    Thinking about future videos.....What are some resistance band questions that you have?

    • @rvb4212
      @rvb4212 5 лет назад +11

      On the bands itself:
      - How long do they last? (I read about 1 year)
      - Maximum stretch of a band?
      - Did a band ever snap?
      On pull excercises:
      The strength curve for pull Excercises are not ideal for resistance bands, as it gets harder the closer you get to your body.
      Any tips on this? I was thinking about taking a lighter band and pre-stretching, so there is less variability?

      Thanks for your videos James! I originally bought a set of the power band style like the ones you sell to do assisted pull ups because I'm terrible at pull ups and wanted to get better. Eventually I want to use them for resisted pull ups when I get stronger at them! You can either loop them inside themselves to the pull up bar like you did to the door anchor, and put you knees inside, or you can string the band across a large cage style weight rack on a barbell rest if it has multiple rests kinda like a belt, put your knees on top, and use them that way to help with your pull ups. I hope I'm making sense! Just a thought for your videos!!

      It would be interesting to see positive effects of RBT in terms of strength development results measured in the three powerlifting movements.

    • @rvb4212
      @rvb4212 5 лет назад +1

      @@RenatIlyasov I love deadlifting with bands, by stacking them up you can go pretty "heavy". Benchpress should work if you work with a bench. Not so sure about squats with multiple bands/heavy resistance.

    • @RenatIlyasov
      @RenatIlyasov 5 лет назад +2

      @@rvb4212 the bench is roughly substituted by resistance bands push ups (along with some obvious additional benefits of push ups over the flat BP). The question is how well do the RB push ups replace the BP in terms of developing strength in the movement.

    Here’s the thing. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS7ex6L4sMqpaTn4LnBPyBmRQsSingL8y These are not meant to be stretched to 12ft or 14ft or whatever else where you’re a 6ft person, stepping in the band and trying to do standing shoulder presses. If they tear, (assuming they’re not defective) then you’re trying to stretch them way too far. For a full body stretch, bands should be like three feet long, doubled over. Don’t buy the bad press. A fully extended reverse fly is avoid as far as you should stretch these. If it’s too easy, use more than one band at a time.Not rocket science.

    Extra-Pro tip: If you have to do anchor from the open side of the door, try to anchor it on the HINGE side of the door. There is a lot of extra hardware to pull against and almost no chance that the door will come open. (most doors have enough room to squeeze a foam pad through when fully open)

    I’ve been working out for a couple of weeks with these resistance bands, and they’re awesome. I now feel a lot more fibers being activated in my muscles, which I’ve never felt by working out with free weights. I now understand the concept of constant resistance in all movement planes. I love the amount of possibilities that you have when it comes to adjusting the level of resistance for each exercise. It doesn’t matter when gyms will open up again. I literally just cancelled my membership. Best of all, I can do any workout from home, or when I go to the beach with my friends and family, I use to miss those moments because I preferred to go to the gym. Now I can do both activities together and take my “portable gym” everywhere with me.

  • @HerveAttia

    Hey James, I'm a woman , who's been working out with weights, for 34 years. 4 months ago, I stopped using weights, and bought several kinds of flat bands. I get a much better workout, and my strength has significantly increased, even my grip strength. I use an old motorcycle helmet bag, to store them in. I love flat bands!! You're a good teacher, and you know that you should listen your body, to determine your workout, not numbers. The positive results show up in your body. Thanks a bunch, for your videos. You helped me get started with flat bands, and now I'm hooked. 🙂

    Another great video idea. Which would probably convince more people that this is another great choice for working out. Is to make a side by side or a machine/freeweights substitute video with the bands. Like how to do lat pulldows machine/bands. Skullcrushers with barbell/bands. A simple video in how to set up the bands to do the exact same exercises that you would in a gym. But with bands. Like a catalogue of every weight exercise along side its equivalent with bands.

    I've been waiting for your next video, glad to see it.
    I still have my gym membership but have been using mostly bands all summer and am re-thinking continuing the gym membership. Strength and tone are actually better with the bands. My only problem area is the long bicep muscle...need to take another look at your bands arm video.
    I'm 54, looking through the comments I see you've got that demographic solidly behind you. Probably because we've learned not to aggravate injury and to be aware of the movements that create injury. Bands have sooo lowered the muscle pulls, etc AND have really strengthened all those peripheral muscles that stabilize and support.
    Keep it up man, I gotta get ready to go play soccer!

    5:14 And the really cool thing is that, unlike traditional weights, resistance bands don't lose resistance when you use them on the Moon.

    James Grage, I just started using undersun bands not long ago and liking them very much. I am a truck driver and as you know health is a serious matter for this industry. Most of my questions have been answered through other videos of yours. My question or request of videos would be how to use your bands to stretch out muscles and joints safely with the use of the bands after being in the driver seat of a truck for what can be up to a 14 hour day. Thank you for all the info you put out there for us all.

    That was very impressive. At sixty three I have a small garage gym with an adjustable bench and dumbbell set as well as a power tower for dips and chin ups. This video has me thinking that It may make sense to give these power bands a go.

    I hate you sooo, so much... I started with tube resistance bands 5 years ago because of a lack of access to the gym, i knew they were a good thing but i had no idea i didn't even scratch the surface of their potential till i saw your videos a few months back... and i hate you for making it seem so obvious...
    Love the videos, keep up the good work!!!

    Bands are one of the most underrated pieces of fitness equipment. Most of my routine are bands and I haven't lost not one ounce of muscle. Super powerful and less injury prone. I haven't been in a gym in years. It's like an ancient relic at this point.

      Are just maintaining your muscles mass with bands or gaining muscles?
      Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that bands are optimal for maintain mass and free weights are optimal for gaining mass

      @@rodrigosouto9502 you can absolutely gain with bands,you train more frequently,with as much intensity as you like,without beating up your joints

    Trying to make myself a home gym to start a fitness journey. I was ready to invest hundreds of dollars to get set up with a minimal free weight set up. I am excited I found you channel because I feel like now I can get away with a pullup bar, some gymnastics rings, resistance bands and some sandbags. The resistance bands were the ticket item here that filled the need for a ton of gear. My wife and I just had our first baby and its time for me to get active and be there for the new adventures with the family. Wish me luck!

    More fitness people should push band workouts and I greatly appreciate what James is doing here. Always good stuff. I would add that tube bands can be grabbed by the tubes to gain more resistance just like the bands. And one advantage of tube bands is if your grip strength is weak you will find it easier to use the tubes with handles to work your muscles and not be limited to your grip strength. I like bands when I don’t have good anchor points ie working outside. Band workouts are great! Keep showing us the way.

    A trick i use because i use tubes is i hook my ankle straps and insert my feet now it's flipped and i curl well and i'm able to choke more. I think it's also all about how you grow and progress in training. Bless

Your video about 4 killer leg exercises is awesome but I need more exercises because I do the workout since a few months and it gets boring. I hope you can make more workout videos and show us some more killer leg exercises and workouts. Keep going with resistance bands videos please.
