    Did same when replacing evaporator on my 12 Expedition. It took 2 months till air bag light came on then shortly after I lost radio controls. Will be getting a clock spring tomorrow and replacing. Thank you much for the very informative video.

    This video made me so happy at a time when I needed it most lol I removed my whole dash. Got my ass kicked the whole way replacing parts in my HVAC unit. Just to back out of my driveway and hear a snap and then the airbag light came on. Looks like an easy fix. About to search the part and order it. Thank you so much. I'm your newest subscriber!

      I did the same thing removing my dash for the HVAC repair, and that’s exactly how I broke my clock spring. Bust of luck, the clock spring was the least painful part of the whole job.

    Easy fix! One thing I saw on another channel, when messing with the airbags before reconnecting the battery put the key in the on position. That way, if something makes the airbag go off it will do it before you are in range of it.

    I did almost the exact same thing hahaha!! The difference though, my own curiosity got the best of me. I had wondered how many times the steering wheel could turn... My hypothesis: Infinite rotations. Experimental Results: Finite number until coiled ribbon cable is put in tension.

    Thx , I changed my intermediate lower steering shaft and messed with the clockspring with battery on , now nothing works on it . Hope I’ll fixe it that way tomorrow.

    Great job explaining, the only issue I had was getting the airbag out of the steering wheel. The right side pin was hard to get to but finally got it

    Thanks for this video. Only my horn didn't work. I took the airbag off unhooked the 3 wires 2 airbags and 1 red. I suspect the red is the horn. And the three tabs on the back of the air background to the plate on the string wheel, and that makes your horn honk. I cleaned all the contacts and checked the red wire. I didn't find anything obvious.So I put it back together and now the horn works. So I'm guessing just dirty contacts.

    getting ready to do this. One I noticed in another video is you don't need to remove the horn plate. But great tutorial Thanks!

    Ford had a recall on the airbag clockspring harness back in 2011. I have a 2006 F150, I thing your year was in that range for the recall.

      Steve Olson not that I know of but I’m no professional, just a guy trying to save some money and work on anything I can figure out. I went tight enough that I didn’t think it would come loose on its own.

    How long did you let your car sit when battery was unhooked

    • @JerusBarnett

      Probably 3 days while I was working on it (did a bunch of other work when I happened to break the clock spring) But no more than 5-10 min needed.

    you think a clock spring may be why my horn doesnt blow pressing the pad. horn works off remote panic

    • @JerusBarnett
      @JerusBarnett  4 года назад +1

      It will either be the clock spring or the wire that connects the back of the airbag to the horn circuit. Try popping the airbag out and looking for the horn wire and make sure it is connected. If all looks good there it is probably the clock spring going out.

    My volume control buttons on the steering wheel did not work, it was the clockspring.

    imma try to tackle this. my horn doesnt work. everything else on the wheel does. horn works on panic button tho just not on the pad.

    where in the world did that horn wire plug into?? I can't find any female recepticles on the airbag
    edit: for anyone else wondering, there's a metal tongue on the airbag it slides onto

    • @JerusBarnett
      @JerusBarnett  4 года назад +1

      Sorry it took a while to get back to you, you are right there is a metal tab on the airbag (male terminal) that the wire connector (female connector) hooks onto

    YOU did a great Video brother. Funny how there is not ONE '09 Expedition video on clocksprings. Plenty that say F-150-350 07'-14.' But no one mentions the 09 Expedition. I appreciate your work but youtube has NO answers to my dilemma. 60lbs of pressure and the tricky little airbag spring doesn't even budge? I call bullshit
