    I drank for 20 yrs to suppress my extreme PTSD and childhood trauma, micro dosing has brought so much joy back to my life and I am now over a year sober!

    Thank you for your job. I think that psychedelics are still overestimated but not useless. I wouldn't be surprised if they can only be used as supportive therapy. But it's okay, every substance should be used wisely.

    My son is alcoholic and desperately wants to get rid of this harmful habit. He heard that microdosing psilocybin mushrooms can help him, but unfortunately he doesnt have long enough periods of continued sobriety to start microdosing. When he has days during the week when he is sober, can he start microdosing on those days hoping that it will help him eventually to get rid of this nasty dependency? Or it is dangerous to mix mushrooms and alcohol together during the same week?

    • @nikolaizulu2873
      @nikolaizulu2873 Год назад

      It's totally safe to mix them. But if he mixes them, memory is connected to the positive effects of psilocybin. So if you drink while microdosing, it'll be harder to learn anything from the psilocybin.
      But also, this is a drug mix of abuse. He can use drinking + psilocybin to get as high as a kite which definitely not be a healthy way to use psilocybin.

      tell him to try the days hes sober or right before he takes his first drink. tell him to start with a half gram. make sure hes somewhere hes most comfortable at. stay hydrated and enjoy the ride.

    Paul Stamets is heavily against the use of Niacin for placebo. Curious about your thoughts.
    Also, you look like an amazing Johnny Depp character. 👍🏼

      I think it is an interesting option for placebo, given that it certainly produces an unusual sensation at high enough doses, dunno why he is against it.

    Thanks, Dr. I wonder if it is necessary to use " heroic doses", as one poster said, to achieve therapeutic goals. Psilocybin seems an ideal match for traditional talk therapy. It is a talky drug at medium levels, allowing free expression of one's ideas without devolving into amazed speechlessness that heavier doses would bring on. Regular sessions, monthly, perhaps, with a skilled therapist could, I feel, be more useful and lasting than the other approach.

      There is some evidence to support doses that produce mystical experiences, but at this stage, much remains unclear. As far as I've understood it, most experiences in the therapeutic context do not involve a lot of talking during the trip, but more so following the experience, and in subsequent psychotherapy sessions.

    • @robertbooth3699
      @robertbooth3699 Год назад

      Yes, and I am of the opinion that mystical experience can be achieved on less than massive doses... psychedelics famously promote intro spection; having that, combimed withthe ability to simultaneously rationalise with some coherence is valuable.
      My own experience is with psilocybe semilanceola. I wonder if there are experiencial differences between species? Semilanceola seems to " present itself" as a teacher; some lesson is often learned or "offered" during the trip. I, personally do not observe much visual activity, more often it is inward contemplation. Do other species have noticably different effects?

    my first two trips with dried 3g and 5g did almost nothing. after 2-3 days i had the alcohol cravings as usual. the second time i had some inner visuals with my eyes shut. i was at a harbor and sliced some "bags" with liquid into the harbor. i laught at it and thought i drained my alcoholism. but no. i drank after 2 days.
    i will take 10g next

      Psilocybin is a schedule 1 drug in the US, that makes it legal to possess for scientific or industrial use only, you would just need a schedule 1 license. Clearly the authors of this study had the legal permissions to perform this study and had applied to the FDA for the approval of the study. It's 100% legal as it is for scientific purposes.
