inspect AC expansion valve, and AC receiver drier.
      5. Inspect if your AC clutch engages, and check if all AC control relay and AC switch inside the car.

if I kick the floor of my car near the center console or hit a bump sometimes it will start working but then lock up again later.

mmm is this done at a auto mechanic? Or did you do this on your own? I have a Lancer es 2008 and The AC is blowing warm air. I went to a mechanic but they just noticed that the condenser had some dents at the bottom of it. Would that promote leaks? I'd like to add in freon but am unsure how to go about this the cheapest rout that works without having to replace any parts or have to vacuum the pipes...please help.

sorry for a late reply, usually AC condenser is located inside the car, and it can only be inspected once the dashboard and hot/cold air box is removed. I would use a AC dye to try to inspect the for the leaks or take it to someone who can guarantee that the AC freon will not leak. Prior to that i would inspect the AC clutch, AC control relay and AC switch it self. Good Luck and thank for watching my video.

check you AC thermostat wiring, AC relay control and AC switch inside your car. test one by one and replace accordingly.
      Thanks for watching my video.
