    I am FLOORED by the result - and how you were able to successfully do it! Whenever those thick layers of fabric were going through the sewing machine, I admit I was afraid to see the needle break in half (and seeing the machine moving back and forth wasn't helping with that). Absolutely be proud of what you did, this was a major project and the coat is simply wonderful

    Absolutely darling coat! I made a long robe from a machine quilted blanket. The sleeves are super long so I can unroll them to warm my hands. Recently the long sleeves became useful as oven mits. LOL I'm almost sad to see summer coming.

    For fabric this thick, I would recommend a walking foot! quilters usually go through so many layers so walking foot is great for feeing fabric thru your machine evenly

    • @amierichan1428
      @amierichan1428 Год назад

      Agree with The Aussie Family-- a walking foot reduces even further the space between the presser foot and the fabric. There are machines which allow you to raise the presser foot before beginning to sew, such as the Husqvarna Vikings and the Janomes.

    I haven't even finished watching yet but just wanted to pause and comment... this is by far my favourite thing you've ever made!! I almost felt a bit emotional watching it- stuff like this is why it's so rewarding to sew. The only time you'd ever see a coat this beautiful, original and well made would be of it was made by a designer for hundreds of pounds. Clothes like this are usually way out of most people's reach, but if you can see then you can have almost any type of clothing you like an i love it so much. Honestly this is so so lovely and congratulations on now having an amazing coat!!! Im horrendously jealous 😅
