  • Some side notes:
I highly recommend zip tying the base of the cord to the metal hanger loop on your clipper to prevent future damage. Also be sure to straighten your cord back out by loosely hanging your clippers and running your hand down the cord after every groom! If you are coiling your cord DO NOT wrap it around your clipper or in a circle coil, instead make large folding butterfly wing loops. Any unnecessary bending of your cord will damage it internally and this cord is on average $50 to replace! Here is a link with a tutorial on zip tying your cord:

This was awesome! Thank you. The part was hard enough to find- but then there wasn't any instructions included. It looked pretty straight forward when the clipper is apart, but I always like to double check. Waiting for the part to come was agony! My Excel is my favorite clipper, hands down. I work with a Taxi Vac, so the cord gets bent and twisted around the hose of the clipper vac. The link to Jeff's blog at Northern Tails was really nice to see. I love his sharpening, I used to live int the gulf coast, but now I ship my blades in to him.

Your video was very useful. Thanks. I had to change my wife's Clippers power cord. Same model and everything.

This does help, thank you! I was looking at that connector, never having seen one before, and was quite worried about forcing it off.

i fix these and wahl clippers all the time. one super easy way to fix it is to clip the cord back past where the short is and strip fresh wires . you can buy those connectors and crimp them on or better solder them directly to pins. then use black colored (color doesnt really matter but black matches) and slide a piece on about 4-5" long and heat shrink it then slide another piece over that one and shrink that one also and then one more still over that one. that gives you a new "strain relief" and when you clamp the case back together over it makes it tight and not slide in or out. have done a ton of these now and you can re use your old cord this way or you can simply use any cord of the same gauge. one pair i fixed the lady had me put a 25ft cord on them so she could use them out in the field where there were not plugs close by and a cordless pair wouldnt work as well.
