How the hell is Toto not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
R.I.P. Jeff Porcaro, one of the greatest studio drummers ever. His half time shuffle on "Rosanna" is legendary, along with the outro guitar solo by Steve Lukather. The full album version of that song should be next.
such a nice groove!
Highly annoying when the outro is not played to hear Luke’s solo. And Porcaro is a legend.
Jeff is the greatest ever to do it...RIP gone way too soon ❤
I could not agree more.
Bobby Kimball's voice is amazing🔥❤️
Toto consists of the best session musicians and vocalists who got together and made their own band. One of the best bands ever and CRIMINALLY underrated.
In addition to making the soundtrack for the 1984 movie Dune, Toto was also the band behind Michael Jackson on the Thriller album.
Pretty sure some of them were studio/touring musicians with Steely Dan, too. And you have to be elite level to get the call from them.
@@tomfabozzi6309 David Paich (Piano) and Jeff Porcaro (Drums) got to play with Steely Dan. But Jeff also played aditional drums in Pink Floyd´s another Brick in the wall. And probably over 1000 musicians. There is a list on spotify.
But yet, they're not in the Rock & Roll HOF.
Bobby Kimball is a great vocalist. He takes it up a notch, no doubt.
Bobby and Steve Luthaker share the vocals on Rosanna. Luthaker and David Paich are good vocalists too.
Toto was basically the 'band' on Michael Jacksons Thriller album. They played all the music.
This is why you would spend $1000 on a home stereo system…to play these cool tunes on!
Steve Lukather can play anything on guitar . Very underrated . He can sing too .
A few years ago, I shared a plate of nachos at Cleveland Airport with the guitar player, Steve Lukather. We were on the same flight back to LA. A few minutes later who sat with us... Slash and Skunk Baxter. Crazy!
Wow! I want to hang with you for a while😁😎❤
Cool story bro
And then Robert Plant and Jimmy Page came-along....
❤❤❤ 🎶
@@bobthebear1246😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
literally Porcaro and Lukather are two of the best at their instruments ever. the whole band is so damn great.
There are many great Toto songs, but the next one you have to do is "Georgy Porgy". I doubt any of you have heard it. It's amazing and very funky!
Alot of people think it's an R&B song lol
A nasty groove. George Porgy. David Hungate and Jeff Porcaro lay down a funky funky groove. I missed their work on later albums after Hungate left after IV. Together they were gold. Mike Porcaro was good on bass later but didn’t have the same feel for the groove that Hungate had with Jeff.
That drummer, is always in the top 10 drummers list.
RIP Jeff Porcaro.
@@jenl3162 FACT.
AMAZING DRUMMER
That’s Jeff Porcaro, RIP.
This song blew me away in 1978, and still does 44 years later
Bobby’s look had that Welcome Back Kotter mojo😆
What a goddamn voice. Monster.
That guitar solo by Steve Lukather is EPIC!!
Bobby Kimball has that Nacho Libre look to him. That man can sing!
❤️😂❤️
Larry Zonka, hall of fame fullback of the Miami Dolphins 12:26 h Bobby's twen brother!
sadly, he’s suffering from dementia now (july 2024).
All studio musicians. Elite group. Can’t emphasize that enough. Played on hundreds of albums.
Elite
Most definitely
Another great reaction from you guys. Toto has a hit called “99” that you ought to try!
Yes! Love 99!
And Georgy Porgy!
yes, yes...forgot about 99!
Arguably one of the best rock songs, ever.
The greatest session musicians of all time in a supergroup were always going to be fire. Look at the individual members. They are a Who's Who of music.
Omg! One of the best songs of all time. Holy Shit. That singer, I totally forgot how great he is. Sexy and hot
RUclips has the isolated drum groove by Steve Porcaro.... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎👍
Boz Scaggs Low down !!!!
+1
Definitely!
One of the best bands of the 80's. Super talented people.
All 70s bands were Awsome! It was an incredible decade that will never come again!
Hold the Line was the first of many hits for the band that formed in Van Nuys, California in 1977. When I first heard this song I figured they definitely had a winner, a pure rock sound. Hold the Line quickly rose up the charts to number 5 in early 1978. The band earned a Grammy nomination for best new artist in 1979. Africa was my favorite song of theirs from 1982 and probably their biggest. Other gems by them were " Rosanna", " I'll Supply the Love" and 99. I always look forward to you guys and your reactions and the variety of music like Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Tears for Fears, Flyleaf, Barry White and of course Al Stewart.
It was actually early 1979 when it peaked😉
Absolutely 💯
When I was a teenager here in Australia 🇦🇺, I heard this while out with friends. I just loved everything about it. Now I'm in my very late 50's, and it still sounds fantastic. It is great that different generations have appreciation for the wonderful sounds of the 70's.
I'm in my mid-50s, and I also remember listening to this wong with my older brothers in Arizona. It's wild to think about people halfway around the world experiencing the same song!!
Y’all, I’m really feeling the love here for my father, Bobby’s, vocals!!! Dad wrote a song for me on the first Toto album called You Are The Flower 🌺. It’s 🔥 too and I’d also check out I’ll Supply The Love. There are so many other songs I could mention here, but you’ll just have to jump into Toto’s albums because there’s SO MUCH 🔥good music in their catalog. Thanks again for all the love for my dad. I’ve subscribed to y’all now just for that! 👍🏻🫶🏻🔥🌺
That's awesome that Bobby's your dad, Allison! The guys at this channel have already done a very complimentary reaction to "I'll Supply the Love", (and they did supply more love for your dad, lol), as well as "Africa" and Rosanna." (Just check their TOTO playlist or search engine, if you'd like.) I've always felt that Bobby's a seriously underrated vocalist who puts real passion, soul, and conviction into his vocals, always elevating the song. As soon as I'm done typing this, I'm going to check out his song to you -- very sweet!
@@alchemy-oi8xf Cool! I hope you enjoy the song!! 🌺🫶🏻🌺
@@allisonkimball3730 Thanks, I did enjoy it! You can't go wrong with TOTO's musicianship, your dad's vocals, plus the sentiment.
These guys were excellent studio musicians throughout the 70's and then they got together and decided to do the music they had written over the years and put out this album......And everyone went CRAZY!!!! Toto are among the gods of Rock n' Roll.
I was 23 when this came out, somehow I heard before all my friends so I shared, your guys reaction remind me of Them! Great react! Keep On!
This was Boz Scaggs’ band on Silk Degrees.
Review Georgy Porgy by Toto next time
Guys, please please react to "Toto - Georgy Porgy (live) (ruclips.net/video/p2rQbeXGuKM/видео.html)
David Paich on piano playing a marvelous Intro & Outro Solo, Mike Porcaro on Bass & Jeff Porcaro on Drums groove like all over the place, Jean-Michel Byron and two phenomenal background singers on Vocals, Steve Lukather on Guitar shreddin THE GUITAR SOLO - the guitar solo is so famous - and also Steve´s vocal performance is...wtf. Every band member gets the moment to shine and everyone delivers like crazy.
Please Guys Please!
You would be surprised at how many times you've heard Lukather, not only on other artists tracks, but on jingles for almost every brand.
you guys!!!! you're so adorable. I loved & wore OUT this album in my teenage years. you're right on about the combo of love & kick-ass rock. Toto was unique.
For their best song for me Rosanna
All of their song are amazing
With Bobby Kimball at the helm
He's a singer's, singer
Love your work boy's.
Bobby Kimball is the original vocalist for Toto and in my opinion the best and my favourite! He was the voice you liked near the end of Africa with the strong high voice!
Yes! Kimball the best.
There is absolutely nothing in this song that is not exactly on point. The keys to start off, then the guitar, Bobby's perfect vocals and the drums oh the drums at the end, I mean seriously what more could you want in a song? Toto is one of those bands that every single member of the band contribute in a major way. I know that everyone will recommend that you react to Africa and Rosanna. Fine songs both. But I am begging you to react to I'll Supply The Loue, Goodbye Girl, Rockmaker, Georgy Porgy with the amazing Cheryl Lynn. So, so many great songs that deserve a listen.
Rosanna is their other big hit! 😀
Love Toto!! Glad you finally got to this one. You got a lot more to go. They are always and ever shall be awesome.
My favourite band - bar none. Toto in the studio are majestic, but live they take it to a whole new level.
The drummer, Jeff Porcaro, played with Steely Dan ... among many others.
World class gold!
Rock and roll will always be the greatest music ever and the fact that blokes of your generation can really appreciate how good stuff like this is gives me, someone who was a teenager when this was released and is now into his sixties , makes me realise how lucky l was to be enjoying the greatest period of music ever recorded when l was first learning to appreciate music.
Us older lovers of rock were fortunate to see Toto and other great 70-80's bands. Lots of great songs Goodbye Girl, You Supply the Love, Stop Loving You, kinda like Manuela Run too. and Hydra. Might want to try Shooting Star's "Last Chance", Bad Company's "Holy Water", Aerosmith's "Train Kept a Rollin"
Since you guys are looking for more Toto suggestions, I'd recommend "White Sister" off of their second album, Hydra, which was released in 1979. It's a spectacular deep cut!!
Love this song and these guys. So happy to have grown up with this🙏🏾✨
Just immaculate! Loved your reaction! This song is worth every ounce of your enthusiasm!!
Rosanna next
Toto was a terrific band. When they broke up some of them then formed an all new FANTASTIC band called Asia. Please PLEASE try them, especially their first 2 albums.
Toto’s singer was good. But there were far better in the 1970’s. Paul Rogers of Bad Company. Robert Plant of the greatest band of all time Led Zepplin. And in the second half of their run, Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers. You MUST try him. Try songs such as What a Fool Believes, I Keep Forgetting, Taking it to the Streets and so many many more.
I’d try a bunch more by Boz Scaggs.
Enjoy!
ToTo is one of those legendary rock bands that knows how to Jam. The 70's and 80's Classic Rock Bands that knows how Rock and Roll and have a Great Time!!! 🤘🤟👊🤙✊
The fact that these guys are normally session musicians and even in other bands, the result is a dynamic super group!!!
And YES on the Bass. The drummer was putting on a Ghost notes and other fills clinic!!!
Hello from Northern California!!!! 😁❤✌🏼
U mark my words the girl that would had saved herself until marriage for that SPECIAL DAY there love ❤️ would had been on time That’s my opinion nothing will ever change my mind for staying a VIRGIN which to me is LOVE not LUST Before marriage is LUST
This is why you need to listen tye live versions if these songs! You loved lowdown and Jojo! Wait until yiu see bozz do them LIVE! U WON'T SURVIVE! RYAN WILL FALL OUT
This band is GREAT! Vocals and harmonies are excellent, not to mention the instrumentation! It's hard to believe that they have not been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!
"veddy spicy-ah-meatball"!!! great tune...nice reaction guys!!!
Great song, band and reaction. Another banger would be School by Supertramp
Jeff porcaro, genius!!!
I miss the 70s and 80s. Had such good music back then! Please check out ELO's album Out of the Blue. Alot of classics on there and alot of great songs that never really got airplay.... Its Over, Big Wheels (my fav), Summer and Lightning & also Birmingham Blues (you guys will love this one) GREAT album.
Love me some Toto! Check out White Lion - Wait. I’ve got a wardrobe of music you guys would absolutely love! Dream Theatre - Pull Me Under and Live Another Day will give you a musical instrumental journey! Give me a shot to musically inject y’all!
Check out Hold The Line - Toto live 2007 Paris Video. Bobby will make your heads explode 🤯 Total fire 🔥
Literally crank this up all the time! Seeing them in concert soon!!
Next TOTO songs>>> Georgy Porgy, I'll Supply the Love!!!!
"Georgy Peorgy" is very R n B maybe their first hit. You'll think it's a black band for sure.
PLEASE react to URGENT by Foreigner!!! ❤❤❤❤
Rosanna. You of course, have heard (or heard of) "Rosanna?" It's hard to say which is better "Hold The Line" or 'Rosanna/"
Far corporation stairway to heaven with Bobby kimball..excellent
You guys are so cute! I love how much you appreciate every aspect of a great song! Nice! 👏🏻👏🏻

The story has it that Jeff Porcaro and David Paich conceived the idea during the sessions for Boz Scagg's "Silk Degrees" album, which Paich composed songs for and arranged the music as a whole. The members of Toto have played on countless records, often together. Drummer Jeff Porcaro once told in an interview that the producer asked him to play on certain style. The producer then played the reference record and Jeff stated that it was himself playing. Toto epitomises also the strong harmonies that has always been a strong point of American bands of this era.
Listen to Georgy Porgy by Toto
This is way better than Africa...Africa is soo sappy. Great vocals of course, but sappy
You should listen to Why Does It Hurt When I Pee? by Frank Zappa, from his Joe's Garage Part One. The whole first part has recurring sly digs at Toto, but WDIHWIP? is a musical parody/homage to their sound, and especially this song.
Bobby Kimball.., he’s from southwest Louisiana, that’s where I’m originally from. It was a huge deal because the 1970’s & 1980’s is when they were at their best. He was born across the state line in Orange, Texas because Vinton, LA didn’t have a hospital. Lol. Just a fun fact for you! Love this band .. and for the singer to be from where you’re from makes them that much more special! Great job guys!
World class studio session musicians and all from the same town, childhood friends. Something in the water.
"I sound like somebody's therapist" - I laughed so hard Nick!
Waiting for your love off of Toto IV will absolutely blow your guys mind. Very deep cut.
The most recognizable opening of any song I've ever heard.
Try Careless Whisper 😂
Toto: Girl Goodbye, Hydra, Falling In Between, Etc
Read Luke s book- The Gospel according to Luke(butt love me)
hey guys I recomend Camel playing live West Berlin
band Yes song Love will find a way
Master Chief May I Ask Why You Are In That Jet?
Sir! Jamming To Toto
react to self control-laura branigan please !
That piano riff reminds me of another song you guys should react to from the same era as this one:
"Jane" by Jefferson Starship
Gotta do some Rush. The Power Trio, the singer can't be matched in my opinion.
This song and Bostons More than a Feeling are a rock song that is visceral... Has to be felt. Classic gold
As good as this monster hit is, wait until you get to "I'll Supply The Love..."
Must be doing something right…Opening up for Journey in concert for the 2nd year in a row.Keyboardist with glasses sang “ Africa”…. They had 3-4 good voices. You guys are respectful and fun to watch.
Embarrassed to admit that I always thought the title was "Tow the Line". Oops
Great song! Another great deep track from this album is "I'll Supply the Love".
You guys need to listen to the Toto song Hydra
99 by Toto is also great. I love Toto. ❤
Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra, you won't regret it
They were a collection of studio musicians who were tired of playing for others and formed their own group and hit gold.
1st video today, 10th overall! I am already dreading reaching the end of your 70s reaction videos. I bought this lp when it came out. Hold The Line is only my second favorite from this album. Check out I’ll Supply The Love. It will melt your face!!!! Blessings, young squires!!!
Tell you guys what just treat yourselves and put the headphones on and listen to the Hydra album straight through. Just do it and go on a journey.
Jeff Porcaro the drummer used to be the drummer for Boz Scaggs. Sadly he committed suicide before he could really see the fruits of his labor. Easily one of the best drummers. Neil Pert even said Jeff is a true percussionist and one of the greatest!
Jeff did NOT commit suicide! He died from a reaction to a chemical he was using on his lawn. Came in the house and collapsed in front of his wife and kids. Truly tragic for one of the greatest drummers of all time.
Great song, love Toto! We were so spoiled in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Maybe my favorite Toto song
Rosanna will be the other song you know, and well worth doing, other hits worth checking out are I'll Supply the Love, Georgy Porgy and Stranger in Town, but it's the deep cuts where they're at their best. Where do you start? Try Girl Goodbye, White Sister, Lion, Home of the Brave. Where do you stop? YOU DON'T! :D
Absolutely love Toto! My all time favorite Toto song is "99". Give it a listen, you won't regret it! Great review!
