    I just love this painting of the house. You are truly a good Artist. I’m also an artist. I’m going to take a photo of our house and try to paint it using your method. I don’t do Instagram yet but I will try to figure it out and post it for you. I’m not computer savvy. Last Christmas, I painted abstract city skylines of all the cities we lived in, my husband was transferred around a lot with his company. Anyway, I painted 5 cities and gave them to my children for Christmas. They loved them. I live in Texas, USA. Thank you for sharing this painting and your method of painting it. - Sheryl from Belton, TX - USA

    Hi Lou I am really loving this series I got my late husband’s painting tools and paints and have started to have a go, not very well but it is a start. Drawing the house was a revelation to me as I adore anything with buildings on. I wished I lived nearer so I could attend your classes once lockdown is over. You are such a natural at teaching Lou and so wonderfully talented. Thank you for keeping us all going through this difficult time. Please keep yourself safe, big hugs and loves - keep safe and vigilant Everyone xxxxxx Dorothy 🌟❤️😘🙋🏻

    Thank you for explaining how to do perspective so simply! Especially with the X for the roofline and how the horizontal lines for the windows should line up. Loved how you explained it all so clearly.
    One question I have - on layering the watercolors: why not just do one layer of the color you want for the end result instead of adding layers to darken the first? I've never been clear on that. I've seen some artists for instance put the palest of washes down, let's say olive green. Then they take that same pale wash and layer it over the first when dry. Then again. So 3 washes of the same color to achieve a darker color. Why not just do the darker color right off in one layer?

    • @LouDavis
      @LouDavis  Год назад

      Thanks! Glad it was helpful to you!
      On the layering - as with most art there’s no right and wrong way to do it. Layering darker colours over lighter ones can give more of a continuity if you’re leaving some of the areas to be the lighter tone. Also watercolour painted in one layer can dry quite flat, as it always dries lighter, so going over areas again adds depth. If you’re curious, try both and see which you prefer.

    Nezapomeňte, že dům stojí ve svahu a tak průnik s terénem nesměřuje do stejného úběžníku jako římsa. 👍
