      I was thinking about results. Which grill produces the best product, etc. I’ve had my Joe for many years, and a Traeger Ironwood for three years. There is a significant difference in product, with KJ winning on every taste and appearance metric. I just wonder if the LSG would produce results more comparable to my Kamado?

    Great introduction video John! I've had mine for about 7 months and love it. One of my favorite features is the ability to add lone star wood chips to the pellets (for those that want a lil extra kick off smoke flavor). Looking forward to seeing some cooking videos on this beast.

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! I will be making a lot of video content it this year. I may try some of the wood chips but this thing makes really great smoke for me so far with just the pellets. Can you tell a big difference when using the wood chips?

    • @sapphirefalls111
      @sapphirefalls111 6 месяцев назад +1

      I think it depends on the pellets. I've used some pellets that have almost no smoke flavor but others seem to be more robust on their own. I believe they offer hickory and oak chips, I've tried both and the hickory stands out more. I just mix 50/50 with pellets and works well.

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  6 месяцев назад

      @@sapphirefalls111 Awesome! I like cheap pellets... I am using the Pitt Boss blend from Walmart that is $40lbs for $15. I think they are Hickory, Oak, Maple, and Cherry or some combo like that.

    Hi John. Nice video. I would need a cover-I do not have a covered area to cook under. Video title says 20x46 but your words are 20x42.
    Short of emailing, I wonder if there was a military discount. I know you got a model to demo but I wonder about shipping costs. The grill sure is packed nice.

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the catch... I corrected my title. The grill is designated as 20x42. I don't know exactly what those numbers represent because the grill footprint is bigger than that and the largest grill grate is smaller than that. The website lists the grill dimensions as 58" wide by 63" tall by 34" deep. I don't know what the shipping costs are either because they are included in the price.

      The only thing I might like to have that I don't have is locking casters. The 5" casters do not lock. If you upgrade to the 8" casters, the two on the left have locks. That may or may not be an issue for you.

    Nice video John I'm needing to replace my aging Memphis pro.Good timing.Do you have any initial thoughts on how this compares to your Bark and Woodwind Pro other than your comments on smoke generation

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  6 месяцев назад +1

      The smoke production is visibly better than the BARQ. The Woodwind Pro has an advantage of the smoker box. With that tool you can actually over smoke stuff, but it requires constant attention. It's like a stick burner in that aspect. You have to feed the smoker box throughout the cook. it's only good for 30/40 minutes max.

    • @ManCaveMeals

  • @tgates811
    @tgates811 4 месяца назад +1

    How is that shelf holding up? Seems it would be prone to rust due to scratching of the paint with sliding dishes on and off. The stainless option makes sense but super expensive.

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  4 месяца назад +1

      Its holding up fine so far. I repainted mi e with a diferent theme, but you are right. If scratching and rust are something that bothers you, either get the SS upgrade or plan to maintain this one a little.

    That's a dream rig right there John. I've enjoyed watching Ballistic BBQ's channel and several others that have this grill. I'm looking forward to seeing some cooks on it by the great local legend, John Setzler. Is the fireboard a PID controller or does integrated temp swings cause more smoke?

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  6 месяцев назад

      It is a PID controller. I don't think the smoke being produced by this grill is a trick of the controller. I think it's in the firepot design but I don't know that for sure one way or another. All I know so far is that this produces more smoke on its own than any other pellet smoker I have used. The Camp Chef has the smoker box, but that requires babysitting to keep it going.

    Be careful with the probe hole left open when cooking or if it moves. Smoke will come out and strip the paint off the hopper. Maybe have to mod it if you don’t want that.

      I will keep my eyes open for that.

  • @tgates811

    What pellets were you using to get that good smoke? Did you have to add any chips? How would you compare the amount of smoke to an offset?

    • @ManCaveMeals
      @ManCaveMeals  4 месяца назад +1

      I am using Pitt Boss pellets from Walmart. I am not adding any wood chips to those pellets. It's hard for me to compare this to an offset. Offsets do produce a little bolder smoke profile. This pellet smoker produces an amazing smoke profile though. It's better than any of the other seven pellet smokers I have had. This LSG is "NEXT LEVEL" in the world of pellet smokers.
