"Hold the Line" is a classic rock song by the American rock band Toto, released in 1978 as their debut single and also featured on their self-titled debut album. The song is characterized by its energetic and driving rhythm, anchored by David Paich's prominent keyboard riff and Steve Lukather's powerful guitar work. The lyrics, penned by David Paich, convey a message of resilience and determination in the face of adversity, urging the listener to 'hold the line' and stay strong. The track became an instant hit, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, propelling Toto into the mainstream spotlight early in their career. Its success established Toto as a formidable force in the rock music scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, setting the stage for their subsequent string of hit singles and albums. "Hold the Line" remains a staple of classic rock radio and continues to be celebrated for its infectious energy and memorable hooks, solidifying its place as one of Toto's signature songs.

@@MatthewFierros - “Human Nature” was written in 1982 by Toto keyboardist, Steve Porcaro, who received some lyrical assistance from wordsmith John Bettis. The idea for the R&B-tinged, soft rock classic came from a conversation Porcaro had one day with his young daughter Heather; she was bullied by a boy at school and she asked her Dad, Steve, "Why?" And he told her: "It's just human nature". That's where the song came from. Michael Jackson did not have any part of the writing and lyrics of Human Nature. We know the band quite well (some of them were raised in our county in Cali) and we still see them in concert. Steve P. has even given me my nickname: "Ro".. Yes, Toto is still performing ; to sold-out crowds, especially in Europe, where they are adored. And they are still producing records.. React to "BURN" from one of their more current albums and sung by Joseph Williams, on front vocals..and Toto does a great rendition of singing "Human Nature" themselves..

Several played with Boz Scaggs on the Silk Degrees album and tour. I saw Boz in 1980 and as I recall several were part of his touring band on the Middle Man tour. The Procaro brothers' father Joe was also a jazz musician. David Paich is the son of Marty Paich who was a keyboard player/arranger/producer with big name artists of the 1950s & 60s. Good lineage

Steve Lukather is a beast on guitar - and the only original member still touring as TOTO. Most of TOTO were regular players on albums by Steely Dan, and individually, played on various top-charting albums released in the 80s and 90s. The Porcaro brothers were the sons of studio percussionist Joe Porcaro. Steve Porcaro co-wrote and co-composed "Human Nature" on Michael Jackson's Thriller. Jeff Porcaro and Lukather also played on multiple tracks on the album.

It just tickles me to see people react to Toto, Boz, etc. and the players. They are and were some of the finest musicians perhaps in our lifetimes. In demand for sessions, crack musicians.
I get tickled and a little nostalgic because the Porcaros and Lukather were my high school mates in LA. I watched Jeff play his first gigs with Steely Dan 50 years ago. He was really the first to make the big time, first with Sonny and Cher, then Steely Dan. He never forgot to recommend somebody he knew to someone. That's how Michael Mcdonald got hired by Steely Dan in 1973.
Steve Porcaro told me one time in school that he didn't give a shit about an oral report he had to do, as he was asking me for help. He bitched that he was going to be Fing musician, F oral reports! And so they were.

Toto's songs with Bobby on lead are my favorites, but pop audiences seemed to prefer the more mild songs over their rock songs on which Bobby shined. As a drummer it’s all about Jeff Porcaro, yeah the rest of those guys are a good supporting backing band for Jeff. 😂
When this song hit when I was a teenager I wanted to find out who the drummer was , then I started finding out his musical history and the rest of his supporting backing bands back story
    There so damn talented

That song is so hot my lobster bib 🦞 caught fire 🔥 !! Great pick bros!!! These guys were world class musicians, Jeff Pocaro , the drummer and his band were studio musicians, they played on a ton of 70s and 80s songs. They are tight as a hangman’s noose. No shit, for real!
