He was doing tiny roles in TV and film before any break. On the other hand, John David went straight to starring in movies. He went 1 acting credit to A list blockbusters. Same as Conan; I saw Wyatt in Black Mirror and thought how natural and charismantic an actor he was, that I'd love to see in more stuff, _then_ realised he was Kurt and Goldie's son.

      they are playing the same character too at different life stages and while both having pretty solid stand-alone performances. monarch isn't a perfect show, but those two are really the stars of the drama. i care more about shaw's character and history because of the father and son's talent. its like they workshopped shaw together during preproductions.

      @@remyd8767 Yes it has flaws, some big ones even. But damn, it is so much better than it has any right to be. I think if someone would cut those 10 Episodes down to maybe 6, it's an easy 9/10.
      Right now it's hovering at 7 - 7.5/10 for me personally, depending how the last Episode will go. If it really sticks the landing, maybe it's even an 8/10. But if it fails... Maybe 6.5/10.

    I used to watch Wyatt play hockey when I lived in Chilliwack, BC (Canada)
    He was on the Surrey team, our main rivals. There would always be a ton of fights on the ice when they visited. One time our goalie even threw off his gloves and joined the brawl. 😂 Sometimes Kurt and Goldie would be in the bleachers. Good times circa 2004!! 🍁🏒🏒🏒🍁

      @Lucifronz 7 месяцев назад

      @@thedude4672 That means very little in an industry where you don't have an actual job. When you're a director or actor, you just keep producing new movies. In part it's necessary to do so regularly to stay relevant and keep your connections, but Kurt Russell is still very active and John Carpenter is a renowned director who does not need to do that anymore. If he wants to make a movie, all he has to do is make a movie.
      But yeah, maybe he just doesn't want to anymore, that's fine. Would be awesome to see more from them both together, though.

    Wyatt's episode is my favorite Black Mirror episode. That twist is insane! Ol Kurt is one of my favs. I grew up with Big Trouble in Little China and loved it...then enjoyed other roles like Soldier. That level of fitness he achieved in that movie was insane. I loved the premise and yes, Kurt didn't have many lines, but that fit the character, and it's much harder to act w/o talking. Non verbals are huge and he crushed it in that movie. Monarch with the two of them is great. Such a cool thing to be able to do and helps with that emersion. (as they look similar) Also...never knew the younger 'soldier' was Wyatt....very cool.

    One of the reasons I really respect Kurt Russell is because of how he views his work. He takes it seriously, and he separates himself from the work and the characters. It's one of the reasons he has somewhat limited social media presence. Not that he has no social media presence, but he makes it a point not to throw every little opinion he has out there, because he understands that what he does entertains *everyone* from all walks of life and he feels that it's not an actor's job to get political.
    It can be hard not to speak up, especially when you know you can have an impact if you do, and I respect him for respecting the work and trying to maintain a professional approach to acting. It puts him in a class above a lot of actors for me just for that alone, if not for his incredible acting chops.
