My family is from Antigua and my grandpa always used to make this for us. It’s been almost 4 years since he’s been gone, and I’ve missed eating this. Thank you for sharing this recipe! 🙏🏽
Fascinating!!!!! This is the same method that’s used in West African FuFu (when it’s not pounded) and also the same method and corn meal ingredients used in East African Ugali.
Nice work. Good fungee recipe, easy to follow. I’ve developed an appreciation of our national dishes later in life and wish I’d learned to cook them earlier. This video has been a big help 👍🏿
Let me tell you...fungi is hard to turn when you it starts to get thick boy🤣that's why I hate making it. Love your videos. Keep them coming! We need more Antiguan food on RUclips and I am very proud! Thanks for representing!
My aunt would say dat ah wutless gal fungi but that’s quite fine by me because that’s how I make it. I can’t poor dry corn meal in boiling water too many lumps Nice meal as always
Ms. Sherikaaaaaaa. Girl I did your fungi today and steam fish for my household. My very first try it came out EXCELLENT SMOOTH AS EVERY LOOKED JUST LIKE YOURS IN THE POT. Can you do coconut dumplings next thanks🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳💯💯💯💯🤷♀️🤷♀️

Lord you don't know how long I been looking for Antiguan food on RUclips, so thank you for this. Can you give some measurements for the ingredients you used please. Like how much cornmeal, butter, okra, etc.? Thanks
Measurements is not something we use in Antiguan cooking. You just know how much to use 😂😂. I like how she cooks without measuring. It shows skill and authenticity. It's not a downfall, Sherika. I cook the same way. Don't ask me about measurements. 😂😂
Hi dear I am so grateful for this video...before watching I made it like 3 times and didn't come out as perfect after watching your video...I'd like to show you how can I send you a picture ?
I lost touch of my roots smh by going to the city and eating fast food but not trying to sound crazy but what fish is this and how to prepare in video because Im ready to learn
Is the okra necessary in the fungi? I know it’s used to thicken foods sometimes, is that the case here? I was never big into fungi growing up I have gained a better appreciation for our food as I’ve gotten older but even though okra is one of the foods our people brought over during the slave trade I have never been in to it.
My god who told my grandma and mother to die. This video made me cry. Who’s going to make me fungi now. Hi Can I have 2 balls please! Imma try it u make it like my mommy soaking the corn meal not IRIS who’s my granny
@@DJ-tz4wl that depends on the amount of fungi you’re making and also if your preference is more or less okra. I really don’t have measurements, I eyeball everything.

It’s red snapper
Looks delicious what did you season your dish with?
Is the okra necessary in the fungi? I know it’s used to thicken foods sometimes, is that the case here?
I was never big into fungi growing up I have gained a better appreciation for our food as I’ve gotten older but even though okra is one of the foods our people brought over during the slave trade I have never been in to it.
It can definitely be made without it hon (virgin fungi) but okra gives it a nice softness.
Where you from? I mean brought from where during slave trade and I'm asking this question respectfully it can help my research greatly👸🏽?
My god who told my grandma and mother to die. This video made me cry. Who’s going to make me fungi now.
Hi Can I have 2 balls please! Imma try it u make it like my mommy soaking the corn meal not IRIS who’s my granny
Looks great! Was that green seasoning on the fish?
Thanks!! Yea it was

Can you use the saute option on an insta pot to make the steam fish?
I’ve never tried that but it sounds doable
Want. Need. 🤤🥰
❤️❤️
Cook it😂😂
I was here😊

Where u from Sherika?
Why did my fungi come out green even though the cornmeal was yellow? 😩
Did you use too much okra?
Not sure. What is the right amount of okra?
