Awesome! Why did it take me over a month of watching other limited value, overly chatty videos, before I finally found Paul. Wow, what a difference. Paul's explanations and demonstrations are more efficient and effective than any others viewed on RUclips. Something is wrong with RUclips's algorithms as I spent weeks looking for a good fit. The searches kept bringing up the same five or six artists that did not meet my needs. Then finally I came upon one of Paul's videos by accident and after that I immediately subscribed. His sense of humor is a happy bonus. Loved the Bob Ross tribute!
Hi Maria - thanks for the lovely comment and delighted you have joined us - keep in touch!
Agreed, finally I get it
Gorgeous! I am totally inspired by you. Xx
I want to cry because none of my attempts look like your beautiful drawings Mr. Clark. But i never give up! :)
Thank you so much 😀 ... keep going, you'll get there!
You sir are my favorite youtuber for watercolors. Cannot thank you enough for not charging for this valuable information.
Just what the doctor ordered, never thought too much about perspective, after watching ur video it makes sense to me, thank u
I am 72 years old and this is the FIRST explanation of perspective that I’ve ever heard, which makes sense and gives you a method to follow. THANK YOU, Paul.
That’s great to hear Virginia 😋
"Are we sitting comfortably children?" I snorted unexpectedly with laughter...must be the pain meds. Enjoyable and informative, Paul. Thank you. 🎨
Glad you enjoyed it Gina - always love reading your comments!!!!
‘Are you sitting comfortably children?’ Is most likely from a radio show in England, when I was a child in England..It was called ‘Listen with mother’ and it would start with ‘Are you sitting comfortably?’ Then I’ll begin’...So cute...love these classes...make so much sense.
Gina, I had a chuckle at that, too! 😁
Thanks Sir Paul, for helping us get the correct angle to draw a house with the correct background, love your paintings. From INDIA 🇮🇳♥
You are very welcome
Finally! I get it! Now I can draw buildings and stuff without getting a migraine! This is the best explanation I have ever seen. Thanks, Paul. I'm going to do this one, if it kills me! :) Love the autumny colours.
That's great stuff Margaret! - take it nice and slowly. I do this lesson with my students and for some it takes a little time to sink in - but it's really worth the effort!!!
I have never had such a good lesson in perspective drawing. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful Carole!
Thank you for taking the time to teach perspective , I’m learning a lot from your lessons , love your style of painting xoxo
You are so welcome Monica!!
I remember my teacher trying to explain perspective to me and I finally just said I understood when I did not have a clue.
After watching this I realize that it helps if the one teaching understands the principles.
Many excellent artists just understand intuitively or they are good copyists and simply paint what they see.
I don't think you get this instruction even in many art schools.
Thank you so much. I learned a lot.
Thanks Andrea - nice comment and totally agree - you have to be able to 'see it' your self!
Andrea Marr, lol I have done the same thing sooooo many times throughout school when I still didn't understand something, even after asking questions about 3 times for the same problem lol. I could tell if the teachers were getting annoyed by me not understanding something, so I always ended up saying, Oh Yes I See it Now, 🤣🤣🤦♀️🙋♀️🙆♀️🤷♀️ Honestly I still do that every once in a while. 🥰🤭
Brilliant. I have 3 books relating to perspective and your video is the first time I have understood it. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I can never get enough lessons on perspective, especially when they're as thorough and easy to replicate as this one. Thank you kindly, Paul!
You're very welcome RR - many thanks!
Watching you paint reminds me of my late husband. He was a lifelong professional artist and couldn't make a mistake. I've been an artist, and a journalist, and a mother, and for a time, a barmaid. Giggle. Until I retired I rarely had time to paint, now, I have long endless days to play. I do have to worry about eyestrain though after 8 or 10 hours hunched over the easel.
Great comment Robin and thank you - you are not alone with the eye strain thing!!!
Thank you Paul for the refreshing course on perspective drawing.
Glad it was helpful!
I understand perspective…well I thought I did. A seriously helpful explanation. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful April!
Just happened to see this tutorial mentioned in an art Facebook page and thought I'd look into it. Wow! What a treasure to find! Perspective has always muddled my mind (I'm 72 yrs. young) but this was very clear and concise. Did a little "lookey-loo" into your book , too, and find I must have it!! I'm not a total beginner (5 yrs. into watercolor or any type of art at all) but I find I'm never beyond learning more of the basics. I love this little painting as well and will give it a go. Thank you very your generous teaching. Happy New Year from California!
Many thanks and a happy New Year to you too in California!
Wow i never knew this detailed stuff about perspective drawing thanks for this! Loved the painting too. 👍🏽
Thank you so much Izzat 😀
Excellent video! Thanks so much!! ...even my right brain understood that!
You're very welcome! - it's always good to have a two sided brain!!!
This 3 year old video will never get old. Fantastic! And great music too.
Glad you enjoyed it! - thanks for the tip too!
Oh my gosh! So, so helpful. Perspective is the bane of my existence. Thank you so much for breaking it down in easy to understand language.
Glad it was helpful Christina!
I loved learning about perspective. I understood a little more watching through this tutorial a second time. Thanks Paul for all you do for us!!! You and Margo are the greatest!!! 😊
Oh my God! Simply amazing! Fall is my favorite color! So, it is midnight and I have seen two of your videos back to back. I will have to go over perspective and points tomorrow 😂 Thank you!
Great to hear Martha - enjoy 👍😀
Best lesson in perspective I have ever followed... but I'm only 74 so who knows what lies ahead!
Hi Sue - glad to hear that ... never too old to learn!
That is the best explanation of perspective I’ve ever seen!
Wow, thanks Mark - great compliment!!!!
Hi Paul, I love your tutorials. Line and wash has become one of my new fav's😊. I've been wanting to paint buildings but was confused about perspective. This lesson is GREAT! I'm going to book Mark it on my computer. Probably watch it several times. Thanks have a great day 💕
Thanks, Paul for making this so easy!!!
Now I think I can do this, such a joy to watch you and hear your commentary as you go, such a lift to my day. Thank you for what you share.
You are so welcome Rita - happy to help!
Thank you so much Paul! Such a great lesson on perspective, and it has really helped me tremendously. When I looked at my drawing, I could tell something was not quite right, but never knew how to correct it. This makes so much sense now!
Glad it was helpful melody - many thanks!
Brilliant, as ever. Knowing perspective and putting into practice not necessarily the same thing.
I’ll watch over and over until it sticks! Many thanks for your inspiration and great teaching.
Glad it was helpful Dilys and good plan - watch it a few times and it will sink in!!!!
This subject usually scares me… But Paul, you have shown me the way 😊 It all makes great sense and once you stick to the formula it is easy as riding your bike 🚲 Thank you.. So grateful ✏️🎨🖍
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh wow, now I understand! I'm so happy - no more slanted, irregular-shaped houses and buildings anymore! Thank you so much! 🌹

Lol! - Glad you enjoyed Billy and thanks! - splats will always be there - even when I'm just writing someone a letter!!
Just finishes painting this cottage, great lesson on perspective, thank you!

Glad it helped Lizzy and thanks!
This was wonderful!! I am new at watercolor and have been struggling quite a bit!! Thank you soooo much!!
Glad it was helpful Jenny! - if your new to it, be warned, it's very addictive!!!
Loved it! I took a drawing class and couldn't get it. So I found a high school teacher on line teaching her students and I got it. Watching you was like being in a classroom. Seeing it in a painting was great. Will try it. Paul when this COVID is truly over I'm coming to England to take one of your classes. God bless and stay safe!🤗
That is awesome and you would be most welcome here!!! - ! God bless and stay safe too! 🤗
Learned this in art school of course but you are a much better teacher. Now,can you do the sketch of that old row boat step by step. I've made dozens of drawings but I just can't get it right. Tried a couple of paintings when I thought I had gotten it right, only to end up with lovely watercolors of boats never seen in this world. Sigh.
Thanks again Robin - The boat can be tricky - often a mistake I see is people tend to draw it as if it's going up hill - remember the boat is laying fairly flat in the water with the seat slats horizontal. I'll do some more boat tutorials soon with some drawing tips!!!
You are amazing! It is always a miracle for me to see how you have a perfect feeling for the right time when to stop with details! I am always in danger from overdoing my paint and than it doesn't look good. Thank you very much! 💓🎉
Thanks Petra - I agree, knowing when to stop is a real challenge. I've ruined many paintings this way but it will come with experience! 👍
Paul thanks for sharing your amazing detail in achieving a brilliant end result, greatly appreciating your videos to inspire others how best for improving our clear and detailed paintings too. Thanks greatly appreciated stay safe
Many thanks as always Phillip. glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you, thank you! For the first time in my long life, this makes a lot of sense!!! You are the best, Paul Clark!!!
Happy to help!
This is a fantastic tutorial for anybody learning to sketch. By following the perspective instructions step by step I've been able to produce something that actually looks realistic. Thank you !
Glad it was helpful!
Your mini lesson on perspective is priceless! The clearest, simplest and most educational I have seen, thanks!
Honestly, I don't get why you don't have more subscribers given your artistic and educational talents... Hope that number of subscribers goes up quickly, it would be well deserved!
Wow, thanks Eric! - only been doing this 6 months so plenty of time to grow!!! - more to come!
Thanks again for a great lesson! I’ve always been able to draw but perspective always gave my left handed brain a cramp! I’ve watched this twice now. I’m going to give a go now! I’m always sad when your lesson ends!
Happy to help Dorothy!!!
I've read and have seen demonstrations of drawing perspective before. This was the clearest one yet. Your video's production is very well done. Now I need to get off my arse and get painting!
Lol! - go for it Jean!
out of my art class in my younger years how to draw a building is the only one I do remember......Thank you for the refresher course.
Pleased to help Edie!
Great lesson on perspective for us newbies. I knew some of it but this helped put it into perspective.....lol. Awesome work. Now we cant draw a building and have it look normal
Glad it was helpful Marlene - many thanks!
Yes, I remember way back when hearing terminology Paul used and his explanation for why it is what it is makes perfect sense.
Great lesson! You make it look so easy! Thank you.
You're very welcome Susie!!!! - cheers
Hi Paul. I am very new to drawing and painting and the thing I love to draw are buildings. However, my brain has been unable to grasp perspective. I have watched numerous RUclips videos promising ‘the only video you will ever need’ etc and practiced over and over. Because I didn’t understand it my drawings always looked terrible. I discovered your channel a few days ago and absolutely love your work and the way you teach. As Tina would say…. Better than all the rest 🎼. Today this video popped up and I got it - immediately. You showed perspective in a way that my brain could understand and I am so excited to start my first scene in perspective 🎉. Thank you so much Paul.
Thanks so much and delighted to help - have you seen this recent video of mine - more good stuff about perspective at the start! ruclips.net/video/tP31R7iGihQ/видео.html
Thank you for explaining perspective. I can't wait to try it! So clear and concise. .,
WOW!! I am sure I'll have to watch this at least a dozen times before I get it right. The explanation of perspective you gave was great. A bit conry at the start- glad you don't carry on too much :) Your book should arrive today and I am anxious to get into it. I recreated your poppy field and I was quite pleased. Actually, I did 2- one from another youtube artist but yours is much more pleasing to the eye. Thank you for your instruction. I am having SO much fun.
Great stuff Cherly, many thanks - let know how you get on with the book!
I truly enjoyed this pen and wash tutorial and the perspective drawing instructions/tips were very helpful - thank you!
Glad it was helpful Lori - many thanks!
That was a revelation. Amazing. I have not received any kind of formal teaching in any kind of art / drawing and that lesson was brilliant.
Wonderful Jeff - delighted to help!!
Thank you so much ,Paul! Thank you for your time and best lessons.
Glad you like them!
I'm working on a similar type of painting: my childhood house in the USA.
Great stuff Francis - hope it helps!
I have watched this so many times. I have been practicing it and I think I am getting it! I have never actually understood perspective, so thanks! Do you explain this in your book as well?
Thanks Kirsten - don't worry, it always takes time to sink in! - I do explain this in by book but perhaps not in so much detail.
Fabulous! Thank so much!
What a great tutorial! I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard a more comprehensive, yet simple way of doing perspective. You took the intimidation out of two point perspective for me. I’m a relative newcomer to your channel and I am really enjoying all of your wonderful tutorials. Love your style (in every way that can be ineterpreted)!
Glad it was helpful! - thanks so much!
This has to be the best and clearest explanation of perspective that I have ever seen or heard. I have just finished the drawing example and a couple of others using what I have learned and I now feel thrilled to bits. Thank you Paul for your teaching.
Glad it was helpful! thanks!
It’s really a great way of teaching. The sounds of the birds and cows at the end are also very interesting.
I appreciate and enjoy this kind of teaching.
Thank you very much.
Many many thanks
A good review on perspective. A great example on how to put in trees and shrubs and make them appear to be real. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are a great teacher. Thank you. ❤️
You are so welcome!
☀️so great ~Thank You ~ the cottage brought back wonderful memories of my Doll House which I got for 🎄Christmas when I was young ~
Wonderful Dianne!!

Second time watching this vid. I'm understanding perspective so much better. Awsome and thx Paul
Great to hear!
SO helpful!!! Paul, you're the best!
Happy to help as always Robin!
Wow! I am addicted to your tutorials Paul. At last I get it! I also understand I must loosen up with my watercolour efforts. I start off that way but then seem to tighten up and overwork my paintings. I can honestly say you are inspiring me more and more to improve. I have been retired for many years and find painting and drawing make so much difference to my life. A very big thank you.
Glad you like them!
Thank you Mr Clark , drawing buildings this way is brilliant .. thank you again.
Goodness that was the best perspective lesson I've ever seen! Thanks Paul...no more guess work!
Glad you liked it!
That lesson should receive an award. Applause please!!! Thank you for filling my art lesson cup again....
You are so welcome!
Always a brilliant demonstration. You are among the very best teachers Paul. Thanks.
Glad you think so!
Another picture of yours that I came across and really like and will try to paint it this weekend.😅
You are the best!!! The easiest presentation of two point perspective I have ever seen! Thanks so much for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Great lesson and love watching you paint. Thanks
My pleasure Doris
Paul, you are so much fun to watch as you paint! Thank you for all your teachings.
You are very welcome
Really helpful video on perspective and water colouring. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Thank you, your explanations are so clear and you make it seem so achievable. I can’t wait to give this a try.
Excellent, clear quick and concise guide to draw a structure in perspective. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I am completely lost, never have grasped this! ...I need perspective for complete dummies! And no its not a piece of cake! ...maybe i need to watch it over and over a million times!
Hi Michelle - Yes watch it a few times but just look at simple objects around you and see how they taper and converge as things get further away from your eye sight.
Thank you so much for this lesson about perspective! It makes things much clearer, I never really understood it until I saw you drawing that cottage.
Glad it was helpful!
Bril painting and perspective with line and wash explanation was also
explained which means I know how it works
Thanks Paul
Glad you enjoyed it
You make it look so easy I cannot wait to get started thanks Paul.
