Dual wielding berettas, walking in slow motion while doves fly, sparks flying off things that cant make sparks, lack of reloads until it becomes necessary for a martil arts showdown scene, this is John Woo at his finest!
@@RedEyeReviews Looks like you're picking up speed though. Well earned, keep it up ! Really had some laugh out loud moments bingeing your Seagalverse stuff, which is rare :D
I personally love the scene with Lance Henrikson where he retrieves the grenade from his pants and managed to unscrew it before it sparks blowing him up.
If you like that one. Then you'll love "Surviving the Game" from 1994 with Rutger Hauer and Ice-T. Synopsis for that one is: A homeless man is hired as a survival guide for a group of wealthy businessmen on a hunting trip in the mountains, unaware that they are killers who hunt humans for sport, and that he is their new prey.
Speaking of Rutger Hauer movies I would love to see covered on this channel, One of my favorites is called, "Blind Fury." I don't know if this counts as spoilers, but that movie helped me a great deal coming to terms with being disabled (I've been disabled for seven or eight years now) when I re-watched it a few months ago. I'm a very avid practitioner of martial arts and ever since becoming disabled I haven't been able to find a style I could practice in that was also in my area. Lately I've started structuring a style all my own and I'm currently codifying it on an official level. I even aspire to teach it to others one day once I'm at a point where I can do so. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, but suffice to say that Blind Fury did a lot for me and hopefully that's enough to recommend others to give it a watch if they haven't already. :D
That's incredible! So cool to see that you didn't let something get in the way of your passion. I could imagine how difficult that journey has been, but keep kicking ass. Blind Fury might already be on the list. But if not, I'll add it for sure
Some nice trivia about this movie - the first target, Natashas' father, is played by writer Chuck Pfarrer, who actually has real life military experience from his service as a Navy SEAL.
Jcvd is ironically and unironically the best, kickboxer is the very first movie I can remember watching tong po was the scariest antagonist. You should check out double team it's so bad I love it.
I loved this one. first time i saw Yancy Butler, i was in love with that face. You have Lance as the ultimate baddy. love all his work. He is so underrated. more important, i laughed so many times because of this video. thank you
Only now discovered this channel. I thought "here's another reaction video" but as a big martial art film fan I thought I'd give it a watch. Well done sir.. My kind of humour and in a saturated genre, you have a fresh approach 👍🏼
12:30 OMG, Lance Henriksen is a national treasure. If they did a full-length movie of "Lance Henriksen Washing the Dishes" I'd pay to see that. His IMDb bio is pretty interesting - his youth sounds like something out of Dickens, and he didn't learn to read until he was 30. Lots of interesting quotes and photos.
Definitely one of the best JCVD movies. JCVD, Lance Henriksen, Arnold Vosloo, all the awesome John Woo stuff and Wilford Brimley gets to be badass. and tbf, JCVD looks so much like a 90's cop, even though he's sleeping rough, in this that there's no wonder they just let him do cop things
The reason this premise is so familiar is because it's one of many, many adaptations of Richard Connell's 1924 novel The Most Dangerous Game. That book has been adapted for film sooooo many times it's ridiculous.
You left out the best bit where henrikson rather than throwing the grenade away unscrews the detonator and keeps hold of it (only to then get blown to bits) :)
Great review! Lance Henriksen always plays a really good bad guy. JCVD is giving Seagal a run for his money! And I can't see Wilford Brimley without saying "diabeetis".
How come you don't have more subs than this?! You sir are truly awesome! I especially like your run-through of Steven Segals acting career Hahahaha the pasta segment, I wasn't expecting that.

Right?! I think Face/Off is fairly close to his original style (doves, slo-mo, and guns) but you can also tell he is branching out of that style a bit as well
You absolutely need to do a review on the short series Jean-Claude Van Johnson. Played by van damme. Where he plays a washed up actor and basically plays himself. Its super self aware and he makes fun of himself in it. Its awesome.
You should check out The Condemned (2007), where prisinirs go on an island and rich people gamble on who would survive. Don't know why this movie reminded me of it.
@redeye you missed an opportunity Wilford Brimley (the uncle) was also the diabetes commercial guy and now immortalized by "DIABETUS" memes but I loved the review regardless
This is my favorite of JCVD. I actually liked watching Lance Henrikson’s losing his cool. 10:44-a lot of people criticize him for this stunt 11:11-I’ve never forgot the look on her face when she saw the snake
I remember watching this movie and thinking Lance Henricks one-shot gun was so cool, being so powerful it could only hold one bullet at a time. Of course, now it seems really impractical. You also skipped the part where he fishes the grenade out of his pants and screws it apart, but then just holds it there allowing the spark from the detonator to set off the grenade anyway.
Hard Target was a 90's classic. As an Englishman I have to ask you RedEye to do Scott Adkins movies he was in Hard Target 2. He is amazing in Ninja and Ninja Shadow of A Tear! He is also great at playing a Russian as he is Boyka in the Undisputed films, well the last three as the first one was Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames. He was also Russian in The Expendables 2 as JCVD's Henchman.
Not gonna lie. I'm still waking up and read Scott Adkins as "Rowan Atkinson" and was very confused picturing Mr.Bean running around dressed as a ninja lol. But for sure he is badass. I haven't seen his ninja stuff, but I did love the Boyka movies
Why is everyone dressed for Midwestern fall in the sweltering Southern summer heat?! 1:17 Notice how Lance accidentally broke open his T/C Contender (Thompson/Center Contender in .45-70 but with the sights removed for no reason). He must have confused the trigger guard-mounted cam lever for a secondary trigger or something. 3:25 Bit of cultural trivia, but this was a year before that style was given the name "mullet." I think '94 was the year I "cut the mullet" (mine was more MacGyver-like) and just went with a Bart Simpson spike. JCVD as Guile kinda had that look. 3:35 Totally not dressed for the climate. Also notice how he has his sleeves cuffed even though this is the early '90s, not the late '80s. 6:27 Arnold Vosloo was born to play roles like this. 8:30 Sound suppressor and brass catcher make sense given the circumstances. Is that a night vision scope? 9:17 Does that trunk even shut all the way? 9:23 / 9:41 As a foodie who's only slightly chonk, I reel underrepresented in pop culture. 9:35 Pellets. 9:37 Too much spread. Also, that's the wrong angle given the direction the muzzle was facing. This was before forensic shows were all the rage, but it's still insulting. I'll give it a partial pass because it's John Woo and he's all about style and spectacle and we all know we love it. 11:38 One of Wilford's best roles. Again, notice how they're dressed for Midwestern fall even though it's the deep South and it looks like summer. And rolled-up sleeves! Always the rolled-up sleeves! 11:58 I don't know French, but I've always wanted to know what he's saying there. Cajun defiance! 12:28 Notice Sven-Ole Thorsen there with a Valmet M-78/83 similar to the one used by Arnie in 'Commando' (which was also used in 'Predator'), but this one is chambered for 7.62x51mm instead of 7.62x39mm and is outfitted with an optic, plus it was converted to full-auto (I researched it on IMFDB), so it sort of pulls double duty as both a machine gun and a designated marksman's rifle. Totally Vladof! 13:25 He's gunzerking! John Woo's trademark. In Borderlands 2, one of Salvador's remarks when you activate his Gunzerker action skill is, "CHOW YUN-FAAAAT!" In practical terms, a submachine gun is way more utilitarian than pistols akimbo. In real-world terms, that is, not Borderlands terms. 13:41 Only in movies are hand grenades worn that way, hanging off D-rings while dangling around all haphazard-like. Professionals stash their gear properly. For hand grenades, that means in pouches. 15:08 "Two guns? So what?!" ~Nomad Taskmaster from Borderlands 2 15:18 Something that's always irked me about formulaic action movies is how the good guys always favor handguns while the bad guys are using various automatics (assault rifles, submachine guns, etc.). If the hero picks up and uses one of those, they ditch it and go back to their sidearm. Even Die Hard does this. Great movie, but could have been better. No one in that movie ever extracted the stocks on their MP5A3s (which were actually modified HK94s). McClane only extracts the stock when he's using the gun as a grappling hook. Something else that irks me, regarding movie tropes, is when characters fail to scrounge resources. In Battle Royale 2, toward the end, one of the characters is using a ye olde AK and he mentions to his comrade that he's out of ammo, but there are plenty of G36s lying around, along with mags that likely have ammo in them, AND AG36 grenades launchers mounted on some of the rifles. Presumably, that should mean there were some 40 Mike Mikes lying around. As much as I'm annoyed by video game logic, this is an example of how video game logic trumps movie logic, at least from a player/viewer's perspective.
Dude I know I don't comment on all of your comments, but rest assured I do read them all. And yours are always amazing. You are literally reacting to my reaction, and it brings a smile to my face each time I read these. Keep up the good work friend

Great review! JCVD is living legend! I have met actor Lance Henriksen. He really is a bad ass in this movie. Do you monetize your movie reviews since you use long movie clips? Thanks!
Rattlesnakes lose their rattles yearly as part of their molt. It does make the snake more aggressive, as they rely on the noise to keep threats at bay.
You should check out JCVD's Death Warrant 1990 & Double Impact 1991. Recommendation: Dolph Lundgren movies The Punisher 1989, Dark Angel 1990, Showdown in Little Tokyo 1992 & Joshua Tree 1993.
I remember when people actually cared about Yancy Butler. She had her own show once if I remember correctly. Pretty girl who had a short run of fame and has literally been forgotten by everyone.... except nerds like me of course. Other old school forgotten actors to remember are Rebecca Demornay, Richard Kind, Rachel Ticotin, and Rae Dawn Chung, among others.
I love this movie, one of my favorites of JCVD, but still behind Bloodsport and Lionheart!. Funny thing, i dont even remember the name of the character nor actress of the woman in the movie, i just know that she has big eyebrows and that she was Witchblade.
I agree with the comments below This channel is highly underrated But I’m sure won’t be for long Hilarious reviews and got movies that I grew up watching Love the videos
I thought about avenging force as well seconds before you mentioned it About the rattlesnake: when they change their skin tehy lose the ability to rattle for a short time...
After this movie John Woo discovered that Americans count gun shots... so in his next American movie Face Off... he made a point to have the actors reload.
My wife n I just had a Jean-Blood Clot-Van Demand marathon. We have several films do to those "multi movie collection dvds" and....I forgot what I was going to say about this film.
Please could you do a 1974 Sonny Chiba(RIP) film called "The street fighter"? It's wonderfully wrong and comedically gory in places with lot's of crunchy noises.
Is this the JCVD flick where he unloads a mag from an SMG at point blank range, stops to kick tf out of the goon he's been shooting, then *carries on* shooting him again?!
I needed some food to raise the class level of the slap and tickle outfit once I took it over. I hired a French Chef who makes the best Haggis in the world. He cooks up steaming logs of Haggis to perfection. I offer that to all of our clients.
To van dammed credit, he kicks the guy on the motorcycle with the instep of his boot, right below the shin. Also, gets the guy in the Eq helmet screen, fining some cushion. This kick to me breaks the tension of the loss felt by the slain officer and is my favorite part of the film.
Dual wielding berettas, walking in slow motion while doves fly, sparks flying off things that cant make sparks, lack of reloads until it becomes necessary for a martil arts showdown scene, this is John Woo at his finest!

Great choice, John Woo always bring the food stuff 😂👏👍
You should check out JCVD's Death Warrant 1990 & Double Impact 1991. Recommendation: Dolph Lundgren movies The Punisher 1989, Dark Angel 1990, Showdown in Little Tokyo 1992 & Joshua Tree 1993.
Oh these are some great suggestions! Added to the list
Dark Angel?

- And you will go in pieces!
@@PobortzaPl Hahahaha yes that one.
This was hilarious 😂 Subscribed!
Thanks friend!
You should totally do some more JCVD reviews!
done and done
Ohh man i love you! you are my new favourite youtuber! 😍😍 your comments are pure gold!!!! please! keep on!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm so glad! Thank you for the kind words
My favorite JCVD movie!! Good job.
Knocking them out of the park bro. Keep it up!
Thank you so much
I agree with the comments below
This channel is highly underrated
But I’m sure won’t be for long
Hilarious reviews and got movies that I grew up watching
Love the videos
Thanks friend! I appreciate the kind words and am glad you like the channel
Guns without reloading.. John Woo.
This was when JCVD was hitting his apex of cocaine and hookers...
Awesome movie!
thank you sir! I am pretty good at time mgmt. It always feels good to be noticed.
'' And Randal ? Next time I come back here ... I cut me a steak ! ''
I thought about avenging force as well seconds before you mentioned it
About the rattlesnake: when they change their skin tehy lose the ability to rattle for a short time...
oh thats an interesting fact. so a silent rattler could be a real thing? terrifying
@@RedEyeReviews when we visited the US we also went to ND Badlands...when the parkrangers told us that I was about to not go
If Wilford Brimley came up to me and started yelling at me, I would have cried and said sorry for doing something wrong.
Another great review! Have you thought of doing Kickboxer?
Thank you! I have actually. I need to add that to the list
After this movie John Woo discovered that Americans count gun shots... so in his next American movie Face Off... he made a point to have the actors reload.
That's hilarious
the movie was actually only an hour long. so the director decided to put half of it in slo-mo to stretch it out.
I believe it
Next to Jason Brant, this is probably my most favourite underdog review channels!
aww thank you so much!
My wife n I just had a Jean-Blood Clot-Van Demand marathon. We have several films do to those "multi movie collection dvds" and....I forgot what I was going to say about this film.
That's a great name for your marathon hahaha
There are no reloads in John Woo movies
Please could you do a 1974 Sonny Chiba(RIP) film called "The street fighter"? It's wonderfully wrong and comedically gory in places with lot's of crunchy noises.
Oooo I'll add it to the list
Haha nice one, this movie was awesome, very 90s style action flick, really entertaining especially when watching with friends.
The awesome mullet makes up for the lack of splits.
Is this the JCVD flick where he unloads a mag from an SMG at point blank range, stops to kick tf out of the goon he's been shooting, then *carries on* shooting him again?!
Back when can Damme looked like what Rob van dam would like in 10 years
I needed some food to raise the class level of the slap and tickle outfit once I took it over. I hired a French Chef who makes the best Haggis in the world. He cooks up steaming logs of Haggis to perfection. I offer that to all of our clients.
What was that French one-liner by Wilford Brimley?
I don’t know if you talked about birds enough when describing John Woo movies.
I needed to bring it up at least 10 more times
To van dammed credit, he kicks the guy on the motorcycle with the instep of his boot, right below the shin. Also, gets the guy in the Eq helmet screen, fining some cushion. This kick to me breaks the tension of the loss felt by the slain officer and is my favorite part of the film.
I never realized how "face-off" this movie is!!
Awesome movie 🎬 John Woo is a legend 🙌
Glorious. Absolutely glorious.
