The BBSHD is a badass motor. Thanks for making this video. Bought my bbshd from Luna 2 years ago. I've put 13,000km on the odometer to this day and it's still running quite well. Plan to open her up and take look inside soon. Change the grease and make sure cogs are in good health. I've been feeling a clicking inside the motor when accelerating at full power
It would be nice if you started the video with your taking the case apart. You've probably done hundreds but for a newbie it's nice to see every step, it's amazing how easy it is to screw something very simple up the first time you do it. Other than that great video. Thanks for posting.
Because they think of making a video only after they've ripped the motor open.. Most of this channel is made up of ad-hoc, last minute, half baked video ideas.. They're a retail shop with an online store, they're not really in the business of running a streamlined RUclips channel..
Typically, lubricants based on silicone, PFAE (perflourinated), most synthetic hydrocarbons (SHC or PAO), or mineral oils work well with plastics. Lubricants based on Teflon resin (PTFE) generally do well also. Home depot sells 3 oz. Tube Silicone Lubricating Grease with Syncolon (PTFE) for around $10.
Can you show a video of how to grease and do minor repairs to our bbshd. I think it would benefit both the consumer and Luna if we learned to maintain the motors ourselves.
my bafang bbshd is from you guys i got 08h hall sensor error tested the hall and 2 were out/burnt/failed i replaced with 3144 hall sensors & after 10km they 1/3 burnt out again.. do you sell the hall board separately?
I ordered a new one and plugged everything in the way its supposed to but the motor doesnt spin Eberything sits correctly and i triple checked everything Does anyone know what the problem might be?
I never EVER have good luck with engines or motors. I knew it would be no different with the "bombproof" BBSHD! only 1,500 miles on the motor and I've got rusty squeeking thrust bearings at the chainring side crank housing. Meh. Not looking forward to trying to source and replace the bearings

Those 3 screws for the Nylon gear guard are FREAKING tight!!!
Is there a reason why all these videos start with the motor disassembled? I want to see the disassembly process.

Hi Luna Cycle, Thanks for the vital information !!
Looks well made. Eventually I will be getting this unit.

What makes you think luna would benefit by teaching their customers to maintain the motors?
How often do you have to regrease the motor??
So did new grease solve problem?
the car pedal support is cut off, it comes back, why does this problem occur?
Thanks for showing that, the internals look like they are nicely made.
Did fresh grease quiet it down again, or was something worn out?
I wonder who designed this motor. Very impressed.
Buying one, when is a good time lube inside, before I use it?

interesting stuff, learning a lot - thanks guys.
Can I request a video on how to wire a new build / everything together?
car engine timing type chains and sprockets would be strong for use on mid drive ebikes and wear out less quickly than bicycle chainrings
yeh I go through a lot of drivetrains
well? what was the fault ie grinding noise
On top of syntetic gear are two holes for M4 screws to put him better off 😁
They're called pawls!
Was the noise issue able to be resolved? Mine is doing the same thing after about 400 miles. What is the recommended repair?
Mine is at 450 miles and has the same problem!
nylon gear? why?
+Kaywood Parsons I assume it is to reduce mechanical noise.
ah. kk thanks mate
Can you make a video of a Cyclone 3000w Tear down Assemble and disassemble
Is there a way to make the motor rotate the other way?
Swap any two phase wires 😊
Do you guys answer e mails?

Poor Motor😢, I hope the water didn't Ruin it entirely🙈 Cool to see how it works!👍
Thank you luna cycles

Thank you for sharing this!
great video!
nicely made cheap bearings and poor engineering tolerances used cause failure
The part in your hand that you refer to as an axle is a spindle.
Now i want one. Whats shiping costs like? Free for a new, dog loving, chesse cake sharing customer?? Ehh ehh ehh!! ;D
The plastic gear is my only concern
it is complicated of the motor, high tech!
Gee, thanks for the “Teardown”.🤦
can i have this please im a poor disabled stupid looser and i need a way to get to the store
