Dude, excellent video! I know you made this 5yrs ago, but it still helps a lot of people to this day to break down the different forms of screws and mounts available!
Wow - very well done. I knew nothing about these cages and you provided a great overview. Your fast pace made me pay attention-every RUclipsr could learn from you. Extremely well organized-thanks!
This is so helpful! Thankyou. Now can do a more detailed video explaining what is the use of every other camera cage attachment. Make it general but go in depth for each product. That would be awesome
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the suggestion, but the video is almost 2 years old by now and I don't think I can repeat a similar video after so long hahah but thanks anyway!
Hey smallrig, i was wondering if by chance you could design an addition to the smallrig cage for the A6400 + Meike grip. The reason i ask, is because the standard camera only cage has the wooden grip addition available, which helps quite a bit with comfort. The cage for the Meike grip and camera however, has no such option. If i could have the battery life of my meike grip while retaining the comfort of my wooden grip, that would be amazing. Thanks!
Tommy Nguyen thanks for the product design thoughts! Join our SmallRig group on Facebook called “co design” and share your thoughts with our designers. They’ll actually make it with you if you’re able to convey exactly what you want 🤝🤝
Great video. These mounts were giving such a tough time. Lol ended up buying all types of adapters to see what works. This made it much easier to understand.
THANK YOU!! I just got my Z-CAM and am new to cages and accessories. Your video perfectly explained the parts that were confusing me and now I'm ready to start making my next purchase! :D
Excellent, clearly explained and demonstrated, highly informative video! Now, I finally understand the different types of attachments! Thanks so much Shawn 😊
Very thorough, I appreciate it. Two problems. I can’t stand that rosette mount - I have one and it’s very hard to tighten that wheel inside. It’s always coming undone. Second, When you move the camera to some position to show us what you’ve done, you should leave the camera in that position for at least a second or two so that we can see. But thank you.
Really enjoyed that video! First time I've found your channel! Really useful to see what/how a nato rail works, just prior to my Amazon purchase of cages/top handles for my Canon EOS R & R5. Thanks very much, and a great personality that I'll be subscribing to right away!
Thank you! I'm struggling to mount a Canon G50, audio adapter, Rode mic, Hotec transmitter, 5.5" monitor, and Hollyland transmitter on my Camvate cage. At least now I have a better idea of what I need to make this happen.
Very concise and informative video - this has helped me out make a decision on buying the system / accessories you've illustrated here man! Thanks for making the decision easier!
Where can i buy the camera reainter pin, that small pin that goes into one of the holes under the camera to prevent twiting? Not sure what the name is.... I lost mine for my Canon EOS R5C cage.
Hey Everyone! thank you so much for all the support for this video, I really appreciate it! Use the link below to purchase your smallrig products to help support my channel :) www.smallrig.com?afmc=2jk
Hi! Quick question: Do NATO-compatible handles work with Smallrig's Quick Release Safety Rails? What's the difference between their NATO rails and Quick Release rails? Also, super sweet to see a Singaporean creator doing great work. Subscribed.
Hey Jake! thanks for the kind words. Regarding the rails: Safety rails and NATO rails are functionally the same, they are just slightly different in applications. The NATO rails are a thinner profile, it also leaves less room for the thumb screw if you attach the rail onto a flat surface. On the plus side, it has several screw holes to let you attach other stuff. (abit hard to explain but basically if you try to attach 1564 onto a nato rail which is already attached to a flat surface, you will not be able to turn the tightening thumb screw on the 1564) The safety rails are thicker profiles and leaves room for the thumb screw to turn. It's also sometimes cheaper. Hope this helps :) just visit the RiceBall photo store to try it out and the guys there can explain further :)
@@ShawnKoh Ahh thank you! That's really informative. The NATO rail you're using in the video, is it the 7cm one? Looking for one to mount the Wooden NATO side handle.
im lowkey interested in that multitool too. I wonder if it has the bits i need for both camera gear and cycling. Any info abt the tool would be much appreciated!
I wish Small Rig would make connectors with a 1/4” thread and Arri locating pins. That’s what Atomos monitors need, but it is rare to find anything other than 3/8” connectors with ARRI pins.
The Ninja V has 3/8" Arri connectors. You just have to take out the 3/8" to 1/4" adapter that's pre-installed. I would assume the other Atomos monitors are the same but I only have the V.

Hey, thanks for sharing such a great review, I've subscribed and look forward to more content. I wanna know how to get 2 handles on a cage
Buy 2 handles and attach them on
Good to see a fellow Singaporean on YT:)
Thanks Kenny! Glad I could reach the SG audience :)
Good explanation! I would emphasise the three alternatives to the normal screw mount, since those are a disaster waiting to happen.
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it

Too bad it don't fit EOS R6 R5 with battery grip.
You can actually write to Smallrig to propose the cage to be design and made. If enough people want it, I'm sure they will make one.
