Thank you very much for the great, step by step and very clear and easy to follow tutorial video. You really made my day by saving me hundreds of dollars. You’re awesome. Oh, one more thing: Love you back man. 👍
Thank you VERY much for this video! It is the only one I found with my exact issue & setup. I thought it was going to be a catastrophically expensive problem for my 2003 Expedition, but $40 and 20 minutes is all it took! Thank you again!!
Also my friend we Love you back! And appreciate you're hard work on you're film's ,for us!! At 4:17 you said I love you guy's! I speak for the majority of us I believe , God bless you!!!
Excellent video Nath! My spring might be broken on the 2002 F150 SuperCrew 4.6 I just bought off of a friend and wether it is or isn't ... I hope to see more videos from you that can help me. Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this vid. I have a Ford Taurus 2006 that's having this exact issue (I'm not by the car right now, but I'm not sure if the number of flashes is nine. In fact, I may recall it simply stays on the whole time). I'm excited to order the part, do exactly what you instruct, and fix this issue. Cheers.
UPDATE: the repair went smoothly, my horn and cruise control work again! However, the job created some new problems. First, if I open the driver door the beeping goes off as if I have left the key in the ignition, but I haven’t. Second, when I lock the car, the driver door lock pops down, but then pops back up again, so I have to manually lock it now. All the other locks are fine. Third, there’s a weird vibration noise now when the car’s on that goes away only if I push down on the top of the plastic panel above the steering wheel, the one that I took off to change out the clockspring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@@murica9678 thank you for replying bro. Now that you have installed a new clock spring ive been told to reset the pcm/ecm/computer. There is a video on how to. Supposedly this will help.

Great video appreciate the step by step instructions. I have a 2004 ford explorer Eddie bauer edition with a V6 and I'm in need to replace the horn contact. Cant find one anywhere any ideas where to get or if another one from another model can be used.
hey nathan would the clock spring make the horn stay on? i checked the relay it is good. and was that the horn switch on the air bag and will that make the horn stay on?
* Quick question? I have a 2007 Ford F-350 & my code flashes is (Airbag Circuit Resistance High) do you think I need to change my clock spring? I still can press my horn & it work but I get the same airbag light you had...
06. F350 replaced the clock spring twice. Horn still stays stuck on and its always in the most convenient locations too. This last time i hit it so hard and so many times it is permanently stuck on. Using fuse sockets and a wire soon
Been searching for this tutorial. The shaft in the middle of the column on my 03 is loose. Wiggles. Its that exact setup and I've had the steering wheel off a couple times. Deleted the airbag and the horn and put a small aftermarket button for the horn. Anyhow, I think I need to do the bearing behind that switch. Any advice?
Excellent Nathan! 😃😊 I enjoyed the clock spring replacement on you're Land Rover and you're Ford explorer! I didn't know the problem , or solve until watching you're films. Now I feel confident to fix that problem if it occurs and look for those symptoms. Thank you!!
One serious concern is to not be sitting behind or have your head or other body parts directly behind air bag in case there is a fault and the bag deploys. You may be in for major bruising or much worse. While training students and techs how to deal with air bags, we recommend battery disconnection (per manufacturer recommendations) and for safety, to have the ignition in on position in case of deployment while reconnecting final negative battery cable.
I have an 06 expedition Eddie Bauer, with the same issues, I actually unhook the airbag and the horn from the steering wheel and now my headlights don’t work so I was wondering if I change out the clock spring and put the airbag back to the steering wheel if maybe that was the reason why the headlights aren’t working
If you had a truck with a rebuilt title, and the horn doesn't work. Would replacing the clock spring cause the new airbag to pop? For the time being I have a momentary switch wired up but I'd rather have a more clean factory look
Nathan Rohrbough hi Nathan, after replacement my horn and steering control buttons work but airbag light still on , what could be the problem ? Please help
I have a 2014 Ford F150 the horn doesn't work when I press the horn button on the steering wheel I know the horn works because it works off of the remote when I press the panic button I don't have any other problems with any of the buttons on the steering wheel volume for the radio works cruise control works Etc do you think a clock spring could just cause the horn alone not to work
Ey bro today from the nothing the air bag light turned on, but it only do it when I turn the steering wheel to the left, when I turn it to the right the light just turns off it's disturbing! You think is time to change the clockspring?
My 02 Eddie Bauer has a weird problem. Every once and a while, the horn will go off randomly. As if someone is just holding the horn down. Have to unhook the fuses. My buddy mentioned changing the clock spring out, as he sold a Ford F150 that had a random horn too and the clock spring was replaced and that fixed it. What's your opinion on this? Thanks.
Do you know if there are any differences in the 2006 Expedition? The mechanic wants almost $1000 to replace mine with a factory Ford clock spring costing $400!
I'm wondering if the connector that was already disconnected may have been your problem in the first place. Was it like that, or did you already unplug that cable off camera? You might not have even needed to change the part. Thanks for the vid!! Very helpful!!
It's probably just for a component his car doesn't have, but still part of the standard wiring harness. For example, my Mazda B4000 (same as Ford Ranger) doesn't have cruise control, but there are a couple unused plugs on the harness which would otherwise connect to the cruise parts.
The green plastic tie that you cut before installation should be cut after installation, why is that? Because the clock spring rotates 2 times to the left and 2 times to the right, so it's centered. If you rotate it to any direction before installation it will break immediately because it's not centered . Thanks tho your video is informative.
Your most likely going to have to get a 2/3 jaw puller from your local auto parts store to get the steering wheel off. Other wise you risk stripping your shaft
Oh how I wish this man was near me right now. The horn doesn't work & the driver's airbag light is on!! No one wants to touch it out of fear of that airbag & premature deployment. I dread taking it to the dealer, but it looks like I have no choice 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
How did you learn about cars? Auto tech school, self taught, mentor or Mom has pictures of you at at 3 years old disassembling an automatic transmission. They say Tesla was born that way?
