Ooh! I usually play Sims with recreated characters from other media, and thinking how to apply their personality to their environment is one of my favorite parts 😌
This build does make sense, but was limited by TS4 capabilities at the time of release. It's supposed to be an old fish products processing factory (you can see a sign on the wall at 4:52), abandoned, of course, which is why half of the second floor doesn't have a roof. The original roofing is the one the first floor has, while the second floor has new, modern shingles. Also, it seems to have been renovated maybe by the Sim that lives here, on a limited budget, hence why you can still see some "beams" coming out of the second story into the walls, and different sets of stairs around the building. Overall, whoever built this made a pretty decent job, and had a great idea in mind but lacked the tools to execute it properly. Props to them.
I like how multi-unit homes lend themselves to more experimental decor, because you don't want to decorate each one the same. I love all the personality James has been adding to these builds!
I love how you don’t make your builds perfect! They feel organic and the way some furniture doesn’t fully match is really refreshing. Like they are builds I’d love playining in!
I love how everyone is just preparing themselves for the new DLC. Either by building or renovating existing houses to become apartments haha. Absolutely love it! Can't wait for this pack to come out and see every RUclipsr go insane with it for weeks.
James: sometimes kitchens are just too big and I think this is one of those times James 10 seconds later: this will actually be a relatively small kitchen 🤔
Loving all the apartment ideas and excitement people are showing and am I the only one who thinks the sims in the studio saw the other apartment had a hot tub got jealous and decided to improvise lol....but nono it’s totally for their pet lol
Yeah the smallest apartment would be fine for a cat owner. Just swap the extra bookcase for a cat tower. The high fences are perfect for semi-outside cat too
I always find it funny when James gets leery about his color choices. He actually has a good eye for color, but it's like he's second-guessing what colors are "supposed" to go together. "I'm not sure about the yellow and green", he says. It actually looks really good together, the soft yellows go well with the mint green and he put down the brown carpet that complements the greens and has some yellow tones that pulls the room together. I wouldn't question it if I saw it in an Architectural Digest.
James is such a dog person that he turned extreme cat lady Catarina Lynx’s house into apartments for dog owners. 😂😂😂😂 in the studio apartment that had no room for a bath, I was thinking you would stick a litter box in the courtyard and have it be a cat apartment - nope outside bath so it could still be a dog unit. 😂😂😂 I don’t know why this was so funny to me.
I set myself a challenge to convert a Maxis bldg in each residential world to apartments; I ended up making the museum in Brindleton into two large family units, though I wish I’d remembered about this lot instead!
You could still convert this lot into an apartment! There can be multiple apartments in a few worlds and this lot probably won't get much love otherwise. :D
I've started doing the same thing, one apartment building in each world. Some of them are conversions of Maxis builds, some are renovations of my own builds. It's become a really fun challenge! Some of my worlds have really nicely designed areas that I don't want to mess with, so it provides me with some hard choices. The main downtown area of Oasis Springs has been redeveloped in adobe & Spanish Revival styles. Each build fits just so. I ended up renovating the old Spanish Revival fire house on the far right corner that comes with a 4 slot parking lot at the back. It's perfect for an apartment build. It's part of the business district, but to the side. It's turned out far better than expected.
I live in an old Victorian built in the early 1800's, it's three stories and each floor has been turned into an apartment; we live in the second floor apartment. It's super awkward. Weird corners, our bedroom is weirdly long, 4 different kinds of flooring throughout. One very long hallway. It's a two bedroom with a "bonus" room -- basically, one room leads right into the other. We use it as an office. We also have 14 stained glass windows in our apartment alone (on one floor). They are cute but they are old and it is cold. You can tell the bathroom used to be much larger. We have an old soaker claw foot tub that's adorable and I hate it lol. So when building older houses converted into apartments, feel free to get a little weird, because they are. I live in Vermont, USA, btw.
I swear I was JUST looking at this one and thinking it could be at least 2 apartments with cool industrial features and balconies to take in that gorgeous view.
Apparently, there’ll be loading screens between apartments, so if that’s the case, the rooms / objects shouldn’t be visible and not cause too many issues. Having said that, A) decorating is cool, but also would be nice to do it according to the Sims’ likes and dislikes (either decorating once they’ve moved in or making Sims specifically for the particular place) and B) it’s “nice” to pretend the Sims who will move in, will have their own decos.
Final boss of apartment builds : you and Deli recreate the apartment complex you built in the sims 3 from your first video together. That was one of my favorite videos when it came out, but it would probably remove 10 years off your life if you tried it again😅
I’m turning the museum in willow creek in a triplex. One apartment at the bottom and two on the second level but the entrances for those are on the main floor. I can’t wait to play in it with the new pack.
I don't think I have ever clicked on this build ever. This is such a great idea. I would love to see starter actor duplexes in Dol Sol Valley as I am sure was intended when they made that world
I absolutely love this building. What drove me crazy was that you didn't extend the roof. All I could think about is that when it rains or snows, it will fall into the building. Because the first floor is open to the elements.

More industrial apartments! Love it, I like them more decorated, that way we can just make adjustments for the one we play in, and move some other sims in the others
I had my sim family play in this house for a long time and I fully renovated it to have 4 bedrooms and I loved it so much, I turned that upper balcony space on the 2nd floor into another bedroom.
As part of my Brindleton Bay Renovation Project I turned that building into the new museum. Well, I only got two-thirds of the way through this video before going off to convert this build into apartments myself! I closed off the outside area though to make more room. The "studio apartment" has a bedroom in mine, the other downstairs one has two bedrooms and the upstairs one has two bedrooms too, but a lot of space and more expensive appliances.
