This is the best explanation of perspective I have ever heard or read. Thank you. What has helped me the most IS how to determine perspective when I'm looking at something. AND what/where is the horizon line. I also like your tip about starting with one small building. I was trying to draw all the things I saw UNTIL I ran out of room on my page. That was rather overwhelming!

I found it useful to sketch the empty spaces around an object. The object then emerges on its own in an interesting way, more interesting than if it were drawn directly - for example, a chair that would otherwise look like it had been drawn by a child reveals its natural shape by simply drawing the empty spaces around it. Drawing the empty spaces helps you avoid focusing on overly simplistic ideas about the object that prevent you from actually “seeing” it in an artistic way. Same with a house, a person, a flower, anything.

Perspective definitely. I know that I will add pencil lines until I get that down. The other thing is I don’t have to do the whole street 😂 Duh. I have tried to sketch my church which is quit big and a bit ornate. I have tried to do the whole building and I totally loose the perspective as it goes down the block. My next try I will just do the bell tower. This was awesome and definitely put things into PERSPECTIVE. 😂😂😂😂. Thank You.
