I just watched the Lone Star Grillz video. He said the magic words that my ears have longed to hear without digging or calling for the answer. COLD SMOKE!
I got my LSG 2 months ago and LOVE it. Your unboxing video on it is what sold me, and I actually mentioned that to them in the feedback email after my order. The only thing I’ve noticed is my ribs seem to take longer than the old rinky electric smoker I had, but I followed your eye round video and made amazing roast beef sandwiches, did a crazy good ham, and can’t wait to make a turkey this thanksgiving. Speaking of thanks, thanks for putting out the vids you do. You inspired backyard fun in this subscriber many times!
Awesome Matt!!! There is a lot of metal in that pit that needs to get preheated first. I usually start mine before I even take the meat out of the fridge. Kind of just like I do when i fire up my offset. But once the pit is up to temp I can crush out ribs in 4ish hours with easy!!! Glad you are having fun with that pit brother and thank you for telling them that I inspired you to get one!!! Stay tuned hopefully I got a couple more LSG reviews coming in a few months!!!!! Thanks for watching!!
As a previous Qstoves+ user, I have to say, switching to Asmoke has been a game-changer for me. The precise temperature control that Asmoke provides has completely elevated my grilling experience. I love the smoky flavor the wood pellets add to my food. Plus, the convenience of being able to control everything from an app is just amazing. The portability and lightweight design make it perfect for outings, and the battery life is impressive. Honestly, the move to Asmoke has made grilling more enjoyable and effortless. It's not just a grill, it's a whole experience. #Asmoke
Fantastic and well put together video Ricer! I think I'm going to order all of them....., well I already have your top pick, so maybe I won't haha! I could have sworn I seen a dude in this video that looked just like my cousin Bubba 🧐
Awesome video Jeff! As the proud owner of a LSG 20x42 pellet smoker myself, I 100% agree with your #1 ranking! Best (and probably last) pellet smoker I'll ever own! Some of your earleor videos were among the reason why I finally chose my LSG. Happy holidays my BBQ brother!!
Heck ya Jeff! Glad I helped you out with your decision. The LSG is a beast and it will still be running while other pits are recycled into beer cans! Thanks for watching and happy holidays to you and yours!!
Having been a Qstoves+ user for years, I recently switched to Asmoke and the difference is phenomenal. The digital controller is a game-changer, allowing precise temperature control that Qstoves+ simply couldn't match. The ability to select from various wood pellet flavors has also truly elevated my grilling game. Not to mention the portability of the Asmoke grill! The rechargeable battery is a dream come true, allowing me to take it to tailgates and camping trips. It's lighter, smaller, and the ASCA™ technology ensures a clean and efficient cook every time. I also love that Asmoke's commitment to being environmentally friendly by using wood pellets made from recycled materials. The switch to Asmoke has changed my grilling experience for the better. Highly recommended! #Asmoke
I have an LSG pellet from the first production run. That is a smoky boy. I love it. I have an LSG 24x36 vertical with a 1/2" fire box but I don't use it much any more. Takes a lot of fuel to fire up.
I have RecTec and LSG and use both. Can't beat LSG for ribs but i use RecTec for turkey due to temp control, holds witin 5 degrees. LSG has wide temp swings which does generate more smoke.
YA but the overall pit temp on the LSG holds that close on the actual pit temp. I have had probes all over my LSG and there isn't that big of a temp swing during that 2-3 minute cycle. Just because a controller says something doesn't mean it is actually true. It all depends on what they programmed in the controller. Most Chinese pellet grill controllers take an average and display it. I have had probe all over in the RecTec's that I have owned in the past and they are all over the board when you use an immediate temp reading probe. Thanks for watching!
Still love my LSG pellet grill. Getting ready to do our Thanksgiving turkey on it. Thanks for the solid review on it. Was a factor in my decision to order it up over a year ago.
Heck ya Richard!!! I knew you would love that pit!!!! You will crush that turkey cook for sure!!!! Thanks for watching and enjoy your Thanksgiving with the family!!!
What a great video Boss Man. I see I made another cameo too. The LSG is the best smoker I have ever ran. Glad to see it's still raining supreme. I can't wait to see what video you have cooking up next
Ya Eric, you are also part of the traveling crew so I had to get you in on this one!!! I might have a pit coming next year that could take the #1 spot but I have sworn to secrecy!!! Don't worry once I know for sure you will be one of the first people to know!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Thanks CJ!!!! You will get one someday brother!!! Ole Godzilla takes a beating but has never even come close to failing me yet!! Thanks for watching bro and I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving!!
Great Video Thanks, I was looking at the LS & the Pitts & Spitts settled on the P&S with cage . It was very close came down to door lifting and marine Stainless with no rust !
Thanks Jeff - I'm so glad I bought the 24" Woodwind PRO - Sadly, it came really late in the seeason, here in Eastern Canada and I barely got it broken in before the season ended here. - I'm looking forward to fantastic cooks next season! - Cheers!!
Dang Garry, well at least you will be ready next year!! You can run them in the winter if you get really hungry!!! hahaha Glad you enjoyed the video and I always appreciate you watching!!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Living here in Canada, I should certainly pick up the the "blanket" for this awesome pellet grill. - I have my eye on the sidekick as well. Sadly, my deck is elevated with few trees around, and I live next to a wide-open golf course - so it is often very 'brezzy' here in the fall/winter months where there are no leaves on any of the trees. I always gain a lot of knowkedge and entertainment from each of your videos - ...and... "Thak's all I got"... - lol - Cheers!
Great list Ricer. I want that LSG but will settle for my SmokeFire for now. Since your review of the Stealth, I've been using a water pan in my SF and it really made a difference. You're not just a pretty face, you also gots some knowledge son LOL
Hahahahaha well I am glad I could help ya out Troy!!!! Nothing wrong with the SF!!! I like that pit and enjoy running it, for sure it is a great GRILL and a decent smoker!!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!!
LSG 💯 You can now buy wood chips from Lone Star to mix with pellets. They have the best team and always get back to you, the way customer service should be. If you going to spend the $ LSG is #1
I agree Steve!!! That wood chip deal is fantastic!! Sad thing was I completely forgot to mention that in this video!!!! Oh well I might be getting another LSG in a few months so I will mention that then!! Thanks for watching!!
Love my LSG Pellet grill (and Large IVS from them too). Glad it topped your list. That removable burn pot in the bottom is a game changer for easy cleanouts between smaller cooks. Was curious how the Camp Chef with the wood chute compared flavor wise?
The LSG still beats the Camp Chef. Only time I really can say I notice a difference is when I keep adding charcoal during the cook. It is a very nice feature on the CC. I hope to see more box store pellet grills do the same. Nothing beats my LSG offset but their pellet grill is a very close 2nd!!! Thanks for watching!!
Heck ya Mike and thanks for watching brother!!! Just needed to finally answer the question that I get the most and I figured I better bring the proof in the pudding!!! hahaha
Objectively correct number 1. There are a couple pellet pits that will let you use wood chunks, so they might produce more smoke flavor, but if you're going to put wood on the fire every 40-60 minutes, you may as well just use a stick burner and get a better product for the same work. I'd like to get that LSG pellet smoker one of these days, but the deck needs to be rebuilt first and that project looks like it'll be a few years away.
Lots of truth to adding the wood chunks, just save your change because sometime in 2024, I should hopefully be announcing the pellet grill that will blow up the internet!! Thanks for watching!!!
Ya that is an awesome pit and I should one of those in here early 2024 to get some videos done on it. But trust me, the one I am hinting at, is even fricking better. I can't even believe that someone is finally going to build "MY" ultimate pit!!! Again thanks for watching!!!
you got my attention, was going to pull the trigger on the LSG, looking for the best smoke profile on a pellet I can get, I bought the Hasty Bake legacy, nice pit, but still a lot of dang work, I am lazy, ha
Great video. I have a MAK 2* & I get really great smoke flavor on it. It also does high heat very well. My only complaint on it is that it could use some upgrades that the newer grills have. Thanks again for the reviews.
Heck ya!! MAK's are nice pits too!! I agree, the new pits with their features and options make it easier to go with them over a MAK or RecTeq. Thanks for watching!!
Spitting facts brother!!! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving!!! Ps... I might be getting a pellet grill that will over take Godzilla and be the new Big Dawg. I am sworn to secrecy but I know you will also be impressed with this new innovated pit!!!
You have 2 really nice pits but the LSG will crush them both. I am not just saying that, I have cooked on them all and the LSG's design and build quality is incredible and smokes more than any pellet grill on the market. Thanks for watching!!
I have the Ironwood XL and also hated the big ugly wheels. Luckily you can order 2 of the left hand legs with casters and easily swap them out. Problem fixed! KIT0708 and KIT0711 from Traeger 🤘
Heck ya Eric!!! I am down to 11 or 12 cookers right now. I honestly can't remember how many I had in the past couple year!?!?!? I wish I could keep them all but last spring I had 10 in my neighbors garage, 12 or 14 in my driveway and 5 in my studio!! Sounds like a problem if you ask me!!! hahaha Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video brother!!
RecTeq is a great pit but it is the same as it is pretty much the same pit as it was 10 years ago, so it isn't going to make my top 5 list of the best. They need to add an easy clean out system and at least get their features in the 2020's. Thanks for watching Dave!!!
I agree with you. They are complacent with what they are selling. I`m happy with my 590, but they could make some upgrades but have not. If it works don`t fix it, I guess.@@DeadBrokeBBQ
Great review/comparison. I would have been disappointed had the LSG not come in 1'st place. It's the only pellet cooker i will consider even though i know there are some good ones out there. But i still need to get my Santa Maria before I get that pellet. Have a great day sir.
Heck ya Victor!! Old Godzilla is still the best but I might be getting a new pellet grill in the Summer of 24 that could actually beat out this pit and become the new #1 Pellet Grill ever made!!! I am sworn to secrecy but this pit is amazing!!!! Thanks for watching brother!!! I am busy getting my next video done but I will give you a call very soon!! I am praying for you bud!!
@DeadBrokeBBQ that you for your prayers. Honestly I think I need them for putting up my first contract even more than the foit/leg. The leg is healing very nicely and quickly. But can you imagine how difficult it must be settling up and using a pit no matter how great it is from a wheelchair? Luckily it should only be about 1 more month then learn how to cook, fish, garden, hike, etc with a fake leg and foot. I wonder how many sympathy points I can now make with the ladies? Something I need to look into. 😁😆😅🤣😂
GREAT RATING JEFF , I AGREE 100% ON THE LSG PIT AND IT WILL LAST OUR LIFETIME AND OUR SONS LIFETIME FOR SURE . IT IS NOT AS POPULAR AS THE BIG BOX STORE PITS BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT UNLESS THE WATCH A GREAT RUclips VIDEO LIKE YOURS.
Agree Rod but Chris is selling more and more pits and the best thing about an LSG, the pit will be made for decades!!! Thanks for watching brother and I am glad you enjoyed the video!!
Ya dude, I love that pit!!!! That rotisserie has me drooling just thinking about cooking prime rib and chicken in that pit!!! I thought about it but I think I am going to get the new cabinet pellet grill because that would really give me the room I need when I cater!!! I am sworn to secrecy but there is a pit coming that might blow up the internet in about 6 months or so!!! So stay tuned!!!! hahaha
@@DeadBrokeBBQ looking forward to it I always have my Shirley stick burner that will hold up to 20 butts but you gotta feed it wood every 45 minutes or so. The LSG is hassle free and can run while you sleep. 😀
Ya and I enjoy sleeping on these over night cooks these days!! Ha ha that Shirley pit you got is amazing bro!! I think next up, more jerky but venison. Deer hunting season starts here on Saturday!! Talk soon brother!
Great video. I’ve been town between the LSG and Woodwond Pro for a while. The question being is the LSG $2000 better than the WWP? I can get one but not both. Almost ordered the Lonestar 3 times but then look at the WWP with sidekick. Had camp chef for years and love them but the LSG. Already sold my Yoder to buy next rig. Love to see a cool off and more time on the LSG. Thanks for the videos great job.
Well if you buy a Camp Chef, someday I will be drinking beer out of the recycled cans your Camp Chef made, while I watch a brisket cook on my same LSG. The LSG beats the WW Pro in flavor and build quality. You are just wasting time and money if you go with the Camp Chef over the LSG. Thanks for watching!
I am currently looking for a pellet grill to add to my grilling problem. I am curious as to why lots of folks seem to love the traeger ironwood over the timberline xl. Any idea? And is the xl still having some tech issues? Love love the lone star. Ugh - so many choices. And - now I’m curious which pit might break the internet in 6 months…..thanks for the great content!!
The only reason why the Ironwood is more popular, is the price. $1,800 compared to $3,500. The Timberline is a very nice pit and I run mine still. Actually ran a bunch of chicken through it yesterday for the high school basketball team. ha ha But if you can afford the Timberline, you are better off buying the Lone Star Grillz. Every viewer that has purchased one, comes back later and thanks me for helping them out. The LSG will still be running while the Traeger's will be recycled into Bud Light cans. The pit that will break the internet is going to be pricy but it will be the best. Fingers crossed final design is approved in the Spring of 2024. Thanks for watching!
I wheeled my Trager out to the curb and put a "Working Grill - Free" sign on it after getting my Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. The Trager had problems the whole time I owned it, glad to see it gone. (It took two days before someone even hauled it off for free, so that might say something). The smoke box on the Camp Chef makes it perform better than ANY other pellet grill in its price range. You can get two Camp Chefs for the price of even the cheapest Lone Star so the comparison is a bit skewed.
I say nothing about price, I say these are MY top five. But you will own 5 Camp Chefs and my boys will be fighting over my LSG when I am 6 foot deep, just saying.
Another great Video Ricer and you know I agree with you on the LSG being top dog. 🤣 I hope you can get back to doing your cooking Vids. I know the reviews of new products keeps things rolling for you but I really miss your cooking posts. Your one of the best out there. Happy Holidays and smoke on Brother.
Heck ya Jerry, I have a bunch of sausage cooks planned and a prime rib again!!! I hope to do about 6- 8 BBQ type of cook videos this year!! Happy holidays to you and yours brother and I am so happy you know what I mean, when I say, the LSG is hands down the best Pellet Grill made!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Have you ever used a cook shack PG 500. By far best steak or fast cooking smoker I’ve ever used. Pours out smoke and is more like a normal fire box smoker with the smoking side being totally indirect cooking with no flame or heat coming from underneath. And with commercial grade build and thick stainless it something you buy and might have to rebuild every 10 years but the shell never wears out. Ran one for 12 years and still looked new. Would just scrub with an sos pad every 6 mos.
Off topic but gotta know your thoughts…. Have you used the new PitBoss Titan? I’m torn between buying it or the Traeger Ironwood XL. Any thoughts on it? It’d really help my decision. Curious about the smoke flavor from one to the other.
I have not owned a Titan yet so I have to lean towards the Ironwood just because I know that pit runs like a champ! All the Pit Boss models I have had do a good job too but the controllers are not as good IMO. Thanks for watching and sometimes you just need to flip a coin!!
Money aside I'd honestly have to agree with this list. I wish I could afford the LSPG, but I have my eye on the El Patron now. I'm still old school and like fire.
Heck ya the El Patron is an incredible pit!!!!!! I want one of those too!!! hahaha I like having a pellet grill for times like the past 2 days while I filmed and edited this video. Check the app and pull it off the pit!! But hands down I enjoy running my offset the most!! Thanks for watching!!
Any thoughts on cleaning that raised expanded steel grate in the LSG? I know Dash over at SDSBBQ says in so many words, its a pita to clean vs flat expanded steel so that leads me to think it might be worth the extra coin to upgrade to the laser cut 304 grates.
Not a fan of them but I have cleaned grates that are worse but someday I would love to test out the laser cut!!! Thanks for watching and Dash is a great fella!!!
Ya if I owned a Yoder it would be my #2. It is made out of thinner steel, doesn't smoke as much, and can't run wood chips like a LSG can. I have cooked on Yoders that my buddies owned at one time but they both got rid of them and now own a Lone Star Grillz. Thanks for watching!!!!
Hey Bud what a great review of your Top 5! I had no idea these plug ins had such talent and produced such amazing food! The De Niro eyes 7:45 were awesome!! Happy Thanksgiving Jeff to you and your family!
Ya Rob, the biggest reason why I like pellet grills is, I don't have to tend a fire and I still get great tasting food!!! Glad you enjoyed the video Rob and I hope you and the family have a fantastic Turkey Day too!!!!
Nice video, BTW you should make more videos, I really like your channel and it sucks that you haven't posted anything in months, keep doing the good work
Thank you!!! I am running 2 channels now, check me out at www.youtube.com/@SmokedBBQSource right here on RUclips. I got more videos planned for this channel too but right now I am trying to build their library first. I really appreciate the kind words!!!
I'm going to save up for a Lone Star. I finally got back into using a little Pit Boss that I got for free and man BBQ is yummy. Lone Star seems to be the best value for a premium American made product. I'm not looking to drop $4k plus on a grill and don't need the features they offer. Even three grand is tough to justify for a grill and purchase that might happen two years from now.
They offer financing! hahaha But save up and when you get it at least it will last for decades! Thanks for watching and keep filling up those piggy banks!!!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Thanks for the reply man. I do my best not to finance toys or things, but someday I'll own one. Just gotta keep working and saving pennies for things with dollar value.
Another great review and your always a great watch. I live in the Uk and probably have the only LSG Pellet here and luckily have USA offsets to compare it against. It’s that good that I wouldn’t bat an eyelid which I use and because of its super performance an offset or two will be going.😢
Heck ya brother!!! That is super awesome that you got a LSG pellet over there!!!! I agree, closest to an offset for a pellet grill! Lone Star Grillz certainly made a smoker out of this pellet grill!! I appreciate you leaving a comment and thanks for watching!!!!
Thanks for throwin' out the PB Elite at the end Ricer!! 😉😛It was really a toss up between the Camp Chef & the Elite but good to know all of these great products rank & cook well. Happy Thanksgiving!! 🦃
Heck ya brother!!! The reason why the Elite didn't make the list is only because that Camp Chef APEX is a complete outdoor kitchen. Again these are my top 5 but ALL of them can get the job done!! Thanks for watching!!!
Question, I come from the kamado world… thinking of getting an offset but with two small kids I know I won’t be able to give it it’s time. Looking at pellet grill. From your experience , is the LSG cooker giving the most bark, smoke, of any other pellet smoker? I know it won’t be an offset but that food looked amazing
Hands down the LSG Pellet Grill is the closest that I have ever owned to come close to my offset in flavor!!! This pit was built like an offset and if I could only own ONE, the Lone Star Grillz would be it!! Thanks for watching!!
Great video! I’ve got 3 of your top 5 and love each of them for the exact reasons that you mentioned. I’m planning a cookoff between the LSG and WWPro here after thanksgiving…. I’ve gotta know who takes the crown on some brisket!
Heck ya Andrew!!! I really like all pits and can find things that they do a good job at but these here fill my needs and that is why they are the top 5!!! That sounds like a great comparison!!! I am leaning towards the LSG to win by a tad but the Pro certainly performs well!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!
Hi :) I live in Australia and we don't have suppliers of Lone Star. I have looked around. I'm really curious as to why the Oklahoma Joe DLX didn't make the top 5 in your list. I am looking to get one. I have seen a lot of pellet smokers and I really want the sear function. I have had a PitBoss Navigator 850, but the sear area is terrible. Thanks for reading my comment.
OK Joe is an ok pellet grill. Just not built the best and the only really good feature is the sear zone. I am still not happy with the controller as much as these brands. Ya the Lone Star Grillz pellet is not easy to get outside of America. Thanks for watching!!!
I’m currently looking into upgrading my pellet smoker, as mine doesn’t produce enough smoke flavor. Looking at the WWP, but seeing your vid makes me look into the LSG. If LSG is all pellet how does it produce better smoke flavor?
Because of the airflow and the pit design produces way more smoke by having the fire pot below the cooking chamber. The controller programing has a lot to do with it too. You can also run a pellet and wood chip mix through the LSG. The only time the WWP really changed to flavor in my tests is when I added charcoal to it, not really a difference when I add wood chunks. But the WWP is better than a standard box store pellet grill made in China when it comes to some enhanced flavor. The bonus is though, the LSG is a lifetime pit. The cooking chamber will last your lifetime unless you store it in the ocean or a salt mine. I will be drinking beer out of a recycled WWP in 10 years while I watch the smoke roll on my LSG aka Godzilla. Thanks for watching!!
Another great video Jeff! You definitely did a great job with this list! Hope to purchase one in the near future but for know I’ll just enjoy your content 🤣. Hopefully you have some more videos soon! Hope you and the family have a awesome Thanksgiving 🦃! Cheers brother 🍻
Heck ya George!! I plan to keep filming for a while brother!! I got a couple regular cooks planned and a bunch of sausage videos that I am gearing up for!! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the family!!!
Wisconsin guy... will the roller sector on the camp chef controller freeze up outside?..... I have an older Pit Boss and I'm not getting enough smoke ring...even low and slow. seems to leak out. It's my first smoker and I'm looking on moving up without paying a ton... just a casual smoker. thoughts?
Very interested in the Lone Star Grill. Went to the website and was concerned about 14 weeks for delivery. Another issue was their video stated front shelf was included, but when ordering it’s a nearly $300 add on. Might have to order a Recteq as I’ll never buy another Treager product as mine has had issues since new.
I think the add on is the stainless steel version. The wait is killer but it is so worth it when it arrives but Yoder makes a thinner steel version that doesn't smoke as much and is not as heavy duty as the LSG, so that is also an option. But if you want a tank, you got to wait. Thanks for watching!
It would come in second. I really like Yoder’s pellet grills. But with that said it can’t match the LSG. There are a few large bbq RUclipsrs that have switched from Yoder to a Lone Star Grillz pellet and I have 2 friends that sold their Yoder 640’s after they saw “Godzilla” in action. Thanks for watching!
Well I did take a little time off to chill with the family but RUclips doesn't share my videos with all my subs. It gets a little irritating!!! Glad you found this one and thanks for watching!!!
im trying to decide between the woodwind pro 36 and ironwood XL. I can get them for close to the same price after a teacher discount on the traeger. how big is the difference in smoke flavor between the 2 when adding wood chunks to the Woodwind pro? i like the traegers newer controller and how the pellets drop into the firepit so theres no chance of backburn back into the hopper but everything else i like more on the woodwind pro. if you had to pick 1 witch would you choose?
Well the Woodwind Pro ended up at #2 right ahead of the Traeger so that pretty much sums it up. I f i had to choose I would get the 36" Camp Chef WW Pro with the sidekick. Camp Chef's controller and app is very nice too, just doesn't have the automatic burn off feature that the Ironwood does that you do ONE time. Thanks for watching!!
i didnt see a pit boss pit in there so is it safe to say that given the choice between the pit pro series 1600 elite or the camp chef woodwind pro 36 you would choose the camp chef?
I see you didn't mention the Smoke Daddy Pellet Pro, what's your opinion on it? I like the "Heavy D" accessory, same concept as the smoke box on the woodwind pro.
I really like what Smoke Daddy has for pits but it is time for an update and add some new features. Everything I ran on them turned out great, thanks for watching!!
Yep, I have ran a couple YS640's, they are a nice pit but the LSG is just better. When you compare the specs and the final product, my LSG just can't be beat. Thanks for watching!!
I was wondering what you thought of green mountain grill. They made prime 2.0 I like it but mot sure how well it runs or how good it will be in the winter. Was looking at Trigger ironwood XL and LSG. I have been on the fence for 2 months now. And can't make up my mind.
There is only one choice, Lone Star Grillz. GMG makes a nice pellet grill but I will be drinking beer out of your recycled GMG while I am still cooking on my 3/16th American steel LSG. Plus the controller on the LSG is twice as good too!! The LSG is a buy once cry once pit. Thanks for watching!!
I currently have a Pitt Boss. It was great until it caught fire and the paint melted off. Looking for a pellet grill that has much less risk of fire under $900. Any suggestions?
Oh ya the Pit Boss Elite is my top 6 but with all these pits sitting in my garage the Elite was the always the last one I would run. Great all around pit but right now these are my top 5 pellet grills that I have ran in the past couple years. Thanks for watching!!
It is ok and I got one, just never did a review on it yet. I am not very happy how loud it is to be honest. Plus the pizza insert doesn't work that great. They are ok but I would buy a Camp Chef over a Ledge. Thanks for watching!
Any of their 24" models. The Pro is a little more in cost but so worth it in the long run, you can always add the sidekick down the road! The only thing about the ledge, if you want to run it off a car battery but with that then you deal with the noise. When it comes down to their performance, most box store pellet grills all end up with producing about the same final product. It all ends up being what type of features are you looking for and Camp Chef IMO, is the best right now!
I hope Traeger stepped up their game. Two years ago I did a side by side build, not performance comparison on Green Mountain Grill and Traeger. Green Mountain Grill is built like a Military Tank compared to Traeger.
Have you or will you review The pit boss pro titan? I like the woodwind pro but the pit boss has some nice features of its own. Would like to see a head-to-head comparison between the competition series Titan and the woodwind pro 36
@jeffmohler6880 the new Searwood is a very nice option for a jack of all trades. I used the griddle in it this weekend and impressed with how well that worked!
I like the lonestar grillz pellet smoker but I had to go with the pitts and spitts maverick 1250. The smoke cage has been a game changer. Heavy duty build and made in Texas. The innovation has gotten a lot better as the years go by. 🤙
Heck ya, I would love to try out a Pitts and Spitts someday!! They also make a nice beefy long lasting pit!!! Thanks for watching and in 6 months or so I might be sharing a pit that will break the internet but I am sworn to secrecy for now, sorry!!! hahaha
@@-MOYST- I think it’s not for everyone. I load actual big wood chunks every 30 mins to 45. only until whatever protein I’m cooking reaches 160. The pit burns actual wood and provides amazing results. comparing the 2 pits doesn’t do either justice. LSG pellet smoker is great for personnel who don’t want to bother entertaining the pit but will still get awesome results. Pitts and spitts with the smoke cage is for those who don’t bother dropping a couple wood chunks here and there to enhance there product. IMO pitts and spitts innovated and crushed the woodwind pro and 100 percent provides closer flavor to an offset. It all just comes down to preferences. Regardless my 2 cents.🤙
@@-MOYST-- The smoke cage literally burns wood, and produces good smoke - and it’s pretty easy to use. It’s not gimmicky. The smoke cage is a fantastic option if you want to use it.
Heck ya Rusty, I love the firebox on the Camp Chef!!! I hope in about 6 months from now I got another pit to share with everyone, this pit might break the internet but I am sworn to secrecy for now, so stay tuned!!!!!!!!! hahahahha Thanks for watching brother!!
Have you seen sams club member mark 36" pro series pellet grill? there is 2 of them, 1 is the old version and they just released a new one with induction burner side with a smoke tray for 500 bucks and double insulated
Ya Kevin, I am happy I helped talk you into getting one!!! The LSG is an incredible pit and it has never failed me yet!!! Thanks for watching brother!!
I like Yoders!!! They make a good pit and hopefully one of these days I get one!?!?!?! I will say I have a couple friends that had them but now after then ran mine, they also have a LSG!!! hahahha Thanks for watching!!
I have owned a couple and they are good pit. They have the same exact technology and limited features they had back in 2016, time they do some revamping. Thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Thanks for the reply and that’s good to know, I own a Green Mountain plus four other grills and smokers. I was told Weber has another revision to theirs coming out in 2024, new controller n such, plus their customer service is so good. Anyway, hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
tried talking my wife in getting a campchef and that was a big no so got a blackstone griddle instead and making a lot of chicken stir fry, chicken fry rice, eggs, bacon, pancakes.
You are eating good though and that is the most important part!!! Before I started doing this gig, I saved forever to get my first pellet grill and by the time I got one I just started my RUclips channel. I am very happy to cook on any pit that works and makes good food!! Thanks for watching!!
I love my camp chef Woodwind pro, smoke box makes all the difference. The downside is the build quality is garbage. I still use it all the time, due to the smoke box. I have a rec tec rt700 and a BFG and they are awesome, fantastic build quality just wish they had the smoke box.
Your boys could start their own BBQ consulting business with all their XP. Excellent video Jeff, polished out the wazoo in a good way. Must be the juice. =)
Hahahaha ya Brian, I told them they need to put an ad out on Facebook that they will assemble peoples grills and get them fire up for them!!! hahahaha Thanks for watching brother and I appreciate you see the work in the edit!!!!!
Have you had a chance to check out the just released Grilla Mammoth? I've been losing sleep for about a month going back and forth between the Campchef Woodwind Pro 36 and the Mammoth since I've owned a Silverbac for about 6 years.
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. Now I shall return to debating the WW Pro or The Mammoth or the New Masterbuilt coming in April. I'm going to drive myself crazy
@@DeadBrokeBBQ that's kind of my mentality now. MBs have a lot of fans but they are also the first to tell you they spend hundreds modding them. There's a new model due out in April I think but it's still mostly fiberglass.
Ya it is #6 for this list. But top 5 for standard box store pits. The reason why the APEX beat it out is mainly because how innovated it is. The Weber is my favorite pellet grill just to grill on. Really works great for that but if I had just pic one between the Elite and the Smokerfire, it is the Elite. Very hard to do a Top 5 video when I have had so many pellet grills!! Thanks for watching!!
Hopefully one of these days I get one in to test out. But I have 2 friends that "had" YS-640's but now they have a LSG after seeing mine in action. Thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I have heard that they are amazing but their lead time is long. So if you have friends with them was it worth the switch. I got Yoder from a place delivered on comp cart for 1000 cheaper and in a week.
I just watched the Lone Star Grillz video. He said the magic words that my ears have longed to hear without digging or calling for the answer. COLD SMOKE!
Thanks for watching!!
Hahahaha ya Bubba and I go way back!!! hahaha Glad you enjoyed the video Rus and I know the LSG is your #1 also!!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Ya, I was one of the first to get one also, great pit!!! Thanks for watching!!
@jeffrice6009 I'm no rookie. I'm just saying what I've found with mine. And yes with multiple probes.
This is got to be one of your best videos ever. But next time if you could throw in a little more B-roll, that would be great 😂
Hahahahaha ya I had a few more clips I wanted to add but I already filled up 2 Samsung 1T SSD cards!!!!! hahahah Thanks for watching Justin!!!
I have the Grilla grill silverback for 7 years ….. hundreds of smokes …. Stored outside not one spot of rust …..
Thanks love your stuff keep up the great work. My 42” LSG pellet smoker got delivered today.
AWESOME!!!!! I hope you are having fun with the new pit!!!!! More videos coming on all kinds of different stuff!! Thanks for watching!!
Great video Ricer! Would love any of them, but that Loan Star is goals for sure. Cheers brother!
You got a good one too! Thanks for watching!
Outstanding video brother! Good timing with this one it should help a lot of people!
Heck ya Mike and thanks for watching brother!!! Just needed to finally answer the question that I get the most and I figured I better bring the proof in the pudding!!! hahaha
Mike must've listened to you Ricer, he finally got an LSG too! @@DeadBrokeBBQ
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I just found out to night LSG released a pellet cabinet smoker with a ton more space, so that’ll be hard to beat 😂
@@DeadBrokeBBQ im still waiting to know this 😂
Great video.
Excellent recap of the features. I was not surprised by the number 1 on your list👍😊
Heck ya Bobbi!! Glad you enjoyed the video and have a great week!!! Like always thanks for watching!!
Of course its LSG @ # 1. ❤❤❤ i love mine and its just the best out there bar none.
Yoder and my all Stainless Memphis I have found to be the best for smoke, maintaining temp and turning out a consistent product.
You have 2 really nice pits but the LSG will crush them both. I am not just saying that, I have cooked on them all and the LSG's design and build quality is incredible and smokes more than any pellet grill on the market. Thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQEXACTLY!
I have the Ironwood XL and also hated the big ugly wheels. Luckily you can order 2 of the left hand legs with casters and easily swap them out. Problem fixed! KIT0708 and KIT0711 from Traeger 🤘
Awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Great video Ricer! How many grills/smokers have you owned and or own?
Heck ya Eric!!! I am down to 11 or 12 cookers right now. I honestly can't remember how many I had in the past couple year!?!?!? I wish I could keep them all but last spring I had 10 in my neighbors garage, 12 or 14 in my driveway and 5 in my studio!! Sounds like a problem if you ask me!!! hahaha Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video brother!!
Surprised no mention of Rec Teq! My Bull 700 has never failed me and is built like a tank.
RecTeq is a great pit but it is the same as it is pretty much the same pit as it was 10 years ago, so it isn't going to make my top 5 list of the best. They need to add an easy clean out system and at least get their features in the 2020's. Thanks for watching Dave!!!
Agreed, But have you seen their latest introductions?@@DeadBrokeBBQ

I love my LSG pellet and I may buy the new LSG. El patron. It will go great with my collection
Ya dude, I love that pit!!!! That rotisserie has me drooling just thinking about cooking prime rib and chicken in that pit!!! I thought about it but I think I am going to get the new cabinet pellet grill because that would really give me the room I need when I cater!!! @@DeadBrokeBBQ looking forward to it I always have my Shirley stick burner that will hold up to 20 butts but you gotta feed it wood every 45 minutes or so. The LSG is hassle free and can run while you sleep. 😀

I agree the LSG pellet grill is fantastic.
Heck ya brother, it is the only pellet grill that I have ran that comes in very close to my offset!!! Thanks for watching!!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQBOOM! Truth is hard.
Thanks for watching!
as someone looking to buy a smoker in Spring of 2024... I am excited @@DeadBrokeBBQ
Traeger’s are junk. Got rid of mine too. Yoder for the win.
I say nothing about price, I say these are MY top five. But you will own 5 Camp Chefs and my boys will be fighting over my LSG when I am 6 foot deep, just saying.
Another great Video Ricer and you know I agree with you on the LSG being top dog. 🤣
I hope you can get back to doing your cooking Vids.
I know the reviews of new products keeps things rolling for you but I really miss your cooking posts.

@@DeadBrokeBBQ thanks a lot. You’re the man.
Curious how you guys feel about Recteq's latest grill lineup they rolled out in October/November 2023.
The Flagship 1100, and Backyard Beast 1000.

I have a Yoder ys640s it's hard to beat, just. Love it. That lone star looked to be it's equal though.
Sorry, but they're not equal. The LSG is heads above.

Need to check out the Pitts and Spitts pellet smoker. It’s top notch!!
I hope to get one on staff eventually!! I have a couple buddies that own one!!! Thanks for watching!!!!
It is top notch, but still notches below the LSG. Sorry.

I love my Yoder YS640S. That last pellet grill does look pretty sweet though.
Yoder makes a good pit too! Thanks for watching!!
Got rid of my ys640 after the first cook with my LSG.
Thanks for replying! I understand now :D I reeeeally need the sear function. Will have to settle the Joe.@@DeadBrokeBBQ
@@DeadBrokeBBQ which LSG do you recommend?

Wisconsin guy... will the roller sector on the camp chef controller freeze up outside?..... I have an older Pit Boss and I'm not getting enough smoke ring...even low and slow. seems to leak out. It's my first smoker and I'm looking on moving up without paying a ton... just a casual smoker. thoughts?
Should be fine and it is wifi bluetooth so you can always run it off your phone. Thanks for watching!!
What's your thoughts on Yoder? How close to the top 5 would they be?
It would come in second. I really like Yoder’s pellet grills. But with that said it can’t match the LSG. There are a few large bbq RUclipsrs that have switched from Yoder to a Lone Star Grillz pellet and I have 2 friends that sold their Yoder 640’s after they saw “Godzilla” in action.
Nice job man. The Lone Star is killer.
Thanks Tommy!!!! I hope someday you you get one in your backyard too!! You deserve another WWII tank cooker!! ha ha
What are your thoughts on the Pitts and Spits Maverick and how it compares to the Lone Star Grillz?
Nice pit but I would still go with a LSG. Thanks for watching!
Love that you are from Wisconsin!
Heck ya!!
i didnt see a pit boss pit in there so is it safe to say that given the choice between the pit pro series 1600 elite or the camp chef woodwind pro 36 you would choose the camp chef?
I say at the end that Pit Boss would be my #6. I would buy the CC Pro 36" over the PB Elite. Thanks for watching!
Nicely done Ricer ! I see you took one for the team and did the “difficult “ stack assembly on theLSG ! Lol
Hahahahaha ya Kent, they were at football practice, so I had no choice but to do it myself!!!! hahahaha Thanks for watching brother!!!
LSG makes a great grill but curious if you've ever looked at the Yoder grills. They're also made here in the US and use the same Fireboard controller.
Yep, I have ran a couple YS640's, they are a nice pit but the LSG is just better. When you compare the specs and the final product, my LSG just can't be beat. Thanks for watching!!
I got rid of my Yoder after cooking on my LSG.
I was wondering what you thought of green mountain grill. They made prime 2.0
I like it but mot sure how well it runs or how good it will be in the winter.
What extra things do I need to get with lsg. I hear to get the oil drain and of course the cover. Anything else I need to get for this grill
I currently have a Pitt Boss. It was great until it caught fire and the paint melted off. Looking for a pellet grill that has much less risk of fire under $900. Any suggestions?
Camp Chef, RecTeq, and Traeger all make decent pits in that price range. Thanks for watching!!
I'm sad you didn't mention the Pit Boss. The wood fuelled sear zone and value for money is incredible.
Oh ya the Pit Boss Elite is my top 6 but with all these pits sitting in my garage the Elite was the always the last one I would run. Great all around pit but right now these are my top 5 pellet grills that I have ran in the past couple years. Thanks for watching!!
I have the Elite and just love it. Best one I've owned so far. I think for the price you can't go wrong .
@@DeadBrokeBBQtell me you sold out without telling me you sold out 😅
Whats your take on the GMG Ledge? Could of buddys of mine have the Peak. They really like them. Ledge would be my choice
It is ok and I got one, just never did a review on it yet. I am not very happy how loud it is to be honest. Plus the pizza insert doesn't work that great. They are ok but I would buy a Camp Chef over a Ledge. Thanks for watching!
What camp chef would be comparable in size to the ledge?
Thanks man!
Which Pitt does the best in your cold Wisconsin weather?
The 3/16" American steel on the Lone Star Grillz. Thanks for watching!!
I hope Traeger stepped up their game. Two years ago I did a side by side build, not performance comparison on Green Mountain Grill and Traeger. Green Mountain Grill is built like a Military Tank compared to Traeger.
The new Traeger's are built heavier than the GMG's now. Thanks for watching!
Have you or will you review The pit boss pro titan? I like the woodwind pro but the pit boss has some nice features of its own. Would like to see a head-to-head comparison between the competition series Titan and the woodwind pro 36
I hope to get one, someday!!! Thanks for watching!
I'm torn between the Oklahoma joe's rider dlx 900 and the pit boss pro series 850. Both on sale around same price at the moment around 450ish
I like the Put Boss a tad better. The electronics are better. Thanks for watching.
Man, great video. Ive never considered Traeger, but now im not sure. That thing checks a lot of boxes!
Ya, I am a fan of the new Traeger models. They are a tad higher in price but I feel this pit is pretty solid! Thanks for watching!!
@DeadBrokeBBQ although the rotisserie for the weber might be a deciding add-on. How's the smoke flavor on the weber with a PID?
@jeffmohler6880 the new Searwood is a very nice option for a jack of all trades. I used the griddle in it this weekend and impressed with how well that worked!
Fantastic job yet again.
Thank you Dash!!! I appreciate you watching brother and #GoBirds!! But my birds where orange and black and play High School football!!!! hahaha
@@DeadBrokeBBQ LOL, you had me at #GoBirds!
I figured that would perk you up!!! ha ha 🤣
Thanks for watching and in 6 months or so I might be sharing a pit that will break the internet but I am sworn to secrecy for now, sorry!!! hahaha
LSG can run wood chips through the auger, P&S can’t. The smoke cage is not convenient enough IMO and too gimmicky.
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Awesome content like always.👌🏽 can’t wait to see what the future will bring.
Oh man we all knew the Lone Star Grillz was going to be number 1! But I forgot about the camp chef love the ability to add charcoal or wood
@@DeadBrokeBBQ can't wait!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ if you roll out with the LSG Cabinet Pellet Smoker you are going to break the internet.
Any update on the new smoker that will break the internet? Lol @@DeadBrokeBBQ
Have you seen sams club member mark 36" pro series pellet grill? there is 2 of them, 1 is the old version and they just released a new one with induction burner side with a smoke tray for 500 bucks and double insulated
I have not seen it yet! I will have to look into it! Thanks for watching!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, Ricer! #1 to me as well is my favorite and best pellet grill I've owned. 👍👍👍
Ya Kevin, I am happy I helped talk you into getting one!!! The LSG is an incredible pit and it has never failed me yet!!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Love my weber smokefire. nice job Jeff great video.
Heck ya Scotty!! The SmokeFire is a pretty dang good pit! Thanks for watching brother!!
I guess you don’t have my number 2 Yoder ys640. Why not. You don’t like it ?
I like Yoders!!! They make a good pit and hopefully one of these days I get one!?!?!?! I will say I have a couple friends that had them but now after then ran mine, they also have a LSG!!! hahahha Thanks for watching!!
Lone Star is in a category all by itself.
It certainly is! Thanks for watching!!
Solid video, though I’m a little surprised a RecTec did not make your list.
😅😅😂😂
I have a P&S 2000 but I’m so close to getting a LSG also
Nice pit for sure and to have both would be heaven!!!! Thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ thanks! Bought the LSG yesterday and i appreciate the video to help confirm what I already knew
Awesome!! Congrats!! Now the long wait but once it arrives you will be impressed with how heavy duty it is built!!
tried talking my wife in getting a campchef and that was a big no so got a blackstone griddle instead and making a lot of chicken stir fry, chicken fry rice, eggs, bacon, pancakes.
You are eating good though and that is the most important part!!! Before I started doing this gig, I saved forever to get my first pellet grill and by the time I got one I just started my RUclips channel. I am very happy to cook on any pit that works and makes good food!! Thanks for watching!!
Hmmm I love my cook shack pg500. Most unique and effective style
I’m hoping to get a cookshack in here this summer to review!!
Rice needs to do a review on the Recteq back yard boss.
Hopefully one of these days I get one! Thanks for watching!
What size Lone Star pellet grill is the one that you have?
the bigger one 20'x42". Thanks for watching!
Just an fyi, Christmas is coming and I would love to get the lone star grill.
The Holy Cow is COMING brother!!!!!!! Man I hope this happens for you!!!!!!!! Make sure you tell them, Ricer sent ya!!! hahaha
I love my camp chef Woodwind pro, smoke box makes all the difference. The downside is the build quality is garbage. I still use it all the time, due to the smoke box. I have a rec tec rt700 and a BFG and they are awesome, fantastic build quality just wish they had the smoke box.
Ya I would love to see RecTeq add some convenience features to their pits. Run good but pretty plain Jane. Thanks for watching!
Excellent review Ricer 👍🏻👊🏻!!
Thanks brother, I appreciate you watching!!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ you’re welcome Brother, love your channel 👍🏻!
Have you had a chance to check out the just released Grilla Mammoth? I've been losing sleep for about a month going back and forth between the Campchef Woodwind Pro 36 and the Mammoth since I've owned a Silverbac for about 6 years.
I have seen it but I have not had anyone reach out yet for me to do a review! Thanks for watching and maybe someday I can get a Grilla in here!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. Now I shall return to debating the WW Pro or The Mammoth or the New Masterbuilt coming in April. I'm going to drive myself crazy
I am a fan of the Woodwind Pro, especially over anything Masterbuilt makes.@@donkeyshaunjr
@@DeadBrokeBBQ that's kind of my mentality now. MBs have a lot of fans but they are also the first to tell you they spend hundreds modding them. There's a new model due out in April I think but it's still mostly fiberglass.
How much for your grill..the lone star grill?
With freight is was a little over $3,250.00. Cheaper than my Traeger Timberline XL!!! Thanks for watching!!
Another great video surprise pit boss elite didn't make the top 5
Ya it is #6 for this list. But top 5 for standard box store pits. The reason why the APEX beat it out is mainly because how innovated it is. The Weber is my favorite pellet grill just to grill on. Really works great for that but if I had just pic one between the Elite and the Smokerfire, it is the Elite. Very hard to do a Top 5 video when I have had so many pellet grills!! Thanks for watching!!
Do you have anything to say about the rectec 1250 or the 2500?
Nice pits, just wish they would add a few more features to them! Hope to get a bigger RecTeq on the channel someday!! Thanks for watching!!
For the quality money and features I go with the grilla grill
Someday I really hope to get one in here and try it out!! Thanks for watching!!
I want to see comparison Yoder ys640 to lonestar grillz
Hopefully one of these days I get one in to test out. But I have 2 friends that "had" YS-640's but now they have a LSG after seeing mine in action. Thanks for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I have heard that they are amazing but their lead time is long. So if you have friends with them was it worth the switch. I got Yoder from a place delivered on comp cart for 1000 cheaper and in a week.
They like the LSG a lot better. Produces way more smoke flavor and is built like a tank. Yoder makes a nice pellet too, you got a good one still!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I really do appreciate you replying. I did not know if you would or not.
Whats your thoughts on pit boss pro series
I have always been a fan of Pit Boss!
