Wow, I did the same thing as Wyatt at probably around the same age on Ancestry in my early 20s. You start to feel really special finding out that many generations your ancestors were on The Mayflower, some made the journey across the Atlantic and made lives in the US, some where Dutch pirates, but then at a certain point you realize you've gone so far back past any family you have any photo graphic record of, that your "family" has had many many decedents that aren't you, that make up 50 plus families across the world, and you start to feel less unique and special and that these extremely dead people you never knew about you don't really care about. You've rather focus on your own life. I'm glad I got out relatively fast in the mid 2000s before it took over too much of my life and gave my account to my mom, and I wonder what she would have been spending her time so often now had I not. If I get fortunate to be old and rich later maybe I'll look back into it more.
Its amazing that they've been able to keep the Russell name going all of these generations removed. So there has always been a male heir in every generation to carry on the name. Sometimes the family tree will branch off where the most interesting part will be from a female heir who takes on a new last name when she marries.
@@joemckim1183My family name will die with my brother and I. Neither of us wants kids and our sister is the only one who has any. And my Dad only had one sibling, a brother, who died childless. They hated when people would refer to how nice things used to be compared to today. They destroy America but at the same time blame the system for the garbage that they created. They had a lot of piece of metal in their skin and tattoos all over their body. I was tempted to get tattoos as well. Although they did not influence me to destroy history.
