  • dtcuk.co/ In this video Shak talks about the difference between a minor mistake, a serious mistake and a dangerous mistake.
Firstly, it is important to understand that you can make up to 15 minor mistakes and still pass your driving test. However, if you would make one serious mistake or a dangerous mistake and then that would be a fail.
I’m going to give you a few examples of how minor mistake can easily turn into a serious mistake or even a dangerous one.
So, you are driving along in your driving test and the examiner has asked you to stop safely on the left. You’ve checked your centre mirror and you left mirror but you forgot and to signal. There is an oncoming vehicle. You would probably get a minor fault.
However, if there was a driver behind you and that driver had to swerve around you then that would become a serious fault.
Let me give you another example. If you stalled once during the driving test, that will be one minor fault. 10 minutes later, if you stalled again, that would be another minor fault. Then continue to drive normally without a problem. However, towards the end the test you stalled again. This would be your third minor fault stalling.
However, if you were to stall and then you panicked and stalled again and again. Those three Stallings would count as a serious fault. So remember is not just the fault but how you react to it.
I’m getting the final example now. You are on a dual carriageway and the examiner has asked you to turn right. You check centre mirror but you forgot to check the right-hand mirror and you have change Lane. However, they are approaching in that lane. The driving examiner will give you a minor fault.
Not take the same situation again and this time there is a vehicle approaching fast in the right-hand lane. The same mistake will result in a serious fault.
If we take the same situation once again but this time the vehicle is almost on your side and the great in the driving examiner has to grab the wheel to prevent you from hitting the car in the right-hand lane. This marked as a dangerous fault.
If you do end up making a mistake in your driving test, try to relax and continue in a safe manner. Do not be the judge, jury and executer. You may believe that you have made a serious fault. However, the decision belongs to the driving examiners.

Examiners should work by text book difference between minor and serious is discretionary and thus it is discriminatory. Someone can stall at a roundabout once, secure the car and still get a serious fault. Examiners need to work by text book so it is judged on a level playing field

I am used to check left and/or right mirror by just moving my eyes - my instructor calls it "ninja style". Is that OK? Does the examiner look at where my eyes point to?

Thank you for this. Do you know what the situation or criteria in relation to speed limits is on the driving test please? On one test a candidate misunderstood the difference between national on a motorway or dual carriageway with central reservation (70 mph) and on country roads and single carriageways (60 mph) and on a single carriageway the examiner had to mention the speed limit was 60 not 70 when they were reaching 66-70. This constituted a serious fault. However, on another test, though the candidate drove on a road which was a country road but had also recently become a residential area and there were no speed signs. The candidate kept under 30 mph while looking for a sign and the examiner said it was national speed limit at which point they accelerated to suitable speed and no fault at all was given and they passed. On both occasions the examiner had to tell the candidate about the speed limit but one was not marked down. Surely being too far under the speed limit (under 30 in a 60 zone) could be an issue. On my driving test I actually went over once or twice for a few seconds yet no fault at all was given.

I failed because of speed. I did ask the examiner what the speed a
should be and he didn't answer. I drove 36 as I thought most signs I saw were 40. No any accidents.. no signs of any danger.
One test earlier it was similar and I got one minor fault.

    • @dtc_uk
      @dtc_uk  7 лет назад +5

Turtlez(JollyBas) Hello, if you stalked and then moved of a few times without stalling and then stalked again, moved of Nicky a few times and stalked - it’s would be 3 minor faults.
However, if you make a fault 3 times without showing that you can do it properly then that would be marked as a serious fault. DTCUK
