I love the look of the two pieces combined.
Nicely done. Looks wonderful and shiny.
It's nice to have someone you love while quarantined. 🥰
So nice! We have to remind each other that when we get annoyed with each other. 😉
Acrylic base paint... very cool. Thank you for your video!!
Well Done! You cover every detail.
I've been curious about this paint. Was excited to see you try it. Thanks for the info. Loved the quarantine bloopers :D
Thanks!
Love the marriage of these two pieces. It turned out just beautifully. I never would have thought to use the coffee table that way
Me either. I can't take credit for it. It just came to me that way, but I like it.
Amazing job. Love it
Love that piece, I have been looking for something unique like that.
Thanks.
I love this paint, and I think this project is beautiful.
Thanks, Whitney. Have you used this paint before?
Turned out really amazing! 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks, Maddie.
Wow! I love it. I was thinking about doing this with a hutch I have. It’s so gorgeous. But I have never painted a piece of furniture in my life.
Thank You for sharing your talent. 🌸
Carol, you can do it!
You are the best one to get tips off.
Christina posting a new video......thanks for bringing back some “normal” to our lives. 😊
Thanks, Tom! Always appreciate hearing from you and your support. ❤️
Ooohhhh me likey that kind of smoothness. Girl your outtakes cracked me up 😝! Praying you and your tribe are staying safe and healthy xoxo
Thanks, Janet. I would rather have brush strokes than do all that sanding. 😂 But I know people want to see a smooth finish, so I enjoyed trying this paint out for all of you.
@@ChristinaMuscari 💖💖
Love that piece. It's so funny to see family video bombs 😂😆. I really liked the paint, yes more steps, but hey we got time.🤗😳
Get ready there will probably be more family video bombs with this quarantine.
It would be interested for such a dark color in the cabinet interior: a nice and colorful wall paper or vinyl will make it stand out even more. Nice work anyway!
second time watching this video - I love this piece!!!!
really like it thanks for sharing as always!
Thanks.
Beautiful.
I love your videos 💕
Great video!
Love the bloopers! 😂🤣😂
Thanks!
@@ChristinaMuscari OMG the bloopers were hilarious! Do you always do bloopers? If so, I've missed them and only saw these bc I was reading the comments. HA HA! So funny! Love your videos!
I just got my first paints and brushes today delivered of course
Great! Fill this time with creativity and positvity.
Looks Beautiful
Thanks Belinda.
sublime merci😍
Beautiful job .... lots of work, and it shows..what a gorgeous piece
Thanks!
Hi Christina! Love your channel and I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos. Quick and possibly silly question, can you use any primer and then use chalk paint? I’m still learning products you can use with chalk paint and didn’t actually realized you could prime first and then paint with chalk paint. Thanks!
Yes, you can prime before chalk paint, but I rarely do.
Beautiful job!!great work as always.Question i have a black bedroom set i want to repaint it without having to do a lot of sanding is chalk paint the way to go ?also i want to do it in white HELP AND ITS WOOD WHAT DO YOU THINK
Yes, a chalk like paint would be best.
That was a nice transformation! Also wonder if you would paint the inside a contrasting color and how is the hutch attached to the base? Is it attached? Unusual piece. Great job! Those brushes look awesome. 😀👍🏻🌸stay safe!
You totally could paint the inside, and I may end up doing that. Not in a hurry to sell right now. The brushes are great and affordable. It's not attached.
How nice is this?! I am about to use Chalk Paint on our China Cabinet/Hutch and the Dry Sink.....as a professional, do you find it better to paint the inside of the doors, especially the class doors, or leave them in the original contrast/finish? Thanks for this video, it give me courage to proceed! Thanks for your advice, I sure need it! Smile
Hey! Cool material!
Hey, thanks!
Hi Christina! Youve inspired me and Im going to dive in and do my hutch. finally decided on Annie Sloan French Linen but now I'm wondering about this paint. IS there one you prefer?
Annie Sloan is one of my favorites!
Hi. I love your channel. I am going to redo a huge entertainment center that has yellowed through the years. Don’t want to sand to much. Would you recommend this paint? Or chalk? Thank you!
Chalk paint is my favorite!
I like how you left the inside of the hutch the natural wood color - it is a very nice piece with it’s unusual shape and color contrast!
Random question... do most furniture painters paint the inside of drawers and the back of pieces? I’m just starting out painting furniture and I wasn’t sure...
Karen, it's up to you. I don't do it unless a client requests it. I think if you are starting out, it's better to save your paint and time by not doing it and see if you can sell that way first.
Awesome job! what are your thoughts of using paint roller instead of brush? if so what kind of roller would you suggest?
I like the look of brush strokes on most pieces, which is why I use a brush. I used a roller on top of a desk top in this video: ruclips.net/video/j8-DVdzNxwM/видео.html
I would of loved to see the inside painted too. Good job.
I still might...I've got the time now.
Will this technique work on laminate furniture?
I am wondering about whether to also paint the insides of furniture too? How do you decide whether or not to do so? Do your buyers care if the inside is painted as well? Thank you!
I don't unless a client asks for it.
I just curious, because I'm doing a cabinet too but I want to paint the inside white as well. What are your thoughts on painting the inside white. Do you think its a good idea or not.
My own dining room hutch is painted on the inside, so I think if want to do that, it's a great idea.
Beautiful work as always. But it’s a lot of steps. lol I’m spoiled to the fast drying and easily distressed chalk paint. I also like a matte topcoat. As a totally unrelated side note, your hair looks adorable in this video. Thanks for sharing!
Connie, yes lots of steps with this one. Some extra work to get that really smooth finish. Thanks for the compliment on my hair. 😊
Please do some videos with antique furniture with damaged veneer tops and overlays. Do you remove that enamel / veneer? What you would see on a Louis armoire etc. thanks ! Not nearly enough videos on that anywhere available.
Have you seen these two videos? ruclips.net/video/52YvgnWZQrk/видео.html & ruclips.net/video/-ttXq3Y8lG4/видео.html
Thanks for posting this video which I watched a few days ago. Because of this I went and bought the primer today to use on a 30s-40s vanity that has mahogany veneer. I am certain it would've bleed through if I hadn't used it. I cleaned the entire piece with water/tsp then lightly sanded everything with 150 . The top though I sanded down past the finish to the raw veneer and stained it a walnut. I wanted to tone down the red color it originally had. I was surprised this primer was so thin in consistency and it appears it is that way too in your video. I came back to watch it to see if maybe something was wrong with the can I got. I did stir it very well as I noticed alot had settled at the bottom. I did however have 3 small spots that bled through two coats of this primer in different areas. One on a drawer, one on a corner of the vanity and an area on the top of the leg. It came through pink. Its very faint though and I'm hoping it doesn't continue to bleed through to the finished coats of milk paint. I'll find out tomorrow . But overall I am pleased with how this did the job.
Yes, it is really thin compared to an oil based primer.
@@ChristinaMuscari Glad to know nothing was wrong with the can I bought. Also I was surprised at that it chipped off right along with where the milk paint chipped. I was glad because I didn't want the white to show wherever it did.
Very nice job. So funny all the interruptions. What's the reason you sand between coats? Just wondering. I know sanding helps with distressing, but if you are sanding not for distressing purposes, what is the reason? Does it make everything smoother or minimize brush strokes?
The sanding between coats on this project was to make is smooth.
Just curious if you have sold this piece yet? I love the look of it, and how unique it is, so I wondered if that unusual design has impacted interest in purchasing it.
It sold right away, within a week if I remember correctly.
I can never find beautiful peices like that.
This was dropped off by a friend.
Can I ask why you didn't paint the inside doors
Hi Christina I’m a new subscriber and I love what I see. I have a question I would love to chalk paint my hutch is a real antique and it’s real wood .I am just terrified of ruining my beautiful hutch. My husband is telling me don’t do it but then I go to all these you tubers and I see chalk paint and it looks so easy. Thank you for sharing and God bless🙏🏻❤️👍🏻
Yes you can!
I am loving your videos! I just read an awesome review on mineral paint and I’m wondering if you would do a tutorial on it? They used cottage paint’s serenity line but it’s not easy to get in the US. I’m hoping you could use Fusion’s or another easy to get mineral paint for us in the US. Thank you!
I'm trying to get some Fusion paint to try.
Christina Muscari awesome!
In your “Chalk paint for beginners...” video you have a large china hutch in the background. Do you have a video about that piece?
I don't. It's one of the first pieces I did before I was on RUclips.
Hi Kristina, do you have some video using glaze technique?????
No, I don't.
What do you do with veneer? I finally had to use a sander.
Is it chipping? Or will the paint not stick?
I'm planning on doing a dresser in Atlantic (very dark navy) and I'm afraid of getting that cloudy white cast when using clear top coat over a dark paint color. Any advice for avoiding this? Thank you! :-)
I don't know if you have gotten an answer to your question by anyone else off of You tube but what I learned from Christina is to add a tiny bit of your color to the top coat and you won't get that cloudy effect. Hopefully you already figured this out but since I didn't see any replies to your question, I thought I would help. Happy painting!!
@@LoriM222 Thank you so so much Lori. This is so very nice and considerate of you. I saw another video of Chrstina's that she mentioned adding some of the dark paint color to the top coat to avoid the cloudiness. Again thank you, very sweet of you. Enjoy your weekend.
@@lourdesa6774 You are so welcome honey. I'm still learning a lot too 😊
I'm painting a baby's cot. Will you recommend a top coat for me
please? Thank you!
Like a crib?
Can you do more Chippy Barn paint in a neutral with wax? Thank you.
I'll make a note. 😊
Great! You are back! 👏🌷
Thanks, Dahise. Feels good to be back!
Have you ever used Heirloom Heritage paints?
Not yet!
Just wondering, would you consider painting the inside an accent color?
Yes, I would and have before. I love dark brown and light blue together though. Probably because it was my wedding color scheme. I might play with it some more to show you how to paint the inside since the market is slow right now. I'm not in a hurry to sell it.
It’s so pretty, I’d keep it! Thank you for all your tips!
What about spray painting with this paint and the primer?
You can use both in a sprayer.
Would you say wax could be just as durable as a top coat?
I'm a big fan of wax. Check out my battle of the topcoats video to see how it compares.
Boy you are all set with that respirator! you are all set to go to the store. See if that dumb virus gets through! the china hutch turned out cute. I am not sure about the paint. I am lazy about sanding in between coats. I painted my stair railing while home. I had the paint for awhile so now is the time. Till next time . Joyce
Have you ever tried fushion mineral paint?
Not yet. I'm talking with them about getting some though.
Christina Muscari ok awesome! I’m a recent subscriber and I love your videos! They have really inspired me! Thank you!!!
Gorgeous. Tried using the code but it stated not available. any help on this...I would live to purchase the paint today
It just worked for me make sure it’s a capital C. Christina10
@@ChristinaMuscari thank you. It appears it works for everything but that gorgeous color, blue ridge
Ayana Pitterson Oh shoot, maybe because it’s limited edition. I’ll check with them.
@@ChristinaMuscari thank you. I love the color
I've been painting furniture for awhile now and I have found Rethunk Junk by Laura paint really gives you more bang for your buck. It dries quickly, flat, fewer coats, amazing coverage, and is a family run business. It is a resin based paint and you can paint over anything! I've painted glass, wood, IKEA furniture and painted over old gross garage drawers. Their PREP product seriously removes all sorts of things from all sorts of things. I used it as a carpet stain remover after a pro couldn't get it out. I am not paid in any way for this recommendation. I'm not a retailer but if I had more time I totally would be. They make stain, washes, PREP, and cleaner. Great company!!!
Thanks for the tip. I may try it out.
Can I use water base paint on wood?
Absolutely, all the paint I use is water based.
@@ChristinaMuscari thank you ,watching from the island of jamaica.
This is fantastic. I've been hesitant to stray from the "all-in-one" chalky paints so thanks for showing something different. I would love to see tools and techniques you use to sand or scruff-up those tiny groves you used the Zebra brush for (or maybe that's not even necessary?). Anyway... Thank you. Another great video
Sincerely,
One of your newest subscribers! XOXO Stay safe at home.
I don't really get in the tiny grooves when I sand. I don't find it necessary.
Stuck at home painting, what is not to like?
Lucky we still have painting and companies are still shipping!
Have you tried DIY paint?
Not yet, but I will!
Wow...that is very time consuming and a lot of work. I dont mind investing time into my pieces....but not days. I will have to pass on this method. Thanks
It is a lot of work- but the results are worth it!
You speak very fast!
It would be really great if you could leave the finished product as a surprise. I highly dislike spoilers. Just a suggestion.
I used to do this, but my videos get better click through having the finished product on the thumbnail. I love the surprise, too, so I hear you.
you speak greek????????????
