That's what I love about their music, but I think that is why my wife doesn't like them. She just likes that classic rock-n-roll sound and Tool are anything but that!
It reminds me of the Doors - the producers at the time didn't like it or get it because they thought no one would listen to their stuff because you can't dance to it! 🤣

An interesting paradox happened when music streaming services were created.
Several bands like Tool took quite a while to work through the legalities of putting their music on these services, meanwhile the younger generation abandoned traditional “radio stations”. That opened this alternate reality where a 10-15 year generation of people straight up missed out on bands like Tool and Metallica almost entirely.
Now we’re seeing this RUclips influx of people like this young man being exposed to music many of us grew up on for the first time, some 20 years later, and being blown away.
I’ve been going down this long rabbit hole of finding more and more people reacting to Tool via RUclips and I just can’t stop lol.
I can’t hear Tool for the first time again, but in some weird way I’m reliving it through others. It’s like seeing your child take their first steps… over and over and over again!

June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. I see the new Tool album and think the cover art is bizarre yet cool. I toss on the headphones and listen to The Grudge as the album opener. I proceeded to stand there and listen to this whole song thinking it was the best fucking thing I ever heard. Their preceding Aenima album is great but this was just a whole different level of a different kind of awesomeness. I listened to the song 3 times since I couldn’t pause or rewind. I walked in late to my shift because of this song! After I made enough money in tips, I ran over to the store to buy it so it couldn’t sell out. I couldn’t stop listening to it over and over. One of the best songs ever in my humble opinion and I love watching others react to it imagining myself the first time I heard it in that FYE store in 2001. Great reaction!

The music is pretty much written and recorded, meticulously and then MJK writes lyrics and sings as though he's another instrument...thus, then he sings live in the back, with the drums... he really sings with the drums. 4 of the best at what they do. Don’t let people crap on you about how you run your videos because at the end of the day it is your channel and you should be allowed to pause whenever you want and I realize that There are some people that just want to enjoy the music, but with bands like tool, there are things that you can’t keep to yourself because there’s so much talent and raw power going on there. Something has to be said about it and if you were to gather up all your thoughts and then re-record the end, it’s not really a genuine reaction because you’ve had time to think about it.. I am just happy that you’re enjoying tool as much as I have and still do and I’m also glad that you’re experiencing it for the first time because it makes me remember when I experienced it for the first time and how I felt getting to live vicariously through someone else looking at it from their perspective is really what these videos are all about for me.

Going to see them next month and can’t wait. I have been a fan since the mid 90s but have really dove deep into all of their stuff over the last few years. You can’t help but to smile when you are able to keep up with all the time changes and crazy polyrhythms. But, sometimes it is nice to turn the music theory brain off and just enjoy the big picture.

Hey bro, I hadn't listened to this song since like forever and that just put me down on my knees looking up and wondering why? and felt like I haven't heard it enough, thanks for that reaction, it was fire.
Also I wanted to suggest another great band, "DREAM THEATER", just like "TOOL", the complexity in their songs is overwhelming, not saying they play the same style, never, but complexity is these band's just another regular activity and just like Tool, too complex, give it a try, start with "This Dying Soul" you won't regret it! I'm totally confident in that, good luck with that, you'll thank me sometime

How can that not be the greatest rock song ever. Yes I believe that's the first time u hearing that song, I just discovered them a little while back. They just started streaming their songs a few years back, I mean since 1990 they didn't do many interviews, hardly no radio play, because of length and some lyrics in songs, but thank goodness for utube, we now know their genius.

Love this tune. Bill Hicks the comedian. He pushed beautiful material of oneness, love and anti-establishment. but he was a man who didn't love himself, he was self destructive and held his grudge for letterman like a crown. (Letterman removed his material showing on the letterman show because it was 'too edgy' for the times. And Bill would rather die than water himself down and go back on letterman, even though it would have made him more successful and pushed his message further). Bill was a friend of Maynard's and died of Cancer (heavy smoker). They dedicated the album AENIMA to him

Let him do the Fear Inoculum album last, I think he needs to move through all the previous albums first. FI is the maturation of all that came before.
