Common area pianos and bars are useful for building mixology and music skills, depending on your sims aspirations. There’s also a mod by little Ms. sam that will auto populate things like bar tenders and musicians. I love to take market stall stands especially and have them in random places and the mod will ensure they are staffed without my sim paying for them.
Indeed, the pianos in the lobby are likely to be a selling point for prospective tenants to choose to live in this building over the competition. Just about the only thing that could be a better selling point would be some recreational amenity, such as a bowling alley, disco, or theater, which with the relevant Sims packs is really easy.
James, I will never thank you enough for doing "slow"builds (as opposed to speedbuilds lol). I'm not a fan of speedbuilds, but your videos are slow enough to be able to see what's going on and it's so wonderful. Thank you
This feels like a real building and the vibes are immaculate. There's just something about apartments in this style that just hits right. I also love how not so subtly you showed the secret spaces! Can't wait to see the chaos this building will witness in the future. :>
These kind of old buildings are also quite common in Europe. My friend used to live in a tenement house built in 1912. The apartament was beautiful, but the most important thing - it also had a second staircase with a seperate door in the kitchen, which led straight to the courtyard. And next to the door there was an original servant bell! I also can't forget to mention the original, antique elevator in the main staircase 😍
I only recently discovered Only Murders in the Building and I quickly became obsessed with it. This build fills me with joy. Thank you James for always being awesome! However, if they ever come out with a cobra sculpture, I fully expect the penthouse to be renovated for CoBro.

The aparment with hidden passageway remind of Deli's house where strangers live inside the walls in a hidden compartment. With the new pack that house will be functional.

It was very common in the UK for servants to have their own entrances, staircases and quarters back in the olden days in stately homes. I had no idea it was the same for apartment buildings in NYC!
Have you thought of a retirement home using the upcoming pack. Where I live there are some nice places with gyms, art studio/music spaces etc for the folks to use. Also gives you a place for you elders in the family to live together
So funny! Before this show came out, I started building a property in the sims4 that was kind of like a lodge or retreat center that has hidden passageways for servants, and I limited door access so that these "maids" could clean bedrooms and bathrooms without interacting with any of the guests. lol I didn't finish designing it so it leaves a lot to be desired, but if you want to take a stab at renovating it it's in the gallery under "manor... with servants" 😂
I love this build! I'm probably going to have so simplify it so it'll be playable on my absolute potato of a PC but oh my gosh, it's so pretty. I love these huge luxurious vintage styles of apartments. I think I'll probably leave the penthouse as is because it's actual perfection.

I live in Budapest (Hungary) where there are a lot of older buildings like this and I gotta say you really did catch the vibe with the exterior - and omg that courtyard looks fabulous with the balconies 😍 it's very beautiful and the interior is so stylish, it was such a dopamine rush watching it at the end of the video 👌

I’m not a builder so it’s nice to hear the creators process through the build! The secret walkway behind the walls could work for a story line of a kleptomaniac who only has access to the secret walkway and goes in and collects items from tenants. I’m def putting this in my game!!

It's so fun building things based off your favorite tv show. The first house I built in sims 4 was based off the Salvatore Boarding House from The Vampire Diaries. Kinda like you I wasn't trying to make a 1 for 1 but the house is very inspired by it. And because it was my first house it got me used to the build system in sims. I specifically remember trying to figure out how I was gonna do this one section that is a room but has wrap around bookshelves with railings and a one step down into a little reading area. That was fun and after I figured out away to do that in sims I was really proud of how it turned out. Even wound up downloading a mod for bourbon so I could throw that everywhere since they drink that a lot in the show.
I absolutely love this build!! i'm a sucker for anything art deco and maximalist so I really love the decor in these apartments! I've never seen only murders in the building but this video alone has made me wanna watch it lmao

i've been watching only murders in the building since it first came out - in fact i waited for it to come out - and the way i instantly lit up when james mentioned it (especially since i was already thinking about it lmao... i definitely wanna rewatch the show now

This build loves amazing and very detailed. I would love to use it in my game. Unfortunately it is very pack heavy. It needs 13 out of 14 currently available expansions, all game packs plus several stuff packs and kits. I will need quite some time to replace those things that have been deleted. But I might go ahead anyway because I like the general build.

common amenities is something that I wish we'd seen integrated into the apartments in San Myshuno, so I'm really glad James is including them! I live in Boorloo/Perth and shared bbq's, pools and gyms are pretty common in big apartment blocks (and sometimes smaller ones too!) Edit to add: I love the hero image of descending into the courtyard, and it's so awesome to see James happy and proud of his work. It looks amazinggg!!!
You've inspired me! I have an old brick and copper apartment building built in 1896 in my city and a few years ago I built it and turned it into a club. As soon as I knew what this pack was I went and gutted it so I can now build it into the apartments it originally was built for. The bottom floor was always retail space and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it and I'll be borrowing some of your ideas lol Btw this looks great! I love the show too and you did a great job 👍

This build would be great with get together, the tenants and their friends can congregate in the various venues on the lot and work out, play games, and study with eachother. That would be a good way ti populate the spaces as well!
Service hallways and elevators are actually still a thing in most higher end buildings in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc. No one really has live-in help anymore, not even the rich, but they're used for moving furniture in/out or large deliveries and things like that so they don't interfere with the regular use elevators and hallways.

You did such an amazing job with this build. I'm actually incredibly impressed, i love the TV show and this build is amazing. I can wait to play in it

common amenities is something that I wish we'd seen integrated into the apartments in San Myshuno, so I'm really glad James is including them! I live in Boorloo/Perth and shared bbq's, pools and gyms are pretty common in big apartment blocks (and sometimes smaller ones too!)
Edit to add: I love the hero image of descending into the courtyard, and it's so awesome to see James happy and proud of his work. It looks amazinggg!!!

You've inspired me! I have an old brick and copper apartment building built in 1896 in my city and a few years ago I built it and turned it into a club. As soon as I knew what this pack was I went and gutted it so I can now build it into the apartments it originally was built for. The bottom floor was always retail space and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it and I'll be borrowing some of your ideas lol Btw this looks great! I love the show too and you did a great job 👍
This is so detailed, I’m very impressed! I have tried building apartment buildings before in the sims and I run out of steam every time haha, and they are not nearly this good!

This build would be great with get together, the tenants and their friends can congregate in the various venues on the lot and work out, play games, and study with eachother. That would be a good way ti populate the spaces as well!
Service hallways and elevators are actually still a thing in most higher end buildings in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc. No one really has live-in help anymore, not even the rich, but they're used for moving furniture in/out or large deliveries and things like that so they don't interfere with the regular use elevators and hallways.

I love Only Murders in the Building! I was watching something with Steve Martin from the early 2000s and my daughter was like ‘He’s familiar…’ and I said ‘That’s Brazos!’ haha. I love you did his kitchen and Putnam’s sage.
This build is amazing James! I’m a big fan of only murders in the building too and I think you did a great job. My favorite room is definitely Oliver’s theater room with the stage.😃
