Recently started again at 44 after some 25 years. It's so addictive. Seems like a lot of us OGs from the 80s and 90s are picking it up again 🙂

I’m going through a divorce right now and found my Jason Jesse Neptune reissue my wife bought me as a gift 10 years ago.
I love the art and nostalgia as that was one of my first boards at 12 years old. It’ll remain a walk hanger but inspired me to get skating again. As well as your comment. I’m a 44 year old construction worker.

I just started again at 48....picked the Andy Andersom 9.13 board to start and also bought a 8.5 Chris Cole.....im fucking loving it... all I want is consistent Ollie's and kick flips..nor asking much. I split my femur in half and had to have a rod in my leg for a year when I was 13 skating my first and LAST half pipe and haven't been on a board since...now I've got the itch since my 13 yr old daughter got into it...strictly street fore..NO ramps lol

After the intro I really wasn't expecting you to throw down so many tricks and they were clean! You are too modest, you really need to give yourself a pat on the back , you probably learned more in a couple years than I did in 5.

Dude! I love this video. I skateboarded religiously from the age of 9 until I was 20. I loved everything about it. I got married had kids and skateboarding became a past time. I have always still thought about it constantly. I have always had dreams about. I am always watching all the new videos that come out. I have always truly missed it. I am now 38 years old and you have inspired me to get back on the board and let the good times roll! I bought a complete and I can't beleive how much I have forgotten! I can still Ollie and kick flip and ride and all the easy stuff. However, it is soooo much fun to feel this feeling again. Challenging myself to re-learn all the old tricks with these old bones is so rewarding. Thank you so much for the final push to get me back on the board. You are the man!

I just put together a Powell Peralta re-issue of my board back in the 80's. Took my kids to the sporting goods store to buy them protective gear for their roller skates and I saw the skateboards there and I hopped on one and it all came back! Straight away, I we went to the skateboard shop and saw my old baby look-a-like there and ordered it up right then. So amped to get back into this at 42. Just hoping my sciatica, weathered knees and pained flat feet dont get in my way too much. LOL! If anything, it'll be nice crusing the boardwalks again.

I've been out 20 years before picking it back up, I wear most of the same padding, do many of the same tricks, sans big spins and bs 5050s. Good on you man. It was only four years. But my lifestyle became sedentary since COVID.
I work sitting on a desk 8 hours a day. Drive an hour to go to work and another one to go home.
I started running and doing small skate sessions again and OMG i found out that i lost all my physical ability.
Breathing hardly because of smoking and my body was in constant pain.

I grew up watching Rodney Mullen and Jeff Kendall, Natas Kaupas etc. Balance still there, although not flawless, but not compete beginner. Ollie worked after a couple of hrs but only like 5" high.😅 Hope to be Ollie-ing like you soon again. Guess i don't see myself doing any 360 flips any time soon, but staying busy and ollie-ing some small stairs and curbs will be good enough when i get that. Keep skating!

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS VIDEO !
I am 35 and never was a "skateboarder". when i was young i would push around on one and bomb my neighborhood hill and ollie over small sticks / curbs and thats about as far as it went for me.
I got into sports ( football , basketball , track ) and didnt touch a board since.
Randomly i got this weird "itch" to want to learn.
so here i am watching videos and having a custom board made for me. ( not expecting much , other than some more scars / stories to tell haha )
its pleasing and easing to see more "seasoned" ppl getting back at it / still doing it.

Thank you for sharing as this is very encouraging. I was getting burnt out and nothing I have tried seems to help. I can honestly say that skating was one of those things in my past that made me very happy. I was fortunate to have friends who still skate and they encouraged me to try again. Now being 49, I was able to get my dream board reissue (Lucero) and really have no excuse not to try again. Skating saved me before and I am hoping that it will save me again. Wish me luck and hopefully it will be a long term thing.

No way! I live in Fuquay and just bought a new board after almost 20 years. I’ve been wanting to take my son to the Apex skatepark.

I started back a few months ago at 42 years old. Stopped about 15 years back and just wanted to get back into it. My kids are all a bit older now so I have some time to focus on skating again. Keep it up man!!

I’m 50 and I took off 15 years after my knee blew out. I’m running around skate park bowls dropping in on 5 ft minis. So much fun.
Lost my Ollie because my knee won’t take the shock but I’m having so much fun again. Keep it up dude !
Oh yea I’m riding 8.75 with 159,s dragon 58, or spitfire 56 depends how I’m feeling. My bowl board is a 9 inch but I’m 6,4 and size 12 shoe so there is that.
Anyway. Good luck don’t ever stop .

Just started skatin again 7 days ago after an 15-ish yr break. I'm 33, almost getting my Ollie back again. Freezing weather in PA hasn't helped, but my legs can't take much more then 45mins at a time right now. That's been the hardest part, being out of shape, leg shape etc. Appreciate these vids tho Def super encouraging

Awesome, good luck and have fun! I remember my legs being sore for 6 months straight, but eventually got past it.

I'm 45 this year and have been back into skating for just over 2 months. Ollies are coming back and a few other basic tricks. Thanks for this video, you have a nice smooth style and it's motivating to watch

Started again around 44. Foot came down too hard on the toes and I dislocated two of them. Had to have surgery. Surgery was unsuccessful and now I have two toes that are practically dead. Sucks. Best of luck to you. You are kicking ass.

Great video! I restarted after not skating since the late 80s. I got back after seeing my nieces' $20 skateboard. Just relearned how to ride at the moment. I'm a former freestyle skater, but I just moved to an area just blocks away from a skatepark. Street skating is very tempting at this moment as well

Nice video. I'm about to turn 45 and have been skating a lot in the last year. Now I don't know what I would do without skating for the mental and physical fitness. 👊

Thoroughly loved your video. I'm 41 and also took roughly a 20 year break, so I'm right there with you. I don't think I meant to not step on a board for so long...but time does fly away from you. I wish sometimes I could go kick my younger self in the ass, but I'll take kicking my current self in the ass as a 2nd place prize. I could tell skating puts a smile on your face, keep it up man.
