Kudos on the beginning of this video, Andy! Makeup and plotline were outstanding! I love buffet tops. This one is spectacular with the lighting, glass shelves and leaded glass doors. I think you have moved from furniture flipper solidly into furniture artist. At this point, you are charging for your artistry as well as your supplies and labor. My initial thought is $500-$700 for this gorgeous display cabinet. If it doesn’t sell, you can always drop the price after a week. I love the way you staged this cabinet several different ways. Maybe show some of those options when you list it.🌸
Wow, thanks so much Deborah! Humbled to be called an artist, and greatly appreciate your assessment of the value. That was the same range that was suggested to me by others - will for sure show those different options when I list. Cheers!
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy I think your work is excellent. You might want to "window shop" at furniture stores and see the current prices the furniture stores are charging... not to mention Tax... and Shipping/Delivery.... and lag-time in delivery! If this was offered to me... and I had the perfect spot... I'd ea$ily pay $700-$800 for it! (I think you should also "autograph" your pieces somewhere... or at least attach an envelope that says which RUclips video your items are featured in.) Keep up your great work, Andy!
@@onekidletgreat idea and suggestion! I agree with you! A signature or some sort of “tag” of her own artistry would be wonderful!
Good Morning everyone!. The top hutch turned out amazing. Love that you didn't paint the whole piece and the paper used works better than I expected. I think you should, at the very least, pricing the piece around $900 $1,200. It's a well made construction, leaded glass and lighting are valuable features and you magic makes it highly desirable. Better to start out high, you can always lower the price later. Amazing job Andy. Have a great day.
Wow, thank you so much! I love your insights, that's very interesting. Hmmm...wow, lots of thinking to do...😅
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndyAndy, the DIY Wife (TX) a display cabinet that she added a base to. After it was sold and the additional inquiries she realized she could have charge more for it. Busted & Buffed had the same realization on a hutch make over. He is in TX and was told by a sub in NY City a piece like his would go for around $1,200. If the person who buy's the piece a distance from you, you could over to delivery at an additional charge. A lot depends on the area market and demographics. Don't sell yourself short on this piece just because it was free and didn't cost much in the way of time and $$$.
@@indie825 love this info, thanks so much! I agree - SO important not to sell ourselves short as artists - definitely need to do the research before listing. And getting this kind of feedback from such an educated audience so incredibly helpful!
Oh, the drama!!!!! :-) Loving the intros!
Yay, so glad you like them! 😂😅
OMG, you are sooo much fun to watch. You have the same conversations that take place in my head when I'm working! She is simply gorgeous!!
Thank you so much, Lanetra!! Lol, that is good to hear - I'm not the only one? 😂 SO glad you liked how she turned out!! 😊🙏❤️
Best of both worlds literary excellence and chic furniture design. Can’t beat! Thanks for sharing your talent.
Wow, thank you! Love this. Cheers! 🙏😊❤️
😂 "As the Paint Dries" would be a hit!!! Loved the new cabinet - lovely!
Thanks so much! 😊 It does have a ring, does it not? 😂😂😂
Finding a piece with real leaded glass is a rare gift. Usually you find glass with plastic insets many broken.
True indeed!
I really enjoyed the "tenstion between modern and rustic" of the end product, as you described it.
To me, it feels many of our modern products are made of cardboard & sawdust (or plastic resin and glue, but that's another discussion altogether)... so seeing a wooden piece respected as wood, where possible, is very gratifying.
The drama of the doors is particularly appealing! I would personally use all 4 of them, for reasons of symmetry and of cleanliness.
As ever, your introduction was so enjoyable. Biff and Painterly are fun, but it's your evil twin who'll always be my favourite!
Ever since your SAT test of the past season, I'm giggling when I see your evil twin - it's because your daughters were so surprised when your report card mentioned "character creation" as a bonus skill. That was such a delightful snarky subtle detail... I love it!
Many thanks, Meinhart! I agree - it can be more difficult to find quality in modern pieces, although thankfully, it is out there. I wasn't 100% sure my idea to leave as much of that original finish would work out, so was very happy when the result seemed to really balance itself and sing. Glad you enjoyed As The Paint Dries, (gotta give Her Highness a break every now and then) and glad you caught that "inside" joke...😅
Oohhh, can't wait for the Biff part! 🤣 As a long time fan of Days of Our Lives, I have to say you nailed it! Lol
HONORED! Been watching Days since Jr High. 😊⏳
Love black licorice of any kind! Love your videos! And your work is wonderful!💚
YAY!! Fist bump for black licorice. And thank you so much!!
Those are some brush skills!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I love finding throwaway furniture and helping it find a new life ❤ I've seen so much furniture on the side of the road with free signs on I just think about the possibilities the world of possibilities .
There's something kind of wonderful about it, isn't there? ♥️
Gosh, I just love everything you've done do far. Laughing and learning at the same time. I enjoy lots of 'flippers' on youtube, and your videos are always so well made, professional, great music etc. Pat yourself on the back! Here's to 2022.
Many many thank Tamara!! What a lovely compliment - I truly appreciate hearing that. Cheers to 22! 😊❤️
I would price it at $750. You can always go down. It's beautiful, and so versatile. Love your videos!
Awesome!!!!!!! I especially love it without the middle doors. It’s a gorgeous piece.❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much! I loved it that way too. 😊❤️🙏
Biff, Painterly. Biff, Painterly. BIFF, PAINTERLY. Oh the anguish! I do enjoy your videos. And your makeover is fabulous.
😂😂😂 Thank you!!!
Cyd in MD. OMG where have you been all my RUclips viewing life? You are so funny!! Your opening brightened my day. I don't refinish furniture, but I love to laugh and you gliding around the garage on the seat was priceless. Thanks.
Hooray! Thanks so much, Cyd - so glad you found me and that you enjoy my fables approach! 😊❤️🙏
Wow! Love with all doors. Not crazy about the funky wallpaper.
Thanks Maria! 😊👍
Your video's are just what I needed these past three weeks, been dealing with covid and not much is making me smile, thanks!
Wow Ginger, I'm so incredibly glad to hear that. Sending you all the very best for a swift and full recovery! 🙏❤️🙏
Oh goodness, I just love your stories, and watching your acting!! Thank you for sharing your many talents!
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for watching, Linda! 😊❤️
I haven't even gotten to the makeover, and I'm already enthralled! 😄
Hooray!!
I couldn't even WAIT to watch it before I commented...lol! This is THE BEST video you've ever done! The drama, the intrigue, the emotions, the......???? Oh, well, let me watch it and see what else I can come up with.
LOL, wow THANKS SO MUCH! Hope you enjoyed the rest of it!! 😊😂🙏
Hahaha!!! Biff's sniff-sighs had me chuckling😆
Lol, oh good...he'll be thrilled to hear that his performance was appreciated. 😂🙏❤️
I love how you showed so many options for staging this piece. Each one was beautiful and definitely gave the piece a different look
Thank you so much, Barbara! Glad that was enjoyable. 😊
OMG! That beginning 😲😢😂 outstanding!
Thank you!!! 😂😂😂👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful makeover. You chose my favorite paper. And I like it with the 2 doors.
Thank you, Polly! 😊 So glad you liked that paper, and I too LOVED it with two doors. 🙏
I loved this video, thank goodness this love story had a happy ending. The bold wallpaper was perfection.
Yay! Thanks so much! More to come with that love story, lol....
You are crazy creative!! I so look forward to your productions!
Thank you so much, Maria! I love getting to create them and share with you! 😊❤️
Finally finally some genuine honest to goodness creative and bold humor...oh yeah love me my seventy dollar Ethan Allen thrifted hutch. As far as the rest I shall call you the new Hyacinth Bouquet from Keeping up Appearances...
Thank you Jackie!! Oh my goodness - I'm HONORED! "It's BOO-KAY!!" 😂😂😂
Great job, Andy! Love the opening.
Thanks! ❤️😊🙏
WoW !! What an incredible transformation. Brilliant!
Thanks so much!!
I love your videos. Ive got to binge watch on a rainy day to catch up. Who doesn't love storytelling. You would make an excellent teacher with that personality. You are amazingly talented. My new RUclips best friend. I've been flipping furniture since I was a young girl, my dad was a painter. Now 60 years young have just started to sell pieces. I've learned so much from you! You make it fun, and your pieces are happy.
Wow, thank you Donna, this is so awesome to read! Makes me so happy you are enjoying the fables. That's amazing you have been flipping since you were a kiddo - I'm sure I could learn so much from you!! 😊❤️🙏
Just landed on your video today! Loved loved loved it!! Your work is amazing, beautiful transformation, very entertaining. You're a natural, so fun!!! ❤
I have acquired several types of China hutches over the years. The base makes for great storage, like a chest of drawers, and always sells quickly here in this retirement/vacation area (SE NC). Sometimes I add bun feet to the hutch and then I can sell it. But they are usually difficult to handpaint.
Love it. I have a China closet almost identical to that one. We bought it in 1980. The door handles are the same too. The wallpaper is perfect. I would have never used it and I am more plain, I guess I need to step out of my box!
Oh wow, that is great to hear! To me the wiring set up looked older, but perhaps this piece is late 70's early 80's! I can tell you I really agonized about the design concept for this piece -and in the end was soooo happy I went more strong/bold...the piece's lines could really support the look. Best of luck with yours should you decide to go for a change! 😊❤️
You are one of the most adept painters I've seen - great cutting in style and results, with both hands - good for you!
Wow, thank you!
Omg the intro was soooo funny. This piece turned out AWESOME 👌
Thank you!! 🙏 😊
Lol , awe the beginning of this video made my day lol. Thank you 😊
Hooray!! Thanks so much, Laura. 😊❤️
Loved this Andy! Stunning and worth more than price you guesstimated! What a cool idea. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks so much, Kelly! And thanks for that encouragement - wonderful to hear!
Lol! Love the intro- "As the paint dries..."
Thanks! 😂🙏
This is funny! "As the Paint Dries" Looks great!!!
Lol, thanks so much! 🤓💗🙏
My daughter and I were crying with laughter at the beginning, we both chose the liquorice and the coloured paper too. She turned out stunning real statement piece , I would probably list this in uk around the £375-£425 she’s worth it !!
Wow, so happy to hear that!! 😂❤️😂 Many thanks - wonderful feedback!!
Stunning! Love the charcoal-lavender hue of the paint. I'm also an ambidextrous painter and love the challenge of cutting in with no tape!
Thanks so much! 😊 That's so interesting!
Oh how I laughed, such over acting, still smiling. loved it, and I get the connection, well done.
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed this less than traditional approach! 😂 Many thanks! 😊🙏
Omg 🤣🤣 I love the beginning 🤣🤣 love it all but the start was the best 🙌🙌🙌🤣🤣🤣♥️♥️♥️
YAY! Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed!
You always make me smile and give me such inspiration for my own furniture makeovers! Thank you! 🥰
I'm so glad! Thanks so much for sharing that. 🙏❤️😊
The cabinet redo is amazing.
Thank you, Jan!
Thank you for the inspiration, I think it turned out amazing. Poor Biff, he is going to miss his sweetheart.
Thanks so much!! (make sure you watch part two if you want more of Biff's story...) 😊
You are an absolute delight to follow. You make it fun to watch. Plus you do awesome work. ❤️
Wow, thank you very much Heidi! So nice to hear. 😊🙏❤️
When you showed the choices of wallpaper, I went with the leafy pattern. I was initially disappointed to see the busier colored pattern you chose, but when you took off the two middle doors...Wow! I changed my mind immediately. It looked gorgeous! So happy how it turned out. I think you should charge what you want to charge. $250.00 sounds good to me. Maybe someone who normally wouldn't be able to afford a hutch top like this would now be able to have one and treasure it for ever. I'm tired of seeing only the upper middle class have all of the nice things. The everyday working man/woman needJst to be able to have pretty and beautiful furniture as well. Just something to think about. It did turn out beautifully, so no matter what you charge, someone is going to have a wonderful piece in their home for a very long time. Congrats!
Love this, Peggy - thanks so much! I love your thinking about the pricing, very insightful. And thrilled the paper made sense in the end! For me, the piece needed that stronger print for balance. (even though I LOVE that leaf pattern too) Thanks again!
my favorite was the leafy pattern too...I also liked the bee pattern...but I think for me it would depend on what I used it for...but...I will say the boldness of the pattern she chose without the doors makes it look amazing!
Exactly what I was thinking. With all 4 doors the wallpaper was too dark, but with the middle doors removed it really popped! As for pricing, it depends what the customer is going to spend.
Love love love the stool! I have the same one!
Isn't it great?? Loving it! 😊❤️
So fun and the drama!!! piece looks amazing both whimsical and elegant
Yay, thank you Laura!!
My Saturdays are not complete without a Furniture Fable to enjoy!
Oh my goodness, that is just the nicest thing in the word to hear - thank you so very much! ❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊🙏🙏🙏
Hello Andy. The hutch is beautiful, especially with the wallpaper you chose. It really brought this piece to life, with and without the doors. Well done my dear!!!👍🥰❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Teresa!! So happy you liked the end result! 😊🙏❤️
THIS is why I love your channel! I would never had thought to separate the piece like that but wow! I love it! I bought a smaller assemble yourself display with doors at Target for 248, not real wood, no lights so I think at least 498! I love the wallpaper too and the legs! You are one smart cookie! Thanks for all your hard work and can't wait for next week's episode!
Wow, thanks so much! 😊❤️🙏
I have never laughed so hard watching a painting video!!! Bravo!!!
Hooray and huzzah!!! Thank you so much, that is so wonderful to hear. 😊🙏❤️
Andy!!!! I love you!!!! You make me smile and laugh and inspire me to step out of the box!!! AND I love that piece!!$500 easy!!!
Hooray, thanks so much Teresa!! Truly appreciate that - and thank you for that pricing suggestion! 😊🙏❤️
What an inspired ending for this piece. Good on ya, mate!
Many thanks Kristina!! 🙏❤️😊
I'm crying laughing watching the acting. Love it!!!
Lol, thanks Kimberly! 😅😂
I think black or dark gray and wood is my favorite combination! All round beautiful
Agree - kind of can't miss with that. Thanks so much!! 😊❤️
I aDoRe your fables!! Thank you so much for taking us along! :)
You are so welcome, Dawn! Thank you for watching!! 🙏🙏🙏
That paper is beautiful! It was my favorite and I was hoping you would use it. It turned out awesome!
HOORAY! Many thanks, Donna. 😊❤️
I cheered when I saw your wallpaper choice 😍
What a great outcome 👏
The two doors look was my favorite.
Considering the quality of the cabinet and artistry and uniqueness as well as its versatility, a dignified $500 would be the minimum.
Thanks for the comic swiveling chair segment -
--- what a hoot!! 😀
Thanks so much, Bettina! 😊 Love your feedback - and appreciate your pricing suggestion. And you are very welcome - always happy to provide some comic relief! 😂🙏
Andy, you rocked this piece.
I don't like all the doors on, however I do like some doors on the pieces. That wallpaper just makes this piece pop. Amazing, thank you for sharing.
Stay safe
Thanks so much! I agree - that two door thing really grew on me as I worked with it. Will do - you too. 😊🙏❤️
Omg you are so talented.. your intro was so awesome..I loved it..And the way you transformed the hutch is stunning..I wish I could do that to one that I have..but I get stuck on colors and how to make it look good 😕..but again you are the most entertaining furniture flipper here☺️
Thank you, Tonia!! So so SO incredibly nice to hear. And just so you know - I struggle all the time with design choices. 😊❤️
I love your color choices. I am becoming a fan of making two separate pieces from one cabinet. As always, love your work.
Thank you, Susan! 😊🙏
Loved the melodrama and the final piece! Your videos stand out for all the right reasons.
Wow - thank you very much, Gina! 🙏🙏🙏
Andy I’m so impressed this is one of your best pieces. Just awesome
Wow, thank you Caroline! Truly appreciate that!! 😊🙏❤️
Haha. You crack me up. Great make over!
Lol, thanks Cassie!
Gorgeous! I love those doors! I love the transformations of these outdated China cabinets. I like using them as bookcases as I have books rather than china. And I would list it around 450-500 for sure. Possibly more. It’s solid oak, with leaded glass doors..it could even be used as an upper cabinet in a kitchen that integrates an old piece into new design..which is currently very hot to do!
Wow - Great idea!! Thanks so much - really appreciate the pricing feedback and such a cool idea as an integrated piece!
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy I’ve seen quite a few kitchens lately with these integrated pieces and it lends an otherwise sterile kitchen some vintage charm. DeVol kitchens is a company who is notorious for it..in a great way! I love old house charm but new house convenience so I’m always looking for ways to blend the two concepts. :)
THAT WAS GREAT!!! Aaaand your fables are fun! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
YES!!! Thanks a million, so glad you enjoyed!! ❤️❤️❤️
I liked the chevron pattern best. Your choice seems to make a nod to William Morris, and I like that as well. I have seen the top used as stand alone shelving and I really like that too. I have treasured my China cabinet since the late 70’s. ,and yes I know it is no longer in style, but please children do not paint my dinning room furniture. My daughter has the dinning room table and 8 chairs, And the Hunt Board. I also have a bar with a top that folds open , it is on wheels and very handy. We purchased it with the thought that it could be passed down and it would never wear out. I love the leaded glass doors, I would leave all of them. It fun to watch your creativity. I have done some furniture myself and you have encouraged me to try another piece. Thank you. 👏👏. 👵
Thanks very much, Katherine! And thanks for sharing about your set - I love to hear about people's experiences with their own pieces. 😊❤️ So happy to encourage you to try another piece!
Black licorice all the way. Yum.
YAAASSSS 🖤🖤🖤
Fun beginning. I would have chosen the paper with the leaves though. Good job. I do like it better with no doors.
Thank you! 😊 Love that leaf paper too - and was surprised how much I liked without doors as well. 👍
I mean, I love your videos, and your work is beautiful! But this intro had me laughing so hard I was crying. Love you! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, Lora!! Means so much to hear that. 🙏😊
I use both hands when painting as well. My dad was a house painter, taught me to paint at a very young age. He said, “a good painter can paint with left or right sometimes situations will need that talent.”
Thanks for sharing that Donna, that is so interesting! Love that. 😊❤️
I honestly think you are underpricing the piece. It is a solid piece, well designed and constructed. It has features not often seen in these hutches... the leaded glass doors, which are absolutely beautiful. Add to this that you artistically upcycled the piece to a not common display case with multiple options. I would list it at $500. or a bit higher. Perhaps you think four hours of work merit the price you decided on but there is not just labor involved, there is also the creativity, the artistry and that too has worth. The piece is stunning, pat yourself on the back.
Thank you so much! Great feedback - and I agree. I often don't add in the time that I take to consider, think, plan, experiment, etc...basically, the creative process. I think your suggested price point is very reasonable! 😊👍
I was holding my breath you wouldn't choose the green! I was ready to move on to another channel! Ha! -Sharon
LOL, phew!! 😂
Oh how I love that black gray paint and that wallpaper! I'd price the piece at $400 - 500. It's beautiful.
Yay, thank you Karol!! Awesome to hear, and thanks for that pricing feedback! 😊❤️🙏
I so enjoy everything about you channel, your voice is so beautiful, I smile almost the whole time I watch
Wow, thank you Alicia! What an incredibly nice thing to hear. 😊❤️😊❤️🙏🙏🙏
Love, l-o-v-e-, LOVE how you juxtapose your charming fables with your furniture makeovers! Funny, entertaining and informative and so enjoyable. I was a bit dubious about this “split-up” at first, but I love how it turned out. It’s fab.
Brenda - thank you so much! I can't tell you how amazing that is to hear. And thrilled you ended up liking the break-up! (LOL) Hoping these two pieces will now be able to find homes. Cheers! 😊🙏❤️
Love the paint choice, love the feet, but I was really hoping for the bee wallpaper.
Thanks Sue! I ALMOST did the bees - they are truly one of my favorites. Interestingly, I thought the strength of the piece overwhelmed them a tad, while that whimsical garden created more of a balance. Honestly, if I kept this one, I could see myself changing up that back paper once or twice a year...😊🐝❤️
LOL... Looks like the lovers *_stepped on a bee_* at the end!

When was young I always thought I was a little weird for wanting to bring things back to life like this. But hey, thanks youtube for validating/motivating my craziness🤙🏽😂😇
Lol, I get that! 😅 Thanks so much!!
That came out beautiful.
Thank you, Angela! 😊
I feel like $325-350 is good. Pieces like this are rare today. Solid wood, stain glass style doors...it's a one of a kind piece. I'm sure you could go higher depending how long you want to sit on it.
Thank you! Great to hear.
Love the drama before the makeovers, love it xx
Oh hooray!! That is so awesome to hear, thanks so much Lynda. ❤️😊🙏
You are super hilarious! The montage at the being is amazing. 😂
So glad you enjoyed, thanks so much Shauna! 😊❤️
Absolutely gorgeous Andy ..I would List her at 500/600 and Show how adverse she is with the doors off and also with the 2 sides on etc ...This Makes her Very valuable ..🥰👍
Many thanks Debra - great feedback to have, and I totally agree the thing to do is to show all that versatility! 😊👍
You mean diverse, right?! 😂 Adverse isn't the right word here....
@@chandracox6814 haha...That darn Autocorrect Was Wrong 🤣🤣..Yes I definitely meant Diverse🤯❣️
Very funny! And ingenious...
Many thanks! ❤️🙏😊
I come for the furniture and the show! I was ecstatic when I saw the wallpaper you chose because that was my choice. Brava!
Yes! Thank you! Awesome to hear - about both. 😊❤️🙏
Oh my goodness, where do I start?! I love this! The beginning was pricelessly funny, the facial expressions! I've split up a "tower of power" and it turned out beautifully!! New life to old things makes so many people happy these days! And in Ontario, Canada the local thrift stores and online, the same thing is happening! There were at least 15 china cabinets in one store this week! Andy, you are a gift and a blessing!
Hooray, thank you so much!! So glad to hear you enjoyed the fable, including the "drama" of "As the Paint Dries", lol. I agree - giving older pieces a new lease on life (and keeping them out of the landfill) makes so many people happy, and I'm surely one of those people! Sounds like we have that in common. 😊🙏
Like it!
I preferred the geometric light wallpaper to enhance and coordinate with the doors.
Loved the paint color choice and leaving some wood.
The current wallpaper looks better without doors, a shame.
I think it should be listed at $350
Thanks Anne! This is great feedback, appreciate it! 😊🙏
Luv luv luv it!! So boho, so extraordinary, joyful, stunning, luv it with end doors , loved it more with no doors, here in australia, i would pay $1000, bcz no one else has one,
Thank you so much, Rita! So awesome to hear that - I too loved it in all of its various doors/no doors stages. 😅 And that's amazing to hear about your pricing suggestion - truly appreciate that. 🙏😊❤️
Love this one…I think it’s my favorite so far
WOW, I'm thrilled!! Thank you so much, Sherri! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Biff, it’s amazing!
😂😂😂👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
That looks fabulous and I completely agree with your choice of wallpaper. I too paint with both hands, except for any fiddly bits. I have a reason, though; I have lympheodema in my right arm so it gets achey and my hand cramps up regularly; therefore, I change hands frequently. I've become somewhat ambidextrous, sort of.
Thanks Deb! That's very interesting! 😊👍
Such a fun and informative piece!
Thanks so much, Diana!!
Those leaded glass doors are way too awesome not to use! The doors are gorgeous. Good job saving and restyling this piece!!
Thanks so much! 😊
What goes around comes around. I'm keeping my china cabinet and hutch, they will not be breaking up. They will be back in style in ten years. I love your fun way of making a point.
You are so right! Thanks so much. 😊
I wasn’t in love with the choices as you made them, but the end result can’t be denied. This looks great! I used new feet on a dresser and ended up using 8 total. I butted two together in the center and was really happy with the look! Less happy with the price 😂 always love your videos 😻😻
Wow, thanks so much Brittany! 🙏😊❤️
