  • I got a rare opportunity to go to see Gordon Lightfoot in concert. You guys are in for a bit of a treat. Gordon Lightfoot started out 68 years ago writing and recording songs like “Early Morning Rain, Sundown, Carefree Highway, If You Could Read My Mind, Rainy day people, The Canadian Railroad Trilogy, Ribbon of Darkness, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and more.” And here he was 68 years later, still playing some of those songs and doing 70-85 shows a year. But more recently, Gordon has released his newest and most recent album called “Solo” in 2021. As a matter fact, what makes this moment, so rare is that he hasn’t came to Calgary so often and believe it or not this was my first time seeing Gordon Lightfoot in concert, and I didn't think of it at the time but it seemed like was to be a once in a lifetime moment for me. But as I said before, he was going to be always doing 70-85 shows a year. Not to mention that he is still going through health issues from all those cigarettes that he smoked throughout his life. Unfortunately, he passed away in May 2023, but his music does still lives on and his legacy is an example of Canadian History that will be passed on to many future generations. Remeber to stay well and healthy and safe.
