Y’all, I’m really feeling the love here for my father, Bobby’s, vocals!!! Dad wrote a song for me on the first Toto album called You Are The Flower 🌺. It’s 🔥 too and I’d also check out I’ll Supply The Love. There are so many other songs I could mention here, but you’ll just have to jump into Toto’s albums because there’s SO MUCH 🔥good music in their catalog. Thanks again for all the love for my dad. I’ve subscribed to y’all now just for that! 👍🏻🫶🏻🔥🌺
That's awesome that Bobby's your dad, Allison! The guys at this channel have already done a very complimentary reaction to "I'll Supply the Love", (and they did supply more love for your dad, lol), as well as "Africa" and Rosanna." (Just check their TOTO playlist or search engine, if you'd like.) I've always felt that Bobby's a seriously underrated vocalist who puts real passion, soul, and conviction into his vocals, always elevating the song. As soon as I'm done typing this, I'm going to check out his song to you -- very sweet!
You guys like everyone else that gives a reaction to hearing this great song are all wayyy too late to the party. I was 20 when this song came out in 1978 and I couldn't wait for it to come on the radio especially if I was driving in my car with over 500 watts of power and subwoofers thumping. Back then 500 watts was just about all you could buy. great reaction guys. Head phones really is the best way to hear every nuance of great music although now I have Yamaha home theater system that will drive 16 sets of speakers an a subwoofer.
A nasty groove. George Porgy. David Hungate and Jeff Porcaro lay down a funky funky groove. I missed their work on later albums after Hungate left after IV. Together they were gold. Mike Porcaro was good on bass later but didn’t have the same feel for the groove that Hungate had with Jeff.
This band is GREAT! Vocals and harmonies are excellent, not to mention the instrumentation! It's hard to believe that they have not been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!
Rock and roll will always be the greatest music ever and the fact that blokes of your generation can really appreciate how good stuff like this is gives me, someone who was a teenager when this was released and is now into his sixties , makes me realise how lucky l was to be enjoying the greatest period of music ever recorded when l was first learning to appreciate music.
The greatest session musicians of all time in a supergroup were always going to be fire. Look at the individual members. They are a Who's Who of music.

you guys!!!! you're so adorable. I loved & wore OUT this album in my teenage years. you're right on about the combo of love & kick-ass rock. Toto was unique.
If you EVER wanted a band that was the FULL PACKAGE, TOTO is your band! TWO keyboardists, TRIO of brothers playing keyboards, bass, and drums, and a quintet of powerful studio musicians that BLEW THE CHARTS AWAY! I
These guys were excellent studio musicians throughout the 70's and then they got together and decided to do the music they had written over the years and put out this album......And everyone went CRAZY!!!! Toto are among the gods of Rock n' Roll.
Hold the Line was the first of many hits for the band that formed in Van Nuys, California in 1977. When I first heard this song I figured they definitely had a winner, a pure rock sound. Hold the Line quickly rose up the charts to number 5 in early 1978. The band earned a Grammy nomination for best new artist in 1979. Africa was my favorite song of theirs from 1982 and probably their biggest. Other gems by them were " Rosanna", " I'll Supply the Love" and 99. I always look forward to you guys and your reactions and the variety of music like Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Tears for Fears, Flyleaf, Barry White and of course Al Stewart.
Us older lovers of rock were fortunate to see Toto and other great 70-80's bands. Lots of great songs Goodbye Girl, You Supply the Love, Stop Loving You, kinda like Manuela Run too. and Hydra. Might want to try Shooting Star's "Last Chance", Bad Company's "Holy Water", Aerosmith's "Train Kept a Rollin"
Bobby Kimball is the original vocalist for Toto and in my opinion the best and my favourite! He was the voice you liked near the end of Africa with the strong high voice!
This band based in San Francisco contributed to one of the greatest albums of all time, Michael Jackson's Thriller!! That being said, two other songs by Toto that you guys should react to are songs that showed their versatility. They are I'll Be Over You and I Won't Hold You Back!!
Bobby Kimball.., he’s from southwest Louisiana, that’s where I’m originally from. It was a huge deal because the 1970’s & 1980’s is when they were at their best. He was born across the state line in Orange, Texas because Vinton, LA didn’t have a hospital. Lol. Just a fun fact for you! Love this band .. and for the singer to be from where you’re from makes them that much more special! Great job guys!
The story has it that Jeff Porcaro and David Paich conceived the idea during the sessions for Boz Scagg's "Silk Degrees" album, which Paich composed songs for and arranged the music as a whole. The members of Toto have played on countless records, often together. Drummer Jeff Porcaro once told in an interview that the producer asked him to play on certain style. The producer then played the reference record and Jeff stated that it was himself playing. Toto epitomises also the strong harmonies that has always been a strong point of American bands of this era.

Absolutely love Toto! My all time favorite Toto song is "99". Give it a listen, you won't regret it! Great review!

Steve Lukather can play anything on guitar . Very underrated . He can sing too .
