That looks fabulous and I completely agree with your choice of wallpaper. I too paint with both hands, except for any fiddly bits. I have a reason, though; I have lympheodema in my right arm so it gets achey and my hand cramps up regularly; therefore, I change hands frequently. I've become somewhat ambidextrous, sort of.
Kudos on the beginning of this video, Andy! Makeup and plotline were outstanding! I love buffet tops. This one is spectacular with the lighting, glass shelves and leaded glass doors. I think you have moved from furniture flipper solidly into furniture artist. At this point, you are charging for your artistry as well as your supplies and labor. My initial thought is $500-$700 for this gorgeous display cabinet. If it doesn’t sell, you can always drop the price after a week. I love the way you staged this cabinet several different ways. Maybe show some of those options when you list it.🌸
Wow, thanks so much Deborah! Humbled to be called an artist, and greatly appreciate your assessment of the value. That was the same range that was suggested to me by others - will for sure show those different options when I list. Cheers!

I couldn't even WAIT to watch it before I commented...lol! This is THE BEST video you've ever done! The drama, the intrigue, the emotions, the......???? Oh, well, let me watch it and see what else I can come up with.
Love it. I have a China closet almost identical to that one. We bought it in 1980. The door handles are the same too. The wallpaper is perfect. I would have never used it and I am more plain, I guess I need to step out of my box!
Oh wow, that is great to hear! To me the wiring set up looked older, but perhaps this piece is late 70's early 80's! I can tell you I really agonized about the design concept for this piece -and in the end was soooo happy I went more strong/bold...the piece's lines could really support the look. Best of luck with yours should you decide to go for a change! 😊❤️
I liked the chevron pattern best. Your choice seems to make a nod to William Morris, and I like that as well. I have seen the top used as stand alone shelving and I really like that too. I have treasured my China cabinet since the late 70’s. ,and yes I know it is no longer in style, but please children do not paint my dinning room furniture. My daughter has the dinning room table and 8 chairs, And the Hunt Board. I also have a bar with a top that folds open , it is on wheels and very handy. We purchased it with the thought that it could be passed down and it would never wear out. I love the leaded glass doors, I would leave all of them. It fun to watch your creativity. I have done some furniture myself and you have encouraged me to try another piece. Thank you. 👏👏. 👵
Thanks very much, Katherine! And thanks for sharing about your set - I love to hear about people's experiences with their own pieces. 😊❤️ So happy to encourage you to try another piece!
I love your videos. Ive got to binge watch on a rainy day to catch up. Who doesn't love storytelling. You would make an excellent teacher with that personality. You are amazingly talented. My new RUclips best friend. I've been flipping furniture since I was a young girl, my dad was a painter. Now 60 years young have just started to sell pieces. I've learned so much from you! You make it fun, and your pieces are happy.
Wow, thank you Donna, this is so awesome to read! Makes me so happy you are enjoying the fables. That's amazing you have been flipping since you were a kiddo - I'm sure I could learn so much from you!! 😊❤️🙏
Just landed on your video today! Loved loved loved it!! Your work is amazing, beautiful transformation, very entertaining. You're a natural, so fun!!! ❤
I really enjoyed the "tenstion between modern and rustic" of the end product, as you described it. To me, it feels many of our modern products are made of cardboard & sawdust (or plastic resin and glue, but that's another discussion altogether)... so seeing a wooden piece respected as wood, where possible, is very gratifying. The drama of the doors is particularly appealing! I would personally use all 4 of them, for reasons of symmetry and of cleanliness. As ever, your introduction was so enjoyable. Biff and Painterly are fun, but it's your evil twin who'll always be my favourite! Ever since your SAT test of the past season, I'm giggling when I see your evil twin - it's because your daughters were so surprised when your report card mentioned "character creation" as a bonus skill. That was such a delightful snarky subtle detail... I love it!
Many thanks, Meinhart! I agree - it can be more difficult to find quality in modern pieces, although thankfully, it is out there. I wasn't 100% sure my idea to leave as much of that original finish would work out, so was very happy when the result seemed to really balance itself and sing. Glad you enjoyed As The Paint Dries, (gotta give Her Highness a break every now and then) and glad you caught that "inside" joke...😅
Good Morning everyone!. The top hutch turned out amazing. Love that you didn't paint the whole piece and the paper used works better than I expected. I think you should, at the very least, pricing the piece around $900 $1,200. It's a well made construction, leaded glass and lighting are valuable features and you magic makes it highly desirable. Better to start out high, you can always lower the price later. Amazing job Andy. Have a great day.

@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy yes I had a wonderful early corner cupboard. It was wonderful. Unfortunately I got divorced and had to sell a lot of my best pieces off. That was a killer. But that’s life.
Luv luv luv it!! So boho, so extraordinary, joyful, stunning, luv it with end doors , loved it more with no doors, here in australia, i would pay $1000, bcz no one else has one,
Thank you so much, Rita! So awesome to hear that - I too loved it in all of its various doors/no doors stages. 😅 And that's amazing to hear about your pricing suggestion - truly appreciate that. 🙏😊❤️
When was young I always thought I was a little weird for wanting to bring things back to life like this. But hey, thanks youtube for validating/motivating my craziness🤙🏽😂😇
My daughter and I were crying with laughter at the beginning, we both chose the liquorice and the coloured paper too. She turned out stunning real statement piece , I would probably list this in uk around the £375-£425 she’s worth it !!
THIS is why I love your channel! I would never had thought to separate the piece like that but wow! I love it! I bought a smaller assemble yourself display with doors at Target for 248, not real wood, no lights so I think at least 498! I love the wallpaper too and the legs! You are one smart cookie! Thanks for all your hard work and can't wait for next week's episode!
I feel like $325-350 is good. Pieces like this are rare today. Solid wood, stain glass style doors...it's a one of a kind piece. I'm sure you could go higher depending how long you want to sit on it.
I honestly think you are underpricing the piece. It is a solid piece, well designed and constructed. It has features not often seen in these hutches... the leaded glass doors, which are absolutely beautiful. Add to this that you artistically upcycled the piece to a not common display case with multiple options. I would list it at $500. or a bit higher. Perhaps you think four hours of work merit the price you decided on but there is not just labor involved, there is also the creativity, the artistry and that too has worth. The piece is stunning, pat yourself on the back.
Thank you so much! Great feedback - and I agree. I often don't add in the time that I take to consider, think, plan, experiment, etc...basically, the creative process. I think your suggested price point is very reasonable! 😊👍
What goes around comes around. I'm keeping my china cabinet and hutch, they will not be breaking up. They will be back in style in ten years. I love your fun way of making a point.
Gosh, I just love everything you've done do far. Laughing and learning at the same time. I enjoy lots of 'flippers' on youtube, and your videos are always so well made, professional, great music etc. Pat yourself on the back! Here's to 2022.
When you showed the choices of wallpaper, I went with the leafy pattern. I was initially disappointed to see the busier colored pattern you chose, but when you took off the two middle doors...Wow! I changed my mind immediately. It looked gorgeous! So happy how it turned out. I think you should charge what you want to charge. $250.00 sounds good to me. Maybe someone who normally wouldn't be able to afford a hutch top like this would now be able to have one and treasure it for ever. I'm tired of seeing only the upper middle class have all of the nice things. The everyday working man/woman needJst to be able to have pretty and beautiful furniture as well. Just something to think about. It did turn out beautifully, so no matter what you charge, someone is going to have a wonderful piece in their home for a very long time. Congrats!
Love this, Peggy - thanks so much! I love your thinking about the pricing, very insightful. And thrilled the paper made sense in the end! For me, the piece needed that stronger print for balance. (even though I LOVE that leaf pattern too) Thanks again!
my favorite was the leafy pattern too...I also liked the bee pattern...but I think for me it would depend on what I used it for...but...I will say the boldness of the pattern she chose without the doors makes it look amazing!
Exactly what I was thinking. With all 4 doors the wallpaper was too dark, but with the middle doors removed it really popped! As for pricing, it depends what the customer is going to spend.
Yes, it's true that the hourly rates for many skilled artistic jobs are not fantastically impressive. As a professional musician, I know this reality very well.
Nicely done! A couple of years ago while building my tiny house I was looking for some used furniture to redo. and I came across an old China hutch from the 30's or 40's sitting on the side of the road, I ended up with three pieces of furniture of that hutch. I took the bottom and put 4" legs on it and built a butcher board top and built my kitchen island, I took 2 of the doors off the top and replaced them with plywood and built a wall mounted entertainment center and then I took the 2 door I took off and made a wall mounted linen closet for the bathroom. I like refurbing old furniture but I REALLY like it when I can make 3 pieces of useful furniture out of 1 that was going to end up in the landfill had I not.
Thanks so much, Bryan! Wow - what a great story, thanks for sharing. I'm with you - the refurbishing is a great feeling for all those reasons you mentioned. 😊👍
I love finding throwaway furniture and helping it find a new life ❤ I've seen so much furniture on the side of the road with free signs on I just think about the possibilities the world of possibilities .
Three words: WOW, WOW, WOW!! I am amazed at how beautiful this piece/pieces turned out. Like you, I typically wouldn’t put wallpaper on the outside of a piece of furniture but it worked perfectly in this case. Love the touch phone! LOL!!
Hello Andy. The hutch is beautiful, especially with the wallpaper you chose. It really brought this piece to life, with and without the doors. Well done my dear!!!👍🥰❤️❤️
I just don't watch your channel to learn but it's also like a series when u wait for the next episode! Thoroughly entertaining and informative. Can you sometimes share what your background is? You must've taken or taught drama or something. Amazing talent. Thanks for sharing it with us..
Wow, thank you so much Bushra! Perhaps I should do a quick "getting to know you" video for folks! In "real life" I am a professional musician, (conductor and singer) and I do occasionally perform on stage in musical theater productions. 😊
I love, love, love that wallpaper. I actually just ordered some for an accent wall in my kitchen that I’ve been struggling to figure out what to do. You always astound me with your ability to see a diamond in the rough. Beautiful as always.
I felt encouraged seeing you sit on that rolling stool to complete most of the project, and then using the sawhorses to support the doors while you worked on them. I have some physical limitations d/t pain and really wanted to get into furniture makeover/restoration. I thought there was no way b/c my stupid body wouldn't cooperate. Once I can get my hands on one of those stools, a dolly, a solid table and some sawhorses, maybe I can do this!!! Thank you!
Hi Jayme, I'm so glad to hear you say this, I really understand. It's true that this can be a physically demanding job, but with the right tools, I'm able to keep doing it, regardless of ongoing chronic pain. I wish you the very best of luck! 😊♥️🙏
Gorgeous! I love those doors! I love the transformations of these outdated China cabinets. I like using them as bookcases as I have books rather than china. And I would list it around 450-500 for sure. Possibly more. It’s solid oak, with leaded glass doors..it could even be used as an upper cabinet in a kitchen that integrates an old piece into new design..which is currently very hot to do!
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy I’ve seen quite a few kitchens lately with these integrated pieces and it lends an otherwise sterile kitchen some vintage charm. DeVol kitchens is a company who is notorious for it..in a great way! I love old house charm but new house convenience so I’m always looking for ways to blend the two concepts. :)
Great job, Andy! Love the opening.

My daughter and I were crying with laughter at the beginning, we both chose the liquorice and the coloured paper too. She turned out stunning real statement piece , I would probably list this in uk around the £375-£425 she’s worth it !!
Wow, so happy to hear that!! 😂❤️😂 Many thanks - wonderful feedback!!
I would price it at $750. You can always go down. It's beautiful, and so versatile. Love your videos!
Wow, thanks so much! 😊❤️🙏
I feel like $325-350 is good. Pieces like this are rare today. Solid wood, stain glass style doors...it's a one of a kind piece. I'm sure you could go higher depending how long you want to sit on it.
Thank you! Great to hear.
I love your color choices. I am becoming a fan of making two separate pieces from one cabinet. As always, love your work.
Thank you, Susan! 😊🙏
Oh how I laughed, such over acting, still smiling. loved it, and I get the connection, well done.
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed this less than traditional approach! 😂 Many thanks! 😊🙏
Stunning! Love the charcoal-lavender hue of the paint. I'm also an ambidextrous painter and love the challenge of cutting in with no tape!
Thanks so much! 😊 That's so interesting!
What goes around comes around. I'm keeping my china cabinet and hutch, they will not be breaking up. They will be back in style in ten years. I love your fun way of making a point.
You are so right! Thanks so much. 😊
Gosh, I just love everything you've done do far. Laughing and learning at the same time. I enjoy lots of 'flippers' on youtube, and your videos are always so well made, professional, great music etc. Pat yourself on the back! Here's to 2022.
Many many thank Tamara!! What a lovely compliment - I truly appreciate hearing that. Cheers to 22! 😊❤️
You are an absolute delight to follow. You make it fun to watch. Plus you do awesome work. ❤️
Wow, thank you very much Heidi! So nice to hear. 😊🙏❤️
Thank you for the inspiration, I think it turned out amazing. Poor Biff, he is going to miss his sweetheart.
Thanks so much!! (make sure you watch part two if you want more of Biff's story...) 😊
$45 so reasonable for your skilled labor. Here in Seattle my neighbor charges $55 for housecleaning. Yikes!!
Yes, it's true that the hourly rates for many skilled artistic jobs are not fantastically impressive. As a professional musician, I know this reality very well.
I come for the furniture and the show! I was ecstatic when I saw the wallpaper you chose because that was my choice. Brava!
Yes! Thank you! Awesome to hear - about both. 😊❤️🙏
Black licorice all the way. Yum.
YAAASSSS 🖤🖤🖤
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy Yep when I first retired from the Army I did alot of refurbing, not for the money though, I would do it for what I had in it.
I love finding throwaway furniture and helping it find a new life ❤ I've seen so much furniture on the side of the road with free signs on I just think about the possibilities the world of possibilities .
There's something kind of wonderful about it, isn't there? ♥️
Three words: WOW, WOW, WOW!! I am amazed at how beautiful this piece/pieces turned out. Like you, I typically wouldn’t put wallpaper on the outside of a piece of furniture but it worked perfectly in this case. Love the touch phone! LOL!!
Thank you so much, Liz!! Truly appreciate hearing that! Wasn't that phone fun?? My kids LOVE it! 😂❤️🙏
Outstanding job, as always!
Many thanks, Janet!
Hello Andy. The hutch is beautiful, especially with the wallpaper you chose. It really brought this piece to life, with and without the doors. Well done my dear!!!👍🥰❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Teresa!! So happy you liked the end result! 😊🙏❤️
Aha!!! I knew it!!!!! Love you!
I love, love, love that wallpaper. I actually just ordered some for an accent wall in my kitchen that I’ve been struggling to figure out what to do. You always astound me with your ability to see a diamond in the rough. Beautiful as always.
Thanks so much, Kay!! Oooo...that'll be gorgeous! 😊❤️🙏
Gorgeous ,very very beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much 😊
So much drama! I loved how the piece turned out.
LOL, right?!? Thanks so much! 😂🙏❤️
Wow - Great idea!! Thanks so much - really appreciate the pricing feedback and such a cool idea as an integrated piece!
Omg 🤣🤣 I love the beginning 🤣🤣 love it all but the start was the best 🙌🙌🙌🤣🤣🤣♥️♥️♥️
YAY! Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed!
Love love love the stool! I have the same one!
Isn't it great?? Loving it! 😊❤️
I aDoRe your fables!! Thank you so much for taking us along! :)
You are so welcome, Dawn! Thank you for watching!! 🙏🙏🙏
The cabinet redo is amazing.
Thank you, Jan!
I so enjoy everything about you channel, your voice is so beautiful, I smile almost the whole time I watch
Wow, thank you Alicia! What an incredibly nice thing to hear. 😊❤️😊❤️🙏🙏🙏
