I did a lot of painting 20 years back, but my cooperate life never let me touch my brushes. But after watching this video it ignited my passion for painting - I woke up those brushes after a long slumber. Washing style of painting something I am really weak at, but your tips gave me some confidence. Thank you for posting such an amazing tutorial.
Thank you. I am here in New Zealand, feel low because my wife has had to fly to the UK urgently due to a family illness. Your calm approach and relaxed style has made me feel strangely happier. I am just starting my watercolour journey, and this was very inspiring Thank you so much.
Thank you sir for this simple yet informative tutorial. The simplicity with which you told “don’t worry about whether it comes out good or not good” helped make a positive change in my attitude towards my practice
Very soothing, relaxing, lovely and tensionfree demonstration, and yet so beautiful. Thanks. To me, autorickshaws in paintings, specially in rainy scenes gives a strange sense of comfort, protection, speed and dreamy effect. Lovely.
Nowadays days I am crying inside because this art is left to me. school days this is my hobby 15 years later I tried it, but art is already my left my hand
This is beautiful! I love this style for watercolor. Thank you for your encouragement as well, that we should try things and see if we like them instead of trying to be perfect every time.
So happy to hear your feedback! These are easily doable with little bit of practice. I will try to post more such practice videos. Thanks for your feedback 🙏
Hi I cant tell you how happy i am to have found your channel! I have been looking for a simple way to learn to sketch with pen loosely and color with inks or watercolor and to have found you using indian products and scenes was so helpful and relatable! :) Thanks for the great work!
I've found painting loosely is something I struggle with. This tutorial is very helpful! Your advice is spot on and something I would always remember ❤
I am going to watch all your tutorials and try them everyday, I wanted to do loose paintings for so long. But didn't find a good tutorial. I am just a beginner and found your videos so interesting and easy to follow. Please don't stop making them.

I just watched your interview by J Narayanan! I learnt more about you & your art, than I have in all your exhibits I have viewed here !! Spellbound 😊😮😊😮
It’s really a difficult question to answer. As far as I know, the decision of which colour to use depends upon various factors - the subject being painted where different elements may have different local colours, the style of work, the ambience/atmosphere/mood you want to create, the colour perspectives, considerations like colour balancing, harmony etc. It’s a big subject and I haven’t learnt enough academically explain these topics. I pick up my colour based on what I ‘feel’ as appropriate. This feeling is something that got evolved over a period of time painting in watercolours. Some of the basic considerations I naturally make while picking colours are: - colour perspective where I make farther elements with diffused colours, nearer elements with slightly stronger colours. - colour contrast for focal elements where I give colour contrasts and stronger colours to the focal elements - less colour contrast for less important elements so that they don’t grab too much of viewer’s attention. - tonal considerations where colours are picked/mixed to get the right tonal value. Hope the above helps a bit..

Thank you very much! I could have done that. That should be the way if everything was planned in advance. If I was recreating this work, I would do that. Here I started with the main ideas and the rest of the ideas came along the way while painting. This was just a practice to loosen up and to generate new ideas as the painting progresses..
Usually I record the video indoor with some artificial lighting. My lightings are not very professional ones and doesn't match well with natural lights. The photo at the end was clicked under natural light in the open air and they always look much better.
I’ve had the chance to review some of your works, and I was instantly drawn to them. I’m interested in purchasing a few pieces. Are they currently available for sale?
I usually use Indian handmade Watercolor paper Chitrapat brand, cold pressed paper, 270 GSM or 440 GSM. For this work, I have used cartridge paper, A4 size and I think it is 120 GSM.
I think I have used brushes from Camel Artist Mop brush set for this. These brushes are a bit soft. When I want more control on the details, I sometimes use synthetic round brushes from stationerie brand..
I am so bad at this that i get depressed with my art , the more i practice the more sadder i get. how do you suggest me to get into art and get better without the feeling of despair
Please don't be hard on yourself. If you are relatively new to watercolours, particularly the loose approach, it takes quite a bit of practice and patience. With loose approach, you can not precisely recreate the reference work - you may have to practice the approach and refine it. We all develop with practice! Please continue the practice.😊🙏

how do you get to these colours in the end, did the paint dry or you modified it on your computer post-scanning?
